Time: Late Afternoon
Place: Palisade
What's going on: Neculai went to Palisade to sell herbs, but was mistaken by the people as the pale stranger and a large commotion happened where Janais saw. Neculai is then taken to Janais' home to recover.

These were dangerous times now. The rumors of wolves have spread like wildfire after hearing about the sighting of these large creatures up north. The people of Palisade now have been taking extra precaution now as they patrol the city both day and night in case if they dare to step paw here in their humble home and to protect their family and loved ones. But among the rumors, there was one that was fairly interesting to hear about. The wolves were not alone. Among them was a man who was described to be abnormally pale, tall, and slender who appears like an omen. It frightens the people even more that a human is on their side and took in the appearance to their minds in case if they happen to see him . . . however, some of them already have, before the incident occurred.

A young man walked into the city now, bundled up from the sheer cold and shrouded in his blue cloak and hood. His appearance is hidden to all prying eyes, except for the digits of his fingers that were exposed from the woolen gloves that were made to keep him warm. Neculai Vulpes, or better known as Fox, a young herb seller, received them as a gift from his sister to keep him warm even though they weren’t finished for she ran out of yarn; he still loved them although his slender porcelain fingers are exposed to the cold. He carried a woven basket in his arm full of hardy herbs that dare grows in this cold season to the fine people of Palisade. But he has to sell some in order to support his family and even brave the travel from Oldcastle all the way to Palisade to do so even though his mother and sisters suggested that he shouldn’t. There was lightness in his walk; springing up a bit as he steps in his little skips. How odd to see a man acting in such a manner? But then again, the people know that it’s Fox . . . and their glares steady upon the young man.

“When the ice rests thick upon the mere; when the fields lie fallow, far and near—We wash the snow from our narrow bier, For the Wolves are almost here . . .” Fox sang a little of the children’s rhyme that he knew ever since he was a little boy to himself as he giggled. He liked the melody very much so and sings it to himself whenever he felt like it. But apparently, the people weren’t too pleased to hear that as the merchants who are selling their wares out in the open heard him and watched his every move. They even caught him tripping over one of the lifted cobble stones; hopping a bit on one leg as he angrily cursed at the stupid stone. How . . . threatening. “Neculai!” An older male called out to his attention, the butcher to be precise seeing the blood stained apron cinched around his waist as he walks up to him. He stopped to see the man underneath his hood as he his eyes squinted a bit to see him better if possible. “Oh! Hello, are you interested in buy—” His words were cut off when the butcher slapped his basket out of his hand as it fell to the floor and the herbs spilled about. Fox gasped loudly as that happened as he looked up to the man, wanting to know why he did that but he saw the menacing glare which made him silence his question and slowly stepping back away.

“You! Why the devil are you singing that song? Are you trying to bring the wolves here?!” “N-no! I’m not. I-I . . . I was just tr—” He was once again interrupted when he bumped into another man who was standing behind him to block his escape and Fox quickly bounced away from the other man. “I bet he is. Just look at him John, trying to hide his appearance underneath that stupid cloak.” The other man reached out and grabbed his cloak and Fox quickly held on to his hood to keep it down and covering himself as he was roughly yanked closer to the man only to be sneered at when the man saw his face and was shoved to the cobblestone. The young man let out a cry in pain upon contact as he felt his face being scraped a bit. “Pale . . . just like that b*****d at the inn. And now, he’s going to bring the wolves over. To us!” He shouted out loud to draw people’s attention over to them as a crowd is slowly starting to form around Fox. The young man couldn’t believe that this was happening. And all because he had to sing that stupid song and now he’s sobbing in fear of what might happen.

Seeing the figure of his basket in front of him, Fox tried to crawl up to get it but the butcher saw what was happening and stepped his heavy boots right on the young man’s hand, digging right into the skin. He let out an ear piercing scream in sheer pain and felt a rock hitting him right on his head. A child did it, remembering seeing his father did that once before and did the same to Fox. Luckily the cloak protected his head but not from the bump that will grow from there. “I’M SORRY!” He yelled out loud. “I’m sorry, please . . . let me go . . . let me go! I didn’t do anything!” The butcher twisted his foot on his hand even more making Fox writhe in pain. “Shut it with the lies you monster!” A few more rocks were tossed at him as he curled up into a ball, crying his heart out, wanting to go home.

It had been a normal, quiet day for Janais. He had been off in one of the small villages close to Palisade to try and sell some of his jewelry there. However, it only proved to be quite pointless since most people there were either too poor or didn't bother to turn a single eye towards him. Tch, stuck up snobs. Really, did they not know fine jewelry when they saw it? Apparently not. At least that's what Janais figured. But, it was bound to happen since that's how it usually was whenever he went to small villages. He didn't like going to them but he had no choice since he did want to expand his sales to places other than Palisade and Oldcastle. Some days were good and some days were bad and there wasn't much else he could do about that other than just hoping for a good day whenever he went out to the smaller towns to sell his jewelry. Or just hope that people wouldn't be so cheap.

