Maddy decided he had had enough of the stuffy dorms and made his way towards the common area. Time to discover just what this place was made of.

The room itself was gorgeous. Though not exactly in his own taste, it was lavish nonetheless. Certainly worthy of any demon, even the lowest class. The boil's tail flicked gently, silver bracelets jingling as he took in the room with curious and critical eyes. His gaze fell to one of the high-backed chairs, and the robed demon who occupied it. Well, okay, to be honest, the first thing he noticed was the clothing. The pattern, specifically. His papà had been commissioned just such a design—

"Impeccable outfit you have there," he remarked, taking a casual seat opposite the boil, legs and arms folding in with ease. "One of my family's designs no less. I would recognize those fabrics anywhere, even if the pumpkin sun went dark." He tilted his head slightly, ever the pompous and proud demon, and stared the other cooly in the eye. Awaiting a reaction.

After a seemingly long day, since every day in a new place drug on twice the usual length, Molan had decided to rest in the somewhat quiet commons room. It was away from his brother and allowed him to just watch a bit as fellow residents of the dorm came and went. Which was closer to his normal habits, thus leaving a nice content feeling behind with it. It was almost as if he'd never left home.

Well, not really, seeing as it was still a ton of strangers wandering about in their business.

A low sigh escaped him as he slumped further into the chair, closing his eyes a moment as he merely took in the feel of the room again. Large enough to feel open, but stuffy enough to be kept warm for those who preferred it. The furniture was nice and in style, rather soft too if the chair he'd chosen was an indicator for the other items as well. Honestly, if he'd wanted he could have taken a nap here in quieter conditions. Not that he would, it was merely an observation. The room wasn't too musty either, someone probably cleaned it regularly to keep it feeling fresh. As for decor, not as stellar as his father; or was it mother, had chosen for home, but still redeemable. The entire building was certainly more up to par than most when it came to style. Which is why it did feel a little comforting to be in the room.

Sometimes.

He'd only just opened his eyes at the sound of a voice and steps, looking over to the dark haired boy curiously as he spoke. Oh? His family? That would make him... he narrowed his eyes a bit, thinking just which group it was. A Leandre, right? This outfit had been commissioned a bit back for him as a gift if he recalled, from a popular family that was known for it's trade. Which meant this boy was from that group?

Well that just meant it was a small world. Or this school really was for the elite. More than likely something of both. "So, that would make you a Leandre?" He inquired, shifting to sit up as he eyed the boy, noting how he held himself. His exterior appearance seemed to match the class he was suggesting he was from anyway. "To recognize something after time, your family takes great pride in their work." Otherwise they would likely dismiss each order from their minds shortly after completion of the project. Actually, it was a bit pleasing to think they cared. Sort of similar to how hand-made bells held extra meaning to him. He'd have to take care not to ruin their hard work somehow in his time at the school. "Your family always does amazing work for ours, father always speaks highly of you." Which was true, even if his tone had taken his usual one reserved for social gatherings and events. That sweet 'we get along so well' polite bit did get old quickly enough though.

Maddy kept his gaze even, emotionless as the boil's eyes sized him up. His arms shifted, gripping to the clawed rests of his chair as he situated himself a bit more properly. "Yes, I am. Maddox Leandre to be precise, but you may simply call me Maddy."

His tail twitched slightly as he listened with newfound interest. The briefest hint of emotion lit in Maddy's eyes at mention of his family's prowess, and his voice retained a tone of pride. "I hold the utmost confidence in my family's skills. We have worked hard to become the business we are." He was proud of his family. Proud of all that they had accomplished. He simply didn't see the need in being tutored on the basics of FEAR when his heart lay in the hands-on of business. But that was another matter entirely. His attention shifted back to the fellow demon. "Ah, on behalf of my family, I am very glad to hear it is to your liking. ... He is a politician, is he not, your father??" Maddy's curiosity was now genuinely piqued, and he leaned forward in his chair a bit, tail flickering back and forth against the side of his seat.

The fellow demon held himself well enough, and his tone indicated their family held some of the same rules. Who knew if it was as strict as his own, but Molan could appreciate the action taken, and a lightly nod of acknowledgement as offered to him as he spoke. It was the norm to shorten their names, so he thought nothing of the nickname really. "A pleasure to meet you then. I am Molan Threepwood." His tone was calm, obviously not too concerned. This was all normal. Actually, such interactions were likely easier than trying to be casual.

There was actually a good bit of grounding for the confidence the boil spoke of, seeing as they were known to be some of the best. Expensive and worth every silver pumpkin seed. Affording such things was the real trick for most, but old money and family traditions seemed to have taken care of that for their own family for a long time. It wasn't even worth batting more than a lash at once in a while. "And with such effort you've earned the name you have." He merely offered a delicate smile at the comment before nodding at the question. He was a bit surprised, the Leandre's seemed rather good at remembering even the smaller more obscure details with jobs. A good trait, but one rarely found. A bit charming really. "Indeed, you have quite the memory." It was a compliment, fairly genuine as well. He found many didn't bother to keep such notes. "He was working on some new laws regarding passport regulations and rulings before I left for Amityville Academy." It was interesting work, but most details weren't offered to him. In truth their father had opposed the changes was the most he knew. What they were? Well.. case closed and hush hush, even if his father wanted both children to take up the same profession he couldn't tell them everything. Who knew where that would go, but it seemed important enough.

