The crunch of snow and ice underfoot was becoming a daily thing now, the sun not warming the air or earth long enough to let it melt before a new wave of grey clouds rolled in. Grey clouds that threatened to drop another few inches of snow by tomorrow morning. Grumbling to himself, Marco bundled his hands into his coat, Somnium behind him doing his best not to look absolutely fine in the freezing cold. The doctor never thought he’d be envious of a deer, but lo and behold, with the winter chill biting at him Marco was.

“You’re doing that to mock me aren’t you?” He shot Somnium and angry look as the buck went through a rather large snow pile, seeming fine. Granted he could get cold as well, but thus far Marco hadn’t seen any signs of the chill harming the guardian. Good thing too, as he’d be carrying back the various herbs from the merchant. While few herbs would be fresh, they would still be of use and of high quality. Just what Marco needed for the sudden influx of patients. The cold was now combined with rumors of wolves. People were overly skittish, leading to more accidents.

He’d already had to treat a man who’d falling off a lader and broken his arm, started by a child mockingly howling. Shaking his head of the thoughts of the rumors, Marco knocked at the herb seller’s door. He just wanted to get his supplies and be home before nightfall really.

Why did he travel out again? Neculai has no clue after a couple of terrible incidents. It was indeed a dangerous time now for everyone as people are terrified of their own shadows; believing that a wolf is hiding in there. But it was dangerous to his due to mix rumors of a pale man that was seen with the beasts and him being one. His family actually forbids him on leaving the safety of their home but Neculai couldn't do it when they need the money just to live for the next day. He was a very stubborn man.

And so, his eldest sister helped him out as she asked a couple in Palisade for a favor to repay that one day she sewn up a last minute dress for her. The couple left their small home for him for the day, terrified to be with him alone, and post up some flyers of his service of selling herbs at the home where he waits . . . in boredom. The young albino sat in front of the roaring fireplace where he made it his permanent home from the cold weather and feeling rather content seeing the bright smile on his face. “I wish I can sit here forever . . .” He said to himself. But then hearing the sudden knocking on the door surprised the young man as he scrambled to reach over to grab his cloak and cover himself up. It was his security blanket and doesn't want a potential customer to be frightened by his appearance.

Before opening the door, he looked over at the table up close where he has his herbs spread out in display for the people to see and flipped the hood over his head. He grabbed the door knob and opened the door with a smile on his face that is visible to his customer. “Ah~ Welcome! Come in, come in from the cold. You must be freezing outside, yes?” He said as he stepped to once side, letting the customer in and closed the door. Sadly though, he could only see a blurry figure who is the doctor. “Is there something you need in particular?”

The buck behind him gave a small snort, moving away just enough to kick some snow in Marco's direction, getting the guardian a low hiss. "Stop that. I don't want to get water all over their floor and end up frostbitten." The mental image of frostbitten toes passed between them and Somnium jumped a bit. He very much didn't wish frost bite of his chosen. The open door was met with a small smile. Thank god the man was in. "Thank you. And yes, no thanks to this one." Somnium shook his head and rolled his eyes. "Somnium, no." The buck stopped short of the door, a bit taken aback as he was left out in the cold.

Literally at that.

"It's nice to know some people are still open despite this damnable weather. Well, weather and wolves as they're saying these days." Taking off his gloves and stuffing them in his pocket, the doctor looked over to the herbs, pausing as Somnium told him in his way that he really ought to buy some for the buck.
After the snow kick it so wasn't happening.

"I need to refill my stock and then some. Too many people are pushing themselves with worry and work. I've had enough patients coming in with the beginning of more than just a cold in the past few days." He Shaking his head he motioned to the herbs on display. "Clove, Coriander, I have enough Chamomile..." He sighed, patting himself for a list. Once he found it. "Shall I list the items and needed amounts?"

The young albino couldn't help but to chuckle hearing his customer. He couldn't see well but hearing the name Sominium made him remember that it was the doctor who he has met a few times whenever he was in need of some medical herbs for his practice. "Aww, I bet he was just playing with you in the snow." Such a playful one as he gave a small wave to the buck and closed the door. Hopefully it won't be that long because he would feel terrible to leave him out in the cold despite the fact that his fur would keep him warm.

