Growling and scowling under hear breath, the lioness finally plopped down onto her belly in exhaustion.

She'd been walking non stop for days now with no real destination in mind. She was just ... walking for the hell of walking. But her feet had finally given up on her, and now here she was nearly dead with exhaustion. A rest would be a blessing right now, but she was far too stubborn to sleep. Especially in a place so open to anyone who wished to find her. She would rest, but only when she found a place appropriate for such things. For now, she would just relax and let her legs regain some of their usual power. She knew that alone wouldn't get her far, she would have to eat soon. Otherwise she would have no energy for even basic tasks.

"Stupid, stupid, STUPID.

Should have just hunted when I had the chance."

Cursing under her breath the lioness took a look at her surroundings. Nothing in either direction for miles. No trees, no water, just rocks. Rocks and sand. Well this was sure to be one hell of a boring day wasn't it?

Roz wondered if he should be worried about not having any cubs yet. Three banus, and no cubs. Hmm, well one of his banus was a hybrid, so he knew that she wasn't likely to bare him cubs, but still, two other lionesses that he paid a damn good bit of attention to and no sign of either of them pregnant yet. He didn't think it meant there was anything wrong with either of them, or with himself for that matter, but he perhaps he should worry that was the case?

The yellow and blue lion shrugged his shoulders at his own thoughts. He had decided to come out away from the pride for a bit to give his banus a rest and clear his head. It was probably a good thing he was doing so. They needed some time away from his pranks and goofiness, and he needed some time where he had to fend for himself and prove to himself that he wasn't getting soft or lazy from having females to do things for him.

Roz was just about to start looking for prey when he spotted what appeared to be a lioness in the distance. He had just come past a watering hole a little ways ago, and thought there must be some kind of prey in the area. He did not expect the first creature he came across to be another lion. He hurried over, thinking that something did not look right about her. "Are you well, miss?" He wondered if she had come out here and gotten turned around, or something. One could walk forever and not find water or prey if they didn't know what they were doing.

Nia nearly jumped out of her skin at the unexpected words coming from behind her. She was just so tired, so hungry, so ... stubborn. Why was she like that again?

Oh right.

She didn't know.

Trying to regain her composure, Nia lolled over onto her other side. Her belly now exposed to the male standing near her. She wasn't typically a submissive female, and well, she wasn't really trying to be now. But she realized her position, and laziness was probably giving off the wrong idea.

"I'm fine."

She huffed the words, trying to ignore the pangs of hunger coming from her belly.

"Just getting a bit of a tan!" Nia snorted at her own joke, causing a mini sand tornado to form before her eyes. She watched with only mild interest as it spun for a few moments, before disappearing just as quickly as it had arrived.

Roz chuckled at the female's response and give her a goofy grin. "Well if you are going to tan, you might want to do so over there where there is a watering hole that you can cool off in occasionally. You'll die of heat stroke out here otherwise." He indicated the direction of the watering hole he knew was nearby and had been going to circle around to for prey. He would make sure this female made her way there before he did that now.

Roz doubted very much that the female should be out here so far from water and laying under the hot sun. He had seen what that could do to his dark banus in a short amount of time and had been told that it could do the same to a brighter lion given enough time. He could not stand by and let someone do that to themselves, especially not a pretty female.

Roz stepped a bit closer. "If you would like, I can give you a paw up and help you over to that watering hole... you can continue your 'tanning' there. Perhaps you would like a meal as well? I was actually on my way to hunt, I could get something for both of us." He might seem a little odd to her, but Roz loved helping others and being the sweetheart of a lion that he was. Besides it was someone to talk to!

Nia tried to remain polite, though her hunger was making that difficult. Who was this lion? To just come into her life out of the blue and instruct her on what she should and shouldn't be doing? She eyed him with a bit of peaked interest. He appeared to be just an ordinary lion, but from her experience lions didn't just help you unless they wanted something ... The fur on Nia's back shuddered at the thought of some of the creepy males she had run into on her travels. But well ... he seemed different. Almost eager?

"Uhhh ... thanks!"

She smiled kindly at his words, but made no motion to stand. If she tried ot stand and failed, it would show weakness. Weakness in front of a stranger was never a smart thing to do.

"I guess it is pretty hot out here isn't it?"

As the male stepped closer, her heart jumped into her throat. She could feel it beating harder and harder. She knew she didn't have the strength to fight him off, she was doomed.

Put off by his words, Nia blinked heavily and sat dumbfounded for a moment. He .. wanted to help her? The mention of a meal made her stomach leap nearly as high as her heart had.

"That ..." She paused trying to find the right words to describe what she was thinking. "That would be great, thank you." She held out her paw for the male to take, and willingly gave away her signs of weakness all for the sake of a nibble of food.

Roz chuckled a bit at the comment the female made about the heat. He was used to it to some extent, but he was certain this female was not. He stepped forward a bit more and took the paw, helping the female up, and sliding himself to her side to help support her if she needed it. She had to make it to the watering hole and get something to drink before the male even thought of feeding her. Food would not be any good if she died of thirst afterall. As they walked, the yellow male tried to offer support without making it seem like he thought she HAD to have it.

