Lt. Natron's visits to the rift were very few and far between. He still wasn't entirely comfortable down here - it felt creepy, off, in a way nowhere else ever had. But he had been summoned there by a General-King, his first encounter with someone so overwhelmingly powerful. The man before him in black and blue might have been short in physical stature, but his energy signature was overwhelming. Natron's first reaction was to kneel.
You, uh, you called...sir?" He wasn't entirely sure, having never met the man before, but he suspected that this was Zinkenite, head of the Intelligence division and thus his specific superior officer.

His gaze flicked up from the papers he was holding, shuffling them and then setting them aside. “Stand up Natron, you aren’t in trouble.” He ran a hand over the papers and then glanced at you. “I hear you did well for yourself against a senshi, and… I understand that you’ve made some; lets call them positive in roads with the Dark Moon Court.” He pulled down his mask and shared a conspiratorial smile, or at least an upturn at the corners of his mouth.

Natron stood up, awkwardly brushing himself off. Was there any way to not feel awkward in front of someone so powerful?
The compliments, however, were enough to make him feel much better, and he did manage an attempt at a return of Zinkenite's smile. It was a little wobbly, but definitely present. "Oh, yeah, you could say that." Modesty demanded that he avoid sucking in the compliments too much - but it was nice to be noticed.

“Have a seat for a moment won’t you?” He asked and pulled out one of the heavy chairs from around the War Room Table. “I really think you’ve made a good account for yourself. Tell me, are you pleased with how far you’ve come?” He moved closer to you from around the table. 5’7 was still far from impressive in height, but at least it was taller than he had once been. “I really think you’ve earned some recognition.”

Natron took the seat. "Oh, thanks," he said. The large, heavy chairs were definitely different from what he had at home.
"I am," he said. "I won't lie, I didn't start out very well, but I feel like it's been upwards from there." Not that there was much room to sink lower after getting typewriter'd into the asphalt on his first night out.
"Oh, I don't know about recognition," Natron wasn't sure he deserved that much. Esepcially not from a General-King. But it seemed he was getting it, which was something he couldn't help but be glad for.

“Well, if you would prefer NOT to be raised a rank, I’ll take that into due consideration.” He said tilting his head carefully. “I can’t say it won’t hurt after all. I’m afraid that is the cost of power, the proper cost I really think. You’ll have a better weapon, your uniform will change… trust me. I remember the pain of being a Lieutenant. I started with a wooden sling shot.” He shrugged lightly and lifted a hand. “Unless you can make a good account for why NOT to do this, then I’d recommend bracing yourself?”

The expression on Natron's face could only be called "amazed shock." "Raise...a rank?" His voice was borderline squeaky. "I mean, I - I had no idea - yes I definitely want that." He was tiring very quickly of the limitations of being a Lieutenant.
"Uh, no, can't think of a reason why not," he said. He wasn't sure exactly how one braced himself for that, if it was anything like his corruption.

If anything, it hurt more. Chaos taking over a greater portion of an already tainted soul, the process that could kill you as easily as it could give you strength and power. When he drew his hand back, exhaling softly and then nodding in satisfaction at what he saw. “Yes, Better.” He sounded pleased. “I hope you’ll keep up the good work, I’d rather like to see you make General one day.” He nodded again. “Captain.” He added the honorific like in some way it might add a sense of reality to the change that the pain had not.

Natron wanted to scream at the pain from the upgrade, but he bit the inside of his cheek to keep it in. Every ounce of pain was worth it, though, when he opened his eyes and found himself transformed.

He grinned, balancing his new weapon in his hands. The heavy weight at the end of the chain he held was a large step up from his old dodgeball. He was off-balance, a little dizzy from the agony, but Zinkenite's praise kept him mostly grounded. "Thank you, General-King. I'd like to get there myself." He said. Captain Natron. It felt strange, but definitely good.
