User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Name: Keionx Rutace
[Keionx= anagram and mutation of Quixote, Rutace=genus of orange]

Blood colour: #cb3e20, Orange

Gender: Female

Symbol: Double Triangle

Personality:

Keionx likes to think of herself as a hero worthy of grand stories of her valiant adventures. As such, she is bizzarely altruistic for a troll. In a world like Alternia, where it is very much Troll-eat-troll-get-eaten-by-everything-else, this makes her dangerously close to grubshitbuggeringly insane. She may not quite be there, but she is at least somewhat low in the intelligence scale.
She makes up for it by being fairly able to carry out her heroic attempts- she is quite strong and happily undergoes a tough regimen of diet and exercise to maintain and improve this strength. She loves to do this. Training makes her feel good, adventuring makes her feel even better, and there are always Oppurtunities to do both on such a dangerous world.

She is, perhaps not unsurprisingly, a huge fan of FLARPing. While not nearly as adept at writing as her twin, she does have some good ideas for adventures, though she shows little creativity when it comes to her character who, of course, is a knight.

Speaking of her twin, she adores him... but doesn't actually know him very well. She tends to pigeonhole people she knows into storybook archetypes. For example, she is the loyal and heroic knight in shining armor, and Zariah is the princess. Accordingly, she has adventures and showers him with whatever gifts she can find.
But, beyond that archetype and a few other small essential things, she doesn't know him well at all. Her ego prevents her from seeing beyond her shallow and artificial view of people.
Being a bit self centered, it is hard for her to understand when something she does might cause problems for others.

The thing is, she isn't a bad person. If someone were to point out something she was doing, and ask her to stop, she would. If someone were to call her out on her stupid social behavior, it would confuse her and she would try to fix it (though she would likely fall back on her old ways because of the complexity). She does try to be polite and honorable and considerate, she just sometimes doesn't understand how.

It isn't that Keionx isn't afraid of anything, its that she charges in to fight anyway. If a troll were willing to get past her annoying traits and befriend her, they would find someone as willing to stand in front of them and fight off danger as they are to charge into it. She really takes this noble knight thing seriously.

