Eiden
Dragons...godly creatures with powers beyond the dreams of mere mortals. To create such a creature required a god in return, so it was that the first gods to step up to this task were Venus, Goddess of Love, and Mercury, the Guide of Souls. Venus wished to instill with in her creation the gift of kindness and love, while Mercury wished to grant them the ability to wage battles. Venus, however, had the greater influence on her creation, and although they retained the ability to fight, they did no wish for conflict. Eiden, the original dragon, was created through the use and creation of clay. This, however, was not enough to create a powerful being such as a dragon. With a few more materials chosen by Venus, Eiden was complete, and the lineage of dragons was born through her. After their creation, they were left to be on their own and do as they wished.
Eiden sacrificed a portion of her own powers to allow humans to use magic, but only in small amounts. At best, human magic was as mediocre as the amount of power Eiden had granted them. After thousands of years of practice with what little magic she had given them, they had perfected, and enhanced the use of magic. With the powers they had gained, they used it to protect the dragon hatcheries from any human that wished to see dragons perish from the world. It was in that time that Eiden had an idea come to her...although the knights were diligent in their duties, she saw them as a disorganized force. Although she possessed kindness and love for the humans protecting her, she wished for nothing more than her kind to be safe as can be. So with the help of her first human mate, Gustov, she formed the first platoon of Dragon Knights. Although small, she believed they would better follow their purpose now that they were organized.
She was the leader of the Knights for some time, until she handed down the position of leadership to one of her own children. One day during a routine scouting mission, Eiden vanished, she never came back. The Knights searched for her and never found her, they would never learn the truth, that her mate at the time slain her. The mate's name was Gin. Gin took it a step further and murdered Eiden's son, the fledgling leader of the knights. Gin had become the leader of the knights at that point, and although this kept them from falling in to disarray, the dissonance was still there. The newest rule followed the story of Gin down to the letter, for if you vanquished the current leader of the knights, you would accept the position on to yourself. The knights had been at peace with the dragons for several thousands of years, but that peace would soon be shattered as the chaotic song known as betrayal grew louder.
After the humans took over the ranks of the knights, they began destroying dragon hatcheries, along with the parents. The first dragons that perished were the Golden Ones, to insure that the whelps would not make it. In doing so, dragons faced certain extinction, however, there was a small group of dragons that had hidden themselves from the rest of the world. They were the dragons there were created immediately after Eiden. They had given themselves the name "The Sanctuary Protectors", and they would allow no human to breach said sanctuary. During the time of peace, they created a sanctuary just for dragons, existing on a floating island in the sky, hidden amongst clouds and constantly on the move. The Sanctuary Protectors had even moved the statue their precious leader had created to the center of the lake on thefloating island, although, they did not yet know of its significance.
As time marched forward, the dragons had to adapt and change in order to survive. They became thinner, and their bodies grew longer, this made up for the lack of speed and strength they had experienced over the years. By the height of their evolution, there were many different types of dragons, but the most prominent one was the serpent-like dragon, now dubbed the Eastern Dragon. Even with their speed, the time that had moved on, all humans now knew how to use magic, and had joined in the fight to hunt down the dragons. It had been a few million years since it all begun, but time moved on, and the past was all but forgotten.
