Kuroi'Nera wasn't her real home, not really, Áine thought as she walked through the dens. She was an informant and she was very good at her job. She was able to get the information needed and then leave without being missed or noticed. She would be kind to those she needed to get information from, but not too kind to seem suspicious. Her biggest trouble was that she was too pretty. Often she would get the attention of her target and keep there attention. It was nice because they would mindlessly talk to her and give her information, but leaving was always a pain. They never wanted her to leave.
Right now she didn't need to worry about that. She wasn't on a mission. For once she had a chance to rest up.
Sometimes it was boring in Kuroi'Nera. She loved being in a pride that allowed her to come and go, preferring the go part though. She felt more at home in the rogue lands then in her pride. She liked the danger the rogue lands brought. It was interesting in Kuroi'Nera, but she came in after the pride had its war. Now that it was peaceful in the lands, she found it too boring for her taste. She wished she would have manged to come in before the war so she could have participated in it.
As she walked she bumped into a scarred up cheetah, who had their left eye covered.
“Watch where you're going.” a hiss said, as a glaring eye looked at her. Sol was not in the mood to interact with others today. He was on his way to the fighters den, after training. His fighting ability had been hindered since the lose of his sight in his left eye.
He had accidentally walked into the cheetah, not seeing her, but he didn't want to take fault for it. She should have watched where she was going anyways. It wasn't like there wasn't room. She could have made room for him. He continued walking, knowing full well that he had a follower behind him.
Áine was right on his tail. It was curious for a cheetah to be rude here. She wondered what his problem was. “You bumped into me friend.” She called to him, batting at his tail as he walked. “It was pretty rude. I was just minding my own business when bam! The rudest cheetah just walks into me. Probably cause he can't see. Which if he admitted his fault would be okay.”
She continued to follow him, hoping to get some sort of reaction, but he kept quite. He didn't even yell at her for playing with his tail. “You're sorta a boring cheetah you know that right? Most other cheetahs would have yelled at me, or at least remind me about how cute I am.” She sped up her walk so she was walking next to him, on his right side. “Maybe you didn't get a good look at me.”
“Are you some sort of new entertainer who doesn't understand their place in the pride?” Sol replied angrily, baring his teeth. He wasn't in the mood to be toyed with. That and bringing up his lack so sight pissed him off even more. If she wasn't apart of the pride he would have taken a swipe at her to make her shut up, but if he did that he would be in more trouble. Right now it would be better to lay low.
He glanced over at her. She was pretty, he would give her that. But, when he was younger, he was pretty as well and was asked to become an entertainer. He rejected that offer and continued his path toward fighting. Now he couldn't even fight. He had a major disadvantage. To make it worse, strange cheetahs were now mocking him for it.
So he speaks! And here she was thinking he was also a mute. “Darling, as beautiful as I am, I think my charms can be used else where.” She wrapped her tail around his. “I'm an informant. The beauty of an entertainer, with the cunning of a fighter.” She rubbed her face against his.
“But I wouldn't mind being an entertainer. I've always love dancing.” She said with a smile. “I wouldn't mind entertaining you either. I think once you get out of your little shell you might actually be fun to talk to.”
“Trust me. I am not fun in anyway.” he replied, giving her a quick glance again. He didn't like when others showed affection toward him, especially when they first met. But what she was doing was worse. She was insulting him, again and again. “I have things to do. I don't have time to be toyed by you.” His pace quickened as he entered the fighters den. By now she would leave him.
Accept she was still there, her tail wrapped around his. “I want you to be my new friend.” She decided. “I'll help you work on that attitude of yours and you will help me learn more about this pride I've become apart of.” She said, leaning toward him. “I think we can make this work!”
The desire to hit her was growing, but he didn't. She hadn't done anything too terrible. If anything her greatest crime was to be irritating. “Fine I'll be your friend, if it shuts you up and makes to leave.” He finally said. He had no idea why she would be interested in being his friend. For now he would deal with her. She would be out of here in no time anyways. Informants came and go, never sticking around. She wouldn't be any different.
A huge grin fell on her face. “My name is Áine by the way. It is a pleasure to meet you! I am sure that we're going to be the best of friends. What's your name?” She purred next to his ear. The eyes of the fighters were on them. “Don't worry love, I do this to all my friends. You're nothing special.” She said before giving him a quick kiss on the cheek. “Tomorrow I'll come to see you, that way we can talk some more.”
“Sol.” he replied as he watched her leave. She looked back at him and gave him a wink. This was an unexpected turn of events. He wasn't expecting someone so... cheery to come into his life so randomly. He always thought that most happy members of the pride would avoid him. He wasn't the type who made others feel welcoming, especially now since his turn of events which caused him to become moodier and much more of a grouch.
However, even if this whole thing was a joke, it did make him feel a bit more needed then he did before. Maybe having this odd cheetah as a friend wasn't too terrible. For now he would be patient with her and see where it led.
