 Haunt was taking a huge risk approaching the warren on the hill, and he knew it. Not only in sitting out in the open where elil could easily see his vibrant fur pattern in the snow, but from the Owsla guarding the territory. But try as he might his need to know how his "patient" was doing would not leave him alone; he wanted to make sure that his herbs were doing their job and that nothing had gone amiss with them. Even the trauma-ghosts of his warren-mates had been peering at the depleted herb supplies in question and then turning to him, inquiring. Even after all this time living with them, he couldn't ignore them. He had to come and find out... if only so his thoughts and his ghosts would let him have a good night's sleep again.
He'd spotted some promising spaces on the way here that might yet hold some of the hardier healing plants. The roots would be useful, even if the leaves had been destroyed by the cold. So as long as he lived through this little visit... it wouldn't be a wasted trip. So he settled at the far edge of the scrapes, just on the far side of a spot that had been scent-marked. Within obvious sight of anyone on patrol, but not intruding past this rather obvious territorial boundary. Surely someone would come to investigate him.

 Alderberry was on her usual patrol.
She liked it when her days were a bit mixed up, but today was not one of those days and she slogged through the snow, which clung to her dark feet and legs, soaking her fur. She couldn't wait until she could retreat to her burrow... But maybe she ought to find flay for her brother. It was hard to come by as it was and he couldn't forage for himself. He was probably very hungry.
Though she indulged in private thought, her attention was never away from her surroundings and she was ready should elil come poking around. She wasn't expecting to see a stray rabbit, though. His fur patterns were certainly interesting and he had all the look of a hlessi. He'd been one for a while, it seemed.
She sat on her haunches, peering down the down towards the stranger. He didn't seem like that much of a threat and wasn't intruding yet. Her ears swiveled and she debated approaching or alerting another. Approaching won out and she made the descent to see him.
"Who are you and what do you want?" She hoped he didn't want to join. they didn't have room for the rabbits who already lived there, let alone a hlessi.

Haunt saw the lady Owsla pause and debate his presence and for a moment wondered if he was going to be passed off. But she finally did begin to approach him and so he sat up and gave his face and ears a quick grooming to make himself more presentable. The scent of myriad herbs probably grew strong enough to wrinkle the Owsla's nose by the time she drew close enough to speak with him; not just the many he kept in his burrow, but the ones he'd rubbed on intentionally to throw off the elil. He smelled virtually nothing like rabbit.
"Frithaes, Owsla. Dropped by to make an inquiry and delivery, is all. Gray buck of a runner sought me out some weeks ago looking for aid for one of your officers. Dog-something, and... Ginkee? I'm better with faces than names." He motioned to the bark-wrapped herbs at his feet. "Was hoping I could get some word on his condition, and brought some more herbs. He'll be getting low on 'em by now if I'm thinking right."
