User ImageThe underground river finally let way into the sun, Badr found himself within a delta far away from his home desert. It was refreshing and cool in the sun here, but Badr hardly ever overheated he was a nova, always in the water, even if it was hot water. Badr laughed lightly. Ah perhaps he would meet a nice mare somewhere soon, he was heading to that herd Hearth's Fire, or something like that, it was a fine place for jewelry among other things, many of the mares loved coming to see the fine jewels he brought back to A'D.

And his stories, Mares loved them, he had so many, his memory could rival that of the great queen herself, never beat though, truly she was an astounding and fine creature the easily jealous King of Kings was sure to protect as long as he was able and if no longer through his very sons would his mate still be protected. Such a fantastic story those two wove together still, he would continue to keep an eye on the family to see how grand their story became.

Badr stared at the sun for a moment before turning up the sea that lead to Hearth's Fire volcanic island.

((Hearth's Fire is on a volcanic island.))

User ImageAnother beautiful day on the job! The sun was shining, the gulls were squabbling, and, yes, no sharks today, that was good. One could never be too careful in the water. Oceanic novae were taught from a young age to beware of sharks, dolphins, and other predators (or learned very quickly!) just as young land-dwellers were taught to beware of cats and wolves. It was second nature, but whenever he came towards a shore, he reminded himself once more to check. It couldn't hurt to be too careful.

But today was a beautiful day! Not a day for worrying, or undue stress. The warm waters around this delta seemed to be full of promise. He'd heard about a herd of stars that lived upriver, through an underwater stream and up in the desert. Apparently they had traders, and as a trader himself, well--Amjad just had to investigate, right? It was his duty as a member of the seller's guild. It would be silly of him not to pursue a potentially lucrative market. And it looked like he was right--for swimming down the delta and into the sea was another nova, one covered in bright gems and pearls. Hm! Well, he had some jewelry to trade...this could be profitable indeed...

"Ahoy there!" he called out to the other stallion. He swam a little closer and looked the stranger up and down. He instantly liked the way the other stallion looked--there almost seemed to be an easy-going aura around him. Besides, he had a nice goatee, and Amjad knew nice goatees. "Might you be from a herd called the Anuyidan?"

Oh a novae stallion much like himself had come to greet him he had a well groomed goatee. Impressive. Badr gave a half grin smile. "Might I be, I am indeed." Badr stroked his own goatee. "And might you be from Hearth's Fire?" The Stallion swam closer a distance so he wouldn't have to yell and greeted the other novae.

Ah yes the density of the water began to change a bit, Certainly different than swimming in fresh water This stallion seemed as though he might have some ware's hidden on the island, Imports were always wanted back at the herd, bright stones, things he they were unable to acquire there, intricate jewelry.

"I did not expect such a welcome." he expected like him this stallion had traveled great distances, perhaps the conversation would take a turn and become quite interesting as they told of their exploits?

"Nor I'll wager you did," Amjad replied. "Me myself, though, I do indeed hail from the Hearth's Fire herd." He swam closer to the other stallion, meeting him halfway between them. There was a grin on his face. "I've been hoping to meet a member of the Anuyidan for ages!" Absolute truth, though he didn't mention the real reason he wanted to meet them--not for the business opportunities, but for the stories. Amjad was a consummate gossip. He loved hearing new stories, meeting new people, and knowing all of the latest news. He had a reputation amongst the stars he'd met for never, ever shutting up. It had been a long time since he'd last heard a new story--since the last time he'd talked to Eelico, really. This stranger was sure to have all sorts of yummy stories about the desert and the mysterious herds that lay within.

"I am Amjad, one of Hearth's Fire's traders. Might you be interested in some of our wares?" If he said yes, Amjad planned to take him to the island. He had only a few trade goods with him right now, tucked into his sash, but maybe he could make a better sale back home. Besides, it was a journey of a day or two, and that could be quite handy for getting to know this fine stranger.