Hemospectrumwise, she has no opinion. She's not against it, like her brother is, certainly, but she's not out shouting it's virtues to the moons. The issues around the Hemospectrum are too complicated for her, so she ignores their existence. She follows orders well and as long as she is doing what she loves- adventuring- thats all that matters. Zariah's rage is something she just can't understand, and doesn't try to. In fact, it doesn't even enter her mind.

~~~
She had lived most of her life on Busthind Mountain alone and completely unaware of her wiggling beginnings (aside from her trials). She made a few friends and foes, got into FLARPing at a young age after an unsuccessful and painfully brief foray into fanfic, and gradually explored her mountain home with Beastdad.
She never even knew she had a twin.
On one of her frequent walks with Beastdad, the first that took her as far as the shoreline, she heard a scream and, being the sort of troll she was, she had to investigate and see if there was someone she could rescue.
She galloped over, her lance, (which was her weapon of choice before she switched to sword) in her hand to find that she was too late. Only a puddle of disturbingly orange blood was left. Or so she thought.
Disappointed at having nothing to fight heroically, she was about to move on when Beastdad snuffled at something in the bushes.
An orphaned troll, and therefore an oppurtunity to play at being heroic.
Being slow on the uptake and not particularly observant, it took her a while to realize that the orphaned troll was her twin, especially considering the rarity of twins.
With Beastdad's encouragement, she offered to take her twin, Zariah, home with her.
Why not? It felt good, it felt heroic, and Beastdad wanted to bring him home anyway.
Strengths:
Brave
    Keionx doesn't listen to her fear. She can't! She has always been told that a hero must charge in where others fear to tread, must fight what other's fear to fight, must be the person that others look to in times of need. Yes, this can be exploited by others, easily, but the point is, Kei looks before she leaps, and leaps anyway, sword raised high and a battle cry on her lips.
    Is a big monster attacking another troll? Could it kill her with one flick of it's wrist/appendage? Is it the size of a small city? Does it look like the long lost Alternian cousin of an elder god? Does it have many orifices filled with gnashing teeth and drooling tongues? Does it bleed acid and spit fire (or vice versa?) Would it make her brother run away crying?
    Doesn't matter. Keionx is determined to charge in and save the day.
Stalwart
    Keionx is stubborn, perhaps to a fault, but it is listed as a strength because, where Bravery is her sword, Stalwart is her shield. She will not back down from a fight, and retreat, while not necessarily only for the weak, is only an option when no other option remains.
    When she believes in something, When she cares about something, she stands by it to the bitter end, even at the cost of other objectives.
    Her brother is the most likely example. She feels he needs her constant protection (not entirely unfounded) and in a choice between defending him and vanquishing a great beast, she will make the hard choice to stand by him instead of riding into glory and leaving him behind.
Imaginative
    Keionx is definitely not the smart twin, but she has a rich imagination. The simplest walk can become a marvellous adventure, full of glory and valor and the like.
    She makes up stories, but unlike her brother has trouble writing them down. Telling them on the spot with complicated flourishes is more her style, though she has been known to try to turn her ideas into FLARP campaigns, or tell it to others with lots of flourishes and bows. Shes not bad at telling it verbally, and can be very interesting to listen to. She is, however, a bit amateurish in her word choice. It's writing it down that is her weak point.
Polite
    Keionx may be a rough and tumble young troll, but she speaks well. Or at least Archaically. She draws her speech patterns from old books of fantasy. It sounds a bit odd, and sometimes annoying, but she isn't often rude, and when she is it's hard to tell.
    She speaks in this way because it makes her sound like the storybook characters she so adores and identifies with. It has become so pervasive for her that it has become a habit. She does drop the flowing, flowery act and starts talking like a normal troll when s**t really hits the fan and reality starts impinging on her heroic fantasy. Then, however, there is some awkward politeness to her speech, as if she isn't really used to speaking normally.
Flaws:
Kind of Dense
    Keionx isn't very bright. Really. Creativity aside, it's clear which twin is the brains of the operation, and it isn't her. She certainly isn't book smart, and her social smarts are also lacking. This may also be why her imaginative Virtue sometimes bleeds into the territory of a Flaw- she just doesn't get when she should stop pretending to be the protagonist of a story and start acting like a good little lowblood.
    While she is aware that Zariah is a lot smarter than her, it doesn't bother her in the slightest. You could say shes too dense to care about how dense she is.
    She's a Lawful-stupid fighter, through and through.
Addicted to Heroism
    Beastdad's training aside, she honestly can't help being a hero. She hears someone calling for help, and she just needs to respond, like an addict needs a fix. On the rare occasions where she didn't or can't respond to someone in need, she feels terrible. Downed, depressed, the works. Usually though, the thought that she could leave someone behind doesn't cross her mind. She simply can't do it.
    The simple act of knowing shes a hero gives her the buzz, even when it's met with curses or, sometimes, threats. Beastdad praises her, but its not the outside praise but the internal ego-boosting praise that she thrives on.
    This can be easily taken advantage of, as she will gladly do any task she deems heroic, which does include less glamorous tasks such as finding lost things, moving heavy things, and finding random useless objects for the amusement of highbloods. Her imagination makes each one a rich and wonderful quest, and her own internal (note- INTERNAL) monologue is what she thrives on.
Internal Paranoia
    The reason she has an addiction to heroism is because she needs to feel that she is as strong as she thinks she is. She is afraid that one day she will fail, that someone- despite all her efforts- will undo all the good she has done and destroy all the things she cares about. Her brother worries her. She knows she can never stop protecting him, because he will always need protection. But she also knows, deep under Beastdad's conditioning, that she is not infallible, and her rich imagination is all too happy to provide scenarios of doom and despair should she fall. She often wakes up from nightmares fueled by this and checks in on him, just to make sure that it was all just a dream.
