[note: this RP takes place about an hour after the "start" time of the party, so there's already music playing, there are already npc party-goers there, your start can have your character arriving, or already in attendance, it's up to yooooou!]

Liberty and Lena had been at it all day, or rather, after a casual birthday lunch.

Cleaning, decorating - Cooking. Liberty had taken Kess' truck to grab last minute items, such as cups, before setting tables up, food, drink stations... Lena had been baking and creating delicious things. She was forbidden from touching any of the sound systems [as was Liberty, no one wanted Country], but she was master of the snacks.

Kess, of course, didn't do much of anything. Playing some video games, going to visit people that insisted on it, texting to confirm who was coming... But now, she was leaning against the counter between kitchen and living room, having a pre-gaming drink and watching Lena finish icing some cupcakes.

Dusty had already arrived and set up his DJing equipment. Vanya was here, she did live there now, and Liberty of course was trying to make things just perfect.

The music was playing, and people were already crowding the living room and kitchen to show up. She'd invited a mix of people she'd encountered in the past week and good friends, but only folks that enjoyed a party. If anyone extra showed up, she wouldn't mind.

Quinn was always down for a party- particularly one that was majority women and for her presh bby Kess who she would pretty much do anything for. With the current events in her life, she felt like she could desperately use a drink or ten and her friend's birthday party was the perfect excuse to do exactly that.

For once in her ridiculous life, it was time for Quinn to let loose and actually enjoy things. And that was exactly what she planned to do as she made herself at home and entered Kess' house without ringing the doorbell.

If she knew for sure everyone there was on 'their side', she would've made it easier on herself and just mirrorwalked- because that was one hell of a way to make an entrance at a party.

It was not easy to step back and let people eat what she'd been guarding like a dragon all day. It wasn't the first time that day, either, that Lena had been considering buying a cabinet that locked rather stoutly to keep certain foodstuffs away from the ravenous horde that were their friends. Yet at the same time, considering their affiliations, there wasn't much that could keep Kess out of where she wanted to be.

Conundrum.

Had she known what Quinn was considering for her grand entrance, Lena also probably would have encouraged this no matter what the alignment of the party was. The shock on their faces would be enough to target and later eliminate...but that was considered 'unwise'. Hadn't she done enough unwise things in her short life to want to avoid more? Probably. But this wouldn't be her unwise decision...alas, mind reading was not one of Lena's skills and they were all safe to live another day without her harebrained schemes ruining the party.

For now. There was still a plan to try and subvert the DJ later in the evening to play some good music. Spying Quinn, realizing that their hairstyles were now fairly identical, she snorted and called out. "Hey Quinn, I think I stole your reflection!" Boy, that was a good joke. GREAT joke in fact...

If Lena had tried, Liberty would surely have helped Kesslan break into such a cabinet. That is, if the combined lesbian wiles of both cousins had not gotten them into it without necessary force.

"Those look amazing, Lena," the redhead commented as she squeezed by Kesslan to set a plastic bag, clanking all the while, onto the kitchen counter. The freezer door was opened, and she slid extra bottles of alcohol inside.

There were already several kinds set up on the table in the living room space, including a deep colored sangria. Entering spring, the day was warm enough to warrant coolers just outside full of soda, for those who didn't drink, and beer.

Taking a few plastic cups with her, as the pile had already begun to deplete, Liberty made to head that way. Heavy alcohol usually wasn't her drink of choice. "Would you like a beer, Kess?"

Liberty had been helping greet and organize everyone who entered, and she was ready for a quick break and a chance to really socialize. It was astounding how many friends Kesslan had in the area, especially so many women.

Had Quinn bothered to share her mirrow-walking idea with Arilee, she'd have found herself a willing accomplice. Alas, the tall, mohawked blonde was left with the far too mundane means of walking to the party. Still, the invitation had given her the shake she'd needed to put some of her gloomy thoughts aside and start enjoying herself again. Why, she'd even given her mohawk a much needed touch up, trimming back everything except the length of white blonde hair that nearly obscured her left eye.

Grinning and humming as she knocked at the door and was admitted, she fairly skipped inside, arms wrapped protectively around a be-ribboned and be-glittered gift bag. Spying Quinn, she hurried over to pinch her friend's cheek gently and wink before continuing on her way to where Kess stood. Smiling, she leaned over quickly and planted a soft, quite-chaste kiss on Kess' freckled cheek before shoving the bag into her hands.

"The birthday kid always got a good luck kiss when I was growing up," she stated cheerfully. "And I really hope you like the gift. Don't know how much chance you'll get to use it, but I thought it might be useful."

It had taken some serious wrangling to get some of the stuff in time, but Ari'd managed. Gift cards for a couple top of the line surf shops, the best board wax she could find, some body lotion to keep the saltwater from ruining Kess' skin and for some reason, a pair of pure white aviator sunglasses. Just because Ari thought they were cute.

