"Cake, cake, cake~. I like cake. Cake is good, cake is yummy~." Sibyl sang happily as she sat under a tree, an entire platter of chocolate cake sitting beside her on the grass. It was a mystery where she'd gotten the cake, it was very likely she had just...found it somewhere and assumed she could just have it.

That's what you get for leaving something unguarded and within reach.

There was a very sad gluttony demon somewhere crying over the cake they had made and mysteriously lost knowing they hadn't eaten it. They were drowning their sorrows in candy, lots of candy.

"Yummy chocolate cake it needs more fishies~. Hmhmhmhmhmmmmm~!" This was clearly the most amazing song in history. She should tour.

Somebody liked cake. He could hear it from all the way across the campus, and it was only getting closer. Or, more accurately, he was getting closer to /it/. There wasn't much he could do about it, he had to walk this way to get back to the dorms. But he tried his very best to ignore her, all the way until he got to the tree she was resting on. Here, she was at her apex, and here, his face winced in dismay.

He'd be able to hear her from the dorms, at this rate. He had to do something.

So he walked right past her without stopping, and headed to the lake.

Around ten minutes later, Gabby returned, glistening from what little moisture managed to cling to his body. He walked up to the ghoul, who.. somehow.. was still talking about cake.. and lifted his prize up above her head.

Then he dropped it.

The fish flopped dead on top of her cake, splattering it everywhere.

Sibyl was content to just sing and eat her cake, having finished probably half of it by the time a fish fell from the sky. The only thing she cared about was her pelt, quickly moving it out of the way of the splatter with a surprised gasp when her cake seemingly exploded. It wasn't until the carnage had settled that she saw what happened. A fish had fallen from the sky.

She took off her mittens and picked up the fish. Oh, goodness! It was covered in cake and chocolate! Best fish ever. But how did it..? Her head turned up to find a white dragon-like student standing before her and her eyes widened, a tiny little gasp escaping her. A dragon! A...an ice dragon? He looked like he was made of ice! But he was a dragon.

But he's an ice dragon.

Can't spell nice without ice, right? Right!

She practically sparkled. "You're amazing."

That waaaas most definitely not the reaction he'd expected. He was sure that dropping a fish on a ghoul's cake would warrent some crying, or running away, or maybe a little of both. This one looked up at him as if he was her hero, and he felt a little taken back by that disarming stare. Those were very big eyes she had. Big enough to eat him with.

"Uhm." Good starter, Gabby. "Yeah. I.. guess I am." How did dropping a fish on her make him amazing, again? He guessed he had underestimated just how much the ghoul liked fish. "So. You enjoy that. I'm going to go." He pointed his thumb back behind him, stared at her for another awkward second, and then turned to walk away.

Hopefully, without cake, she would stop singing the cake song.. his only true goal.

NEW BEST FRIEND WAS LEAVING.

ABORT.

ABORT.

Sibyl gasped and scrambled to her feet without to use of her hands, holding the fish in them and hurrying after the nice dragon. "Wait, wait, wait! Thank for you the fishy! It's so big! We can share it!" She hurried around the boil to stop in front of him, holding her fish out before her in offering. "Pleasies, friend!"

Gabriel stopped in his tracks when he heard her calling after him, and his eyes rolled just slightly as he started to regret what he'd done. She moved around to stand in front of him, holding the fish out. He took a look at the cake covered carcass, and raised an eyebrow.

"I don't really like raw food, I was just bringing it to you. You eat it." His lips quirked to one side in hesitance, before he very carefully reached his hand out and.. patted her awkwardly on the head.

"...Okay. Bye."

And then he kept walking.

Oh, well there was an easy solution to that! Sibyl preferred her fish cold and fresh but if New Best Friend didn't like raw food she was okay with that! "We can cook it!" She blinked as he pat her head, watching him start to walk away.

He must have been going to the kitchen! Sibyl grinned and followed alongside New Best Friend, skipping and humming cheerfully. Going to cook a fish! A delicious cake fish~! Yaaaaaay! "Are you an ice dragon? Ice is fun! There's lotsa ice where I'm from. It's really cold, too. Do you like the cold? And the snow? It's so much fun, right?"

We. There was that we word again. Gabby drooped his head slightly, the finality of his mistake hitting home in her insistence. He kept walking, and hoped something else - another student, a butterfly, a flicker of light - would catch her attention and send her on her way.

"I am a white dragon." He corrected quickly, a sharpness to his voice. "Which is a frost inclined, but not ice dragon. There is a distinction, it's very important to us dragons." He did, however, like the topic of cold. "Where do you come from, that has so much snow? Not this place, I'll say." He muttered this last with disappointment, kicking at the dirt. "It's only snowed once since I've gotten here, and it's the middle of winter. What's wrong with this place?"

The sharpness of Gabby's tone went completely over Sibyl's head. She was still smiling even as he explained that she was wrong and why. Oh! Okay! That explained a lot. So it was important to get dragons right, she'd remember that. Jericho was a red dragon, her new best friend was a white dragon. "I think it's just not very snowy. I come from a place that's all ice and snow and lots and lots of water!" She announced proudly, her eyes widening. "I'm a Selkie. My whole family is~. And my Marzie, my Marzie is a Selkie too." She loved her Marzie. Her Marzie was perfect even given her...condition. But Sibyl had promised not to tell anyone about that, and she was a ghoul of her word.