So much so their father had once again spent most of his time missing again. But that was the norm, he was used to it.

Threepwood, yes that was it. The name did sound familiar. Maddy eased himself a bit, just a hint of the strain of formality disappearing from his figure as he considered Molan's words. It was true he had always been a sharp boil, and gotten rather satisfactory marks on his private exams. Maybe something could be said of the Cait Sith as well, that they retained a good memory. Either way, he only nodded politely in response.

"Passport regulations??" Maddy arched a brow curiously as the isukun continued. Passports. They were their own form of social status as it were, and practically every student's dream to earn one, so naturally he was intrigued. And he of course, not being in the profession, had little clue that Molan knew only about as much as him. "That must be fascinating, to be able to dictate such things. It makes the fashion business seem almost laughable. But then, I suppose even powerful politicians must dress for the occasion??" He smiled ever-so-slightly, a faint and cold, but somehow kind smile. A sign of mutual respect.

Molan accepted the brief gesture as a reply, not feeling any need to go into it further. Flattery in ridiculous amounts would only be seen as shallow and empty praise. Besides, as much as he knew who the family was, he didn't know too much about them. Best not to let that cat out of the bag. No puns intended. He knew they were a high end family who made remarkably tasteful clothing, and that he himself had to agree. He had a few things from them, but that was about it. The finer details of their history were lost on him, and thankfully it didn't seem the fellow boil was going to ask about it.

Ah, and now they were onto his father's work. Well it would seem fascinating to others most likely. To him it wasn't nearly as interesting as it once had been. The bill they were working on was likely one that someone had tried to pass before and been shot down. Altered a few lines and was trying again. He'd heard the grumblings more than a few times. "It's, interesting I suppose." He replied thoughtfully, tilting his head a bit at the comment in regards to the fashion industry. He shifted in the chair, sitting up a bit more straight out of habit. Anytime 'business' came up he'd just learned to try and look as respectable and serious as possible, so the topic sort of triggered that side of him. Something his father would have been oh so proud of. "They both have their finer details I believe. Politics can be as repetitive as any other thing at times? And on both sides, you are performing a necessary work for society." In short, both things were valid. But he wasn't going to go into it too much further. Really, the long and short ended when it came down to the fact his father just wanted them as politicians for the prestige of it. The 'see it's in the blood' so to speak feel. Having them succeed in the same field would be a boost to his own reputation and the families. "I'm not always sure if I'd rather do what father does." He added, trying to prove the point that it wasn't all it seemed to be. Work was work after all.

Reflecting on his own work experience, limited that it was, Maddy supposed Molan's ideals were true. While he wasn't always the most easily sociable boil, he did pride himself in working hard to create a masterpiece worthy of the client. But he did note a hint of something else in the boil's demeanor.

Was a politician's duties really so burdensome?? ... Maddy was certain it could be a bit uneventful at times, repetitive with the passing and vetoing of bills he assumed went on. At least for his family there was the occasional mattinee, or soiree, or even the occasional luncheon to break the cycle of work.

"If I may ask, what are your other interests Molan??" He responded politely, curious now.

Perhaps it was obvious. Molan didn't hate his father's work, but he didn't find much reason to praise it either. In a way, being near it, he knew all too well there was corruption to be found in any form of politics. While his father was not particularly bad, he saw things society didn't and knew things he probably shouldn't. So even though his father did do his best to be an upstanding vision of perfection, things slipped. Demons would be demons just the same as monsters would be monsters. And each person was only well... they could make mistakes. And when you were in power people didn't tend to forgive mistakes. So they never got out to see the light of day, but family tended to know about skeletons in the closet. Intentional ones or not.

So his opinion was just a bit low. They did good, yes. A needed evil, but too often he saw things swept away so to speak. It never pleased him.

He looked up at the question, leaving his own thoughts as that ever pressing matter was brought up. Right. What he wanted to do. He, really wasn't too sure and often avoided the question, but that would mean going back to the previous subject. Just as tricky. "I..." He paused, musing over his words a moment, still unsure of himself as he spoke. "-enjoy studying things. Learning how they work, finding order in the world." It was an ambiguous, sort of open reply. Not that specific, but it seemed fair enough. His eyes studied the Cait Sith, waiting for any show of what he thought on the reply. Though he did choose to add a bit more after a moment. "Though, I am certain my father would be thrilled if I followed in his steps. Is your family the same?" He somewhat assumed as much, but there was a chance they intended to do something different? He was here studying after all.

Studying things, finding order?? ... Maddy's tail flicked as he pondered the boil's answer. Such interests seemed right for a politician's family. And Molan had certainly come to the proper place. This was an academy after all. "Maybe you could even get a small job here at the school in the meantime, if you wish?? ..." He offered. Though he knew as much as the other boil, it would have to be quite hush-hush. Working in a family business was at times a very stressful and always expectant profession. If word got out he was seeking a secondary job before he even took the throne so to speak, who knows what the local papers would have to say about it.

