A black dot. Something about that seemed cosmically..amusing, to be honest. In fact, it seemed to be something right out of pirate lore, as far as she understood the fiction written by humans. So in that sense, marking a human with a black dot for death was entirely amusing.
Still, there was something about 'timezones' that was kind of difficult to put her FEAR around - literally. Shehk didn't understand human world timezones. Certainly they existed in Halloween, but how did the FEAR put into a Mark actually effect the alignment of the skies when she was just going to be....
Confusing, really.
But she apparently had a firm enough grasp on the idea of it to make something that was at least semi cohesive enough to maybe work. She hoped.

Well. She wasn't sure what she should have been expecting out of the human world besides buildings anymore. It almost seemed like everywhere she went, she was starting to see nothing but buildings. How did they live that way, she wondered - if only briefly - as she pulled another newspaper out of a recycling bin, carefully tucking it into her jacket for later reading before continuing on her way.
Could she read it?
Probably not, but she had buildings to navigate - and people to mark - while the sun was still up. She didn't expect to have a long day that day. Her visit was an excuse - a pretense now. She had a few humans to mark, however, and then it would be back to the drawing board for a while.
Just for a little bit.

She could hear voices as she moved between the buildings carefully, her step light to keep from disrupting the world that could be seen while she could not be. People were looked over curiously as she moved towards a small assembled crowd, peering around them before standing on her toes to see over them.
There was a man - disheveled and looking as though he hadn't shaved or taken a shower in several days - standing up on top of a box, shouting about something. From the sounds of the people around her, there was a slight tension - some agreed, others sounded like they were in protest of this idea. Oh, a battle cry would have been delicious there, but...
No.
She carefully moved amongst the people, touching a few hands barely, her fingers leaving an inky black mark on their arms and hands where she came in contact with their flesh.
It wasn't a lot to start with, but she was more curious about what was going on, to some extent. Humans would die, yes, but... what had gathered them to begin with?

The man talked for a long time in a tongue she could....barely understand. Something about reform. Something about government. Something about how if they continued this way, there would be nothing but ruin. Shehk actually listened aptly, trying to glean what was happening. It struck a chord with her.
It was exactly how she felt.
Sudden movement out of the corner of her eye caused her to look towards it, tilting her head slightly before trailing after a pair of individuals who looked like they were ducking out to go somewhere else, apparently tired of the discussion that was going on. For a while, it looked like their meandering was almost pointless, and she may have been better staying behind to listen to the man on the box.
Until the pair walked into a bar filled with people, all of whom were canoodling, talking, drinking, laughing. Glasses were passed, slammed on counters..
It wasn't hard to touch each of them, to leave her mark on each of them. To listen with an almost faint familiarity to the language.

There were individuals singing out in the street, and as they passed by the bar, Shehk reached out, touching them lightly with a small frown. They were just moving on their own time.
And would die on their own time.

Eventually, Shehk settled into an indoor market, sitting at one of the tables and sipping at a coffee she'd stolen from a local corner market while she looked over the newspaper she'd stolen from one of the recycling bins, reading the headlines idly to get an idea of what was happening in that part of the human world.
They were interesting, actually. In a sort of twisted way. The way some people complained about the state of their food before it was food. The government was corrupt. The government wasn't doing anything. There were wars.
There were too many humans, and too much to fight about. It almost mirrored the way things were at home, in a way.
Still, it put enough ideas in her head to make her realize one thing - she had something she needed to do. She needed to start doing it now or else she was going to be too late to do it. Almost immediately she popped up to her feet, discarding the coffee cup and heading back to the portal she'd come from to get back to her lair.
She had some planning to do.
