It looked as if there'd been a war on the front lawn of the reaper's dorm. A beat up motorcycle laid on the ground, the front tire looking distinctly wrong. There was a blonde ghoul with dirty, torn up clothes and a guilty look on her face, and there was Roch, who was taking the bike apart.

"Y'forgot to turn," Roch said dryly.

"Si, hermano," Terra said. She was looking for someone--anyone--to distract him from the mangled mess that she had made of his motorcycle. "But I thought I could make it!"

"Why didn't I get you a dirt bike to train on?" Roch moaned.

"Oh! That fellow, he has purple hair!" she said abruptly. "His is a friend of yours, no?" she said as she caught sight of Kettil. "Hola!! Hii! Mi hermano--my brother, he wishes to talk to you! It is very important!" she yelled--then darted into the dorms, leaving Roch looking up blankly.

And remembering Kettil.

Well, then, he thought, looking at the other boil. He wondered if Terra had any clue that the guy had declared him dead, once. Either way, Terra was going to get SUCH a noogie for this, he thought.

Pales
He'll talk seriously, I swear<3 But this seemed the easiest opening to force him into it!

Kettil had gone out for a few hours just to restock food and drinks and to buy a couple of other things as well. For the most part he wasn't really paying attention to anyone that was in front of the Reaper dorms much less looking for anyone in particular. He had slung the bags of his victorious shopping trip over his shoulder and was essentially spaced out.

Until someone called out to him. The voice of a ghoul caused his head to turn toward where she once stood and ...Roch.

His demeanor changed entirely then. The boil's expression became flat and unenthused as he wandered over toward where Roch sat with the mangled remains of a bike nearby. There was no sympathy, no smiling, and quite simply an air of slight annoyance to the Muut, "...What is it you want, Roch?"

Perhaps Roch wasn't as dead to Kettil as previously thought. At least he didn't start off with name calling straight away.

"Looks like a new front tire," Roch said, sighing and sitting down on the ground. "Nice to see you lookin... alive, Kettil. It's been a while." And it had, he thought abruptly. The whole blow up with Kettil seemed like a lifetime ago. He started digging through his pockets, pulling out a wrench and starting to take the front wheel off.

"Y'know," he said as he got into a crouch to work on his bike. "I figure I should apologize," he said, glancing up at the other boil. "I acted like a d**k, back then. You'd pissed me off a bit--which, I ain't gonna lie, can be easy to do, and I pulled a dirty trick. So I'm sorry." He sounded sincere. "I'd probably off a guy for doin' that in front of my ghoulfriend, so I can't blame you for gettin' pissed, too."

He went to the other side of the bike, working on the second set of bolts. It seemed almost as if he expected the other boil just to walk away.

The boil tilted his head slowly and actually took a moment to listen to everything that was said. For the most part Kettil simply avoided Roch or simply didn't talk to him but today he was feeling generous. He reached up a free hand and flicked a thumb over his nose and his dark green eyes tilted skywards, "We were both dicks, prolly. I was mad not because of who was there but because I didn't really start it. I just wasn't gonna play the 'pretend I don't know you' game, I wasn't gonna play Lar that way."

Before he was going to accept or return apologies he was going to at least let Roch in on what was going through his mind at the time.

"As far as what came out that day, I hadn't had the chance to talk to her about our meeting much less anythin' else. I got kinda pissed because you were draggin' her into our business. She deserved to know but not like that," Kettil went on quietly with a small shift of his shoulders. "We weren't datin' at that time but we did for a bit after that...It...Didn't work out," his voice took on a bit of a hurt tone, he couldn't help it. The relationship ended amiably enough but it still hurt that it had failed.

The Muut cleared his throat, "Either way. I'm sorry, too. We were bein' boils. Boils are dicks by nature. Especially 'round ghouls."

"I don't know about you, man, but I don't even need ghouls for that t'happen," Roch said with a little grin. He pulled out his eyephone, texting someone quickly. "Looks like I'm gonna haveta take this to pop's," he said thoughtfully, poking the bent wheel with a sigh.

Then he looked at Kettil again. "Sucks that it didn't work out, man," he said sympathetically. "It ain't easy, especially when you're in this school." Maybe he could hammer it back into shape, he thought. Otherwise he was going to have to call Bruno and hook up a suspension set up in the back of the truck. "Do y'still talk to her?"

