As he did after every Fall, F'law sat in his weyr running the leather from his riding harness through his hands. It was the best way to check for defects. Zurith rested in his weyr. Their injuries had been slathered with numbweed and bandaged. The leather is stretched by this buckle. He informed the blue as he ran the leather through his fingers again. It was stretched. It'd have to be replaced before next Fall.

His two flits started chittering at each other as they picked up the thought. F'law smiled at his 'supervisors'. They always watched him do this. There was numerous score marks dotting the leather as well. He grimace at those. Most of the harness would have to be replaced for safety. Feel up to hunting some wild wherries for the leather? The rider asked his watching blue.

Zurith shifted slightly, mindfull of his injuries. That is good. Have them remeasure me aswell. It was chaffing under my right arm. The dark blue considered the proposition. The Weyr had leather, but with so many dragons to supply it might be awhile before they was enough for their harness. Tomorrow we will go hunting Mine.

F'law gave a nod. He figured Zurith would see it his way. They coul do with some fresh meat too. He slowly undid the knots and fastens that held the buckles to the leather, then tossed the old harness to the side. Hopefully someone could find a use for the old beat up leather.

N'mol had been talking Wingleader business with D'lin for the better part of the afternoon, but when he had checked in with Wi'vren later on he'd been informed that in his absence one of his Blueriders, F'law, had been asking after him. Although N'mol could have let it go and checked in with F'law when next he saw him, he opted to see if the Bluerider was in his temporary weyr.

N'mol always tried to field questions as they came. That F'law hadn't had Zurith bespeak Tyeth said it wasn't anything too important, but N'mol liked to keep on top of things with his wingriders (especially those as dedicated to the Wing as F'law). If F'law had to talk to him, it was better that N'mol make sure he got back to him. Wi'vren seemed less concerned, but N'mol had not only his image to keep up, but wingriders who he took pride in knowing trusted him.

Tyeth provided the transportation to the door, sending a polite greeting to Zurith as he landed to let N'mol off.

Though Zurith had likely already informed his rider of the Bronze's arrival, N'mol knocked on the door anyway. "F'law, it's N'mol. Wi'vren said you were looking for me earlier."

Zurith turned his head as he sensed the larger dragon landing outside, and rumbled a greeting. That was all the warning he gave his rider.

Soon as he tossed the old leather aside, his two flits pounced on it; squirming and wiggling as they cheeped from amid the straps. F'law watched them until Zurith rumbled at some unknown dragon. It wasn't usually like him to greet someone just passing by. So he could only assume someone was coming to see him. It wasn't long before a familiar voice came from his doorway.

"Come in N'mol," the bluerider said quickly, standing. "I didn't think you'd be done talking to the other Wingleaders so soon. Thank you for getting back to me." F'law frowned slightly with a wrinkle between his brows. There was definately something he wanted to talk about. "Please have a seat." He gestured around to the chair for N'mol to pick, and to give himself a bit more time to think.

After his wingleader was settled, F'law sat down. Leaning his elbows on his knees, he cleared his throat. "I understand if you can't answer any of this, and won't hold it against you. When we first got here, the ragged tatters of a once proud wing of Benden, there was fire in us to free our home weyr and burn the wherhandlers out." He paused and glanced at N'mol to see how he was taking these words.

"Now I hear less and less about. Almost as if they are accepting the fact that we live here at Trine now, and we aren't Benden riders anymore." To him, it still felt like a temporary situation. That any day they'd strike out to retake Benden. It would be a hard fight to be sure, as dragons couldn't hurt people, whers could; dragons couldn't fit into the small spaces, whers could. How were they going to really do this?

He knew that eventually someone was going to ask the question, so N'mol couldn't say that he was surprised. Like F'law, N'mol had also questioned many times the slowly flagging attention to the idea of retaking their home and Malvren's and driving the traitorous canines who had taken it from them to the distant rocky isles for the remainder of their miserable lives. It seemed as if everyone-- himself included-- had adjusted to the idea of settling in at Trine for the foreseeable future before-- if-- they orchestrated a counterstrike.

His face was somber and his eyes distant as he turn his thoughts over, then he leaned forward in his chair, gaze direct and mouth set in a way that was almost a frown.

"We are still Benden riders. Whether people are adjusting to living here or not, I still consider all of the riders who are now part of our wing to be Benden riders. I haven't changed our knots, and I don't intend to let that happen."

Not without extenuating circumstances, anyway.

"We don't talk about it much. You're right. Mostly we're trying to help rebuild Trine, get all of the riders back on their feet with a stable place to fall back to before we try to challenge Keller and the Revolutionary scum who aided him. But the goal hasn't been forgotten." N'mol shook his head to emphasize his point, "I still think about it. Every day. You're right, the riders seem to be more comfortable with the idea of staying here now, but if we're going to work with the riders from other Weyrs, riders of all types, that has to happen."

N'mol leaned back and rested against the chair, leaning one arm on the table and letting the other fall across his leg. "Retaking Benden may not happen for some time--" especially since it seems like the other Weyrs aren't going to be willing to help-- "But we will attempt it. We're not Trine riders yet, and we won't be so long as I can help it."