Just as he was heading into the city though, Jan came across a rather . . . . disturbing scene. In front of him he could see that someone was pinned down on the ground, having his hand crushed by a heavy boot, and seeing that people were actually throwing rocks at whoever it was. And then suddenly, that ear piercing scream . . . it made Janais feel sick to his stomach as he quickly rushed over to the crowd to see just what the hell were they were so riled up over. What the hell what happening here?! They were throwing rocks at a poor innocent boy? A . . . a monster? How the hell was he a monster?! This was just disgusting . . . Quickly, he pushed past the people in front of him and quickly shoved the man that was crushing the poor person's hand with his boot, sending him stumbling into the crowd around them. "Don't you sick bastards have anything better to do with your time?!" the Egyptian man hissed as he gave a low, dangerous growl, kneeling down over top the man curled up into a ball on the ground. He gently placed his hands on his shoulders to tell him that it was okay, although if one were to take a look at his face they would know that it definitely was not okay. "Get lost already!" he yelled at the crowd, seeing some people backing away and going back to their activities. Although he noticed that the butcher was still there which made Jan reach to a sash he currently had around his waist to hold his jewelry and other supplies, pulling a small but sharp looking knife from it, pointing it up at the butcher. "I said . . . Get. Lost." The words were hissed angrily through grit teeth, which thankfully the butcher finally backed off, leaving the two alone.

Jan got off from on top of the man on the ground, holding onto him tightly as he gently helped him up to sit. He looked to see if he was alright on the outside, but so far . . . it didn't look like it. Those rocks had probably done a lot of damaged to the man's body and also by looking at the hand that had been stepped on . . . it looked broken and crushed. For some very odd reason, it pained him so much to see something like this happen to what he assumed was an innocent man. Why would someone do this to him? Jan moved to kneel down in front of the roughed up man, a concerned look in his eyes as he tried to get him to look at him since the cloak he wore was pretty much covering him completely still. "Are you alright?" he asked in a gentle voice as he pulled away from him a little since he really wasn't sure if he wanted him to be close to him or anything. He knew that if he were in the other's position, he wouldn't want anyone to be near him either.

Letting out a soft sigh, Jan stood back up properly and went to pick up the basket he noticed that wasn't too far away, frowning as he saw herbs scattered all over the place. There were still some in the basket though and he was sure not to let any more of them spill as he picked it up and brought it back over to the injured stranger. "This is yours, isn't it?" The placed the basket down beside the man, offering both of his hands to him to help him stand since the road was dirty and it wasn't a good idea to be sitting on it. Unless he enjoyed the dirt . . . but who would? "How about you come with me back to my place and I help clean you up a little? I'm sure your hand could use some bandaging . . . does it hurt a lot? It might be broken . . . I can help with that if it is. Or even take you to a doctor if you'd like." Why he was being so nice . . . Janais wasn't really too sure. But he somehow felt compelled to do so or else he would regret it very much. From past experiences, Jan figured that he should go with his first instinct so there was no point questioning it. "Ah . . . I'm Janais, by the way."

He couldn’t believe it. Fox really can’t believe that maybe he’s going to die. It feels as though he’s going to die because everything just hurt so much. The people where throwing rocks at him and already he can’t feel a single thing at his left hand; steadily being crushed under the butcher’s shoe. Tears were streaming continuously down his cheek as he clenched on to his hood just wanting it to be over. “I’m sorry . . . . sorry . . . please.” He begged, barely in a small audible voice. He was innocent of the situation. He tried to tell them but it was just useless. Everything felt so useless now that they don’t believe him at all and Fox lies on the cold floor, waiting for everything to be over and thing that this is nothing but a nightmare.

However, he felt the weight off his hand suddenly and the voice of a man booming above him as he yelled at the crowd. The young albino has no idea what was going on but he was still frighten by the sudden new voice. He felt hands on his shoulder and it made him flinch upon contact as Fox lower his body down to the ground more. There were too many people around him and he wants them all to go away but hearing the stranger’s voice once again, it slowly brought a small sense of relief. The sounds of footsteps were slowly vanishing, although he couldn’t help but to shudder after hearing the stranger telling someone to get away from them and the angry hissing. “Oh god . . .” The stranger sounds so scary even though he hasn’t seen him. And now that’s them alone, Fox was afraid to look up. Why didn’t he listen to his family this morning and stay home instead?

Suddenly, he felt the arms around him, causing him to flinch once again and gasp in a panic. Fox thought that he was going to get hurt but he realized that the stranger was just helping him to sit up on the ground instead. Soft sobbing sounds were still heard from him as Fox tries to calm down. His crimson eyes looked down to see his left hand only to see it all blurry from his vision. But he could feel the pain radiating through. He tried to move only his fingers only to yelp in pain as it felt like it’s broken. When the stranger asked him he was okay, Fox merely nod his head as a yes. “I-innocent . . . the wolves . . . I didn’t . . . do it.” All the mean people were gone now so he’s okay . . . for now.

