Storyline

In a world known as Kobalt, alchemy has been rediscovered. It contains the periodic and natural elements, converting them into powerful techniques, and magic. With this power available, both new and old technology have been renovated. Alchemical weapons, as well as "spellblade," skills have been created. However, as alchemy develops within society, peace is not ready to submit itself.

Black chunks of metal, now referred to as Stardust, have crashed into various spots on this world, unleashing surges of dark power, mutating beasts and creating new races. The 'negative zones' of which surround these chunks of Stardust possess the greatest danger. Fragments of this rare metal are famed for their power, and value. Only workable through alchemy, it can be mixed with other metals or used as is. However, the more pure the metal, the more dangerous it is in the hands of the untrained.

The chunks of Stardust remain in the Negative Zones, waiting for someone brave and strong enough to claim their power. Will it be one of you? Or will the beasts spread and consume the world entirely?

Rules

3. Only a few characters start with high alchemy skill levels for sake of plot. Others learn gradually through use and training.
4. Teamwork is encouraged, but you may only kill another character with permission from the owner.
5. Try to be active. It slows the rp down when people don't post without notice.
6. More rules may be added.

Guidelines


1. Stardust is a metal capable of being fused in any other metal alchemically. The higher the purity, the higher the grade, but also, the higher the danger.

2. Stardust causes bizarre effects in living things, so resistance must gradually be built up in lower grade items. The overall grade of your gear affects the impact on your character, not just the max grade of items. If the total grade exceeds tolerance, side effects begin to develop, starting with strange dreams. Other, more physical and mental effects will manifest as time goes on, depending on the exceeded level.

3. Alchemy seems to bear an effect on tolerance. The higher your overall alchemy skill, the more resistant you person become to Stardust. Eventually, you'll gain use of other elements, and be able to mix them together.

4. Simply equipping Stardust gear isn't the only way to affect the radiation level. Wandering into an area with a strong source can affect a person, and having any gear on or near them can cause an effect on them over time.

Database


Stardust- Term given to a mysterious black metal that fell from the sky. Possesses incredible strength, can only be worked with alchemy, becomes stronger when worked with alchemy, but the most powerful in a pure form. The purest form is the most dangerous, and the metal is also the cause for the outbreak of monsters.

Dust poisoning- Stardust's power is great, but high grade forms, it can be very dangerous in large amounts. Simply crashing into the ground unleashed great power that mutated animals into monsters. No one knows the true extent of the dangers of Stardust, but they strange nightmares are the first symptom of poisoning.

Alchemy


Alchemy is the basis for much of the magic within the story. Your alchemy skill will be graded from 0-20, 0 being unable to use an element, and 20 having mastered it. You'll start around 10 for one element, and 5 for the other. You'll be able to level your starting elements you were born with faster than other elements, and be able to use them better. You can be born with 2 elements, the rest must be learned before they can be used. Your overall alchemy skill levels will determine your resistance to Stardust.

Resistance


Resistance is your ability to tolerate radiation to Stardust. With more pure, and higher concentrations of Stardust, your tolerance will be tested. If your tolerance is exceeded, the first symptom is your character will suffer from strange nightmares. The amount of radiation that exceeds your resistance also affects how quickly side effects take over. Some will go away after time, and some, such as mutations, won't go away.

The gear you have on you, equipped, and residual radiation in the area all add up to your total radiation. So walking into a heavily radiated area can cause side effects in your character if they're already taxing their resistance, so watch out. Small amounts of radiation beyond your characters limits can take several hours to take any noticeable effect. While awake and suffering from larger amounts of radiation, painful headaches will begin to take root, and prolonged exposure will cause mood swings. No two characters are alike, so results can easily vary, especially as more is discovered about Stardust.

Bio: Raised as a farmer, he took up the sword at age 14. Also able to use larger scythes, as well as spears, he has learned alchemy from various teachers. Favoring dark and fire, he can fuse the two for powerful combinations. Using fire alchemy, he cooks various meals, fighting enemies with the same passion. Often nicknamed the Shadow Puppeteers, he controls shadows skillfully for his age, and went to school to learn tactics, which he shows a nack for.

Special Skills: Cooking

Second Sight- Using dark and fire alchemy together, he can reduce the effects of bright lights, or enhance his vision in the dark. Reduces contrast between lights and darks, consuming energy while active. Effects are only present within his own vision.

Phoenix Wings- Fire based alchemy that attaches manifested wings on his back. They can be used for defense, or for improving movement speed. They also allow limited flight, but primarily gliding. Consumes energy while active.

Personality: Generally calm, but has a fierce side to him. He doesn't care what people say, but if they attack him or his friends, his anger boils over. His anger amps his fire alchemy, but makes it more wild. Usually blends in within public environments, but will tell people what they need to hear if he feels necessary to do so.
Additional Info/Gear Possesses some skill in hand to hand, using blazing attacks and fire breath. Also has the ability to wrap his shadow around himself for defense, or attack with shadow projectiles. Able to move quickly.

Health Tonic x1- A red mixture that almost instantly mends moderate wounds. Good for making heavy injuries more manageable.
Medicinal Paste x3- A green medicinal compound mashed up, and placed into a small box. Applied to wounds externally. Mostly for shallow cuts. Can be used until all the paste is used up.
Mana Tonic x1- A blue mixture that restores magical energies moderately.

Gender- M
Race- Wolfish Kistune
Abilities- Can perform any spell, but needs to learn them first, he wishes. He is also a skilled fighter with blades and arrows. Plus Slightly immortal.

Other info- Has a split personality that is extremely hostile, hard to gain trust, usually mean, manipulative and highly sadistic. This is Wulf; Wolf's other personality that all you have to do is just anger wolf enough, which is rare for wulf to arrive when he is angered, does something that wulf doesn't like people to do to wolf (odd that he cares of his other person), exposing to heavy things, that sadist people will go nuts on, to him. Over all wolf is a friendly character that is willing to make friends with any one and wishes not to fight others, unless if they start fights with him. He is also Immortal but slightly; he can take a few heart stabs, decapitations, or other fatal hits that can kill a person quickly. After taking so much, he will soon hit his limits and slowly start to die if he doesn't stop taking hits. He has to wait 24 hours, if not in battle, to be able to recover fully and then take more hits.
