A little before noon, Nahm ambled up to Zar's door and rapped lightly. Snacks? Yep. Bothering an uptight yet interesting demon? Yet more interesting. Might be more interesting yet if he could pry the boil out of his room. That might be an ongoing project, though, he reflected.

Zar was awake and sitting at his desk as always. For whatever reason, it had been getting harder and harder to focus lately. Whereas paperwork had formerly sustained him like air, losing himself between the lines and lines of text, mental autopilot, running on words rather than thoughts, a mere tool translating meaning across.
The knock jarred him out of it immediately, and he was almost guilty how eager he was to leave his task behind to answer the door. He was tidily dressed today, and looked a little less lined, a little younger than before.
"Hello~" he purred.

Nahm gave Zar a wide, toothy grin. "Hi there," he purred back. "Lookin' good, I gotta say. How's the work going? In need of a shredder, or just a little break? Maybe both?"

Zar inclined a brow slightly at Nahm, a curl of curiosity slithering into his tail. "Work is going well" he lied. It didn't do to admit he'd been having issues focusing. "And thank you. My attire from before was rather unsuited to day to day wear." He couldn't remember how he'd gotten into such a mess and allowed it to happen. "There is a pile of papers there if you like." he gestured to a stack almost up to waist height "But there is no hurry."
Going out usually involved risking life and limb, it was usually terrible. "Did you have something in mind for a break?"

"Anything that needs immediate disposal?" Nahm tilted his head slightly, regarding the stack with interest. "You been getting stuff done, I ought to come round more often, heh."
His grin widened a little at the flicker of interest in Zar's attitude. "Just thinking maybe you could use some lunch. Just about lunchtime, isn't it? Might you be hungry?"

"Nothing immediate, everything can wait." he said, almost scandalised at himself for saying it. Nothing could wait really, nothing could ever wait, every minute wasted was work wasted. But right now, he actually didn't care one bit.
"It's like I say. I'm always hungry. I just don't always have anywhere to eat."

Nahm's eyes widened a little at the statement; he didn't know Zar well, but that seemed an odd statement to come from a dedicated paperwork demon. Nevertheless, it sounded promising. "I know some excellent places to eat," he offered, pleased with the idea. "How does a good juicy steak with some slime ink sauce sound?"

"It sounds..most engaging." Zar said, careful and measured. He didn't sound enthusiastic, but he was. As restless as he felt, getting out for some time would be pleasant. "Not too expensive though I should hope, I am currently. In a temporary time of financial defactiy." Temporary wasn't really the word for it, his father had been stingy to say the least with payment after finding out that Zar had "time to waste cavorting with ghosts". He had been existing on next to nothing. "If that is the case though, I could certainly accompany you."

"It won't empty your wallet," Nahm assured Zar. "I don't like to waste seeds, and sniffing out a good deal's its own kind of fun. Kinda like hunting, in its own way." He moved back a few steps so that Zar could come out into the hall without too much personal space invasion involved.

"Good. Then it is settled. We will venture out for culinary sustenance. " he felt like he could really stand to gain back some of the build he'd had before he switched to a life of most meagre dining. "I am glad it is not literal hunting, that sounds like a far messier business." He tried to ignore the way thoughts of hunting tapped into some primal part of his brain, flashes of eagerness, claws in the darkness. Hardwired instincts that he couldn't rip out no matter how hard he tried.
He stepped out into the hallway and gave Nahm an indulgent smile.
"Lead the way."

"Messier, sure, but some of the best things in life are messy," Nahm purred. He ambled down the hallway, casting a glance over his shoulder. "It's just down into town a little way. I'd offer you a ride, but the ride I have in mind is still confiscated, so we're going to have to walk this time."

Zar made a face as once again instincts came into fierce combat with everything he'd conditioned into himself. Ink, blood, all manner of fluids mingled and twined in his thoughts in a thrilling set of flashes. He pushed them aside forcibly. "I am not keen on being messy." He said curtly. "A disorganised exterior speaks of a disorganised interior." He didn't comment on his own unruly mane of hair and decidedly savage appearance of late, he couldn't help it in the least.
"A ride?" he repeated curiously. He wasn't quite as familiar with colloquialisms, presumably - hopefully - Nahm meant a vehicle rather than the alternative.

"Mess comes off," Nahm grinned. "Clothes are washable, as are bodies. Live or otherwise." He wriggled his fingers. "And isn't half the fun of organization in the performance of the organization?"
He nodded. "A good friend of mine has a motorcycle, which he's as much as given me permission to borrow from time to time. Sadly, it's currently in impoundment after a rather unwise expedition into town." He left out mention of his own part in the adventure he was referring to.

Zar's tail apparently approved of Nahm's sentiments, swishing eagerly, even if Zar himself shook his head. "Appearance and impressions are a pivotal part of business. As much almost at times as the functions and machinations." Still, it was very easy to be swayed by his argument, to want to be swayed by it.
"A motorcycle sounds. Very fast." He wasn't sure how keen he was on anything that set off so many safety issues in his head. "And dangerous, particularly if it managed to get impounded." It was distracting when all his instincts enthused over danger and showoffy behaviour while his trained behaviours protested otherwise.

"Ah," Nahm said, smiling wide enough that his eyes curved visibly, "but sometimes it's useful to appear less competent or organized than one really is. Or more unpredictable or volatile." He inclined his head. "Underestimation is a useful tool in the intelligent being's arsenal."
He held the door of the dorms open for Zar. "After you," he said with an elaborate bow.
