 The day was young when Clandestin decided to wander away from her small group. She made sure Mkimya was settled in, snarling at her brother and her pup to watch over the gentle female, and she set off with promises to return. It took a lot to go off on her own, sometimes, and she hated leaving the group, but sometimes she got a craving for adventure - of her life before all of this.
She gave a small content hum as she left the small pack, pressing on. Perhaps she could find something to bring back to the group - information or otherwise. It would be something, at least. Some sort of purpose.

 Gula woke up to the sound of her stomach growling at her. She opened one brown eye to take in her surroundings. Nothing had disturbed her in her sleep. That was a good sign that there were no wandering predators in the area so she could hunt in peace. She pushed herself up and enjoyed a nice big yawn. After stretching out her legs, she started off in a trot, looking for something to eat.
It wasn't long before she came across a klipspringer. Perfect! She really couldn't have found a better prey animal to hunt. They weren't too big, which would be hard for her as a lone hunter. She hunched in the grass and followed along as quietly as she could, just waiting for her opportunity. Hyena packs may be more bold but she had learned that being sneaky worked better for her as one that was alone.

Clandestin snuffed at the ground and in the air a bit, small huffing breaths after each intake of scent. There were tons of mixed smells invaded her nose. Mostly those travelling through. She couldn't pick out anything specific, which was frustrating.
She wished Airle could have come this way, too, but he was the only guard and needed to protect the herd from harm, small as it was. She wandered on, keeping her eyes open for anything that could harm the herd.

Gula watched from behind some bushes as the klipspringer sniffed the air and ground. It seemed like her position was not given away by the air and she was still well hidden. There were times that she was jealous of all the hyenas that had pretty colors on their coats but this was not one of them. Her brown fur was perfect for blending into the background. It didn't scream out, look at me.
As her prey started to move, so did she. She crept along as quickly as she could while remaining quiet. This is what resulted out of all the trial and error hunting she had done growing up. Gula was much more stealthy than a regular hyena and very patient. She could definitely wait till the right opportunity. This klipspringer also seemed very alert. She didn't want to give herself away before the right moment. Now did not seem like the right moment, it was still moving and could probably run faster than her.

Clandestin was very unaware that she was being followed - hunted even. The very idea was ridiculous to her - why would anyone want to hunt her. She'd like to see them try! The herd wasn't that close anymore. They wanted to secure a small border around their growing group before they moved on - hence her wandering, but she wasn't worried. This area seemed nice. She gave a small huff of approval. She'd just double back to the herd now inform them. She turned back to the direction she came, searching for any grasses she might like. Her attention waned and she lowered her head to nibble at a particularly juicy bit.