It dawned on to him that he lost his basket from earlier. His crimson eyes scanned around the surrounding area under the safety of his hood to look for his basket. Pale, slender fingers groped along the cold cobble stone to find it as well as the herbs that were knocked down too. But the stranger was kind to him again and brought the basket to his side as he looked over to see. “Ah!” A soft, airy gasp was heard as he instantly clings to it and brought it closer with his good hand to see. “Oh . . . my herbs . . .” Fox muttered under his breath seeing that some of them were gone. It made him sad since it was hard to find any during the winter season but at least he has a majority of them which was good. He still needs to sell some for his family and that’s important to him.

Seeing a dark figure in his sight had scared him a bit. He leaned a little closer to see better and saw that it was his hand. It surprised him that he was tanned and merely assumed that the stranger has pale skin like everyone here in Palisade. But Fox slowly took his offered hand, his porcelain fingers grazed his skin softly into a firm grip and he stood up from the ground. The young man wobbled a bit in his stance for he could feel just how sore his body was but he held his ground as he pressed his left arm close to his body where he held his basket. Fox looked up slightly when he hears the stranger speaking again; his pale lips now visible for him to see and realize . . . he’s very tall. Going to his house? No . . . the albino wasn’t sure about that even though he knows that he needs the medical attention, especially about his hand. But hearing about going to see a doctor instead made him tremendously nervous since it means that he’s going to see another person. “No!” He instantly clings to his side, holding his hand tightly so suddenly. “I-I’m sorry . . . . . but no, no more people . . . please.” He was very tired today and he doesn’t want to see any other person. Not for now at least.

When learning his name, he pronounced it in mind over and over before he spoke to him. “Jan . . . ais.” It sounded different, but nice. It sounds lovely to him. “Neculai Vulpes . . . or Fox . . . whichever you like really . . . I don’t mind.” His voice sounded weak as it trails off to the end. The young albino was just very tired and wanted to rest.

It absolutely broke Jan's heart to see someone who looked so innocent, like he had done nothing wrong at all, to be curled up on the ground like this. Seeing him so isolated from society, being treated like he was so different from him . . . it made him remember a few things of his own past that he had never wanted to remember. As a child he had been very troublesome as he had tried to pick pocket and steal from pretty much anyone, anywhere and anytime. He was thrown to the floor often and kicked as punishment, often times slapped across the face as a scolding, and he could also remember having rocks thrown at him as well in order just to get him to leave somewhere. He was a lot different from many citizens of Palisade, quite possibly Sunderland as well, as he had dark tanned skin as opposite to the pale white that most people had. It led to people thinking that he was a no good greedy street rat looking for anything he could get his hands on, but really, he was just trying to bring something home in order to give it to his family. He had two brothers and his parents . . . but they were poor. They could barely even afford their own one bedroom home that felt like it was a shack. So seeing someone else getting the same treatment he had received before . . . it angered him so much. It had to just be because he looked different . . . but that was so low of people to think of it that way. Janais absolutely hated it.

Seeing that the pale stranger had taken his hand and his offer of help to stand, Jan couldn't help but feel relieved. At least he seemed to trust him a little bit, which was good. After all Jan didn't want to scare of the other. All he wanted to do was help him. He was about to move away from him as he decided he was good enough to stand on his own, but suddenly when he had mentioned going to a doctor he felt him cling to his side instantly, staring down at him with wide green eyes. What was . . . he doing? Did he really hate the doctor that much? Or did he hate other people so much? Jan had a feeling it was the latter, because he really he wouldn't blame him for hating other people so much. Many were cruel, cruel human beings that didn't give a single thought to how the way they treated others might affect them in the long run . . . even just short term too. Just thinking of it made him absolutely seething with anger so he quickly tried to push the thoughts away and move on from it.

For some reason, it really made Janais smile hearing the stranger speak his name. It sounded nice coming from his lips . . . and it made him want to hear him say it more often. "I also go by Jan, if you would prefer," he told him with a soft smile since he knew it might be easier for the man to understand. Hearing the stranger's name also made him smile though, happy that he opened up enough to tell him. Neculai . . . that was a rather lovely name, he had to admit. Although . . . Fox . . . was that a nickname of some sort? It made him wonder why he went by it, but at the same time it sounded oddly . . . cute. Very cute, in fact, so he couldn't help but smile a little wider. "It's nice to meet you, Fox."

