Izel stood within the shade of a large tree, her eyes looking out at the land. It was not much different from her old home, and yet she couldn't feel more lost at this moment. Everything had changed so quickly. One herd had fallen and then a second, and word of this had been brought to her own herd. Her father had assured them all that such a fate would not befall them for they had be warned ahead of time and would be prepared to fight off this evil menace. Izel had felt confident in her fathers words, even if fear ate at her for many nights. It was a long time before anything did happen and then it did there was little they could do to stop it. All her fathers preparations had been for nothing, in a single terrifying night the dark stallion had swept in and taken control. Izel had been forced to run, she had little choice in the matter, and run she had. For days and nights she kept on the move constantly worried that the stallion would send one from his army to pursue her. It had left her constantly looking over her shoulder and refusing to trust any stranger.

Now she was in a new land and she would not be able to return home for some time, if at all. Letting out a ragged breath Izel wondered what her next move should be. She wanted to return home, but doing so unprepared would only bring about her death, or worse the stallion would force her to become his mate. Izel couldn't help but shudder at the thought. She would rather die than suffer than fate. Moving out from under the tree she continued on her path, with no real destination in mind, these lands were unknown to her and she would need to find a place to stay until a plan had been formed. One thing she would need to do is find a local, one should would have to trust, and find out about these new lands and then work on a plan from there. Golden eyes scanned to area for any movement, she was still unsure if she had been followed or not, so it was best to keep a lookout, plus she needed to find someone who would be able to help her...and a servant would be nice as well. She had gone far too long without her servants now, it would be high on her priority list to find a suitable Soquili to fill that role.

Eldorada let out a heavy sigh as she meandered along - ever since meeting that strange wild haired mare a few days ago things had been quiet. Almost too quiet, it was like no one lived in this particular area at all. How was she going to find a prince, raise an army and return to her homelands like a victorious vengeful queen if she was stuck wandering around in a no horse land?

Really it was just absurd. Of course no sooner did she think that then the sound of hoofbeats managed to worm their way into her thoughts. Pausing she waited for whomever it was to come up the path. Princess' after all did not go running off to meet others - others came to meet them!

The sight which met her however when the owner of the hoofbeats appeared was certainly not what she expected, indeed she had to do a bit of a double take and calculate how much fermented berry juice she had drank that morning in order to assure that she was truly seeing who she thought she was seeing.

"You!" She finally remarked in a startled voice "What are you doing here?"

A golden hide ahead caught her attention and for just a moment Izel thought she might have found someone who was from these lands. Then she heard that voice and stopped dead in her tracks and stared at the other mare. Of all the Soquili to run into in these new lands Izel never imagined this mare would be the first, in fact she wasn't even from these lands! Why her kingdom had fallen before Izel's!. Taking in a breath Izel let a faint smile cross her lips. "I decided to take a journey to see all these wonderous lands that were far beyond my fathers border." There was a hint of mockery in her voice, but her smile remained there, showing delight in what she just said.

With a slight shake of her head Izel took a few more steps closer to Eldorada. "I'm here for exactly one reason and I think you know why." A sudden hint of sadness caught in the mares eyes before she forced it back. "Honestly Eldorada, cut the dramatics, you act as though we are enemies." They weren't enemies, and yet at the same time they weren't exactly allies either. But now, given the circumstances Izel would place Eldorada a bit more firmly in the latter category. They were equals now in a way, as both had suffered the same fate, not that Izel wanted to outwardly acknowledge that, especially since that wound was still quick fresh. Why it had only been a few weeks ago that her life had crumbled before her eyes.

Eldorada huffed slightly at the other mares words. "I was merely startled to see you." She sniffed though he eyes softened a bit at the mares words..while she didn't come right out and say it Eldorada could think of only one reason why the other mare would have left her lands and her luxurious life to come to this dreadful place alone. That was a bitter plant to swallow - Eldorada knew that all to well.

