Maisha's hazel eyes darted around the area before her, dark tail tuft flicking back and forth with excitement. Needing a bit of a break from the large bunch, her parents had left her and her siblings with the nannies. Not only did it mean that she got a change of scenery, but it also meant that Maisha got to meet new lions! At the current point in time, the little cub didn't know very many people in the pride, aside from her own siblings. She knew them well enough. The cub was practically bouncing on her paws, eyes roaming all other the strangers before her.
Maisha was so wrapped up in the situation that she didn't even hear her parents' goodbyes, trotting alongside the nanny towards the babysitting area without so much as a glance backwards. Maisha's eyes widened at the sight of all the new cubs. She couldn't believe how many there were! If Maisha had known how exciting this was going to be, she would have asked her parents to send them to the nannies sooner. And to think that some of her siblings were nervous about leaving Mom and Dad. Ha! This was going to be the best day ever.

Usiku Had decided to ask her nannies if she could wander the pridelands in search of new friends. stepping into the bright sun, her dark coat instantly got hot. Usiku gave a smal huff, and went on walking. She found a nice, shady baobab tree to lay under. Seeing a small mouse, she went to play with it. She had hoped it wouldnt be afraid, she wasnt even that big yet!

"aha! gotcha!" she shouted with glee. she had pinned the mouse's tail underneath her paw. Her golden eyes gleamed playfully, the mouse hardly struggling under her paw. she let go, wriggled her butt, and pounced again, but she realized her play friend had disappeared. She frowned a little, and went back to her spot on the tree. she sighed, and curled up into a small ball.

Sorry, I never got any notification that this thread had a reply. @^@. If you quote me in every tag, though, I should be able to reply pretty quickly.

Maisha scowled a little at all the commotion around her. As much as she wanted to meet new people, it seemed as if most of the cubs already had friends that they were playing with, And her siblings seemed to be nowhere in sight. She hoped that she could find someone to meet. Nannies were all well and good, but they weren't the same as cubs her age.
Her eyes scanned around the throng of lions and cubs, searching for a loner or quieter cub that she could go up to and introduce herself. A flash of motion in her peripheral vision caught her attention. Maisha's head snapped around to face a boaobab tree. The cub cocked her head to the side, unable to see anything around the tree. She jumped a little when suddenly, part of the shadow moved, a streak of white flashing in the dark shade of the tree. There was a cub underneath the tree! Interest piqued, Maisha carefully snuck away from the nannies. She wasn't sure whether or not she was allowed to separate from the rest of the group, but she was willing to bet that getting caught would result in some scolding.
After successfully managing to slip beneath the noses of the nannies, Maisha cheerfully trotted up to the cub beneath the tree. "Hi there!" She said in a perky voice, a bright smile on her face.

Usiku jumped a little in surprise at the other female cubs voice. "oh, hello. Im Usiku, who are you?" she gave her a sweet, friendly smile, but was still a little unsure about all of this. She was, after all, a bit of a shy cub. she sat up a little, and looked around. She wondered if this cub was also allowed to be let out of the nannies care sometimes. Maybe, maybe not.

Maisha's ear flicked back a little. Oops. It seemed that she had startled her new friend. Usiku seemed a little shy. That was fine. One of her sisters were like that. It just meant that she had to lower her voice a little. Her parents had told her once that she spoke rather loudly, but Maisha never noticed it, nor could she really help it. The cub was just so excited all of the time; she couldn't help but be loud and boisterous! But if meant scaring away potential friends, then Maisha would have to try and keep her voice level in check.
"My name is Maisha." She answered proudly, as if it meant something. It did to her, at least. After all, her parents had chosen that name out of all the other names that existed, therefore it had to be special. Maisha didn't know how it was special, but she was sure that it was. "This is my first day with the nannies. But I snuck away because everyone else was boring." The girl explained, rolling her eyes. She plopped down near Usiku , wriggling her body along the ground until she was completely in the shade.

Usiku chuckled a little. "I snuck out too, i thought i might find something else to do" She smiled at her new friend, happy she had someone to play with."so, do you know any games?" Usiku's mouse friend was long gone by now, and she had needed something to do, so why not ask her friend? Usiku hoped she wasnt being too pushy.

Maisha giggled along with the black cub, glad she hadn't been the only one to think that nannies were boring. Her parents had told her that it was going to be fun, that the nannies were just like big cubs and she would make tons of new friends. So far, the first two had proven to be false. Maisha could only hope that she could make up for the last one with this Usiku.
Maisha frowned at Usiku's question, thinking about it for a minute. Games? Like playing? Maisha certainly new how to play plenty of games. Coming from such a big litter, playing was never in any short amount. But most of them tended towards the rough-and-tumble end of the spectrum, and it was already a hot day. Maisha herself, donned in soft cream and rust, felt the heat of the sun. She couldn't imagine how poor Usiku felt, what with her dark black coat and all. The cub felt it prudent to ask before dragging her new friend back out into the sun to run around a whole bunch. "I know a lot! And tons of different kinds, too." Maisha answered at first. "Buuuuut, do you wanna stay in the shade or get up and run around a little?"

