Otto kept very close to the portal outside of the Haunted House. He didn't want to be here alone. Not after what happened here...

He was still covered cuts and scrapes, bruises and a limp when he did move. It would all be gone in another day or so. His Fear Shield was nearly up and running again. Scars? He probably would have them. Add them to the list, really. This was like Hunter badges, really. He was still alive, right?

Luckily, he was only here long enough to mee with someone and bring them back to Deus. A certain assignment he'd been given by a Sun and Moon pair of jerkbags, and a Senior Death hunter b***h.

Sigh.

At least Nuru wasn't dallying for too long. He knew it'd been a week and someone was expecting him. He sighed longingly at the festivities. He wanted to join in... to harass his Zar... but no, not yet. Not until he had the cure to offer him. It could be his Scarentines gift. He was so close now. He dropped everything and grabbed his notebook and made his way back to the haunted house.

As he arrived, he saw Otto immediately. The hunter wasn't messing around, it seemed. He looked back to his notebook. It was full of names and descriptions of fellow students... but none of them seemed to have the symptoms the hunters were looking for. Everyone seemed happy, content, if not a bit nuts. He hoped at least it would be good news to the ghoul who requested it. Perhaps Zar was the last one infected? He'd cure his whole school of this horrible disease, he thought with a smile.

"Ah tried m'bes'," Nuru held the notebook out for Otto. "Is t'cure ready?

Oh thank God. There was the brat now. Otto didn't have to wait too long at all. His nerves calmed down, and he took up the notebook handed to him. "Beats me. Y'gotta talk to the Boss Lady." Otto replied, flipping through the pages.

"Come on, now. Let's get back and y'all can let her know what ya saw." He gestured to the portal, waiting for Nuru to go through before he led him anywhere.

Nuru smiled brightly. He was going to be a hero... twice. A hero times two. A double hero. He nodded eagerly as he moved to leap straight into the portal. If it wasn't ready yet, he'd be crushed, he realized distantly. As he exited the portal back to the lighthouse he Frowned so quickly it could barely be noticed before he was smiling again. Naw. Surely it was ready. It's been a week. She promised.

Welp, the kid looked happy. He guessed. Otto walked in after him, leading the excited puppy out of the lighthouse. He got out his phone and texted the Master b***h lady.

Text From Otto: The dog kid is back. Been a week. He's got a notebook with information in it. Bringing him your way.

"Yer sure excited.." He mumbled as he pocketed his phone, looking over the note book again.

Text from Sam
You better thank me later for this, I'll be in the low-budget interrogation rooms

True to her word, Sam was waiting at the same area she had introduced and talked with Nuru, and inadvertedly Otto, last time. The Death Hunter was currently fiddling with one of the more recent models of cell phone, complete with glossy screen and a growing archive of easily marketable games. She continued playing Bejeweled even as she waited, showing no signs of patience or impatience really.

"Yeah!" Nuru cheered after Otto. He was excited, ridiculously so. "Ah hope ah did a good enough job... so few peoples seemed to fit t'criteria of bein'... well... mabbeh that's good news?" He hoped.

The note book itself was full of strange remarks about specific students Nuru had run into during his week. None seemed to really have the symptoms described... though they all sounded relatively nuts in their own separate ways.

The notes didn't seem all that promising. It was more like their school was plagued with crazy people. That much he knew already. But did that mean Insanity was somehow curing itself, or was this Nuru kid inept at gathering intel? He had full faith in the latter theory.

Otto received the text with a disgruntled noise of lament, leading Nuru to the room they'd all gathered in previously. Otto kept the door open to let him in, following after and setting the notebook down in front of Sam.

He resisted the urge to glare at her for now. He assumed Sam knew what she was doing, for all her cocky ways of going about things. He sure didn't, so while he hated her guts, he had a mild amount of respect for her authority. Kind of on the same level as Caelius, except maybe a little less loathing on account of she had breasts and Caelius didn't.

Sam sighed as her game ran out of moves, tapping the screen with overly long glossy nails a couple more times before turning the device off with a light click. She took a few seconds just to gather her surroundings, see: Otto and Nuru.

"Oh how adorable," Sam's eyes immediately slid to Nuru's notebook, "Why it'll be just like being a real teacher. See Otto, your puppy brought their school book to take notes with, and this is where I really hope either you have incredible photographic memory or the ability to conjure notebooks out from your pockets because archiving all your information is kind of a requirement for our division." She made a clicking noise with her tongue. "Just like, kinda, you know. But whatever, I'm not your mommy or anything so let's just get this over with and we'll talk about payments later."