"I see..well you'll hate it here, the locals are all heathens." She stated with a great sigh. If anyone could understand not only the pain of being away from home but the pain of living in the wilds like this, well she was sure it would be Izel, though she couldn't believe that the rogue stallion had managed to gain so much ground. Eldorada wondered if theo ther mare had the same plan as she did - if they worked together they would be able to build a much larger army but she kept silent for the time being...living as nobility made her wary of speaking about plans unless she knew without a doubt where the other stood.

"...But I've managed to find a decent enough glade to spend my nights." She offered, despite her words that the area was terrible. Izel was probably tired..she had probably run herself near into the ground much as she had done when she fled. A couple days to rest and mourn was what she needed.

Izel said nothing. Of course it would be surprising to run into her his far away from where they had once called home. She herself had never imagined being forced from her home and having to endure hard days of traveling, only having fear and the will to live to keep driving her tired legs forward.

The faintest of smiles crossed Izel's lips at Eldorada's next words. "I already hate it." She admitted softly. Being so far from home, her servants, her family, everything she had known and was accustomed to. If she was perfectly honest it downright sucked. But she wouldn't go around stating that, except perhaps to Eldorada since they had this is common and could understand each others feelings quite easily. "A safe place to rest would be greatly appreciated." So far in her flight from home those few places she did stop to rest at felt far too exposed and she feared that when she closed her eyes followers of that stallion would pop out from whatever hiding places there were and capture her. That was what had pushed her beyond anything else to keep moving and stop only when absolutely necessary and for only a short time. "He must be stopped." Izel's voice turned hard and determined. "Whatever it takes, we can't let his hold on the lands strengthen and grow anymore than it already had." But first she needed to rest and recover then they could figure out how to go about stopping him. If her and Eldorada could form some kind of alliance to crush this stallion then they could reclaim their lands when the time came and their armies would send him running. Yet that would take a while to organize, build up an army, makes sure they were truly loyal and then travel to their homes and fight back. But she would do it, for Izel was not willing to let that brute of a stallion keep her family's land. Each day he held it was another day too long.

Eldorada nodded in understanding as the other mare stated she already hated this place. It was an easy place to hate really...so ugly in comparison to their fair and beautiful home. Or at least it had been fair and beautiful before he had come along and her eyes glittered in agreement with the other mares words, her voice sharp and determined when she answered. "He will be...we just have to find an army to do it with. I've been looking for a suitable one for a while now..but the creatures that live here, half of them are soft and sorry creatures who wouldn't know the discipline required of an army if it came and bit them on the hock...and the rest are just ..vile, as cruel as the stallion we need to bring down just not as goal oriented."

It was sad really the shape these Soquili were in. It was so bad that she had even gone so far as to think about trying to hire..mercenaries. The very thought made her nose wrinkle. Mercenaries were honorless brutes, hard to deal with and mostly untrustworthy..but they could fight. While she would prefer to fight back with a proper army well..she was starting to consider just about any option and the arrival of Izel only furthered her thoughts on this matter. It was just another sign that he was growing stronger and they couldn't let him keep growing in power else they would never be able to bring him down.

"I've...I've been considering mercenaries. Thats how bad it is." She admit to the other mare as they walked, the disgust in her voice plain to hear at the very thought.

IT was good to hear that Eldorada was as determined as she was to see the stallions reign of terror brought to an end. Yet she hadn't worried too much on it. Eldorada's herd was one of the first to fall and while she only knew the mare from a few times they had met in the past on formal occasions she knew her well enough that she would want to see her land reclaimed and the vile stallion be brought to an end. Still hearing that this land was lackluster in the sorts they would need to see that idea to a head was a disappointing thing. "There must be someone, somewhere that is competent enough to lead an army for us. There just has to be." She said in a mix of determination and distress. How could they possibly do anything without an army? And how was it possible in a land as large and plentiful as this lack suitable warrior types? No, there had to be some, Eldorada simply hadn't found them yet.

