 Cassava moved along the rough ground quickly. It wasn't often that he ventured down the mountain, unless following Pirata or performing a specific task down this way. But today he had to itch to go down there and explore, mostly though he wanted to see if he could find a few more bones to add to his growing collection. The mountain and it's surrounding lands were often littered with kills that fed Pirata's spiders as well as the few Kalona that were a part of her army. Even though he was clealy Pirata's pet Cassava couldn't just walk up to a Kalona while he feasted and demand the bones of the kill go to him. No the Kalona just wouldn't allow that so he had to wait, sometimes a day or two before venturing down to the kill site to seek out his prizes.
As rock began to give way to dry grass Cassava lowered his head, nose close to the group as he sniffed his way around. If anyone too a quick glance at him they may have mistaken him for a wolf strictly by his behavior. But the stallion was far from that, even if his actions and mentality often reflected the canine way.
Following an interesting scent Cassava moved further away from the base of the mountain, his tail growling in displeasure but also acting as a look out for those who may come upon the stallion from behind. With a snort Cassava lost the trail, it might very well have been a rabbit scent he was following and this was the spot where an eagle or hawk had picked it off. It was an open enough area for the predatory birds to swoop down. After a few moments of sniffing around trying to pick up the scent again Cassava moved on, following a well worn game trail that often led to shells of kills where he could acquire new bones.

 Zhutkaya found herself wandering as she usually did. Since she rarely stuck around her family anymore, save for the few visits she made to her father, she liked to roam. She was never lonely, for she had her best friend sat upon her back. The lone nail poking out of his head glinted in the sunlight as the odd mare plodded along.
She kept to the dark parts of the forest mostly, for it was usually devoid of soquili with judging eyes. But for some reason, she had chosen to venture a bit outside her comfort zone into the open. Her friend thought it might be a good idea for her to get some sunlight. Kaya wasn't too sure about his reasoning, arguing that he'd get sunburn with his pale complexion. He didn't answer her.
"You're grumpy today," she mused, glancing over her shoulder at her friend. "But here I am, getting sun. Though I don't really need it," she peered around, nervous of encountering others. "You know I don't like being out in the open," she rambled. "Too many eyes. Yes too many," she muttered.
You're being dramatic Kaya heard in her head. This was her friend. He spoke to her this way because he was too shy to talk out loud - at least that's what he told her. He was very special. He kept her company and kept her sane (or so she thought).
"Oh now you're talking to me," Kaya smiled, glancing around the clearing - calmly this time."So why are we- ooh look at that!"
Zhutkaya quickened her steps when she caught sight of some sort of long-dead animal. All flesh had been picked clean, and the dirty bones were all that was left. She blinked and nudged at them with her hoof.
"Look at that - picked clean. Someone was hungry!" she grinned, red eyes swirling. She continued to poke and prod at the remains, her attention so focused that she did not notice a presence approaching.

With his nose practically glued to the ground Cassava moved along at a quick lope following the various scents on the ground. Some would send him back the way he had just come while others would take him away from the trail but in the end he would keep coming back to the trail knowing from past experience it always led to something of interest. Familiar scents of dirt mixed with an ever present lingering smell of death reminded him that he was still close to home, close to his master. Hearing something in the distance Cassava's head shot up, his purple eyes scanned the area in front of him and as he slowed down his pace a bit he finally found the source of the sound. Immediately he skidded to a stop. This was the first time he had seen another of his kind, most of Pirata's minions were of the larger breeds. His head tipped to the side as he watched the other curiously for a few moments, but when he saw she was near corpse that was nothing more than a pile of bones now he instantly snapped into defensive more.
"Mine!" He shouted and raced forward closing the gap between them. How dare she go near his bones! Even if he had only just came across them in Cassava's mind all bones in and around Pirata's land were by default his. Why some of the slaves even delivered him bones on a regular basis to keep Pirata happy, which in turn made Cassava happy. As he stared at her intent on chasing off this menace his tail let out a low growl. Slowly Cassava's eyes rolled over the mares body and when they settled on her tail his head tipped to the side again. Her tail was different, not quite like his was but he knew it wasn't normal.
His attention returned quickly to the task at hand and that was protecting his bones. Stepping forward Cassava stood protectively over it. "Bones belong to me." He told her with a growl. Part of his mind told him he needed to capture this mare and bring her back to Pirata as a present, but the larger part told hi his bones needed to be protected and for the time being that was the part he listened to.

Kaya blinked her swirling eyes as the male came at her. She took a moment to look over his skull-like face markings before she snapped to attention. Had he said the bones belonged to him? She had found them first!
"Hey, I got here first, buddy!" she pouted with a glare, moving to circle him. She'd only really want a skull. She liked those. He could have the rest - ah what! What was that! Kaya's eyes had locked onto the odd tail the male usdia possessed. Was that a - a skull?! In his tail?!
Don't get too close to it. Her friend warned.
"But it's so cool!" she whined, getting closer. She averted her attention to the other soquili.
"Hey, can I play with your tail? You can have the bones... maybe. Yeah okay you can have the bones - but I wanna play with your tail!" she grinned, eyes swirling happily at this new development. She'd never seen something like this on another soquili before! This was new and exciting and odd. She loved it.

"NO!" He snapped at her when she claimed to have gotten here first. "Live here, so bones are mine!" How dare she come so close to Pirata's territory and claim that these bones were hers just because he hadn't been there when she had gotten there. This made him realize that the other bones scattered around the case of the mountain were in jeopardy of being stolen by others as well. Now he was torn for a moment, protect the bones here or go and make sure the others were safe. In the end he decided to stay where he was, later he would ask Pirata if he could use some of the slaves and have them move the bones to his little cave further up the mountain, then they would be safe.
Her next words brought him out of these thoughts and he tipped his head to the side in confusion. What was so cool? Did she mean it was cool that he lived here? No, he didn't think it was that and before he could ask what she meant she was asking him about playing with his tail.
"Play?" His head tipped the other way. What the heck did that mean? He was fairly certain he had heard the word once before but couldn't remember what it meant. Giving his head a solid shake he looked at the mare. "Tail not for play." He told her plainly even if he still wasn't sure what that word meant. But then just when his tail growled at the mare as it waved back and forth he thought of something. What if he brought this mare back with him? She was odd enough looking that Pirata would likely approve of her presence. And if Pirata was happy then Cassava was happy. Why he could make this mare a slave of his own, or give her to Pirata, yes he would give her to Pirata, his master deserved new slaves. Not to mention it would be nice to have another one like him around, even if she had tried to take his bones. "You...help bring bones up mountain to home...then you can play with tail." He gave his head an enthusiastic nod, tongue lolling out of his mouth.
