Sun was streaming down through the glass panes on the ceiling, the skylights. Gauvain had decided to make the short walk to the closest local mall, as it had the nicest interior plantlife and a significant portion recreated an ornamental garden; Gauvain just liked being there, when he had too much spare time on his hands. Especially when the warm sun helped keep the unnatural chill he felt at bay.
It was the middle of the day, and although the mall was less populated thanks to the weird time of day, Gauvain was still alternating between actively pursuing his goal and relaxing on the edge of the fountain pretending to be admiring the view.
Which was what had got him in this situation in the first place: the Swanna loved watching the Koi fish swim in the mall fountains, even if he had zero desire to get closer to them than that. He did love water, given his type, but he loathed the notion of having to touch that dirty water where people threw their coins. Eugh.
And yet, peering into the depths, he had noticed that underneath some of the ornamental rocks on the deeper portion of the pool, a gold signet ring had gotten wedged. He leaned on his stomach when the coast seemed clear, trying to hook the ring on a bent hanger he had "borrowed" cutely from a nearby clothing store.
But his arms were so short!

Toby didn't go to the mall very often - mostly because he never really did have much money to spend. When he did go, though, it was because he liked to people watch and sometimes he could find loose change if he looked hard enough. He really did like the atmosphere, though. It was large, open, active, and there were so many things to look at. He would window shop and look at all the things he wanted to buy when he was older and could earn his own money. The boy pressed his nose and the palms of his little hands against the glass of one of the shop fronts, his breath fogging up the glass. He was oggling some sweets. He'd as Dodger if he could buy one later. It was in the reflection of the glass that he caught sight of the fountain... Or rather the pale swanna boy leaning over the edge in an attempt to reach something.
Curiosity piqued, he abandoned his gawking at sweets to see what was up.
"Whatcha doin'?" He blinked his big, green eyes and offered a toothy grin. He was pretty sure already that they would be friends, even though the other hadn't even responded to him yet.