Just as Jan was about to suggest he just come back to his place and he will bandage him up and make sure nothing is broken, the sound of trotting hooves were heard upon the gravel dirt road they stood upon. From beside Jan, a large buck appeared, peering down at Fox as he stood at his chosen's side. It surprised Janais a little as he peered over at his guardian, giving a soft smile. "Ah . . . there you are Gamil," he said as he reached over to affectionately pet his neck before turning to look at Fox. ". . . hope he doesn't scare you. But this is Gamil. He's friendly, I promise." Actually, they were both oddly friendly, him and Gamil. Usually, he himself was bitter and cruel . . . and Gamil was usually the same as his chosen. So when Gamil actually moved closer to Fox to get a better look at him, it surprised Jan when he saw the buck lowering his head a little to nudge Fox in the cheek, as if to tell Jan he approved of him. Pfft, like he needed Gamil's approval! Strange deer . . . "I think he wants you to say hi back to him," Janais said with a small toothy grin before he moved a little closer as well. Well, as long as Gamil was behaving himself. "Anyway, how about we head back to my place? I'll bandage you up . . . in fact, you can even ride on Gamil, so you don't have to walk anymore. I can tell your tired . . ." Even just as he said that, Gamil even lowered himself down to the ground a little so Fox could actually climb onto his back and Jan also offered a hand to help him up. He just wanted Fox to be okay.

It wasn’t that he hates people. He likes people very much as some of them turned out to be nice. But it was just today and now he doesn’t want to see anyone else because he fears that the longer he stays outside there would be another scene like that. Fox wanted to hide away just like the animal to lick his wounds up before he can go home later on. But that won’t be the case as he is with a man who wants to help him which was very odd to him. It still puzzled him why the man is helping him especially after what had happen. “Jan . . .” He addressed to him with his nickname. It seems easy for him to pronounce and to remember as well but still nice all the same. But it was even nicer to hear his nickname from the nice stranger as he smiled underneath his hood and gave a soft nod of his head. “Nice to meet you too Jan . . .”

He didn’t expect that Jan had some company with him at all at that moment. The young man heard the sounds like hooves which made him wonder what it could be. His world is blurry and cloudy and things that he sees can have the endless possibilities of what they really are and Fox had to rely on his ears. He heard Jan addressing this sound as Gamil which made the young albino to look up and try to see who this friendly Gamil was. But he wasn’t expecting a soft nudge on his cheek which surprised him greatly as he gasped out in surprised and took a step back. Once he calmed down, Fox stepped forward to greet this Gamil as he pushed his hood back only a little bit to see him better and up close. Much to his surprise, it was a deer! A buck really, but he looked very handsome which made him smile as he lift his hand up to pet him on the head gently. “Hello . . . it’s nice to meet you too Gamil.” He giggled softly as he continued to pet him. He loves animals very much and so Gamil had made him feel relax.

Hearing that he can ride him made Fox very excited, even more than being bandaged up, as he fixed his hood to cover his face again before looking up at Jan. “All right . . . that’s very kind of you Jan.” Fox said as he looks at the hand that was given to him and took it for help. His injured hand was tucked against his body as he helped up on top of the buck and swung his leg over the creature. Upon sitting up high, he couldn’t help but to let his legs kick a bit as he giggled. It felt great to not walk; especially when his boots are crushing his toes right now. But as they traveled to Jan’s home, Fox could feel that he was being stared at by the people around them as it made him feel uneasy to which he pulls his cloak to cover himself up more and glance down at Jan. “. . . why did you help me?” He was curious. “It was a mistake to do that . . .” That is what he believes, hearing the sad tone of voice.
PostPosted: Thu Feb 07, 2013 9:46 pm

The way Gamil had greeted Fox still made Jan laugh softly but he really just hoped that Fox wouldn't be too freaked out by it. One thing Jan noticed was that the other had pushed his hood back slightly and Jan managed to catch a glimpse of his ever so pale skin as well as white strands of hair that made his eyes widen slightly. Ah . . . albino? Is that what caused him problems with all the other people? It made Jan sad to know that they had harassed him like that just because of the way he looked but he supposed there was really nothing he could do about it . . . unless he stayed by his side in order to protect him but realistically that was impossible so he completely forgot about the thought. Gamil seemed to like Fox though which made him extremely happy. Usually the buck was hostile around strangers and didn't greet them in such an affectionate, friendly way. Strange.

The walk back to his home was rather quiet except for the sound of Gamil's hooves and the odd whisper of strangers in the distance which made Jan feel oddly angry. Couldn't they just mind their own business?! He looked up when Fox suddenly spoke up, glancing back at him to see that he had covered himself up more with his cloak again which only made him frown slightly. What made him frown more though was the fact that Fox seemed to think that it was a mistake for him to help him out. Pfft. "Because . . . I wanted to," he told him simply, flashing a charming smile. "It was wrong of those people to do such mean things to someone like you, who I assume hasn't done a single wrong thing . . . so I couldn't let it go ignored." That was all he said on the subject though as they were nearing his home already.