"I hear there're places that don't even get water." She stared ahead of her as if staring into forever. No water. What sounded like the worst thing ever. "Oh! My name's Sibyl, by the way! What's your name, friend?"
PostPosted: Thu Feb 07, 2013 12:06 am

Selkie. He had no idea what that was. And he didn't ask - he knew the question would just start off a whole new round of words flying out of her mouth at the speed of ridiculous. Neither did he know who Marzie was, and neither did he ask. In fact, he was getting very good at being a listener, and just letting her go off until she had nothing more to say. It was a technique he thought he'd be learning to perfect as time went on with Sibyl.

"No water.." He cringed, finally forced to say something by the absolute horror of the idea. "How would anyone live?" A shudder went through him. He took in her name, and his cold blue eyes flickered down at her for a moment, blinking. "I'm Gabriel."

He stopped, reached out and put his hands on her shoulders, and moved her to his other side. It was the side of him that felt less corporeal - his right side. Then he continued walking as if he hadn't done something strange.

He agreed! No water was a terrible thing. She shrugged, wiping some of the cake and frosting off her fish and licking it off her fingers. Mm! Delicious! And it tasted like her new fishy! That made it even better. "I'unno! S'weird but they do it." Sibyl looked up as her new best friend introduced himself, grinning up at the boil. "Nice to meetses you, Gabriel~!"

Suddenly he put his hand on her shoulder and she stopped walking, moving cooperatively as Gabriel guided her from his left side to his right. She blinked, falling in step beside the boil again when he resumed walking. What was that about? Sibyl tilted her head one way and then the other like a confused dog. "Why.." Something moved in her peripheral and Sibyl turned her gaze down to the boil's arm and hand. Hey! It was all...wispy and stuff! She hadn't noticed that before. She reached out to touch it, gasping quietly at how cold it was. Whooooaaaaa...

She swat at the wispy stuff. "Why's your arm like this?"

Gabby couldn't feel the touch of her hand sifting through the wisps that came off of his body. When he turned to see what she was talking about, she batted her hand away. "I'm a ghost." He informed her, his voice sounding like he'd meant to add 'duhhhhh' after that sentence. "It's a ghostly.. thing. Haven't you ever seen a ghost before?"

In fact, Gabby had only ever seen one ghost before. And he had the exact same phenomenon, on his left side. He just assumed all ghosts were wispy on one side.

"I can't focus hard enough to keep that part of me solid. I guess they teach you that kind of stuff here, right? So that when I graduate, it'll be gone?"

The uh duhhhhhhh tone went completely over Sibyl's head. "Lots! There're lots of 'em here! But...not a dragon ghost." Sibyl was clearly in awe of this discovery. Ghost dragon! Dragon ghost! So awesome! Then again he could be just about anything and she would think he was awesome. It's not really difficult to impress this ghoul.

Even though he had bat her hand away she was still fascinated by it, swatting at the wispy bits coming off Gabriel and even testing if her hand would just go through his arm. The last ghost she had met had ruined her pelt at first, getting coffee all over it, but she'd seemed nice enough regardless. But she didn't seem all wispy and transparent like this boil. New best friend was awesome!

"Maybe! But it's super cool right now! Ohohoh! Can you make like shapes and stuff? That'd be awesome!"

There was something.. strange, about the way she said dragon ghost. It was strange, not because of the way it sounded, but because it made him sound strange. As if he was.. somehow.. proud of the fact he was a dragon ghost. As if, just by being who he was, this little ghoul saw something in him that was amazing.

Sibyl made him feel funny. He didn't like it.

His arm, past the wispy parts, was perfect solid - and when she pressed her hand against it, he batted her away. "I can't make any shapes with it, because I can't control it. That's the problem, you know? If I could control it.. it wouldn't be wispy. It would just be normal arm." Maybe another duh sounding moment happened, there. "It just kind of.. I don't know. Floats there. If you've seen lots of ghosts, do you have any idea if this stuff goes away, once you're here a while?"

Welp, that answered that. Her hand pressed against Gabriel's arm and stopped there, giving a tiny push to make sure she wasn't just having trouble until she gave up. So it was just the wispies. "Do you not like the wispies? I think they're pretty!" Sibyl was grinning from ear to ear as she said this, looking up at the boil. Was she sparkling? Oh, no. It was the light of the pumpkin sun shining off the pearls and shells in her hair. Carry on.

"Well this one ghost I met, her name's Gene, she's real pretty. But um..she didn't have wispy things. She looked like a normal ghoul except she could float and her skin's blue and her hair's kinda blue...I'unno! Selkies don't have floaty things." She looked down at the fish still in her hands. She'd love to eat it, it looked so delicious, but she wanted to share it with her new best friend and he said he didn't like it raw.

They had to cook it! She was determined now. "Are we going somewhere to cook Mr. Fishy soon, Gabriel?"