Izel shuddered at the mention of mercenaries. Vile creatures they were and she hated seeing them let alone hiring them, but it had happened in the past because sometimes they were the only option. "A disgusting thought." Izel said with a shake of her head. "And yet, as much as I hate to admit it, some situations call for their brutal ways and if there was ever a time I might consider hiring them I think this would be one of them." But that was not a decision to jump into, especially having only just arrived and not had the opportunity to pursue any other options. No, they would be a last resort, if no other option was available then they would be used, must be used for she would get her families lands back and Eldorada would get her own as well.

Eldorada could do nothing but nod her head in agreement of Izel's words. She wasn't naive enough to think that mercenaries did not have thier uses..truly even in her own lands her father and brothers had employed them from time to time. Eldorada did not think that any true king could honestly claim otherwise and still be telling the truth. But there was a difference between her father and brothers dealing with them and ...trying to deal with them herself. Even the thought of sullying herself by being in their vile presence, actually speaking with them. Well. It would be unheard of in the old days..

But they weren't in the old days now were they? Not even in the old lands. A last resort they might be but it was a last resort that Eldorada told herself she would be willing to take. "Yes...but not just yet. Perhaps..with two of us, we will have more success. I have been fearful of traveling two far from this area in my search alone..but if we both go. Maybe.." Izel would understand..it simply wasn't safe to wander about unprotected, but with two of them to split the watches and keep their eyes out perhaps they could extend the search.

Izel gave her head a weary nod. She was tired but seeing and speaking with someone she knew, someone who had been through what she had been through was a comforting thing. Even if it meant partially reliving the terrible downfall of both of their herds. Eldorada was the only Soquili she had run into since fleeing her home that would understand what she was going through and together they would be able to find a way to push back the evil stallion and reclaim their lost lands.

"No, you are right, we must not hasten into such a vile decision. Mercenaries are after all a last resort and I would not make it my first choice upon arriving her nor yours to call upon them." They had to at least exhaust all their other options, search further than Eldorada had searched on her own, ask every single heathen in this land until they had found what they were looking for or knew it didn't exist before finally submitted to the disgusting task of hiring mercenaries.

"With the two of us, we will surely be able to find what we need." It would take time no doubt but given that they had little option otherwise Izel was okay with that. There was a lot of be done before they could go home, raise an army, obtain new loyal servants until they could retrieve their old ones, adjust to temporary life in this new lands. Yes things would work out just fine for them once they acquired those necessities, then their plan would truly unfold and she would return home to reclaim what was hers and Eldorada would do the same.

Seeing the way her friend - and yes she supposed despite the somewhat competitive nature of their relationship before, that they were friends now, or at least the closest they were likely to come to it in these new lands - head seemed to move with a weary exhaustion Eldorada decided that any more woeful discussions on the matter would be better suited to wait until Izel had had some rest.

Decisions made when one was tired never turned out as well as one hoped. No it would be better to take the other mare back to safety so that she could recover from her harrowing journey. Afterwards..they could approach the problem before them with fresh and rested minds. "Enough for today I think, you need to rest and when you have recovered then we can decide what to do." She stated with a decisive nod of her head. "Come on, I'll take you to the place where I have been staying..it not what we are used to of course but it is safe and certainly better then the trail here." She told the other mare, motioning slightly with her muzzle down the trail behind her in hopes the other mare would agree to come along.

Izel was more than grateful when Eldorada decided that they had discussed this long enough and now it was time for rest. She had been tired and while it was good to finally see someone she knew and to talk of the things they had endured what she really needed was a nice long rest...and after that a bath because honestly traveling the dusty roads for days on even had put far too much dirt on her pelt. Normaly she would have demanded a bth before sleeping but given where they were and how exhausted she was for once she didn't care if she were dirty, all she wanted was to sleep. "

Slowly but determinedly Izel followed Eldorada as she led the way to a small but nice enough place that the golden mare called home. It was indeed far from what either of them were used to but given what this land seemed to offer and some of the places she had stopped for short rests during her flee from home this seemed like heaven at the moment. "Thank you." Izel said with no false gratefulness as she settled into the grass to rest her weary legs. "We will speak again tomorrow once I am no longer so....out of sorts." With a final glance and a soft smile a Eldorada Izel's eyes slid shut and she drifted into a fitful if not restful sleep.
