It was a personal day, and a well deserved one.
Karmi hadn't been out on the town in a long while. She'd been stuck in the flower shop for weeks now covering for her lazy manager. Finally they'd fixed the problem by rehiring and all seemed to be going well, and today she was going to get as far away from work and all of her worries as physically possible. She was dressed in her typical camisole, skirt combo with tight black shorts underneath. She wanted to look nice but was looking forward to stretching her legs out for a run. The young woman left early in the morning, taking a long road deeper into the city than she usually cared to wander. Today was about the new and the adventure.
After an hour she had stopped, refreshed and began to wander through the crowded streets of the downtown area. It didn't take her long before finding an outdoor mall area. Though it was relaxing and therapy on her weary mind she was still after some treasure. Her cellphone strap collection was awfully thinned out considering her lust for them, and today was going to be the day when she found the perfect addition to brighten up her life.
She'd apparently not been out and about lately and found herself wandering in a sea of new stores with names she'd heard of only in passing. "Ummm." She stopped, tapping a finger to her face while swinging her head side to side looking for the shop she used to go to. Only it was no where to be found. "It's gotta be here." She said, moving into a light jog.
It was panic, but it was nearing frustration as she stopped to take another look. It was here she noticed a rather large crack in the sidewalk and stared at it. "Ooooh." She said, taking a side-step over it. Was never good luck to step on cracks. Karmi was almost free when she felt a body behind her. It tilted her off balance quickly enough, forcing her balance off and stepping onto the crack. She let out a small shriek and fell, grabbing at the person near her to try to stop herself.
Only it was to no avail and she landed square on her butt, sitting directly over the crack she'd tried so hard to avoid. Hissing in pain she looked up at the person she'd nearly run over with a small glare. I swear if something bad happens. "Don't you know it's bad manners to just stand in the middle of the sidewalk?" She grunted, still in shock over the fall.

Raine Constantine was out, because Raine was always out somewhere. She seldom missed a chance to walk around, scouting out new venues and shops and always looking for the best of anything possible. Even if she didn't necessarily wear high tops, or eat hamburgers, she still wanted to know where these things could be found. Raine was, at that moment, jotting down some very neat handwritten notes in the margins of a book she was holding: it was a guide to the city, and she used it to record her findings. At the back, in the Notes section, she always recorded her own personal index. The index marked down what she'd found, what it was called, and the page on which its address and marker could be found inside the guide book.
She was, as she always was nowadays, wearing a binding shirt under her white dress shirt, the shirt tucked into high waisted black jeans. Apart from a thin gold necklace, her gold signet ring and one gold stud in her ear, Raine was otherwise unadorned. She was very absorbed in the book as she walked, and didn't see the pink-haired girl. It was perfectly likely she'd paused to flip to the Index and jot down the page number of her latest discovery: a little cafe mostly dark inside, with ornate tables and tall stained-glass windows. It was beautiful, certainly.
The hiss of pain, and the bump as Raine and the stranger collided made it apparent she'd been inelegant, which she loathed. Raine masked her displeasure with herself behind an apologetic smile, tucking her book into the bag at her side and reaching one slender, pale hand down to offer it to the pink-haired girl. "I'm terribly sorry; you're quite right, it is awful manners. I am Constantine. Raine Constantine. Please accept my apology, and perhaps my assistance?" Raine asked her, tilting her head so that her hair parted away from her face better, still offering one hand.
"I am not usually so clumsy; something must have gotten into me," Raine apologized. It was unlike her; usually her swiftness was instinctual. She made a mental note to be more careful that day, rather than risk harming anyone else. And then something occurred to her, because the stranger was cute.
"Please forgive me if this is uncomfortable, but perhaps you would allow me to treat you to something delicious in apology?" She suggested, "I really would feel better about causing you harm if you allowed me to take you out somewhere."
