((OOC note: This is the first of a series of SRPs that I wrote awhile ago, either by myself or with Mriae back when we were playing Bonnie and Clyde at THRQ. First up is Clyde's first mission. If these gets to be too long or there are too many of them, let me know and I'll just start posting them in my journal >>'))
It had been a long time since he had been Tatsuya Kinmichi. That boy grew up in Celadon City, Kanto, one of the richer cities in the region; featuring the largest department store in the region and the game corner. His father owned most of the Celadon Condominiums in the area, as well as a large portion of Silph co stock. Mr. Kinmichi is a stern, cold man. He was an active Rocket, trainer, and Silph co work at various points in his life, but is now retired from all three, though he still kept many of his pokemon. At some point in his life, he was arranged to marry the lovely, though vapid, Kimiko Sato; a girl from an equally wealthy family who was at the top of the Coordinator game with her famous all Grass type team. A year or two after the marriage, Tatsuya was born.
Tatsuya was a happy boy, he grew up surrounded by wealth, with a large number of maids and nannies to care for him. He interacted with his mother more than his father, but both amounts were still very little. Mr. Kinmichi was only interested in the boy’s progress in both school and pokemon battling. He never expressed any praise, but rather would have him punished if his marks weren’t up to par, or he wasn’t battling enough. He had to get into Team Rocket after all.
Much to the dismay of his father, however, he was a bookish boy and not very interested in pokemon as anything other than pets. He was a fan of mythology from far off lands and the possibility of becoming a teacher. Tatsuya was also interested in his best friend, Bonnie. She used to go by a different name, but abandoned it as her father abandoned her. Bonnie came from a different world than he did, though she knew poverty wasn’t the life for her. There was a fire in her spirit that quiet Tatsuya was drawn to. She was also pretty, with a lithe build and fiery locks. Bonnie was interested in water pokemon and spending time with Tatsuya, in between caring for her single mother and younger sibling of course.
When Tatsuya came of age, his father expected him to join Team Rocket. Tatsuya got used to this idea eventually, he did want to make his father proud. Bonnie joined alongside him, there was always a home to be found and steady money from Team Rocket; she could support the family her father no longer could with a secure job there. In preparation for Tatsuya’s entry into the organization, however, his father insisted on battle lessons, from none other than himself. His father was a harsh teacher with ruthless pokemon. Tatsuya lost many pokemon in training before he even joined Team Rocket. He learned to see pokemon as tools, and that if a pokemon wasn’t as ruthless as his style, it wasn’t worth keeping. He was still a quiet, bookish kid when his father wasn’t around, however.
At the age of 15, Tatsuya joined the local branch of Team Rocket; Bonnie at 13. He was presented with a Charmander as his official starter pokemon, while Bonnie’s family managed to find her a Pidgey. Tatsuya named the Charmander Pandora. Much to his dismay, the female Charmander was very meek.
He remembered his first day still.

A younger Clyde by a different name strode into the busy lobby of Team Rocket Headquarters, his black Grunt uniform ironed and wrinkle free. Mother and father dearest had been ready at the door this morning to see him off, though the gesture seemed to him more likely so they could inspect him, to make sure he’d make a good first impression. He was confident enough that he would, but with this new Charmander he was afraid he was going to lose his temper.
Coming from a wealthy, Rocket supporting family he was practically ensured a pokemon, but his Father believed he had to earn it. And he did by completing a weeks-worth of training to become a Rocket, in addition to battle lessons. Expecting a powerful, battle hungry pokemon he got this Charmander. Even though the alizarin-haired boy knew Charmanders grew up to be big and strong Charizards, but this one was different. It was terribly, and by all means insanely shy. Fire types' tempers were usually you know...fiery. This girly little thing was currently shaking like a leaf, clinging to his new and polished boots. It cowered and dug it's tiny claws into his boot covered calf every time anything breathing zipped by in the busy lobby.
Tatsuya gazed around the lobby with sea-green eyes, looking for someone, probably a superior, that would be his training supervisor. He finally spotted her, her uniform standing out among most of the rest. A few other Rockets, new recruits like him, he reasoned, were already flocked near her. He glared down at his Charmander. "Come on, keep up. We're going to meet our supervisor. Please try not to embarrass me." The pair made their way across the lobby to where the supervisor was; Pandora clutched her tail and ran after Tatsuya. 'At least she seems to know I'm her master.' He grumbled to himself. They arrived near whom Tatsuya presumed was the supervisor and began to introduce himself. "Hello, I am Tatsuya. I presume you’re the training supervisor? It's a pleasure to meet you," He said with a small bow. "I am one of the new Grunts." The supervisor glanced up as she was addressed by Tatsuya, blonde pigtails and an Executive level uniform proved her status. "Right on time. Call me Susan," She checked Tatsuya's name off her list and glanced back over the arriving Grunts, "Looks like most of you have shown up for your first day on the job. Congratulations on completing your training. I'm sure you're all very proud." Her chipper grin faded into a serious, slightly smirking line, "But I'll be honest with you. Most Rockets don't drop out at training. It's the real field work that scares the wimps away. I'm here to help you where I can, but don't think this is going to be a cakewalk. Understood?"
