This thread is archived. Please use this thread for the current Guidebook! Destiny City Guidebook --Ever wanted to know where the hottest hangout is? Or that famous underwear store you’ve heard so much about? Well now you can with the Destiny City Guidebook!.....Or you could if it wasn’t so blank with no pages. ( Jeez Destiny City printing press, am sure there was an almanac that had missing pages too….) So please help us fill the guidebook by posting landmarks in and around Destiny City for the use of RP plots and references. Be they shops, garages, parks or memorial gardens you can post them here! Completing the form below will allow you to describe the buildings or settings for yourself and other players to use for reference or as the settings to an RP. Of course you are in no way forced to use these landmarks, nor should they limit your creativity! Also there can easily be more than one bakery in a huge city like Destiny City so you don’t need to use the only one that may be posted here and by all means you don’t need to post every landmark you create here for RP purposes! So have fun and lets get filling those pages! There are some rules to keep in mind:If you don’t want players to use your setting, don’t post them! Please note though that you can not claim buildings to be off limits for your own personal playground when they fall into a public category aka libraries, hospital, schools, parks, government buildings etc.
If you want to create the only super deluxe ultra secret hangout with pink lettering and find there is already one here …tough luck! Destiny city is huge, although it would be nice not to have 68 Rocky themed night clubs there can and will be duplicates. Please be civil with other players when this happens.
Please do not create locations that are labeled 'Destiny City x'; we are reserving the use of 'Destiny City' locations for shop owned backgrounded locations. This allows the shop to have control of nonspecific locations. If your character ever needs a generic location to be roleplayed in, the location can be referred to as 'Destiny City x' (where x is whatever location you need--for example, Destiny City Park). Think of 'Destiny City' as a generic brand name! The locations can be manipulated to suit your specific roleplay needs, but please don't play or fill in information for NPCs (such as the police chief of Destiny City Police Department). Name: The name of your shop/park/library etc Building/Setting type: A summary of what it may look like. Pictures can be used. Image Street: Made up street name - you can of course use previous street names of Destiny City that have been used before unless you state it is next to NOTHING or has particular requirements (aka P0rn shop next to the White house is a no no.). Please mark this with a * Found in inner/outer city: Can this be found in the inner city or towards the ever expanding outskirts of Destiny city? Other local landmarks: If available & the street is open you can use other shops or landmarks to pinpoint your own shop.
Building/Setting purpose: What you setting is aka shoe shop, café, park. Sells: If it sells anything add it here, if not you can delete this section! Opening Times: The opening times of your setting if applicable Owner: You can put your character or a NPC name if the setting has one. Employees: You can put your character or a NPC names if the setting has them. Hiring: Is you shop open for hiring addition characters? Can another player contact you to discuss further plots about this? Anything more to this setting?: Does you setting have a secret entrance? A dodgy owner? A funny smell from the basement? Or is this park used for funfairs, craft stands, events or even band practice? If you want it known list it here.
Any special requirements: If you post your setting here you are open for it to be used as a setting in RP for anyone to use. Although if you want you can claim special requirements to be put in place aka no blowing the place up, no stealing etc. For exampleQuote: Name: “A Brush with Class” Building/Setting type: Tall white 3 story building of art novo influence. Street: Sycamore Street Found in inner/outer city: Inner city Other local landmarks: Between Chicken Time Take Out & Randy’s Wacky Shoe Shop Building/Setting purpose: Craft shop Sells: Paints, materials, spray cans – everything for your local artist! Opening Times: 9 – 5pm - Monday to Friday, 10 – 4pm - Saturday & Sunday, Closed - Wednesday Owner: Dan Michaels (NPC) Employees: Judy Smith (NPC) Steve Lomas (NPC) Hiring: Yes Anything more to this shop?: There is a way into the basement through a cracked window that management keeps on forgetting to fix. Who knows what craws in there at night? Mice, hobos, maybe even a few stray Youma? Open for RP: Yes Any special Requirements: Please do not blow up or rob without permission, other than that you are welcome to RP there and use any NPC to help you if needed. If you wish to use it as a battle area the basement is full of stock, boxes and recycling. You may go crazy in there, staff will think the hobo got in again. Destiny City Locations--This is under construction!
Destiny City Locations are a list of Shop Owned background locations that players are free to play in without permission! You should not be writing for NPCs or excessively describing the location without permission, but you don't need approval to play in these locations (unless otherwise stated!) This section serves to provide some extra information about the City you are playing in!Destiny City Memorial Hospital Destiny City Memorial Hospital (DCMH) is the largest hospital in Destiny City. It has some of the best doctors and surgeons in the area, and is always in a state of expansion to try and meet the growing needs of the community. They have several internships with the local colleges and always have open positions. If you are in need of medical aid, you need look no further than DCMH; it is consistently ranked one of the best hospitals in the area. If your character is a nurse, doctor, or other hospital staff member they can work at DCMH without staff permission! Try to be vague when referencing NPCs in specific roles (such as the owner, head doctors, or members on the board of directors). If you need specific information, please PM us!
DCMH is not available for destruction or massive damage; because of the violence and general crime in Destiny City, the Hospital will always be open!
Barren Pines College (Closed) Barren Pines College for the Gifted was a mysterious high school that seemed to appear out of nowhere. It had a beautiful new campus and was a boarding school aimed at gifted pupils. It was hailed as having top-notch teachers and incredible facilities. Students accepted into the school were given entirely free rides—everything was It had an unusually bought and paid for, including board! It seemed too good to be true—and it was.
Shortly after Barren Pines opened, tragedy struck and many young lives were lost. There were claims of tuberculosis and the official rumor is that it was actually a cover for an underground organ ring, but no official report was ever conclusively written.
Barren Pines burned to the ground and now sits in ruins atop a hill on the distant outskirts of Destiny City. A few security guards patrol the hill but even they know to stay away; Barren Pines is off limits to the general public.
This territory is off limits without staff permission and exists only as a reminder of those poor unfortunates who lost their lives in underground war of Destiny City