Both Jan and Gamil came to a stop in front of a fairly sized home. Gamil lowered himself down closer to the ground so that Fox would be able to climb off safely which Jan also offered him his hand for help. "I never noticed just how cold it was. Let's hurry inside, okay Fox?" Jan said, flashing a friendly smile as he put his hand on Fox's back gently, guiding him through the front yard to the front door, unlocking the door quickly before he let Fox go inside first. Once inside Jan shut the door and locked it again, slipping off his coat and hanging it off to the side on his coat stand, also unbutton the buttons of his shirt a little as well before looking down at Fox. "So . . . let's go to the bathroom, alright? So I can get you fixed up and make sure there's nothing broken," he said as he started towards it, expecting the other to follow. Although he realized something . . . something that Fox would probably not like. Once reaching it, he turned on the lit a few of the lamps in the bathroom before turning back to look at face. "Just take a sit on the edge of the tub. And, I . . . um, I'm going to have to ask you to take off your cloak, as well as the rest of your clothes. But I don't mean anything suggestive by it! Not at all! It will just be easier that way, that's all."

It didn’t make much sense to him, hearing that Jan intervene just because he wanted to and saying so with such a bright smile. It’s true he hasn’t done a single thing but just his presence now with the rumor of the wolves does make everyone uneasy. That and including he was singing the nursery rhyme which made it all worse but he kept that information to himself. But Fox was silent, only giving a small nod to him in response for he still believes it was a bad idea to do. He then looked up to see what appears to be a home and most likely Jan’s home as he felt Gamil stopping and lowering his body down so he can slip off with the assistance of Jan as he took his hand. He has to agree with him though. The poor man is frozen down to the very bone.

Inside, Fox felt extremely warm in comparison to the cold. He wanted to savor the moment just standing there but he knew he can’t as the other male has spoken about going to the bathroom to check on his injuries. He can see him moving away and so Fox quickly placed his basket down on the floor and hurried behind him and noticed how dark it was until Jan lit a few lamps to light up the room. He couldn’t help but to stare in awe at his entire house because it was so much bigger than his home with his family. But as he was moving closer to the tub to sit at the edge, he was suddenly petrified by his words. “W-what?!” The young man stuttered as he looked up to see him. Taking off his clothes? In front of a stranger?! He couldn’t do that. Even Jan can see that as Fox turned away and clinging on to his cloak like his security blanket as a small whine was heard. No one has ever really seen his face before. Even back home there’s probably just a handful who has but it was still great a number. But he winced softly in the pain radiating in his hand that was stepped on. He needed the medical help.

Fox looked over his shoulder to the direction where Jan is standing and nods. “But . . . can you turn around, please?” He felt uncomfortable now and doesn’t want to be stared at. When he saw the other male had turned around, he looked back forward again and slowly took off his cloak and draped it over the tub. His white hair finally exposed as his half ponytail was still there ever so pitifully by a flimsy ribbon. His skin was clearly bruised in seeing the small peeks from the nape of his neck and a large scrape on his cheek. The moment his shirt was slipped off, his back was littered with large ugly blotches of bruises that bloomed underneath his pale skin. The tight boots that were snugged around his toes was kicked off until; freeing his toes from its leather prison. And the old breeches were unbuttoned and pushed down to expose more of his bruises. One glove was taken off but his left one which was stepped on from was kept on because it hurt when he tried to slip it on. He blushed to an intense shade of red feeling so exposed like this. Just when he sat down at the edge of the tub, he grabbed his cloak to cover up his lap at least as his bright crimson eyes glanced down at the floor and slowly made its way back up to see Jan. “A-all right . . . you can turn around.” It would be such a major shock to the man to finally see Fox including the reason why he was given such a name after seeing his high cheek bones of his heart shaped face, slender brows, and his almond shaped eyes that are veiled behind his white lashes.

Jan knew it was wrong of him to ask Fox to undress but he couldn't help it. He needed him to be naked or at least mostly naked for him to be able to look at all his injuries and get him all patched up if they were really that bad. Besides it only made sense . . . even if it was terrible of him to ask when they had just met. Still, it had to be done and seeing the way Fox reacted to him he really did feel bad but he did end up agreeing seeing how he told him to turn around. "Of course. I'll even close and cover my eyes too," Jan said with a soft, friendly smile to show that he met no harm, turning his back to him, lifting his hands to his eyes as he closed them. After all, no need to lie to the poor boy, right? He wanted him to trust him . . . not get mad and scream at him.

Once Fox told him he could turn around, Jan lowered his hands back down to his sides and opened his eyes, slowly turning to face him. And it really was a major shocked when he finally saw him, his eyes widening slightly in surprise. That pale skin . . . that white hair . . . those crimson red eyes . . . While he was surprised, it also amazed him at the same time. He had never seen someone so gorgeous in his life . . . Fox was absolutely stunning, he couldn't believe it! But at the same time, he knew why he seemed so scared about revealing himself. He really didn't blame him for being so afraid at all since he knew that people were cruel and quick to judge someone for looking different like he did. Albino . . . that was what Fox was, wasn't he? While he didn't know much, he did know that albino people also had poor eye sight . . . and instantly Jan felt terrible. Poor Fox probably couldn't even see much of anything! He could only imagine how scared he had been earlier . . . even when he had rescued him as well. God, he felt terrible! He just wanted to help out the poor guy in any way he possibly could. Everything about him was already terrible breaking his heart. Could it get anyway worse?

