Class Descriptions:
Warrior/Knight
Weapon Choices: 1-hand Sword, 2-hand Sword, Greatsword, Bow and Arrow
Best Choice: Swords
Shields: Can use

Armor: Heavy Armor, Regular Armor, Clothing, Leather, Ring Mail
Hand Gear: Gloves, Greaves
Description: Warriors are some of the best fighters to a group. With a sword, they can cut through most enemies. As their strength increases and they are promoted to Knights, they gain the ability to use White Magic up to Level 3, which includes basic healing and some low level protections.
Thief/Ninja
Weapon Choices: Knifes, Short Swords, Throwing Knifes (Can Duel wield everything)
Best Choice: Knifes, Short Swords
Shields: Can Only use if not duel wielding weapons
Headgear: Hats, Circelets, Berets
Armor: Light Armor, Clothing, Leather, Ring Mail
Hand Gear: Gloves
Description: Thieves are the fastest fighters. They can find secret passages within castles and dungeons, can get hits to the enemies before they can hit you and have the unique ability to duel wield weapons. Once the thief is promoted to Ninja class, they gain the ability to use Black Magic, up to Level 4, which includes all of the basic spells and some low level status effects.
Monk/Master
Weapons: Knuckles, Knifes, Swords
Best Choice: Bare-hand
Shields: Can use but not really recommended
Headgear: Hats, Berets, Circlets
Armor: Light Armor, Clothing, Leather
Hands: Rings
Description: Monks are a hidden strength. While they can use weapons, their true power shows when they start attacking with just their fists. They out power warriors throughout the entire game with just their fists. Once they are promoted to Masters, their power increases and continues to as the journey continues.
White Mage/White Magician
Weapons: Staffs, Flails, Bow and Arrows
Best Choice: Staffs
Shields: Yes
Headgear: Hats, Berets, Circlets
Armor: Robes, Clothing, Leather, Capes
Hands: Rings
Description: White Mages are the healing force behind every party. They learn all of the healing and support spells that will help a party survive difficult battles. Once they are promoted to White Magician, they start to learn more powerful white magic, including some attack white magic. Just make sure you always have some healing magic ready.
Black Mage/Black Magician
Weapons: Knifes, Rods, Flails
Best Choice: Rods to enhance magic skills
Shields: Can Use
Headgear: Hats, Berets, Caps
Armor: Leather, Clothing, Robes, Light Armor
Handgear: Rings
Description: Black Mages are also part of the attacking squad. They quickly learn the basic elemental magic and some status ailments and from then on just continue to learn more. They might not outclass monks in damage but they come close. Upon being promoted to Black Magician, they can learn more powerful black magic, including the most powerful, Meteor.
Red Mage/Red Magician
Weapons: Swords, Knifes, Rods, Flails
Best Choice: Swords or Rods
Shields: Can Use
Headgear: Hats, Berets, Caps
Armor: Leather, Clothing, Robes, Light Armor
Handgear: Rings
Description: Red Mages are jack-of-all-trade characters. They can learn magic from both White and Black but not the most powerful spells from both. Early on they make for wonderful help when fighting creatures that can only be beaten by magic. However, when promoted to Red Magician, they tend to lose usefulness and are better off being given a sword. The only good thing that comes from being promoted is the ability to start using Dualcast.
Blue Mage
Weapons: Swords, Knifes, Staffs, Flails
Best Choice: Swords
Shields: Can Use
Headgear: Hats, Berets, Caps
Armor: Light Armor, Clothing, Leather
Handgear: Rings, Greaves
Description: Blue Mages can learn certain attacks that monsters use against you. In order to use them, the monster must use it against the Blue Mage first. But afterwards, you can turn their attacks against them. Blue Mages can learn some powerful spells, including Level 5 Death and 1000 needles. Blue Mages are wonderful in many parties but do NOT use them in a fight against another Blue Mage because then you might be given them more attacks to use against you.
Time Mage
Weapons: Staffs, Knifes, Flails
Best Choice: Staffs
Shields: Can Use
Headgear: Hats, Berets, Caps
Armor: Light Armor, Clothing, Robes, Leather
Handgear: Rings
Description: Time Mages are pretty self explaining. They can learn magic that makes parties move faster and enemies move slower. They can also learn magic that makes enemies freeze completely in their tracks and spells that can reduce their size by a certain percent. Time Mages are good additions to parties if you feel like just making enemies feel like bugs.
Berserkers
Weapons: Bare Hands, Swords, Axes, Greatswords
Best Choice: Axes, Greatswords
Shields: Can Use
Headgear: Helms, Hats
Armor: Heavy Armor, Clothing, Armor
Handgear: Greaves, Gloves
Description: Berserkers channel animal spirits to fight. They can also fight with swords and other weapons. When channeling the spirits, they become unable to defend themselves. But they are strong fighters matching warriors in strength but not as strong as a Monk.
Dragoons
Weapons: Spears, Swords, Axes
Best Choice: Spears
Shields: Can Use
Headgear: Helms, Caps, Berets, Hats
Armor: Armor, Leather, Light Armor
Handgear: Greaves, Gloves
Description: Dragoons are sky fighters. They can jump high into the sky and strike an enemy from above. This makes them formidable attackers. They can attack enemies that surround themselves with wind to prevent frontal attacks. Dragoons are also great ground fighters. Use them to your heart's content.
Bards
Weapons: Harps
Best Choice: Seriously the only choice
Shields: Can Use
Headgear: Caps, Hats, Berets
Armor: Clothing, Leather, Light Armor
Handgear: Rings
Description: Bards can use music to weaken enemies and strength allies. They can also heal allies. They can put enemies to sleep, confuse them and charm them. Bards also have the Salve ability, which allows them to use one item to heal the party and the effect is the same as if you were just using the item on one person.
Freelancer
Weapons: Everything that has been listed above
Best Choice: It is up to you
Shields: Can Use
Headgear: Everything listed above
Armor: Everything listed above
Handgear: Everything listed above
Description: Freelancers can do everything that all the other classes can and even combine them. You can have a Warrior that jumps like a Dragoon or a Time Mage that can attack with its bare hands like Monks. Regardless, this class is only available to parties after the upgrade.