And speaking of cute... it was clear to anyone who knew her even a little that she was feeling better. All they had to do was note the almost predatory gleam in her sunset eyes as she took note of the cute DJ and growing horde of cute girls at the party.

"Thanks," After a 'friendly squeeze' in return to Arilee's kiss, Kess only gave the contents of the bag a cursory glance before slipping the shades onto her freckled face [who cared that they were indoors] and placing the generous gift on a table designated for such things. Tomorrow, she'd think of ways to properly thank everyone.

"Get yourself a drink, and meet some folks." Indicating Arilee, she made eye contact with her redheaded cousin. "Two beers! No, three!"

One was passed to her fellow blonde, before she pushed her way through the growing crowd to Quinn's side, offering her the second beer. "Glad you could make it, gorgeous."

Vanya spent the day hiding in her room, poring over wanted ads and hoping for some kind of divine inspiration. No matter how good she was at keeping things organized, she actually didn't want to be a personal assistant forever. And, though she was completely conscious of Kess's birthday and Kess's stated wish to have her present for the party, she was… a little nervous! She didn't know anyone except Lena, and her only a little. At least she didn't have to worry about giving Kess her present in public--she'd left the wrapped DVD on Kess's bed that morning, sneaking down before anyone was up to catch her.

Still, social anxiety didn't mean she was completely deaf. People seemed to be arriving, and she'd honestly been dressed and ready to go introduce herself since she'd heard the kid Kess called Dusty arrive. So she opened her door a crack, peeked out, and then sidled out to join the small mess of people. She felt kind of--sort of really-- guilty about hiding all day, especially since she'd been there and hadn't helped, but that was the past and she couldn't do anything to change it so she shouldn't worry, right?… right.

She was definitely overcomplicating things.

Okay, she told herself. Two minutes and then I'll go introduce myself to someone. Or say happy birthday to Kess, but there were people over by Kess. So. Two minutes. Starting then.

Accepting the beer and friendly squeeze with a grin, Ari managed to adopt Kess' former post and stood watching Lena contentedly. After a few moments of sipping at her drink, she flashed Lena a wink.

"So tell me, beautiful, when're you gonna take up that invite to visit me? It gets lonely in that damned house with only me and the pup. I could use some company."

In spite of how it sounded, and Ari knew just how terrible she sounded, there was little to no thought at attempting to get into Lena's pants. No matter how strange the situation (and boy, Ari thought, was it ever strange), any intentions Lena-wards were strictly on the sisterly level. She simply enjoyed the other girl's company.

"There's always more surfing lessons too, if you want," she added.

Quinn wasn't the only one entering without knocking.

Belly full of greens and what slivers of meat she could scrounge, Uuni was fresh from lunch. No amount of arguing that lettuce did not go with heavy alcohol had saved her from the lunch with Avery Hollister. After a thorough shower earlier, the brunette arrived feeling entirely too clean.

The pair had come together, stepping out of a sparkling white golf, both dressed to impress. Though, Avery did so with arguably more fashion.

Leaving the door open behind her--whether it was left open for Avery or out of rudeness was anyone's guess--Uuni pulled off a pair of aviators and tucked them against the front of her tank. For once, Uuni was wearing a pair of jeans. Slick, black things that were just beginning to wear around the edges. They were the only pair of jeans she owned, and in a few months, they'd likely be leaning towards grunge. For now, however, they were as passable as the well-taken-care-of heels she'd worn with them.

It took only a quick scan of the area to determine that this was the place to be.

"Text me before you jump, yeah?" were her friendly, parting words for Avery.

Off to the living room Uuni went. "Kess." Whoever might have been talking to her would have to settle for being interrupted. Uuni passed through like a frail tornado, fingers pinching the blondes hip.

"Congratulations on surviving another year in this hell-city." And it was the city of hell, thank you.

A glance, to Quinn, before looking back to Kess. "I brought you another of Destiny City's hottest."
PostPosted: Sun Mar 10, 2013 5:48 pm

Avery didn't waste much time after they'd pulled into the driveway, but Uuni was still out the door and up the walkway before her. Turning off the car and pulling a canvas bag from the trunk took ate up minutes, and by the time her high heeled steps sounded on the front steps, the brunette had disappeared inside, leaving the door ajar.

She didn't take offense. They weren't the type of friends to stay attached at the hip [the idea was nauseating, in fact], and the sassy brunette took the opportunity to slip quietly, and without harassment into the house. It was already somewhat crowded, with music playing [though no dancing - yet], greetings, conversation, laughter, drinking, and light snacking.

Pushing her sunglasses up into her hair, the sundress-clad femme made a beeline for the kitchen, smiling at those whom she made contact with. A drawer was pulled open, corkscrew removed, and she went about opening a bottle of very expensive, very lovely french wine.

It was poured into a glass before her gaze caught on someone who, well, seemed to be eyeing the assembled women with apprehension.

"Thirsty, love? Have a drink." She poured a second glass, one manicured finger pushing it closer to the girl on the opposite side of the kitchen counter, before moving her attention elsewhere. If Vanya wanted to talk, she'd let Avery know. Hazel eyes flicked over the room, landing briefly on the DJ. She'd have to chat him up, later.

