Maslin was leaving Ayr feeling pretty good about the trip. He'd learned how he had to handle Ayrala dragons and successfully defeated one. He'd also found some interesting looking mineral and ore deposits that would be worth coming back to investigate at least once. For now though he just wanted to go home and sleep. Dragon hunting was exhausting work and Maslin had never been one for physical activity.
Over the years he'd been forced into more of it than he'd like but he was still no trim warrior. His mother said he was healthy now just not fit, as long as he was functional Maslin was happy with his body. He'd even become a little more comfortable with his wings which , while they did not support his body for any sort of extended flight where large and strong enough now to allow him to glide on occasion. Not that he had them out now, the winds of Ayr were too strong for him to use them and they'd only give the gusts more of him to blow against.
The young man was pulled from his thoughts when he heard an eerie screech from above and looked up to see a small lone Ayrala. There was something menacing in it's eyes as it tucked it's wings to it's body and swooped down.
Maslin swore pulling his scepter out and sending forth a wall of blindingly bright light. He didn't want to fight anymore, he just wanted to go home. Perhaps if he too became hard to attack the dragon would fly awa-
The wind died down just as the sound of body meeting ground and bones snapping echoed throughout the area. The light of his spell faded and Maslin found himself standing a few feet away from a dragon corpse that was already beginning to magically decay. It was an unexpected victory and Maslin felt little cheer about it. Still, perhaps he could sell the resulting soul for materials for his next project.