Name of Place: Padma's Bouquet Type of Place: Flower shop Information: Name: Padma's Bouquet Building/Setting type: Padma's Bouquet has been opened for about seven years, with its owner working hard to keep it prosperous. It is located in between the "good" and "bad" part of town, and the wear-and-tear on the outside of the building is indicative of this fact. Once part of a thriving shopping center, business slowly trickled off until the previous owner sold the place to the florist cheap. Although a good amount of money has been poured into making the shop functional, the brick on the outside has to often be scrubbed to remove graffiti, there are bars on the windows when the place shuts for the night, and sometimes it can appear grimy.
Inside, the shop is as clean and neat as one could hope for a flower shop. Floors are regularly swept and mopped to avoid accumulating soil and efforts are taken to remove any hint of chemical or fertilizer smell. Basically, it looks much more polished on the inside, where its owner has more control over it. Plants are organized by type, with flowers grouped together, seasonal items grouped together, etc. Street: Easy Street* Found in inner/outer city: Inbetween inner and outer Other local landmarks: It is located near Richard Moreau's candy shop, Sugar Shanty, and often offers promotions around the holidays to boost business for both stores.
Building/Setting purpose: Flower Shop Sells: Although technically a "flower shop," the store sells all sorts of plants. Some examples (aside from flowers) include ferns, vegetable plants, and cacti. All of them are grown on site, so the very back of the store is basically a mini-green house. Padma's Bouquet also offers materials for growing and maintaing plants, everything from seeds to soil to tools. Opening Times: 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. 7 days a week Owner: Krishna Dhawan Employees: Krishna Dhawan (almost always), Gwen Caspian (part time), Ophelia Bathory (part time) Hiring: The shop frequently hires part time and full time workers for legal, and not so legal, activities. Other players are very welcome to contact me about further plots! (AIM: watakireborn or PM) Anything more to this setting?: It is canon that the shop was heavily damaged during a battle between Super Sailor Tsui and a youma; it is likely that it was on the news/on the newspaper. I'm okay with characters recognizing it from there and noting things that aren't quite fixed.
Any special requirements: Please do not use for a battle setting if there is any destruction--it has already been hurt by one Senshi attack! If you wish to use its roof as a battle setting, though, that'd be fine. Any regulars or solos with it as a setting are a-ok by me.