Hairbrained schemes were something that Quinn just didn't get enough of, so it was probably a good idea that her and Lena hadn't discussed such things before the party. Obviously the two of them needed adult supervision.

When her previously blue-haired friend called out to her, a large grin immediately plastered itself on Quinn's face. She made a beeline towards her and wrapped her up in a huge hug and laughed at the joke that only those in the room that knew Quinn's identity as Leto would understand. "I'm flattered! It looks good on you, even if I was awfully fond of the blue locks."

She wrapped an arm around Lena's waist holding her in a half-hug as Ari moved on by leaving her with a pinch on the cheek. She only moved when Kess made her way over and threw her arms around the birthday girl in an even bigger hug before taking the beer. "As if I'd say no to you," she replied.

"Happy Birthday!" She took a look around the room as a couple of people she hadn't met before started showing up, catching Uuni's glance. "You have a lot of hot friends..." she added with a sly grin.

Well, okay, this group wasn't horrible. It was easier to loosen her deathgrip on the kitchen when Quinn swept in for hugs, laughter echoing in the room. The two of them together really would have been a problem, though Leto had a healthier dose of propriety and responsibility than Linarite would. Eventually that common sense would outweigh whatever crazy schemes they tried to embark on without too much collateral damage...hopefully. Dumped back down by an accepting, welcoming surfer blonde Arilee it was still with a little bit of self-consciousness that the young woman wound a caramel-colored lock around her fingers.

It was halfway to her mouth before the captain remembered she was supposed to be stopping that, turning a wide smile on Arilee instead. "We should make dinner plans soon, I haven't had a chance to really cook for you yet! You and your cute doggie, I suppose." Just mentioning the beach had the former bluenette lighting up the room with both eyes and megawatt grin, dropping her hair to grasp the surfer's hand in an intricate secret-handshake type gesture that only one of them seemed to really know. "Any excuse to get me to the beach is a good one! I mean I liked the surfing but any time on the beach is good time, right? Once it warms up you've totally got a deal." There was such a thing as cold water surfing but not in Lena's mind.

"I'll pay you in dinner for lessons?"

Haley arrived at the time when she felt like it, which was [judging by the small crowd] after the party had started. She brought a bad vegan cake with her with joints in place of candles. She had already smoked one of the joints, and was so high that her thoughts went to this Spy she'd seen on a show the night prior, and what a d**k he'd been.

Said thoughts were also making her want to throw up from nausea.

"Heyyyy," Haley cooed as she got to the house, a bit late as usual for her. Her greeting was directed at nobody in particular, heading straight towards the hostess Kess to hand her the cake. It was falling apart in more places than one, sinking in the middle, so what had once read "Happy Birthday Kess" in frosting now read "Hap Brty Ks."

Whatever, Haley felt. It still looked delicious edible like food like something.

As she scanned the room she noticed the crowd was largely...or perhaps exclusively women, aside from the DJ who she looked a tad familiar as someone she may have dealt to once before. She shrugged and brought the cake to Kess with a smile.

"Happy birthday," she said. "I made this." She said these words with far more pride than such an item would ever deserve. "The stand used for the candles is actually called Birthday Cake!"

That was the only hint that Kess would get at what the object was.

"Avery's here, then?" Kess seemed to know exactly who Uuni was referring to, before she gestured between the two girls at her side. "Quinn, this is Uuni, my best customer at the shop. Uuni, this is Quinn, a badass chick, all around."

Kess shrugged as she glanced over the attractive group of ladies, "Not sure how that happened," and she might actually have been telling the truth. The blonde leaned in, pressing a kiss to the corner of Quinn's mouth, before she was interrupted by Haley's arrival.

Haley was, to say the least, nuts. But she was hilarious, and honest.

"Hale, that looks like s**t. Is that even food?" Kess gave the cake a skeptical look before plucking out one of the 'candles.' It was clearly a joint. Those, at least, were salvageable. "Maybe someone'll eat this later, during Truth or Dare."

She set it on a nearby table, eager to get rid of it. "Haley, this is Uuni and Quinn. You probably have a d**k in common with one, if not both, of 'em."

"Of course its food, its a healthy cake," Haley insisted. She wasn't sure if that was totally sincere, as the guy she bought the ingredients from also tried to sell her rohipnol. "It's like carrot cake but mushroom based instead."

Haley turned to the other two girls - Uuni and Quinn. It may have been possible that they hooked up with the same guy before. Off the top of her head there was Aaron, Alex, Axel, Dylan, Ed, Edd, Eddie, Kam, Jesus, Michael, Ricky, Robert, Sam, and Xenu. It always seemed that Destiny City had a shortage of straight men her age, so it wouldn't be the first time she met a girl who once shared a guy.

She gave a small wave to them with a smile.

"I don't really get around that much," she said to them with a bit of guilt.