Usiku chuckled a little, she really wanted to play, and didnt really care if she got too hot, she knew when it felt like it was burning, she would find some shade. "there are bushes not far off, we could play in those, maybe hide and seek?" Usiku liked hide and seek, and was hoping her friend did too

Maisha could have jumped up into the air with joy. As it was, she settled for bouncing a little bit on her toes. Hide and seek was one of her favourite games! She wasn't very good at hiding due to her light colouring, but she did love seeking. Maisha had all but memorized her siblings' hiding spots at this point. It would be nice to actually have a challenge again!
The little cub giggled gleefully, nodding rapidly to Usiku. "I'm the best at hide and seek!" She bragged, puffing out her chest a little bit. There would be no way that Usiku would be able to hide from her for too long. "I'll stay here and seek, and you can go hide in the bushes!" She offered, tail twitching back and forth as she eagerly awaited for the game to start. "So when you're ready, I'll cover up my eyes with my paws and count to thirty. Sound good?" Maisha's head cocked to the side a little bit, punctuating her question. This was going to be awesome. Who would have thought Usiku would have picked her favourite game?

Usiku got just about as excited as her new frined did "Great, cover your eyes!" She shouted as she started running towards the bushes, still looking behind her, she wasnt too sure where, to hide, but she had plenty of time to run and hide, she started running into the bushes, dropping to a low crouch, it was very shady and cool in there, but she wouldnt hide here. She found a small cave with a moss covering, and gathered leaves and twigs from bushes to cover it with, she did it quickly, and ran into the small cave.

Maisha stuffed her face into the trunk of the tree, covering her eyes with her paws. She began counting was Usiku ran off into the bushes, the noise of rustling leaves and branches giving away the direction she had run in. The young cub kept her ears pricked, listening closely for any other indicators of where Usiku would be heading off to. It was a trick she used a lot when she played with her siblings. "Twenty-eight, twenty-nine, thirty!" Maisha sprang up, tail twitching back and forth. She grinned, shouting off into the bushes, "Ready or not, here I come!"
The female tromped off, moving slowly through the brush. It had been a while since Maisha had played hide-and-seek outside, but she remembered the advice her father gave to her. Use her nose to smell, her ears to listen, and her eyes to look for little paw prints. Maisha didn't think her paws were that little, but compared to her father's, well, she guessed she could understand where he was coming from.
Maisha looked around, trying to see and paw prints on the ground. However, the dark shade provided by the leaves was making it impossible to see any details on the ground. The cub took a whiff of the air. She could smell another cub, hopefully Usiku, but without a refined sense of smell, Maisha couldn't track the scent from its source. The cub trampled amongst the twigs and branches, trying to find any sign of Usiku. She would be really well camouflaged in the shady bushes, Maisha realized. This might be harder than she originally thought."I'm gonna find you! She called out, hoping to her a giggle or soft laugh. That's what always gave her sisters away.

Usiku held her breath as Maisha shouted out, and walked around. Usiku grinned a little as she was wel camoflauged in the shade of bushes. She stayed crouched silently, getting that fun, but nervous butterfly feeling she was going to be found, but Maisha hadnt come to her hidning spot yet. She pricked her ears a little, and tasted the air. No sign of her...yet.

She hoped that Maisha wouldn't give up, sure she would be tough to find, but Usiku almost nevered played this, so Maisha had to be better, right? Usiku stayed crouched down in her small cave, smiling as she was so well hidden.

Maisha scowled fiercely. How come Usiku was so good at this? Totally not fair. The other cub couldn't be cheating, could she? Maisha didn't really know how someone could cheat at hide-and-seek, but surely it had to be possible. It never took her this long to find her siblings! Pouting, Maisha stamped the ground with her paw and found herself falling forward a few inches.
The young female pulled her paw up from the hole in the ground that she had stepped through. Huh. Maisha hadn't noticed that before. In fact, if she hadn't stomped her paw, she probably never would have known it was there. Maisha started thinking, her brain working rapidly. Could there be other holes in the ground near the bushes. If so, were there ones big enough for a cub to hide in? That might explain how Usiku had hidden from her so well. But how would she find the exact hole that Usiku was hiding in?
Her smell! Maisha stuck her nose to the ground, drinking in the scent of dirt and leaves. The cub began prowling around with her face on the ground, trying to find the smell of another cub. It wouldn't work if there was another cub in the area, but Maisha was confident that wasn't the case.
After a few minutes of search, Maisha stumbled upon a spot of moss, leaves, and twigs that hinted a scent of another cub. Maisha began digging through the twigs, laughing in delight as she was met with black fur instead of dirt. "Gotcha!" She exclaimed, bouncing on her toes. "You're pretty good at this!"

Usiku giggled with delight. "You sure did! I had no idea I was this good at hide and seek!" She smiled wide with delight, and then said to her friend "Now its your turn to hide! Usiku jumped out of her hiding place, now facing Maisha.

I'm gonna go ahead and say that this is the last from me. x3

Maisha giggled. Surprisingly, she wasn't as mad as she thought she would be about the situation. It was kind of fun to have had such a difficult challenge. She only hoped that she could give Usiku the same kind of challenge! "You're never gonna find me!" The young female bragged good-heartedly. It wasn't a proper game if there wasn't a little one-uping going on. Maisha scurried off into the bushes to find the perfect hiding place, brown tail tuft disappearing into the leaves.