He arched a brow, and actually allowed a small smile to curl his lips. "My family is quite expectant of me. I must know all levels of fashion, from designs, to tailoring, even to the more delicate matters of business. Such as finances." His tail flicked slightly, as he settled back into his chair. "We also pride ourselves in being outstanding citizens as well as businessmen. And for that reason, I am here." He finished with slight flourish to the school around them.

Molan had never really considered his interests fitting. He saw politics as something of a fight for control, so his preference to being a bystander seemed the opposite of what was necessary to succeed at such a task. Which lead to the boy finding himself to be incompatible with the profession beyond what he managed. In the long run he only saw misery if he followed in his father's footsteps. Such wouldn't happen. He wouldn't bring shame to their family, but the chances of him choosing to deal with such things on a daily basis were slim, and closer to none. Pale ears perked a bit at the mention of a potential job within the academy, obviously peaking the demon's interest despite the fact it could be scandalous. "It could be intriguing, a good learning experience." He chose his words carefully, watching to make it seem profitable rather than a mere whimsical fancy of his own. While Maddy seemed a reasonable boil, not nearly as stuck up in his own ways as many of the families he'd run into at parties with his father, there was still a chance of it being a trap. He merely needed to hold his tongue on certain matters.

Even if Molan was never meant to take up his father's place to begin with. That was Etzer's job.

Brilliant blue once again focused on the Cait Sith as he spoke up again, this time talking of his own families demands. While he didn't let it show on his face, it was nice to know others had just as many demands placed on them. Refreshing to say the least. Perfection was the word of the day in every elites family it seemed. While Maddox seemed fair more pleased with his families rulings, he still had a high bar set. In that way that could at least understand each other. "A complete understanding of all then." He replied, a quick gander being given to the room at the flourish before he settled back on the demon. "Is that not what every family demands of us." He added sounding a bit amused as he shifted to be a bit more comfortable in his chair. Honestly, if nothing else. He was sure the boil 'got it' when it came to their delightfully complicated lives. Balancing family demands with personal wants. "All the best in finding a how to balance your scale as well." He added, tilting his head to one side while waiting for a reply.

Honestly, he thought that, so long as Maddox wasn't out to get something from it, the two probably understood each other well. They could even get along assuming they both knew to keep the politics of society out of it.

Maddy's tail swished gently, inwardly pleased the boil found his idea appealing. He nodded silently in answer to Molan's statement, wondering for himself what experiences the school might have offer. His parents even swore by it as the best in Halloween, but ... Maddy wasn't quite yet convinced.

He turned his attention back towards the present and nodded again, a curiously wry grin glimmering across his lips a brief moment. "The wiles of being at the top of the proverbial chain, one could say." He listened as Molan continued, before shifting in his chair, leaning forward again with a light nod. "The same to you. And, if there is ever anything you need on the fashion-front, I'd be honored to lend a hand." Fashion was his forte after all, and extending his services could only ensure his family's reputation.

A few light flicks of his own tail greeted the nod. Ironically their parents had similar thoughts of the school, even if they hadn't mentioned it. His father, grandfather, and well further back. They'd all chosen this academy for furthering their educations. Always this one. No other would do. It was peculiar really, he wasn't unimpressed, nor so impressed either. Merely still sitting at a neutral stance to how much he'd actually benefit from this.

When Maddox did speak up again he truly hit the nail on the head. It was the curse of sorts that anyone who was to be considered higher up would face. Eyes were on them at all times, so perfection was to be expected. "Truer words are rarely spoken." He replied smoothly, lifting a hand to smooth a fold on his other sleeve idly, though his gaze soon fell back on the other boil as he suddenly leaned forward a bit to speak. Oh, a nice proposition. Actually, perhaps not so much for him, but...

A light smile played it's way across his face as a thought emerged, he shifted a bit, elbows rested on the arms of the chair, however he folded his hands to place his chin atop them, watching the Cait Sith closely. "I will keep that in mind, however..." He let his voice trail off to silence a moment, musing over how to put it. "-perhaps you might like to meet my brother. I am certain you would have things to say he'd find of interest." After all, Etzer quite loved the world of fashion as a whole, seeming to take to designing clothes a bit. Who better to get advice from than one of the master families? "You see, he dabbles a bit in the trade, though not as skilled. Certainly he'd be pleased to meet you?" Ah yes, and political connections of sorts too. Always a secondary plus.

Maddy's eyes glimmered icily at the boil's response. It wasn't a straightforward answer, though it wasn't exactly a denial either. A part of him almost found it indignant that the other might refuse his kindness; it wasn't every day a fashion tycoon extended their hand after all. But before he could really form a definite opinion on this, the realization of Molan's proposal hit him. He was suggesting they mingle?? There were many outcomes that could come from such a meeting. If his brother was really in on the fashion industry, this could provide a solid bond between the families. And perhaps he could do some mentoring and learn a bit himself from the other. It was an intriguing offer.

A smile slowly unfurled itself along his lips. "I would be honored to meet him. If you can send him my way the next time you see him. I'm sure there's much we could learn from each other."
