Fondant was livid, oh so very livid. Why was it she had to go prancing through the wilderness to four shrines that no one even cared about anymore to appease some spirits that didn’t exist. She gave another huff, still displeased with how this was all going. She didn’t even want the throne, at all, it was her parents dream for her not hers. She just wanted to go out and have fun, to live a little and not be stuck under the strict regulations of her parents. Which really weren’t that strict but it was enough that it made her feel trapped. She just wanted to go out and be a normal teenager, to dance the night away and get into all sorts of trouble but that just wasn’t happening.

She drug her feet as she made her way to the water temple, her tail dragging the ground and collecting debris in the process. She was moping and it was painfully obvious, her mother would have been appalled to see her daughter act as such. She was a lady, she was never to mope, and what on earth did she think she was doing letting her tail drag like that? She could hear it now, all the chiding she would have to face if her mother was here.

How was she even supposed to know if the water spirits were pleased? Were they gonna pop up and just tell her ‘oh yeah we are good to go’ she somehow doubted that was gonna be what happened. She gave a low groan as she came upon the temple making her way up to flop at it’s steps and just lay there pitifully. “Oh water spirits... be appeased.” She mumbled as she lay on the stairs, looking for all the world like a beggar instead of the princess she was.

Purification was a common rite that Mingxia went through, and it had become a daily ritual for her. The priestess of the water shrine should do no differently, she thought. And her acceptance by the spirits was proven to be rightful. She sat beneath the waterfall, having already left her offering at the shrine, and let the water cascade upon her. It enveloped her, became her, and accepted her. This was what she desired in life. But suddenly, she felt it nudge her out, back towards the shrine. Aaah, there was work to be done. It was time.

Mingxia made her way to the shrine, walking right upon the water that she worshiped. The spirits were with her today, and her golden jewelery jingled with each delicate step. She had been told to expect one looking for favor and appeasement, and there she was.

"You must be Lady Fondant." Mingxia spoke, at the foot of the shrine the princess laid on. "I have been told of your arrival." Perhaps this would convince the princess that it wasn't just a stupid belief. It was very much so real, and Mingxia just emanated purity and serenity. "You are welcome to rest as long as you wish. May I accompany you to somewhere more comfortable?" She inclined her head slightly, eying the dirty appearance of this princess. Ah, that would not do. The shrine would need another rite of purification soon. "After we get you clean, of course." While Fondant might see this as rude, it was required. The spirits did not enjoy having dirty guests, and Mingxia certainly wasn't going to allow a muddy guest into her home.

Thank you for being so patient sweetheart. ;A; Seriously <3

Fondant lifted her head at the sound of footsteps and her ears perked forward at the sound of a voice. The female that appeared before her wasn’t much to look at, but she was at least interesting… sorta. The female was wet, which why she would be Fondant couldn’t for the life of her understand. Yes this was the water temple, but did that mean you were supposed to play in the water?

At the offer she began to move before she was taken off guard by the last little bit. She turned towards the other and snorted softly. Well how rude, while yes she did have leaves in her tail and yes she was a bit messy from the walk it didn’t mean the other had to point it out so obviously. She could have asked if Fondant wanted to clean up not just force it on her.

“Are you going to clean me?” She quipped back. It wasn’t that she couldn’t do it herself, and normally she was snapping at her maids to leave her alone and let her do it herself. However this female had asked for it, or so Fondant felt. She was being a brat, she knew that, but it didn’t mean she cared.

“I don’t bathe myself.” She stated sticking her nose in the air as she stepped with grace down the stairs towards Mingxia. She didn’t look at the other as she came to stand before her, her nose still in the air and her head turned from the other. As if the female wasn’t at all worth her time.

Mingxia wasn't at all offended by the princess' quips, taking them with a serene smile as she watched her. She knew soon enough, that perhaps the pilgrimage might soothe her restless spirit, and certainly a bath and some rest could do her weary body some good. It was a long walk between the shrines, and even for the most weathered traveler, it was exhausting.

"If you wish me to, I see no problem. It's a ritual, though perhaps showing you may be better. It will please the spirits if you are pure for them, and I don't just mean the body. It's a way of understanding." Mingxia spoke, tilting her head to the side slightly, the gold adorning her head jingling quietly as she did so.

"I am sure they will hold an audience with you, princess. But for now let us get you cleaned in body and spirit, and allow you to rest before the audience." She didn't seem to mind the haughty demeanor of the girl, taking everything in stride. "When you are rested, I will make sure the shrine is ready for everything."

Fondant seethed a touch at the other’s calm demeanor. She seemed to just roll with the flow, taking it all in stride and it just furthered Fondant’s already foul mood. What made her so perfectly peaceful, she grumbled under her breath tail flicking back and forth? She glanced at the other female when the gold on her antlers jingled.

Tacky, she thought to herself, before her ears fell back slightly and she realized just how untrue that really was. Still it made her feel better to think it tacky… perhaps she just wouldn’t look at this female. “Yes, you shall. A ritual… ah… yes yes whatever you want.”

“Well lead the way.” She spoke as she followed after the other, walking only slightly to the side and behind the other. “I suppose I am quite drained, it was quite the walk and they insisted I walk the whole way. Can you believe that?!” She squawked slightly. “Walking, me… the whole way! It’s ludicrous, who wants to walk that much? Crazy people I tell you, absolutely batty.” She nodded her head, as if affirming her own thought.

Regardless of the foul thoughts of the princess, Mingxia felt no negative feelings towards her. There were many who acted the same upon arrival, and most of them were soothed after a rest and recovery from the journey. Why should she feel any different towards Fondant?

She was careful with her steps, leading the princess down a path to a small spring, steaming with warm waters. It was usually a welcome relief to any traveler, though this would take special precautions. "When you are ready, you may enter..." Her voice flowed, soothing and warm. "I will help clean you as you wish."

"Yes, it is quite the travel, I have heard. I've only ever been to one of the other shrines, and even that was exhausting. I can only begin to imagine the hardship you have experienced." She didn't seem to be outwardly bothered, though then again, the priestess didn't seem to be too bothered by anything.