Kettil didn't confirm or deny whether or not Roch was an a** with or without ghouls around. To be honest the boil didn't know Roch all that well and usually he refrained from judgments. He sucked in a breath and let it out with a shrug, "I dunno. I am usually pretty easy goin' and stuff no matter who is around me. I just ...I got a protective streak."

Letting that go was like asking Kettil to not be himself for an hour.

There was a blank look at the busted bike and then he turned his attention back toward Roch, "I ... haven't talked to her since she sent me a letter and I sent her one back. I'm giving her time to work through stuff and what not..."

Shifting his footing he finally moved closer and crouched down near the bike, "...You need some sort of help with this? I mean I am not a mechanical genius but..."

Roch looked at the bike, shaking his head. "What I SHOULD be doin' is haulin' my lil sister's sneaky a** back here an' forcin' her t'help," he said bluntly. "She totally used you t'escape punishment, you know," he pointed out. But there was a grin on his face. "An' once Pop finds out she's the reason he's gonna laugh his a** off at me. But yeah, an extra pair of hands could be useful."

He motioned the other boil over. "Can you put this on the ground over there for me?" he asked, offering the front wheel. "I'm going t'haveta put the body down, but ain't no point in screwin' up a good paint job if y'don't gotta," he said.

Pales
It's fine! That same thing just happened to me recently.

"Prolly would be the better idea," Kettil drawled quietly. There was a small chuckle as Roch pointed out that Kettil had been used for someone's escape plan and he simply drew his shoulders into a shrug, "It needed to be done. I mean we're growin' up supposedly, seems silly to hold grudges."

Kettil moved into position and started to help Roch with moving the bike where he wanted it. His hands firmly gripped the front wheel as he pulled it along.

"Y'can say that again," Roch said as he brought his phone to his ear. "Yo, Bruno--yes--no, the jackin' playboil wasn't mine--they did? Yeah, I'm not surprised--but I need t'ask you a favor--ok, fine, one free night of pupsitting--no. No. Fine. Can y'bring the truck and some rope? Yeah, my bike got crashed. No, not t'Gramps', to Pops'. Why? Because he's the guy with the tools t'fix it. Yeah. Twenty's fine," he said, sighing and hanging up.

"Looks like I'm waitin'," he said, gently sitting the bike down on its side and sitting down next to it. "Thanks for the help," he added, resting his forearms on his knees.

Kettil only knelt by the wrecked bike at this point, thoughtfully poking at the debilitated wheel as if it was about to answer some all important question for him or he was just trying to be polite and not listen to the phone conversation.

There was little else he could helpfully do at this point. Give him a building with a bad roof or a hole in the wall and he could patch it up no biggie, but this was an exotic thing to the Muut. When Roch addressed him once more he actually had a small smile and shrugged, "I'm useful for something I guess. If it makes you feel any better I know how much of a pain siblings can be, got several back at home."

Small pause.

"Not that I know how that could make anyone feel better..." He rubbed the back of his neck.

"Several, huh?" Roch said, looking at him curiously. "I was raised as a single child--I guess y'could call it bein' raised, at least. I didn't get Terra till just a lil while ago--didn't even know about her," he said a bit obscurely. "How d'you... DEAL with a sister?" he asked. "For the most part I've been makin' it up as I go along."

Poor Terra.

Kettil tapped his chin a little, "DEAL with them? I dunno if that is the right term for that," he said quietly. "Y'just do what y'do for anyone you care about, y'know? You make sure no one hurts them, if they are younger you make sure they stay on the right path. You listen to them if they need to talk to you and," he sort of made a open armed gesture that ended with a shrug, "you hold them when they are scared. Like any other ghoul, just a bit different."

He sort of rubbed his cheek after that, "I dunno. I guess you just let her know she went out of line with you and if she can't deal with that then that's tough for her. There's a lot of trust and respect that can go into that sorta thing, y'know?"

Ice Queen
Sorry if none of this makes sense. I am sort of running on no sleep at this point. 8D <3

"Eh, the bike," he said, motioning to it--"hell, I dunno, I wrecked the first time I tried to drive, too--course I was about ten, but she's what, fourteen, fifteen?" he said. "But she barely knew what a computer was, so I don't see her havin' tried it that often--or at all. But I WILL make her come an' help put it back t'gether," he decided. "She can at least learn the difference between a socket wrench an' a screw driver."

And he was perfectly willing to haul her butt over his shoulder if she didn't want to go, he thought in amusement. "I dunno, I guess I can figure it out," he said. "I haven't broke her yet."