Roz had learned from experience with some rogue females on his adol quest, that some females do NOT appreciate being offered help. It had been a hard lesson to learn in a way, but at the same time it was a much needed one. He had a whole new level of respect for others from seeing the diversities in the roguelands. And that respect should serve him well dealing with this female whom seemed a bit worse for wear. "Here we are. The watering hole is nice and safe, and you can lay here under this rather tall rock for some shade."

"I do hope you will be comfortable here. There is not likely to be anyone or anything along for a while. Bit hot for most of them to venture out... also, there are no water lizards around here, so you should be fine that way. I will be back with food as quickly as possible." Roz had to get moving on that food, but he was reluctant to go until he was sure she got a drink and settled in the shade. It was hard to not be concerned even for a easygoing lion like himself. He just hoped he could get her back up on her paws, so to speak, without too much trouble for her.

She was still so taken aback by his helpfulness. It was strange to say the least, that such a random lion would appear just at the right time. But to top if off, his ability to care was what impressed her most. He could have gone on his way, and done whatever it was wondering males did, but instead he'd stayed behind to help her.

Nia grunted as she forced herself to her paws, her joints fighting against the weight that was once again on their shoulders. She wanted to wince and whine out, but she was prouder than that. This male was already being so helpful ... if she were to whine, he would likely offer to carry her. Something she would be against for many, many reasons.

As the two walked, slowly, she noticed the sweet male's extra support and was silently grateful. She allowed him to help her as much as he could, though there would be a point where she would draw a line. A lady couldn't simply allow a male to wait on her paw and foot!

As the two arrived at the watering hole, Nia's joints heaved a sigh of relief as she settled back into the warm sand once again. Her eyes nearly rolled back in her head at how great it felt to be off her paws. She listened with open ears as the male began to explain himself, giggling at his mention of lizards.

"Hehe, I don't think the water lizards would be such a bad thing right about now." Smiling, she looked up at her savior and blushed faintly. He was quite the lion, add his personality to that and he was a winner. "Thank you for all you have done, I don't know how I could repay you for such a thing. But if there is ever a favor you need, you have my services." Nia dipped her head only a bit to the male, and then quickly picked it back up.

"I'm Nia by the way. Nia'Dubaku .. but Nia is my preferred name."

Roz chuckled but reached over to nuzzle the lioness' cheek, reassuringly. "No, water lizards are a bad thing, especially when one does not want to move. I would not want to see that beautiful pelt of yours torn to shreds by a water lizard." The male just gave her a kind smile in answer to her talk of repaying him. There was no need for payment. He just wanted to help her. He would be happy when she was well enough to go off on her own, but that would take some time. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Nia. I am Rozmačkaný. Just call me Roz."

Roz let the female in the cool shade of the rock with the spray from the little mini waterfall washing over her. She would stay cool and comfortable there while he got her food. The sun would not hit her to overheat her further, and the water would help her cool down a bit from all the heat she had already gathered. The male went out stalking some prey, careful not to venture too far in case the female would call out for help. Thankfully, he was able to find sign of a few little things to bring back to her, birds mostly, but it would do. A couple birds and a hare gathered up in his maul and over his back, the male returned.

Roz had to stop every so often to make sure he didn't drop the things on his back, but he made it. He set the now dead small creatures in front of the female. "Eat, but try not to eat too quickly... you have already been through a lot today." He hoped she had gotten at least a little to drink while he had been hunting, but one never knew what went on while they were not present. "Are you feeling any better? Did you drink?" He might have been a worry wart and a bit mothering, but dang it he wanted her to be all right. He was determined to do his best to make sure she was too.

The gentle yet reassuring nuzzle left Nia's cheek blazing with a blush she couldn't control. She silently thanked the gods that her fur would cover the worst part of it. It was strange for her, to have this male be so fond with her after such a short time. She just wasn't used to the affection ... well she wasn't used to affection in general, but for a male to come up to her and be so sweet and caring without demanding some form of repayment? Surely something was up? But he seemed to sincere in his wishes and his words, perhaps it was safe to trust him, if only for the time being.

"My, that's a very exotic name. I don't think i've ever something so foreign before." She giggled, now more intrigued by the male than she was before. "You must come from pretty far away don't you?" Nia adjusted herself slightly, wincing as her muscles argued against the move. Roz was probably right about the whole being still thing afterall... perhaps she would doe a bit while she waited for him to return ... if he was really going to return at all.

It felt like only a few winks had passed before her eyes were pried open by the familiar scent returning to her. It was Roz! She wanted to jump to her feet and greet him excitedly, but sitting was still her best option. So instead, she merely pulled herself to a sitting position and wagged her tail furiously. As the scent of the hunt hit her nostrils, her tastebuds began to salivate in preparation. Oh it smelled so good!

As Roz plopped the kills at her feet, Nia looked down, then glanced back up at the kind-hearted male adoringly. "You went out of your way to do this for me? I'm touched Roz ... thank you." Offering a shy smile, she gently reached out and nuzzled against his cheek sweetly.

