Magic. What all Stars speak of in tales, among many other things, and what fantasy setting would be complete without it?

That said, however, rules do apply. Yes, rules, because this isn't a knife fight. Even in the real world, those who claim to practice magic, whether you believe it or not, operate under rules, and RPGs also organize magic by set-in-stone rules.

What can be found within are rules for different types of magic, organized and explained to the best of our abilities. More may be posted over time, so keep a weather eye out for when the shop staff do something interesting that may affect what is known and possible of magic in the shop.

If you have a type of magic that is not listed here, but you want to use it, please contact me, and I will work it out with you and post it here, if we agree to it.

.:Breed Magic:.

Breed magic as is known at present is broken down in to five branches by the five different breeds known to practice it. Except in the case of Alcors, magic grows over time and with practice. Therefore, if your Star doesn't use magic in RP, their magic doesn't grow, and they may never get the full usage of their powers. Please be aware of this in RP.

.:Arcturus - The Magic of Healing:.

The greatest treasure of the Arcturai is a gift that resides in their horns. An Arcturus has the ability to heal others.

- Low Levels: Heal minor cuts, bruises, and abrasions
- Mid Levels: Heal up through major cuts, bruises, and abrasions; heal minor illnesses and injuries
- High Levels: Heal up through major illnesses and injuries
- Cannot: Raise the dead. Absolutely not.

.:Arion - The Magic of Size:.

Perhaps the most whimsical sort of all magic. Arions have the ability to change size.

- Low Levels: Shrink down to the size of a fox cub once every few days
- Mid Levels: Shrink down to the size of a fox cub at any time; shrink down to the size of a butterfly once every day or two
- High Levels: Shrink down to the size of a butterfly at any time
- Cannot: Grow beyond real size. Couldn't fly at all, anyway.

.:Genie Nova - The Magic of the Wish:.

Certainly the most fabled magic below RP elderhood. Genie novae have the ability to grant wishes of others, with certain rules applying.

- Limitations: Cannot make others fall in love. Cannot raise others from the dead. Cannot grant more wishes. Cannot grant *own* wishes.
- Moral Rules: Will not kill others. Some break this rule, but most do not. It's a moral choice that could have major consequences, or so genies believe.

- Low Levels: A minor wish once a week
- Mid Levels: A minor wish anytime, a moderate wish once a week
- High Levels: A moderate wish anytime, a major wish once a week
- RP Elder Levels: Any wish, any time, within the limitations and any moral rules
- Cannot: Listed under limitations

.:Solara - The Magic of Smoke:.

An unusual sort of magic, believed to be the faded and weakened form of an ancient ability to breathe fire. Solara have the ability to breathe and manipulate their own smoke.

- Low Levels: Plain-colored, normal-scented smoke, and childlike shapes and feats at will
- Mid Levels: Primary-colored and secondary-colored, slightly aromatic smoke, and greater feats of imagery and manipulation
- High Levels: Any colors and scents, great feats almost to the point of movie-quality imagery and manipulation
- Cannot: Breathe fire or manipulate smoke that is not their own

.:Alcor - The Magic of Form:.

Alcors possess a special magic, in the form of shapeshifting. Unlike other breed magics, they do not change over time, and are instead dependent upon type of Alcor. Please see the Alcor thread here for more detailed information on Alcor magic and types.

.:RP Elder Magic:.

RP elders gain magic by blessing through one of the 13 Signs or another godly Star, as determined by shop staff (Kallysto and myself, mostly). A Star may only use the magic associated with their Sign/godly Star, in addition to any breed magic they may already possess.

The magic of the Signs/godly Stars is elemental magic, and magic that can be done through elemental channels or otherwise offered by their patron/ess.

This is not a complete explanation; expect more details as staff reveals more, ja?

.:Fire - Aries, Leo, Sagittarius:.

This is fire-based magic. What exactly can be done with it will depend upon which of the three Fire Signs one follows, but assume that, as long as it involves fire, it can probably be done. Fire-based RP elders excel at fire magic, but may be weak in other sorts offered by their patron/ess.

.:Earth - Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn:.

This is earth-based magic. What exactly can be done with it will depend upon which of the three Earth Signs one follows, but assume that, as long as it involves earth/stone/plants, it can probably be done. Earth-based RP elders excel at earth magic, but may be weak in other sorts offered by their patron/ess.

.:Air - Gemini, Libra, Aquarius:.

This is air-based magic. What exactly can be done with it will depend upon which of the three Air Signs one follows, but assume that, as long as it involves air, it can probably be done. Air-based RP elders excel at air magic, but may be weak in other sorts offered by their patron/ess.

.:Water - Cancer, Scorpius, Pisces:.

This is water-based magic. What exactly can be done with it will depend upon which of the three Water Signs one follow, but assume that, as long as it involves water, it can probably be done. Water-based RP elders excel at water magic, but may be weak in other sorts offered by their patron/ess.

.:Light/Darkness - Ophiuchus:.

This is light/darkness-based magic. What exactly can be done with it will depend upon the nature of the user, but assume that, as long as it involves light/darkness, it can probably be done. Light/darkness-based RP elders excel at light/darkness magic, but may be weak in other sorts offered by their patron/ess.

.:Special Magic:.

A very small number of Stars possess odd forms of magic due to some other source. These tend to be very small gifts that are used in certain situations and the like. Very little is known about how many types and the full diversity of these magics, but there are tales that agree as to what they involve and their origin.

.:Twins - The Gift of Telepathy:.

The gift of telepathy is a prenatal gift bestowed upon all true twins by Gemini, as a mark of love for twins. True twins can communicate with their twin telepathically from a very early age and their magic does not change much over time. However, it must be noted that not all Stars born in groups are twins, triplets, etc. True twins are Stars who possess the same breed traits, edits, magic below RP elder status, and look alike to each other (palette swapping counts towards "look alike to each other").* If they do not fulfill these criteria, they are not true twins, and thus are not blessed by Gemini with the ability to communicate with each other telepathically.

*These criteria in Stars after 1st Gen are at the discretion of breeding rolls and the colorist's will to color identically-rolled Stars as twins, or near-twins.