Yeah, it probably could.

However Janais pushed those thoughts away and finally looked away from the pale skinned beauty before him, moving to grab a wet cloth and some bandages, although he did excuse himself briefly to grab some ice for Fox's hand as he saw him with one of his gloves still on. Once he returned he moved to kneel before him, beginning to examine his body a closer to check out and see how all his bruises were. Some weren't too bad but there were some that would still hurt a little bit, but there wasn't much he could do. The swelling wasn't too bad but there was some places that were cut up and bleeding a little which he quickly cleaned up and bandaged them as well to stop them from bleeding. Although as he soon had to take care of his hand, Jan grew a little reluctant. He didn't want to cause him anymore pain . . . so he looked up at him to meet his faze, grabbing his hand as he gently started to remove his glove. Once it was off, Jan couldn't help but cringe. It was so swollen . . . and god it just looked like it hurt so much. "Hey, Fox . . ." he asked softly, holding his hand gently in his own so he didn't hurt it. "Can you try and move your hand for me a little? So I can see just how bad it is . . . and where it hurts the most . . . please?"

It was nice of Jan to be understanding of him and turned away when he asked him. But he only wished that the other male wouldn’t stare at him so much. While Fox has such terrible eyesight, he doesn’t need them for he can feel he’s being stared. It’s such an uncomfortable feeling and he wished to hide away for he must think that he’s a pitiful, ugly man. He always feels so ugly when he catches someone’s attention in a bad way as sometimes he wish he didn’t. “Can you please . . . stop staring?” Already he could feel the tears stinging in his eyes but the albino tries to hold them in because he’s getting sick and tired of crying now after everything to day. The moment that Jan had walked away for something was when he had his moment to get his sobs out of his system before he returned.

He sat in silence as the dark haired male checked his wounds. Soft winces were heard as each of his injuries were treated and covered up with bandages. But he was instantly worried when it came down to his hand that Fox whined softly as he stared down when his glove was taken off. “Owww, it hurts . . .” The albino muttered under his breath and felt the air stinging his hand as it made him pant softly but he nod softly in hearing his request and tried to move his fingers. He could hear some cracking of his joints slightly which finally made him shed a tear from the pain. But it felt that his bones are not broken which was good. “It . . . it hurts w-where I was stepped on . . . the middle o-of my hand.” There where he can only feel the pain at than the rest. His other hand clenched on to the cloak that covered his body as he let out a few more tears that he kept in. “I . . . I hate that man. That . . . pale man and . . . and . . .” Himself, but he was so choked on his tears the words can’t get out but his manners showed it well as he tried to pull the cloak up to cover more of his body from Jan. “It wasn't me. It's . . . it's not. But . . . because I'm like this . . . they hate me.”

Honestly Jan felt terrible for staring at Fox like that but he couldn't help it. Fox was absolutely gorgeous--his pale skin, to those soft pink lips, right to those red eyes and his ivory hair that he just wanted to run his fingers through. And even to have their bare bodies pressed together, dark skin against light skin, showing off the complete contrast between them . . . but he knew that wasn't going to happen. Or rather it couldn't happen. Janais wouldn't allow for it to happen, especially since he knew that poor Fox was still scared and also tired as well from earlier together which he didn't really blame him for. "Ah, I'm . . . I'm very sorry," he said with a soft laugh as he found himself smiling. "I was just . . . stunned. I wasn't expecting to see someone so beautiful bundled up underneath all these ratty rags . . . so again, I apologize." He really didn't mean to upset him especially when he saw those tears in his eyes. He hadn't met to upset him . . .

Seeing just how badly Fox was reacting to his hand being touch, Jan felt terrible for even going anywhere near it but it had to be treated. And then seeing that single tear he had shed . . . Jan could've sworn he felt his heart breaking into teeny tiny pieces. God, he couldn't believe how bad he felt for the man he had only just met! But already, he just . . . he just wanted to do anything he could for him and give him everything he needed. As he listened to him, hearing him say that just because he was like this--what did he mean like this?--they hated him, all the man could do was gently reach a hand up and caress his cheek to wipe those tears away, a warm smile on his lips. "I'm so sorry . . ." he whispered, even finding himself leaning in a little too to press a kiss just under one of his eyes to kiss away those tears, pulling back to look up at him with green eyes full of concern. "I won't let anyone treat you that way again, got it? Anything you need, I'll be there . . ."