Name: Espresso Yourself Building/Setting type: Espresso Yourself is an unassuming brick building near DCU with large windows in front and a cute sign over the door with a coffee and cream colored awning. Street: Cafe Rue Found in inner/outer city: This shop is found right near DCU in the university district - I'm guessing that's downtown Other local landmarks: N/A Building/Setting purpose: Coffee Shop/Espresso Bar Sells: They sell coffee and coffee accoutrement Opening Times: It is usually open from 6 in the morning to 9 at night with extended hours the week before and during finals at DCU. Then they are open until midnight nightly. Owner: Aldofo Santini Employees: Harmony Rosen, BethAnne, Sarah, and Whitney Hiring: Always! PM me or poke me on AIM - Zaia2001 Anything more to this setting?:Espresso Yourself is nestled right next to DCU and is popular with the kids on campus. They offer comfortable chairs and a welcoming environment, and have a "bean bag corner" for kids to sit in and hang out or study in as well as couches, armchairs, and traditional tables. They have Wifi and play soft music, often classical and very much cater to the college kid/Soho hippy crowd.
It was started by Mr. Santini who is originally from a little town outside of Naples in Italy. He imports all of their espresso directly from Rome and proudly boasts that only he and his staff knows how to make a proper espresso. He even goes so far as to train the staff in this when they are hired, personally. The girls can make it however you want to drink it and the shop keeps late hours during the week before and week of finals.
Espresso Yourself is rather unique and Harmony is happy to have started this. She will randomly photograph patrons when she has time to (with permission, of course) and there is a billboard in the corner dedicated to this purpose. Many patrons sign their photos and ever since then this has been the artists hangout, too. The coffee house is littered with donations from students of their own artwork and they have a silent auction of it for charity at the end of each semester.
Any special requirements: If you plan on RPing in Espresso Yourself I ask that you keep the general vibe of it as I've mentioned here and don't damage it. You can use any of the NPCs freely except Mr. Santini. Harmony is, of course, my character and if you want interaction with her in this shop just ask! I'll be happy to accomodate!
And please PM me a link so I can stalk your RP and enjoy how the setting is used! Any major events (ie stealing from, breaking in, organizing parties at, battling in) please PM me prior for permission. The roof is fair game but try not to huff and puff and blow it down. XD

Name: Celtic Cafe Building/Setting type: Two-story building that looks more like a house. Has a large patio out front that also wraps around the side with lots of tables and chairs, and Celtic flags. Inside it is very rustic, with wooden floors, heavy wooden tables, deer-antler chandeliers, high ceiling with wooden beam rafters, and a large roaring stone fireplace. Tapestries, suits of armor, and other Celtic paraphernalia decorate the place. Street: McArthur Street Found in inner/outer city: Inner-ish? Other local landmarks: Somewhat close to the hospital, but still quite a walk.
Building/Setting purpose: Cafe/Restaurant Sells: Coffee, Tea, Salads, Pasta, Sandwhiches, Baked Goods. Opening Times: 8AM-12PM Owner: NPC Employees: NPC Hiring: I guess? Anything more to this setting?: The Celtic Cafe also welcomes table top gamers to their upstairs area, so long as they pay a small usage fee. The Cafe also boats a fair little Oktoberfest celebration. Workers are even encouraged to dress up, so long as it doesn't hinder their work!
Any special requirements: No battles, please. Regulars and Solos are fine. Heck, it would be a rather fitting place for Earth Knights to meet up!

Name: Jolly Burger Building/Setting type: A hilariously gaudy burger establishment, its brand colors being purple and yellow. Jolly Jack is the mascot and a giant, rotating and light-up version of him is outside the restaurant himself. He looks suspiciously like a recolored Cap'n Crunch.

Employees: Biff Wellington and his bro in crime, Chet Rexton work at the Washington Ave. location, bro. Hiring: ALWAYS. (Yes you can PM me, it would be totally amazing) Anything more to this setting?: Popular with high school and elementary kids (due to the PlayScape playground attached to the side). Their burgers are local favorites. There's probably nothing weird about it. Maybe. They give free Wi-Fi?
Any special requirements: A love of burgers. Jolly Burger serves powered characters too, they just... get a little freaked out about it. And if you're using the drive-thru, please use a legit car. Mopeds and hanging upside down at the drive up window is discouraged. Thank you. (Also you can damage Jolly Burger all you want. I'm sure they rake in enough dough to fix it up.)

