The request to go out in this weather. Looking at the messenger, Marco wondered why he had to go out so far even though other doctors were closer to the person in question. Their reason? Oh they didn't want to risk freezing to death, they didn't want to risk bandits, wolves. A load of crock to Marco, who sighed and got to work packing his things. Somnium just shook his head. The doctor wasn't the type to leave anyone behind. The next morning he'd set out just as dawn broke, much to both his and Somnium's distaste. Neither of them were quite fond of early mornings and for the buck, he wasn't fond of Marco both riding on him and making him carry things. By the time the house in question was in sigh? Marco was promptly kicked off. There would be no free rides of that length again anytime soon. A short walk to the house, Marco looked around, pausing to how Somnium was more interested in the smells around them. Marco's turn to shake his head. Rapping his knuckles on the door, there was a brief shiver as a gust of wind came by. All in all, he just hoped this wouldn't take forever.

Last afternoon, after walking from the river, Patia had stepped into a hole hidden in the sand and found her ankle in so much pain, Osa had to carry her and their gear home. She was able to get a messenger to find a doctor, and hoped that they would be able to find their way to the shack.
That morning, Osa kept watch and when he saw the duo cresting the hill, he disappeared behind the shack. He would stay behind there for now and wait patiently like he was told to, though he was much more interested in the other buck coming their way.
With the knock on the door, Patia sighed and said loud enough. "Come in!"
The shack was rather warm, the small hearth made sure of it. It wasn't anything spectacular. A one room place, big enough to move around in, small enough for one person. The old woman was laying on her bed on the far side, near the window. Osa peeked in every once in a while then would duck down again.

A small incline of his head as he opened the door. Somnium stood outside the door for a moment, coming in when Marco tilted his head. "I apologize for bringing him in but he carries my things and- Somnium do pay attention." The buck was fixed at a window, wondering if he'd seen something. A small tug on the pack, the buck was drawn back to his chosen, giving a small huff when the man flicked his back. "My name is Marco Rossi madame. " The warmth was a blessing as he managed the pack off of Somnium. Thank the minds of ancient men. "I was told that you needed help, but not of what kind. The messenger said you hurt you leg, then amended it to your foot. Not knowing which, I came equip. I assume you can't walk but, do tell me what's bothering you. I'll do my best to see you moving again."

"I'm Patia and..." She tapped at the window, which caused the tan buck to pop his head up into view. "That's Osa."She waved off the appologizes for the buck. "Don't mind it. Osa is usually in here, but figured there'd not be much room with all of us." Patia moved to a more sitting up position and adjusted her left leg tenderly. She didn't like feeling this way, old, brittle... With a sigh she looked to the boy. "I stepped into a hole hidden in some snow. Don't think it's broke, but it hurts more than most things." She lifted the edge of her skirt. It was a bit bruised and swollen. She not only had stepped in the hole but rolled down the hill side a bit with Osa trying to go after her. "First time in a long time I've been hurt from my trips." She chuckled a bit at the little joke, fishing trips and falling trips....

The sight of the other buck had Marco a bit surprised, but, it did explain why Somnium had been so interested and distracted. The sight of the buck got a little hope from Somnium however, who went to look out another window to see if he couldn't see the other guardian. It was a guardian right? Probably. It wasn't Marco's concern and pausing he went over to the door, and with not even a hint of hesitation, Somnium bounded out into the snow. Who cared about cold when they was another guardian after all. "It'll be easier with just us in here. And a hole in the snow?" Not the most uncommon thing to have happen all things considered. Looking down at the foot in question Patia had the right of it. Not likely broken as it wasn't at an odd angle but- "I'm going to have to apply some pressure. Tell me if it gets too bad." Bending down to his knees, he lifted the foot slowly, fingers pressing to feel the bone. "Have you considered taking a walking stick to feel for holes and such?"

Osa could hear the other buck coming. He shook out his fur and flicked his ears around before taking a step back incase her came bounding around the corner too fast and bulled into him. Patia smiled as the buck bounded out. Osa would enjoy the company, she was sure and nodded in agreement to Marco. It would be easier. "Not sure how to explain it better. But yea, hole in the snow, or hole hidden by snow." She sighed at his next question. "Hadn't had a problem till now. I've gone over those hills and roads many times before... don't know how I got into this mess." Patia was feeling a tad grumpy, but she tried not to show it, until he hit a very tender part. She sucked in a breath through clenched teeth and screwed her eyes shut a moment. "Ah-yah, that hurts." She sputtered out.

Marco nodded, pulling his hands away when she expressed pain. "I see. Well, if you'll pardon my blunt manner, but at your age bones are weaker and brittle. A walking stick in the snow is almost required, not because you need it to walk, but only to test your path and prevent a nasty fall." He sat back, looking her in the eye. "So long as there is snow, after this I'm going to have to say take to a walking stick. No matter how often you travel a path, accidents do happen." Somnium could feel Marco being his normal self, meaning well but poorly showing it. The buck brushed it off, looking more towards Osa. Head tilting he gave a small grunt before he bowed his head a bit. A small glance at the home Somnium shuffled, wondering if his presence had required the other to remain outside. Marco was unaware to his guardian's antics only droning on at Patia. "I didn't feel a break, but you might have a crack or, a deep sprain. Have you been applying heated towels to it when and if it's flared up?"

Osa pranced in his spot, swinging his head playfully from side to side. Then he lowered his head and neck down for a bow in greeting and bellowed his hello.
Patia glanced to the window, being able to hear Osa and feel his amusement in meeting a new guardian. The both of them kept so far out that it wasn't often they met them.
At Marco's question she gave him an odd look, she could hardly move to get up right now, how could she get any towels?
"No, I've jus' been keepin' it elevated." She grunted softly. "To help keep swellin' down. And tryin' not ta move much." Patia sank down against her bed in some defeat.

Patia's odd look was responded with the expression of nothing, bordering apathy. Only the smallest hint of concern could be seen in his eyes. "As good as anything I supposed. You're a bit far out to have someone come to assist you, but with your age and living arrangement as of now, you'll need someone to stay with you and help while you heal. Even if it is as simple as shoveling snow or getting more firewood, the more work or burden put on you will make your sprain worse and could possibly cripple. Age is not kind to healing." Rummaging in his bad, two vials were brought out. "I can as someone to come and check on you twice a day, morning a evening. They can help with some chores and such. Other than that I have these." The first vial he held up was tall and thin, an amber liquid inside. "An infusion of some various herbs and spices in honey. warm it with some water, just a spoonful at night will help ward off some of the deeper pains that typically come with age and injuries. Th other bottle-" he held up a small fat blue bottle. Uncorking it, small white pills fell out, "-twice a day after you've eaten. Don't chew unless you want a bitter taste in your mouth. This will help the swelling. Once the swelling goes down you can try to massage the sprain to help circulation. Apply heat when you can-" Pausing Marco sighed. "I am not droning am I?"