Jan simply stared at him for a moment, admiring his beauty until he suddenly got pulled out of his thoughts by a suddenly cramp in his leg from kneeling for so long. Instantly Jan looked away with wide eyes and pulled his hand away as well, a deep blush on his cheeks, cursing silently under his breath. "I-I'm so sorry about that," he said as he finally looked back towards him, though he avoided looking up at him. Instead, he simply grasped his hand gently, beginning to clean up any cuts on his swollen hand from being stepped on by a boot and pushed into gravel and dirty. He then, very gently, wrapped it up with the bandage, wrapping his thumb separately while he wrapped his other fingers together with only the tips of them showing since he figured that would be the best way for it to heal. "Does that feel okay? If not, I'll rewrap it . . ."

It still feels uncomfortable to be stared at after all these years. By now he should be used to it which is what he would always tell himself. It was no surprise at all when Jan finally saw his appearance that Fox was hiding underneath his cloak all this time. But . . . he has never expected to hear those words at all in his life; beautiful. How was he beautiful? It was unheard of. It wanted to make him cry even more besides the pain he felt and the sadness because he knew who he really is; a monster. He’s probably the same monster like the pale man who was seen at the sighting of the wolves. And he only looked down to hide his blushing face and shook his head from side to side in a slow pace. “Stop saying nonsense . . .” He said as he looked away, wherever away is. It was though . . . the nicest thing he ever heard which made him want to smile but he kept it away.

The pain was unbearable but he did his best; not only about his hand but what he felt on the inside. It was not like him at all but he needed someone to listen to him and Jan was there. Fox was startled again in feeling the gentle caress on his cheek which felt so divine as the tears were wiped away. It made him almost close his eyes but he was focused on the man before him. He . . . Jan was frightening him a little on just how close he was and he was moving even closer. The young man held his breath and closed his eyes tightly when he felt the sudden kiss under his eye to capture his tears which made him blushed incredibly red that his entire body was a rosy shade. When his eyes were fluttering open, he saw those bright green eyes clearly and staring straight into him. They were lovely to stare at and Jan made him incredibly fluster even more in hearing that he will be there for him. “Why is he doing so much?” Fox thought to himself, but he shyly looked away from him. “Don’t be silly Jan; saying that to a complete stranger you just met.” He really is a strange and silly person.

He blinked a few times when Jan looked away for some reason as he took the chance to finally breathe after that. While it was just under his eye, it was his first kiss. The young man merely nods his head at the apology as his hand was taken into his again. The albino held in his winces and pain as it’s being treated and finally wrapped in bandages which made him smile at the work he did and he smiled up at him. “No, it’s perfectly fine.” Fox said, his crimson eyes glanced down at the floor in thought before looking back up to him. “You didn’t have to do any of this; saving me and taking care of me. I have nothing to repay you for your kindness and barely any money but . . . thank you . . . thank you for it. It’s . . . the first time anyone showed me such kindness. So thank you Jan.” His smile grew brighter as he wipes a few tears away. He grew sick of crying now but these tears he couldn’t help himself. “So . . . can I get dress now? I’m very cold.”

It made Jan incredibly sad to hear Fox tell him to stop saying nonsense, because really . . . Jan didn't think it was nonsense at all. It even hurt when he told him not to be silly, because he was saying everything to a complete stranger that he had just met. He couldn't help it . . . he just wanted Fox to know that he would help him no matter what. Especially after seeing the way others treated him. How poorly his health seemed to be too. Getting stoned and pushed to the ground like that wasn't going to help him at all and so he really hoped that Fox would just accept his help already. Of course . . . it probably didn't help that he had done such an intimate thing to him already, but he couldn't help that at all. Besides, that was even just him holding back. He had a gorgeous young man in front of him . . . one that he—

Jan snapped out of his thoughts when he heard him speak again, smiling a little as he was happy to hear that the way he had wrapped his hand was perfectly fine. "Ah, good," he said, about to get up only to stop when Fox spoke again, finally making eye contact again when he said he didn't have to do any of this, saying that he has nothing to repay him for his kindness and barely any money either. All Jan could do was chuckle softly and shake his head. "You're very welcome Fox. However, you really don't have to repay me for anything. I did it because I wanted to, so don't worry about it," he said, happy to see that he was smiling finally. He was sick of seeing Fox crying . . . he wanted to see that beautiful smile.

"Oh!" Jan found himself blushing deeply again when Fox brought up the fact that he was still very naked and also very cold. "Of course! Of course you can . . ." Jan stood up quickly and went to grab Fox's clothes for him, although upon further examination, he noticed that they were very . . . gross looking. And dirty. And old. ". . . how about I give you some nicer, clean clothes to wear? Hold on, I'll go get them." He didn't even wait for an answer before he left the bathroom, leaving to his bedroom only to return a moment later. In his arms he held a pair of dark coloured breeches and also a white cotton shirt for Fox to wear for now, holding them out to him. "They're both far too small for me, and I think that they would suit you nicely . . ." he said with a gentle smile. "If not, I can find something else for you too . . . oh, would you also like something to eat? I had actually been on my way home to eat . . . so perhaps you would like to join me?"