Tatsuya knew he wouldn’t drop out. Couldn’t drop out really, unless he wanted to be disowned. Field work would be a cakewalk for him. It had to be. Susan nodded approvingly as more recruits arrived. "Alright, that looks like enough. Any stragglers will just have to catch up with us. Today we'll be heading out on your first mission. I know a lot of you are dreaming about grand, exciting escapades, but don’t expect that for awhile. Sorry to say that as long as you're a grunt, you'll be scraping the bottom of the barrel, mission-wise. Today we're heading to the nearby forest. For those of you who don't know, it's largely unvisited. Perfect place for early missions out in the field. No law enforcement there to speak of. What it does have are ghost Pokemon. And a lot of them. Of all the types in the lab, ghost Pokemon are always the most scarce. They're tricky things. A real pain to catch. That's why you guys get to do it. “I want to make one thing very clear. When you're on a mission to catch Pokemon for Team Rocket you may not keep any of the Pokemon you catch for yourself. If I catch any of you pocketing one of your Pokeballs you're out. Got it?” Several nods responded to her statement. Many of the group were thieves by nature, but they weren’t about to steal from the place that gave them a home from a world where they were condemned. “I'll be watching over you guys as you comb through the forest. Nobody gets to come back to headquarters until they've got at least one ghost Pokemon in a Pokeball.”

Tatsuya nodded along. This sounded easy enough.
"Everyone clear? Alright then, let's move out!" With a wave Susan turned to head out the door into the heat of the desert-like environment. Thankfully it didn't look like they'd have to walk the whole way. A line of jeeps was prepared for them among the canyon walls. Headquarters in this region was located in a largely unvisited canyon called Grakia Canyon. "Four to a car. No bickering over who gets to drive. One of each group just take the keys." She plucked a Poke Ball off her belt.. A red beam fired from the ball, producing a large shiny Charizard. Apparently this would be her method of transportation.
Tatsuya selected an empty jeep as the supervisor took to the air on her Charizard and waited for it to rumble forward. He was too young to drive, nor had he ever learned how. Tatsuya supposed he should at some point in his life, but right now there would always be someone to do it for him. He recalled Pandora to her pokeball; she kept digging her claws into his new uniform and it was really annoying. He didn’t need it getting any worse once the jeep started moving.
When they arrived, the Charizard landed with a ground-shaking thud. The trainer dismounted the giant black lizard. She waited a few moments for the rest of the group to arrive. "Everyone here? No lost stragglers?" She counted vehicles with a pointed finger and nodded, then stood proudly in her uniform with her hands on her hips. "Good. Welcome to the forest. Now it's early in the day so you shouldn't have to worry about any powerful ghost types lurking about. They tend to come out at night. For the most part you'll be encountering a lot of gastlys and a few haunters. Whatever you can catch is fine. As long as it's a ghost type it counts. If any of you wind up in a sticky spot and think you need help, push the small gray button on your Team Rocket Communicator. It'll notify me of your location and I'll hurry over. Everyone clear?"
Tatsuya nodded along and hopped out of the jeep. This seemed like a pretty simple and straightforward mission. He called Pandora out from her pokeball. "Alright then, Pandora, our mission here is to look for Ghost-type pokemon in this forest. Can you handle that?" Tatsuya addressed his pokemon sternly. The timid charmander was holding her tail in her tiny claws. She cowered a bit as his words. Ghost-types?! They were scary! Pandora's eyes began to water, she was suddenly more terrified than usual. What if they attacked her? She sniffled and ran to her trainer's leg and began to cling to it. Tatsuya scoffed in distaste. "Pandora! It's the middle of the day for Arceus's sake, even if there are any ghosts, they won't be very powerful. We need to get to work," He shook his boot a little bit, trying to get the Charmander off it. She finally let go, leaving tiny cuts in the boots. Ugh. He was definitely going to need a new pair after this adventure. He sighed, "Fine. I'll carry you. But when we do find a ghost pokemon, you're going to have to do the fighting." He proceeded to scoop up his Charmander. He then looked around, deciding they would try their luck at one of the larger trees.

They walked quickly through the forest, searching for any movement. A twig snapped, and Tatsuya froze, Pandora was already scared stiff and clinging to his shoulder after being spooked by falling leaves. Thank Arceus she wasn't the type to start fire blasting the immediate area when scared. The cracking continued, it sounded like the cracking was coming from everywhere. Probably the trick of a ghost pokemon.