Sam casually propped her head against one hand, turning her attention back to Nuru. She smiled. "Well the good news is we might have the cure all ready for you! But that depends on what you have written in your notebook there. Now, I know you must have all sorts of fun things written, but I am a busy person and so is Otto over there so remember that you really need to wow us okay. Think of what you're here for, to help us, so we need helpful information."

Nuru watched Otto anxiously reading over his notes, hopeful some of it might have been vaguely good enough. Even though no one in it was properly insane. Aside from maybe the one who appeared to have a penguin obsession.

Nuru entered the room and was immediately watching Sam. His tail wagging when she smiled his way. The tail fell completely dead at the questioning of his notes. He looked worried and then looked down; unable to keep any eye contact, "Well... ah... couldn' realleh fin' annehone wit' t'symptoms you wanted... jus' mah boilfrien'. Everehone else looked happeh an' like they were enjoyin' Scarentines. Ah even asked a few people questions to see if annehthin' looked off... didn't." He wilted, he hoped maybe that was good news like he hoped? The disease is dwindling maybe? Once Zar was cured, it'd be all gone and they could live happily ever after? Please?

Otto leveled an icy blue glare down at Sam. He read the notebook, but he didn't think to copy it down, especially since nothing about it seemed relavant. But maybe his idea of relevance was not up to par. Yeah, he should have copied it down. Meh, he could do it while they were having their chat. His a disgruntled expression he flipped open his phone, putting the information in a note in point form. If he ever ran into these creatures while in a golem, maybe the information would come in handy, after all.

Dammnit, Sam. Why did you have to be right?! Otto wouldn't behave like a happy apprentice, but he'd at least try and learn begrudgingly.

And just like Nuru had mentioned, no one he met had symptoms. Would this put a wrench in everyone's plans? Did he care? Well, he kind of had to care, even if he personally didn't mind one way or another what happened to Nuru. Like it or not, he was part of this assignment now.

He'd have to thank Rep later.

b*****d.

"Are you sure?" Sam looked extremely surprised, though the sarcasm and overexaggerated expression suggested an overly sweet faking. "Because, and well, I hate to say this but you are a hero, and you can't just let the bad guys get away. I am very sure there must be something else you can tell me or," The Death Hunter took out a blue vial, a small object that glowed in various shades of green and blue, "I can't give you this yet. You haven't fully earned it, though I'm always more than happy to well, renegotiate our terms. I'm adaptable." Fake smile.

Somehow, Otto had managed to get a text even though Sam was for all intents and purposes seemingly engaged with Nuru. It read:

Text from Sam

Nuru looked between the two with uncertainty. Hoping he did a good job, hoping with all his heart, and when Sam flashed the vial - hoped even harder. Then she had dropped the bomb on him. His gradually unfurling ears tucked as far down as they could with shame. He failed to meet her gaze. He was a failure. He let everyone down. He should have known.

"Ah tried mah bes'... ah dunno what else t'do...," He finally looked at Sam again but with the saddest look he could muster. "Please help Zah, Ah'll do annehthin'."

Otto was already seeing where this was going. Sam was sort of scary in how she could manipulate the kid with such an overbearingly fake sweetness. He blinked as he felt his phone buzz, quietly checking it while the pair spoke.

. . . Was that a bill? That wasn't a bill was it? Sam wasn't seriously...

He was giving this bill to Rep.

With a disgruntled curling of his lip, he shoved his phone back into his pocket. "Absolutely anythin'?" Otto drawled, both hands shoved deep inside his pockets as he stared down the student. "Well ain't that awful hero like of ya to offer."

Sam made sure to give the offer some thought. It was all about the glamour after all. She hummed and hawwed, examined her nails a bit, fired a text to book a skin care appointment and then turned her attention back to Nuru. "Well, since you asked so nicely, and since you were a pretty nice hero, I'll give you this one absolute last, last chance. This is just this one last time and then I can't make any exceptions. You know how scary my bosses can get if I don't show up with results, so you need to help me too."

A second text was sent out, and this one out of sheer confidence. She looked back up again, picking up the vial and tossing it to Otto. "All right, so my stooge over there, the guy who you've been working with will deal with the complications. Why don't you write down on that paper of yours the name of your friend and where he's located, maybe some small details about him and Mr. Grumpy over there will be your errand boy. It's the least we can do for your work. I'll watch him to make sure he gets it sent properly, I promise, and I never break promises." Smile.

Sam leaned back. "Now, as for this last, last one time deal, well, how do I explain it, it is a little complicated. First you have to have a lot of courage, be really brave, and secondly, you have to trust me, in the same way I trust you to believe in you. Can you do those two things?"
