The purple snake slithered along, most of her anger at the hissing green idiot having faded as she put some serious distance between them. Really, the nerve of him! She hadn't even bothered to find out his name, he'd pissed her off so. Still, she knew what he looked like, so it should be easy enough to avoid him from here on out. The encounter faded from her mind as she saw something unexpected up ahead. Whatever it was, it was black and white and huge! Curious, Mizani sidled up to get a better look.

Nemanja'janan had, once again, collapsed within a heap of fur, feathers, and spikes. It might have been assumed that he could be the God of Sleep or perhaps even the God of Laziness, but neither assumptions would be correct. Apathy covered a broad spectrum of the world, but most of the problem within the lion was purely emotional. When the heart and spirit did not care to continue on, to exist, to move the body very often followed.
Today was no exception.
Flopped in a pile on the grass, the large beast honestly had no desire to carry on or continue on with his journey. . . .this. . .journey of no where. The red snake that he carried within his mane had slithered off elsewhere, likely to find water or a snack, and so it was, Nemanja was stuck until he. . .she. . . it . . .returned.
Needless to say, if he noticed the approach of another slithering thing, he did not make move or motion.

The purple snake came nearer. Oh my...what a huge heap it was! Feathers and fur and spikes that didn't seem to have any relationship between each other, from what she could tell.
She slithered around it, examining the pile from all angles. It seemed to be about the size of a large lion, but that didn't explain the spikes or feathers. She didn't know of any creature that grew spikes like a plant, and only birds had feathers!
But it hadn't moved since she arrived. She wasn't sure if it was alive...or if it ever had been.
Expermentally, Mizani poked at it with her tail.

The large lion heard the movement of grass, though it was slight. At first, he had assumed it was Veri's reptile come back from its temporary reprieve of his mane. . . . unfortunately, he was mistaken. The scent was different, and whatever was slithering around near him was not the much larger python. No, whatever was out there was slighter, smaller, and appeared to have taken great interest in him.
Perhaps he had collapsed upon its nest.
Perhaps it had caught the scent of snake in his mane.
Perhaps it wanted a free meal.
EIther way, when he was poked, a large ear flicked but otherwise he did nothing, made no motion. At least not to start. After a moment, his ebony eyes opened. He glanced around, but refused to lift his head. He felt no need to move or seek out whatever was around. He simply didn't care.

Well, she'd seen the red scales in the black...fur?...hair? Mizani had absolutely no idea what materials made up this...this thing. And her poking hadn't produced any noticeable effect that she could see.
Hmmmm.
The purple snake decided that she wanted to be safer instead of sorrier. So she poked the pile repeatedly instead of moving again. It was warm, warmer than the air around it. Almost as if it was alive, and some sort of mammal...

Whoever was out there was quite insistent on being made known. For a long moment, the lump did absolutely nothing, and made no motion. Why should he? What did he care about whatever was out there, next to him, poking him with some sort of . . . well. . he wasn't sure what. A tail. Maybe coils if it was a snake. It was difficult to say, and he honestly had no real interest find out.
Perhaps Veri's red companion had made a new friend or fallen in love or some other such something. There could be any number of reason, any number of possibilities on why he was suddenly now investigated. His imagination could come up with a million different options for the strangers approach, but none were enough to make him move.
Yet.
A small part of him knew that he was being rude by disregarding some creature, but if they wanted to speak, or wanted to investigate, so be it. If he moved, they might start and flee and then he'd have gone through all the effort for nothing.
No. He'd give it time...something this lion had in bucketfuls. There was never any rush when dealing with him.

Still no response! Mizani was utterly confused. It didn't smell as if it was dead and rotting, but it definitely felt warm and maybe furry at its heart. Very well, the purple snake would have to take further measures to investigate.
Using her muscular coils to her advantage, she began to climb up the heap. As her perspective changed, she could begin to see how things fitted together. White fur with black markings, black wings, a head! A lion's head! And wings? It was totally bizarre, beyond anything she'd ever heard of before.
The snake paused on top of the strange lion-thing's chest, staring at its head.

It was definitely a snake.
When the thing began its crawl up and over his mighty figure, the black and white beast decided that it was probably best to at last acknowledge the presence. His mothers words resonated within him, even if he tried so desperately not to care. She had raised her son to be polite and a gentleman, and no amount of Apathy could wipe that from him!
So it was, when the creature paused, the lion slowly, ever so slowly craned his neck to peer at the snake. He caught sight of purple stripes, and it certainly was not the pet of a god. . . at least not of Veri's.
Blink.
Ebony eyes peered blankly at the creature. ". . . salutations." It was a low, quiet, rumble. Weak. But loud enough that he did not doubt the snake would hear.

It was apparently alive, whatever it was.
At least, that's usually what being able to speak meant. And it had greeted her. Somewhat politely and using a word of more than three syllables. The snake was impressed.
"Hi," she replied. The face was definitely that of a lion. But there were scales of some kind in its mane, bigger and redder than her own, but still scales. And that wasn't even beginning to get into the feathers...
Truthfully, she wasn't sure she wanted to know.

Another couple of slow, lethargic blinks.
He knew he should converse with the creature, but he honestly did not have the strength to do so. The temptation to drop his head was great, but he was resisting; to ask him to continue to speak was outright torture. . . torture he didn't he didn't need and chose not to embrace.
He was a god, after all.
Surely the world could not expect Apathy to do much more.
Still, Nemanja'janan considered the snake. ". . . if you need something, simply ask." And with that, he dropped his head back upon the ground to, once more, resume being nothing more than a heap.

Green eyes blinked.
She truly, sincerely, had no idea what was up with this...creature. But he was talking to her. Finally. Though he wasn't very interesting. Her curiosity had been satisfied in terms of learning that it was alive and capable of speech.
"I don't need anything," she replied before turning her back, slithering down his body and then away into the dirt.
The purple snake find something more interesting and more interactive somewhere else, she was sure.

And so it was, the lion was quickly left alone.
It was for the best, really. While Veri's snake could hang around him unharmed, thanks to being her snake, and not quite as effected by Apathy's power, the purple one would not have been so lucky.
If she had lingered, she might very well have collapsed in to her coils herself, and either been picked up by something hungrier, or left to die against and among him. Yes, it was good her inquiry had kept her moving - - unlike his past companion, Isanne, this god was not entirely sure he wished to pick up and move anytime soon.
A few weeks. . . maybe a few months. . . would best suffice.
So it was, the best let his black eyes close, and he became (once more) nothing but an awkward pile.