"Oh no, I didn't get a chance to drink ... I think I fell asleep just as you were leaving." A bit dissatisfied with herself, she allowed for a slight frown before bending down and picking lightly at the fresh meat. "You must really enjoy helping people don't you?"

Roz had left the female's question about where he came from unanswered to go hunting, but when he came back he had every intention of answering it for her. He nudged food toward her and grinned at the lioness. "I am not from too far away... but my pride doesn't always have contact with the outside... especially after we get back from our banu quest. We have to find our first mate to bring back to the pride with us." The male stretched and made himself comfortable near Nia, laying there lazily. "My name is not so foreign in my pride... and yes, I do like helping and trying to make others laugh through practical jokes."

Roz grinned at the memories of how he met two of his banus, practical jokes that did not quite pan out how he expected. "You seem a bit distrusting... has someone hurt you? I will escort you on your way if you like." His brothers would look after his banus while he was away from the pride, and he knew that they would have no problems with said banus. Nor would his brothers HARM his banus... they would be afraid of the wrath of his one banu's father if nothing else. The yellow male had all the time he would like to help this female.

Banu? First mate? Roz seemed to be speaking in tongues, because Nia had not a clue what any of his words meant. Though she found it more respectful not to bombard him with questions all at once. Rather, she would wait until he'd finish, then if he were willing she would question him. But she had to admit, she was rather intrigued.

At the question of her distrust, Nia quickly shook her head in rejection. No one had hurt her, she would do her best not to allow such a thing to ever happen. She was just ... naturally this way. She'd heard many a story of the rogue lands, and how she should always be on her toes. That's just what she planned to do! Yet here she was, being waited on hand and foot by this adorable male. She tried her best not to smile at her own thoughts.

"Oh no, no one has harmed me. I guess i've just always been this way. When something seems too good to be true ... often it is. So I do my best to not fall into those kind of traps." She tried offering Roz a smile, hoping it would throw him off the trail. "I don't mean to offend you, I appreciate your help more than you know. It just seems far fetched that a strange male would do so much for me." Nia bent down and took another bite from the carcass Roz had provided. "Ha, you don't have to escort me, honest. I'm a tough gal, I just overexerted myself this time." Looking at Roz, she could tell he wasn't buying her words. "I promise."

Nia's tail swished around her back as she continued to take bites from her dinner. It was the perfect dinner! The meat was so tender, he was obviously quite the hunter. "Why don't you sit a while, and tell me more about your pride. I have to say, your personality and words have intrigued me."

Roz was glad that the female's answer was no, but at the same time it made him sad to think of her always being so distrustful. He admitted that it was probably safer that way for her, but at the same time, he wished she did not have to be that way to be safe. She was so pretty and he really wished she had someone to care for her like he did for his banus. Yes, he knew females that could take care of themselves quite easily, heck he had a relationship of sorts with a rogue that was that way. But he thought of the beautiful firey former firekin as an exception not the rule.

In his opinion if this female had had someone to help her along, she likely would have stopped to eat and rest before she had been overcome. Although, who knew, maybe they still would not have found the watering hole. One never did know what could have been. "I understand that view, but I also find it a shame that it is truth. I think you should take time to rest before you decide if you want an escort. And think seriously about that, we are getting close to my pride's lands, and I don't think you want to be in someone's harem by force."

"Your distrust would be well placed in some of the males of my pride, unfortunately. There are some, though not the majority that do not seem to realize that a willing banu is the best kind to have. I keep thinking one of these days we are going to wake up to a few of the males murdered in their sleep and their banus run off to the roguelands again... not that I would blame the females, or even give chase, myself." Roz shrugged his shoulders and settled himself down. He hoped he had not scared her, but he did want to get his point across that she might be better off with an escort to get her around his pride without incident. He really wished he did not have to say what he did about his pride, but truth was not always pleasant.

Nia listened to Roz's every word, nodding where appropriate and actually taking his words to heart. In a typical conversation, she would probably have shoved the male off with a wave of her paw. She was more than confident that she could handle herself, though there was something about Roz that kept her interest. He spoke of exotic terms, things that made her intrigued to be near him. His personality didn't exactly hurt him either.

As Roz pleaded with her to think about her decision before making it, she nodded her head. It was very sweet of Roz to offer to help, but the truth was she didn't want it. She was already finding him easy on the eyes ... what would happen if he were to escort her a ways and then two split apart? She would likely be heart broken and left to deal with it all on her own. A frown crossed her face as she listened on. Perhaps his pride wasn't all it was cut out to be? She cringed at his words, but tried to hide them behind a large yawn.

"I will give your words and pleas much thought Roz. But for now, I think I should take the rest you've been lecturing me about." Nia smiled at him, and winked before another yawn took over.

"When I wake, we can talk more about your offer." With a curt nod, her eyes began to droop, and she finally allowed her head to rest on her paws. Her last thoughts being of the inevitable heartbreak she was sure to encounter if she accepted his offer.
