Name: Murdoc Smalls
Sex: Male
Age: Eleven
Wand: Seven Inches, Mahogany, with a core of Dragon's heartstring. Firm; best used for Transfiguration
Pet: Orange tomcat named Noodles
Year: First Year
Dorm:(Don't post untill you have been sorted)
Personality: Bright kid; Murdoc studies diligently and did well in school even when just living the muggle lifestyle. Kind of a know-it-all; prefers to lead, rather than follow. His lack of siblings and few friends at home has made him grow introverted, and not very outgoing socially. Because of this, he has a tendency to say the wrong thing when he does try to make conversation, and has become so used to having other kids only come near him to copy off his work that he has difficulty trusting anyone who isn't an adult. Because of this, he has a sort of complex revolving around him always wanting to act the grown-up, never wanting to be the kid.
Bio: Murdoc was born to two average muggle parents in Boston, Massachusetts. His mother was a social worker, and his father worked in a hospital. Both parents were very proud of their son, believing he would go on to great things, and they always pushed him to succeed in school, teaching him to always be confident in himself, no matter what. Murdoc used to want to be a scientist when he grew up, and he threw himself at whatever books or online reading material he could find, no matter the subject, save the ones with bigger words he didn't understand. His particular favorite topic was space travel. But that ambition changed when Murdoc turned ten, and his magic powers started to develop--when things started levitating around him and burning, his religious grandmother tried to get him sent to an exorcist, but his parents would have none of it.
After his eleventh birthday, he received his letter inviting him to the Salem Institute. After seeing a demonstration from a local magical professor of the letter's authenticity, the young boy was ecstatic and ready to go. He now makes his way into the wizarding world, unsure and a little afraid of what he will be find, but cautiously optimistic nonetheless.