    Zariah is just the greatest example of what frightens her. This extends to everything she holds dear, not just him. In a few words, its a fear of failure, hidden by her ego and brashness. It is one of the reasons, aside from her desire to be like her lusus, that she takes her exercise and diet regimens so seriously.
Overbearing
    She has a big, self centered personality. She's a good person, but her huge ego gets in the way of positive social interactions a lot: she is the hero and therefore she is the star of the story, in the end. She tends to bulldoze others in conversation, and sometimes to not quite listen to others when they speak. Even when she has friends or enemies, she rarely knows them- or bothers to know them- very well at all. Even when they are her Twin, live with her, and she damn well should know him.
Weapon:
Sword and shield!
She is fairly certain that her sword is mightier than her twin's pen, and more capable of protecting him.
Home: She shares her hive with Zariah, and its clearly built more for her than him.
Built into a cavern system in Busthind Mountain (which also contains a few other hives), it's full of training equipment and all of the doors are weighted... heavily weighted to Zariah's dismay. She usually has to open doors for him, and since he moved in doorstops have made an appearance in her hive. The thing is, leaving doors open lets in drafts, and kei- in a rare moment of eco-friendliness, likes to keep her doors closed. She doesn't seem to realize that this inconveniences her brother (though his personal area of the hive is fairly open), and he doesn't really speak up about it.
There are booby-traps of various sorts everywhere, designed to keep her on her toes, as a strong warrior should be. Being a bit thick, she, again, hasn't realized how inconveniencing these are for her brother, though she took care to remove them from his section of their hive. Some examples include a treadmill at the entrance, a timed porticullus that must either be bypassed with speed or strength (not super speed or strength, though), Tripwires, falling floors (only a few feet, nothing too bad), and the occasional average weight sturdy urn or book falling off of a bookshelf.
It's sparsely decorated save for FLARP accoutrements haphazardly 'arranged' along the walls and in the trophy room.
Her recouparoon is in said trophy room, moved there after Zariah took her old room,
probably the most sensible one in the house.
The trophy room contains interesting things from her 'adventures' and 'patrols', as well as things from FLARPing campaigns. She is very proud of her trophy room, and likes to remind herself of at least some of her adventures before she goes to bed. Its a bit cramped, but she can handle it, so long as her 'princess' brother has the 'nice' room.
Lusus:
[A rare orangeblooded musclebeast, beastdad has lovingly rasied Keionx to be a hero.]
He may be a younger specimen of the species, but Beastdad is very dedicated to his job. Even with an unheard of two trolls to take care of, he has nobly risen to the occasion, or at least gives double parenting a damn good try.
He is an adventurous musclebeast, with the typical nobility and pride that comes with his kind, though he is of a rare low blood color for a musclebeast. He holds these traits; Pride, nobility, and also the physical strength that his kind is known for, very highly, though he has also fairly recently included the concept of 'honor' in this list. If he was not parenting a troll, he would be out having grand adventures himself. But he does have Keionx, and so he is trying to raise her in his image. He has encouraged Keionx in her many heroic exploits and freely provides her with musclebeast milk. He even cooks hearty meals (from things they scrounge on Busthind) to promote muscle growth and strength.
Beastdad could be said to be rather harsh on Keionx. While he tries to give her plentiful 'power food' and a great deal of personal attention, the exercise regimen and constant rugged adventuring is gruelling and exhausting. He pushes her hard with very little breaks- the world is harsh, and, on Alternia, a hero has to be able to weather the worst of it.
Keionx doesn't mind: she loves every moment of it. Beastdad is her role model, and she wants to be as strong and heroic as he is, and as he wants her to be. She drinks all her milk, eats all her food, and does what beastdad tells her to do, because she knows it will make her strong.
While he loves Zariah as if the little troll were his own from the very beginning, Zariah is not as strong as his Keionx and he clearly isn't going to be a warrior hero like his sister. Thus, an alternative treatment has been found: Beastdad spoils Zariah as much as possible, and encourages Keionx to do the same. This has led to a new motivation for adventure: Find something sparkly and nice for Zariah.
Beastdad is very proud of Keionx. He feels she is growing up well. He is also proud of Zariah, too, but he finds it very difficult to understand the quiet and intelligent troll. Still, Zariah tells good stories, and Beastdad can be a good listener when he wants to be. Usually while Keionx is training.
Power: NONE HAHAHA
a few of her traits and flaws are very small compared to the others. i get that it's easier to write on some of them, and it isn't really a problem. if you're interested in adding a little more to them, or want some extra things to think about, here are a few things to try and consider.
imaginative - does keionx understand when to turn the stories off, or is she so immersed in them that she doesn't realize when it's dangerous to stay in character? is she a good storyteller, the kind who can draw her audience in?
polite - why does keionx speak in this way? does she think it makes her sound more like a proper knight? or did she never actually learn to speak the modern way, only paying attention to the dialogue in books and not how actual trolls around her spoke? if it is something she consciously does, an 'act', then when she's sufficiently upset does she drop back into modern troll?
kind of dense - does this bother her? or does she consider books to be the 'path of the scribe' and not important to her? does she respect trolls who are more intelligent, or does she place brawn over brains?
addicted to heroism - what part of helping people gives her the buzz? is it their thanks and praise at the end, arriving and seeing the relief on their faces, etc? does she only respond to trolls in physical danger, or is she the kind of troll to help out with other things as well, such as helping find a lost toy, moving heavy objects, or other less glamorous tasks?
if not, quote me and i can stamp.
