My newest idea is for an RP involving becoming characters in an underground guild of assassins (possibly rivaled with another guild) who must evade the clutches of the law and put down tyranny.
Inspiration was drawn from Dishonored and Assassin's Creed, but follows neither of these games.
The Guild is watched over by what they know as the Spirit of Obsidian, Faltiera, and although they do not often receive orders or demands from 'her,' followers receive special abilities and favor in return for devotion. They do not know her origin or true purpose, but see her as a sort of guardian deity.
Faltiera will be played by the rp creator (me) and will occasionally hand down important information that may add vital knowledge and direction for characters in the story. Players will be allowed to play assassins, soldiers, or ordinary citizens who are somehow drawn into the conflict.
Still undecided between a past or future setting. Ideas are appreciated.

I'm conflicted on the timeline, because I think it would be interesting to mix stealth involving traditional assassin techniques with some manner of technology. Nothing modern though, now that I think about it.
But I'd like to see this take place in both the countryside (where hideouts, shrines, etc. might be located) and larger cities. Though I've been really toying with the idea of lots of cold weather environments lately, such as Greenland, Alaska, the Arctic, and especially Russia.
And I don't know if my imagination's up to the task of making a new world for this yet.

I am interested in the rp. Also when it comes down to the task of making the world, I am willing to help with that. I enjoy buildings worlds, coming up with lore and settings. Also a fan of the colder climates myself, should be interesting. As for technology, I think it would be a cool element to add to the rp. Depending on how its handled and what not. Lots of options depending on setting as well.

Well, it depends how far into the future you'd be going. I don't think it would be bad to use present time for it. As for where you should do it, Russia! <3 Could be a smaller village versus a large city, where the tyrant lives.

Okay, you guys have been giving me some good inspiration. I'd like to do an original world, but I'd be drawing upon Russia for inspiration, considering the climate and architecture there makes me immensely happy. Not including the normal folk, we could possess three separate factions.
1. The Children:
A secret assassin's Guild that answers only to their guardian protector, Faltiera. Her 'blessing' enables increased reflexes and an additional natural ability bestowed upon the one who receives her favor. They specialize in targeting cruel murderers and monstrous tyrants.This organization possesses no real name, but are known to be Faltiera's Children.
2. The Orphans:
A rival Guild to the Children who believe that Faltiera is a goddess of death and destruction come to cleanse the world of sin and that worship is not an option. Unlike their rivals, these killers will use any means necessary in order to bring about what they call 'justice,' even if it means disposing of innocents and attacking others on a whim. Children call them the Orphans.
3. The Empire:
A complex network of developing territories that are ruled by a single sovereign lord, within whom rests greed and violence. Currently, a series of rapidly failing uprisings separate the empire from moving to war against a new country. They aim to destroy both Guilds through force to quell their conspiracy attempts.
And Faltiera of the Obsidian:
'She' is thought to be a spirit or goddess and is followed by the Assassin's Guilds. Faltiera cares not what her followers do with their power in most cases, as long as they vow to love and thank her when she bestows the blessing upon them. Faltiera is normally thought to be ethereal and completely formless, though has once materialized as a white-haired woman in black. Her desires, motives, etc. are unknown.
Any technology would be low-level. The first guns are experimental and not in production. The Imperial Sovereign would also be available to someone to play.