Name: Volkova Ballet School Building/Setting type: A modest, inconspicuous looking three-story brick building passers-by might not even know the function of if not for the small, faded, and weather-beaten sign out front that proclaims the school’s name. It has been in a continuous state of remodeling for the last handful of years as a few of its studios receive a much needed facelift in the form of fresh paint and new floors, but signs of age and general wear and tear remain and a few of the studios still look quite dated. Street: Idek, we'll go with Astaire Street. Found in inner/outer city: Located a few blocks from downtown, so inner. Other local landmarks: N/A
Building/Setting purpose: Classical Ballet School Opening Times: Most classes are held in the afternoons due to the fact that students have regular school to attend as well, but Madame and/or some of the other teachers hold auditions throughout the day. Weekdays and weekends, it’s likely you’ll find people there. Owner: Madame Irina Volkova (an NPC), owner/instructor/director. She is a retired Russian ballerina and former principal with the Mariinsky Ballet (also known as the Kirov Ballet, its former Soviet name), whose ambition to more firmly establish the Vaganova Method in the United States led her to Destiny City some twenty years previously. It remains to be seen whether she has been at all successful. Employees: Other retired, classically trained (NPC) dancers have been employed to teach here, though Madame Volkova—a gray-haired, flinty-eyed, and steel-spined old woman with a penchant for black leotards—can often be seen lurking in the back of the classes she doesn’t teach, keeping watch with a critical eye. Hiring: Provided the potential employee is classically trained with prior company experience, sure! Anything more to this setting?: Paris attended classes at the school from the age of 9 to 17. He still drops by from time to time to help out with classes, offer demonstrations, and harass Madame.
The school itself is small-ish, with less (probably much less) than a hundred dancers scattered through the provided lessons, but many of those who attend regular classes later find work in professional ballet companies, with quite a few getting their start with the Destiny City Ballet. Only serious and disciplined applicants need apply; you won’t see a bunch of toddlers bumbling around in frilly tutus here, and having a rich mommy and/or daddy isn’t going to get you admitted if you don’t show the necessary drive, ambition, and skill. The school offers pre-pointe and pointe classes, with students ranging in ages from about 11 to 17 or 18 (though students have been known to be admitted at a younger age depending on growth and level of development). Upon admittance, kiss your social life goodbye, as your afternoons and evenings from then on will consist of nothing but ballet. Every once in a while Madame will agree to host the occasional outreach program in an attempt to encourage aspiring dancers who may not have a spot in the school, as well as to introduce the art to beginners in the hopes that ballet will see a resurgence in popularity and regain the sort of world-wide renown it once had.
Any special requirements: Please don’t blow it up or destroy it in some other way. No battles. I would be very sad. :< Other than that, it’s totally open for RP to both dancer and non-dancer characters if said non-dancer characters have any interest in a random beginner outreach lesson! You’re free to use it on your own or plot something out with me if you’d like! I welcome all PMs and AIM messages (you can contact me there at SunshineAlouette)!

Please AIM me @ RunicExploration or PM me on Gaia. Anything more to this setting?: Inked Heart relies on word of mouth advertising. Additionally, Kekipi uses his day job as a means of passing messages or information to others within the Negaverse. He also offers discounts to his new "family" on tattoos. Though the shop is closed on Thursday, it is not uncommon to see Kekipi around inside making sure the equipment is up to par and perhaps hosting private tattoo parties (ie small, informal Negaverse gatherings).
Any special requirements: Open for Regular/Solo RPs. No explosions, theft, vandalism or terrorizing the civilian employees and customers. Tai and Kekipi work very hard to maintain Inked Heart's good reputation.

Owner: NPC Valarie Dubois Employees: Zachary Bantock and NPC’s Hiring: Yes Anything more to this setting?: The owner prefers hiring girls for various reasons, first and foremost is the feeling that ‘people are more likely to buy candy from girls’ – Obviously she makes exceptions. Any special requirements: Please don’t blow it up, robbing it could happen but expect alarms and security cameras to be obvious. If playing with the NPC staff most of them are somewhat less than enthusiastic about ‘outgoing customer service’ – though they will at least not throw anything at you. Most despite achy feet and focus on their homework can recommend chocolates, if for no other reason than they have likely sampled it.

On a Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evening the Take a Bow amateur theatre group use the hall as their meeting place, but it’s open for other groups/ individuals to hire out – just enquire at reception.
Any special requirements: No battles and please don’t wreck or rob the place, otherwise go nuts