"Pandora, you gotta buck up and face this. I won't do any damage to whatever is coming our way. Getoff!" He yanked the charmander off his shoulder, and set her on the leaf-covered grass. Something was coming their way. A Gastly phased through one of the trees, and stealthily licked the side of Tatsuya's head. The grunt was suddenly paralyzed by the sheer grossness, making incomprehensible noises. "Pndora," He grunted out "Embuurrrrr," Pandora looked around wildly, trying to find whatever had just paralyzed her master. What was that?!
In another moment the Gastly came shooting from behind another tree ready to lick the charmander as well. Suddenly something snapped in Pandora and she shot forth a spew of flames from her mouth, successfully toasting the surprised Gastly, as well as the tree behind it. The flames licked hungrily at the live wood and tried to consume it. Luckily, Tatsuya's paralysis was wearing off, and he was able to get into his bag and grab a paralyze heal. He hastily sprayed himself with it and with a rush of adrenaline whipped out a pokeball and threw it at the fading gastly. He didn't wait for the ball to even wobble and rushed over to snatch both it and his Charmander, who was still terrified at what she had done.
Tatsuya ran away from the burning tree, hopefully someone would be able to put that out, lest they burn down the whole forest. Once they were safely away, he surveyed the damage. Crap. He hoped he wouldn't be held responsible for that. Suddenly the pokeball he thought he caught the Gastly in burst open, the Gastly hadn't been caught. 'Dammit.' Tatsuya thought 'I thought we had it.' "Pandora, use Ember! Tailwip! Do something!"
Pandora was currently trying to curl herself in a ball when Tatsuya yelled commands at her. With all the courage she could muster, she shot another ember at the Gastly... Which sailed past the ghost, who blew a raspberry at her. The Charmander was suddenly furious, which was very out of character for her, Tatsuya noted. She let loose another, more powerful ember just as the ghastly was sailing towards her. The ghastly attempted to stop, drop and roll in the dirt, which is when Tatsuya seized the chance to throw a pokeball at it. This time he let it wobble.
wobble....wobble.... wobble...

His Rocket Communicator pinged, informing him that this time the ghastly had been caught. He scooped up Pandora, ignoring the burning tree in the background and praised her effort. "Now that's what I'm talking about! You need to do that more often!" The charmander was shocked and said nothing. She was suddenly so dizzy...time for a nap... Clyde returned the tired Pandora and collected the ghastly. He then made his way through the forest to find Susan.
Susan spotted another rocket over her shoulder and nodded, "Is that another success?"
Tatsuya nodded back and said, “Yes ma'am,” before turning over the pokeball containing the Ghastly. She took the pokeball and placed it in a bag, “Good job, you can go wait in a jeep while everyone else finishes up,” The Rocket Grunt nodded and headed over to the parked jeeps. It didn’t look like he was the first one back, but he thought he did a decent job. He could always pretend he was the first one back when retelling the story to his parents anyway.
The rest of the Rockets returned with pokemon quickly, he didn’t have to wait in the jeep long. They made the return drive to HQ quickly, without any incidents. It really was a boring first day at training. He returned the sleeping Pandora back to her pokeball and headed to his dorm room. He was in a single room, thanks to his father’s status within the company.
The room was simply furnished with a bed, desk, dresser, and a bookshelf. The bookshelf was the only thing that really had personality in the room. His bed was pushed against the window, and a closet took up most of the wall on the nearest side. He sent a quick email to his parents; he was also equipped with a laptop for just that occasion. He didn’t live at home anymore. He didn’t spend much time in his dorm at HQ really. Just for sleeping, occasionally reading, quick emails to his parents, and sometimes him and Bonnie would hang out in his room. Bonnie was his favorite part of being a Rocket. He loved his best friend, though he wouldn’t realize in what way for a long time.
They became partners early on - though they had to wait awhile for it to become official. They even chose codenames together: Bonnie and Clyde, after the story of the famous bandits. Clyde was the muscle and Bonnie was the cunning, similar to how they operated. Clyde was lounging on his bed, Bonnie on the windowsill above him. The late afternoon light streamed in and made her hair glow bright orange. It was beautiful, and so was she. Her blue headband stood out again the orange of her hair, with little braids cascaded down in the front. He smiled, and she would smack him for looking at her funny.
“Hey so what do you wanna do about codenames?” He asked casually. “I dunno,” Bonnie said offhandedly. It obviously didn’t matter to her. Clyde was the one who was fond of stories, and suggested, “What about Bonnie and Clyde, like the outlaws? I think that’d be cool,” He said, smiling up at her. He could be so goofy sometimes. She didn’t know, but it was only around her that he was like this. Bonnie shrugged with a small smile, “If you like it that much, or think it would be that cool,” She said nonchalantly. “Bonnie and Clyde it is,” Clyde stated, still smiling. He never smiled that much around another person. “Let’s go get some grub,” He said and leapt up from the bed. The transition from Tatsuya to Clyde was smooth and didn't feel important at the time, but this change would eventually create a sense of becoming a new person for Clyde.