He still thought of Jan as an incredibly silly man to be doing so much for him. Perhaps it’s just because that Fox has never been treated so kindly than ever before. Of course there are other people who are nice to him but not as much as he was. It was just unbelievable to do all of it only because he wanted to help him. But no one can’t be that nice to be so selfless to the poor; especially a man who is clearly on a different status showing it to the poor. And to not repay him back? He’s far too nice. And all that he can do is just smile at him for being such a silly, nice man . . . but just how old is he?

Fox was happy that he can get dressed again but he has to giggle at Jan’s reaction because it was just so funny. He reached out his hand to grab his clothes that the other male picked up only to still be reaching out. He was taken aback to hear that Jan will give him new clothes to wear than his old clothes and in just a blink of an eye he left to go get them and the young albino merely sigh. “He’s so silly . . .” The door opened again and he saw that Jan returned with the clothes that his crimson eyes squint to see what they were before he grabbed them to be on his lap. They felt really nice as he smiled softly but hearing the word ‘eat’ made him forget about the clothes completely as he looked up to the blurry figure of Jan and looked as though he could possibly drool from his parted lips. He was hungry, almost starving, and only nod his head instantly because he can’t fight against food. “Thank you Jan.” He smiled happily, and he continue to stare up at him, telling him non verbally that he should either turn around so he can change into the clothes or leave the bathroom to prepare the food. Either way, he wants him out and now.

It made Jan happy to hear that Fox would also eat food with him, seeing the way he had looked up with parted lips and smiled after to. Ah~ good . . . he could maybe help the boy feel a little better too. He felt bad—it looked like Fox rarely ever ate any decent food. Luckily, he was a decent cook (after all, he lived on his own so he had to learn in order to survive) and so he would be sure to cook both of them a great meal. After all, there were some things that Jan also wanted to ask Fox about still so sitting down and eating dinner together would be a great idea for talking. Plus he was sure it would get Fox to open up to him a little more which was what he really wanted.

Seeing the albino boy staring at him though, Jan finally realized why he was staring at him and figured it was time he excuse himself. "Oh, I'll leave you to change then. I'll get started on dinner." With that, Jan turned on his heels and left Fox alone in the bathroom, closing the door behind him so it was only open a crack as well before heading to the kitchen. After a few minutes of thinking, the young man decided to go with make a beef dish with vegetables on the side, even with a bit of fish too just in case Fox might want to eat more. It wasn't anything too special—it was just what he usually ate himself. He had managed to get some rather decent foods recently so he figured now was a good time to put them to use. It took quite a bit of time for him to get everything ready and also cook, but he busied himself within the kitchen and also set the table for the two of them by the time everything was ready. As soon as he finished putting a serving onto each plate, he placed them down in their respective spots at the table and he turned towards the door way. "Dinner's ready, Fox!" he called out to him before moving to sit down.

The young male was happy to see that he’s leaving the bathroom to get started on dinner. He wondered what Jan is going to make and it just made his stomach growl fiercely and decided to change into the new clothes fast. He sat up and placed the new clothes down at the edge of the tub to pick them up one at a time. Seeing that his left hand is bandaged up, he has to dress himself with just one hand. The shirt was slipped over his arms and slowly buttoned up the shirt in making sure that he’s not skipping one. It was still a little big on him but Fox didn’t mind, he still likes it. The pants though, are a different issue as he brought them up to his face to see how they are clearly. But he tried his best to pull them up and tuck the shirt in. It took him a while but it was accomplished and he slipped on the cloak around his neck and kept the hood down.

He checked himself and smiled brightly. The clothes felt super comfortable and they look so fancy seeing how the sleeves are puffy looking. Fox just has to wiggle them a bit to make it swish as he giggles in amusement. However he had forgotten about dinner until Jan called out for him and he stopped only to stare at the door. “Coming!” He looked around for his boots but decided to just go barefoot instead. They crushed his toes terribly. The young albino opened the door and looks around at the unfamiliar surroundings. It was completely blurry to him as he placed his hand on the wall to guide his way through as he follow the scent of the amazing food. “I should have brought Penelope with me . . .” He pouted a bit. The furry ball of sunshine was like his Seeing Eye bunny who guides him around but he decided to leave her at home because of the wolves. He doesn’t want her to get hurt at all.

However, he finally found his way to where Jan is; seeing the familiar silhouette and he smiled. He hurried up to him and showed off the clothes that he’s wearing. “I love it Jan! I feel so fancy.” The young albino continued being his silly self as he gave a spin and stopped to face the plate of food that was set on the table. He leaned closer to see it better and to smell the delicious aroma that made him hum in delight. “It’s smells amazing too. I can’t wait to eat.” He literally can’t as he quickly sat down and picked up the silverware to cut up the first piece of beef and place it in his mouth. And it felt like it melted on his tongue. He wished he could eat yummy food like this every day of his life.