He returned back to his spot near the table as he looked at the man in the safety under his hood; only to sigh as he heard him speak. "Yes . . . but it has been rather difficult really. I try to stay open but sometimes people won't leave their homes because of the wolves . . ." Very difficult. He was right though, not only the wolves but the weather too is difficult for people to leave their homes at this time. The doctor is actually his very first customer for the day and he's very thankful for that or else he would have no money to bring home to his family. "But I try to be a bit positive though and push my little business to those who are in need of some healing herbs."

Apparently there were a few more injured people that the doctor had expected. Listening to his needs, his striking pale hands reached out to grab the clove and coriander that he had asked of first; already knowing where they were layout on the table. They were scooped out and poured in their individual bags and tied up as they were placed at the end of the table for him. Neculai perked his head up and gives a nod. "Just read them to me and that will be fine." It would be better for him. He doesn't know how to read anyways and his terrible eyesight doesn't help him at all.

"I've also have a little something special too if you might be interested." Neculai hurried around to a woven basket that lay on the floor and brought it up to the table. Inside were a few small bags that perfumed a mixture of dried herbs, each of them tied around with a small charm on the string that is used to tie the bag up. "They are herbal amulets that my family had made during the times now. For protection purpose if you might be interested." He might not but the young albino wanted to offer one to him and maybe to his guardian because he is a nice man whenever he sees him. And with that, he went around to his herbs to see what else he might need.

Somnium nodded his head as Marco rolled his eyes, making a small snort of his own. "Playing indeed. I rather think he just would rather I end up bedridden so I wouldn't take him out across the country to tend to patients." The buck liked to travel but not for work. And not very far. Stubborn as mule as Marco would have put it.

Smiling a bit, Marco tabbing his finger on a table, sighing. "Glad you are open. When one places closes they all tend to and well.. you start a chain of other closing shop as they can get what they need and what not." Enough places had closed to cause a minor concern. trade was slowing and though he was able to trade his services for goods time to time, even that was becoming harder. People wanted to buy goods but if no goods were for sale, they had to barter. "But if you're ready? Marjoram, just a small amount, Horehound, if you have it. Yarrow, and Mint." Somnium gave a little jump at the mention of mint to which Marco added. "A lot of mint I suppose."

The notion of charms has Marco raising his eyebrow. He wasn't one for the old tales really, but he met and dealt with enough people who were. "I don't think I'm in much need for protection, but I know enough people who would jump at such a thing. I'll buy a few if it's alright. Suppose it couldn't hurt to give them to others and ease their worries."

Neculai couldn't help but to giggle at between Doctor Marco and Somnium. They are funny seeing just how close they are even though they had their little argument in which he doesn't blame Somnium. It's far too cold for the young man to bear which is why he rather nests right in front of the fireplace.

It is a bit sad to hear that the other stores but he couldn't blame them. The rumors of the wolves have scared numerous of people to hiding in their homes and wouldn't dare to open shop. But he smiled under his hood still as he looked up to him. "Well hopefully maybe I can start a chain of people who will open soon." He was highly optimistic but it's just up to the people really if they want to or not. But Neculai know that he can't let the rumors stop him. "I am ready sir~" He had to push up his sleeves hearing the list of herbs he needed and collected the proper amount he needed. "I have little amount of Horehound if that's okay with you sir. And I'll give you all the mint too." It's not like he'll have any more customers for a while anyways.

Neculai was happy to hear that he was interested in the herbal amulets and adds a couple of them to the other herbs collected at the edge of the table. "That sounds wonderful, if it makes the people happy. The less worry they are the better." It just struck to him now seeing the collection of herbs that Marco wanted to buy which is an incredible amount and it made him pull back his hood slightly so he can see the man. "Just how many patients do you have sir?"

Marco smiled and went to fetch a few of his own containers. "If you can help encourage others to stay open, wolves, weather or otherwise, you'd have more than just me thanking you. Feels like every trader and merchant I meet is in the same straights I'm in." Setting an empty jar down the doctor sighed. "We have a need and a want that cannot be met. The shop closing... free market I suppose."

It couldn't be helped, these thing would happen and they would all just have to adapt. Or not. Being stubborn was sometimes it's own reward.

"But yes, please. The horehound is one of those things I never seem to use often, but it's good to have on hand." At the question Marco began the mental tally. It took a few seconds but- "As of right now, roughly thirty standing with cases I will need to re-examine. Not to count those I end up being called in for and run into on the road." Rubbing his temples, Marco let out a heavy sigh.

"The season compounded with the wolves have made people jumpy... and highly accident prone."
