I er... is this done in Painter, from a photo reference? It's quite beautiful, by the way. I think her and her parents will seriously cherish it forever.

I love the eyes. They're so intense, yet are still child-like.

Don't feel like starting a new topic. I'm on a roll...I met my cousin when I was visiting relatives in russia. I found a picture of her and starting sketching at 4 am. I finished colouring at 2 pm in the afternoon.

Holy crap. :0 I thought the first one was a real photo.
The second has beautiful detail on the hair, but my impression is that her eyes and eye sockets are too small.

Photo realism is somewhat of a crowd pleaser. You see lots of people trying to draw stuff that looks real all the time. and it seems to impress a lot of people, particularly non-artists on a first glance more that stylized art does.
It's just sort of nice to see a photo realistic piece that evidently has some meaning or other quality to make it interesting and seem more well done.
Personally, i'm not interested in work that is doen simply because the artist wanted it to look real.
i like the second piece alot. The digital painting looks well executed. The first one is rather nice, as well. There's no denying the skill it took to make the face as captivating as it it. But i dont like the 'oekaki feel' that i get from the smudgyness on the shirt and the pixelation in the hair.
