After spending months and months fighting Kiandri and Firani dragons on Eowyn, Samril was tired of the desert continent. And now that he was practically finished with everything his teachers had wanted for him to become an Expert, the Dovaa had decided to take Sparky down to Magesc once more. But this time they were going to visit Serenia which was much prettier than the dusty, sandy Eowyn!
And so it wasn't long before the Kiandri pair were strolling through the golden woods of Serenia. Samril gave a happy sigh. This was so much better than Eowyn. He could recall coming here as an Apprentice to fight Ysali dragons from time to time. Hey, perhaps Sparky could try fighting against one! They were much much easier than the Firani and Sparky was young. Youngsters had to start somewhere easier, right?
As they walked, the Dovaa kept an eye open. If they spotted a Ysali, he'd mention it to Sparky. But no sense in getting the Keindred all excited now. No, better to enjoy the nice relaxing stroll first!

Kioda reared as she streaked though the tree's leaping where she could and ducking in other places. She had been dodging her siblings when it came to their strange games, they annoyed her, embarrassed her. She had more fun playing off in the tree's alone and lately had taken on a new game of trying to climb the trees. She had gained better muscle control now, much better than the day she had broken free of her egg and more energy coursed through her doubling since hatching.
Distractions were still everywhere the small Keinling went, her mind buzzing with sights and smells and sounds. Freezing in place as she picked up a new scent. She had been warned about the scents of those who lived on Selena, and this smelled something like what had been described to her. Dropping to a low crouch Kioda wiggled her way through the underbrush and leaves. She wanted to get a better look at the creatures that inhabited the area, curious about how friendly they could possibly be. Or how awful for that matter.
Reaching a near enough proximity to Samril and Sparky Kioda cocked her head to the side with a questioning rumble working her way softly through her throat. This was the second Kiandri in these parts she had met though this one seemed to be much closer to her age! Eager for play Kioda burst from the underbrush with a calling squeak.

The two Kiandri youth were unaware of being watched, though Sparky seemed to sense a bit of something, making him a touch uneasy. Samril reached down to calm the Keindred when a small green Ysali Keinling burst out from the greenery, squeaking away.
Samril turned, startled to see such a small little green dragon here. But this one was just like Sparky, only green. He glanced behind the youngster to see if there was someone else coming. Was this one wild then? Or was her Bonded behind her somewhere?
Sparky, though, was eager to see a playmate his size. This was much better than those huge Firani dragons! He burst forward, eager to play.
"Careful Sparky! That's a little one!" Samril called, not wanting this little Keinling's Bonded to appear just as Sparky pounced the poor little thing flat.
Sparky gave a snort as that mental image flashed across their bond. He wasn't going to do that!

Wiggling her rump eagerly, Kioda was pleased to find her advance had been well received. Both the strange two legged creature and the Keindread with it seemed to glance at her, in some for of attention. She took a step forward with a creel in greeting her tail flicking from one side to settle at the other patiently. Tilting her head carefully to the side to show she meant no harm.
Her position didn't last long, digging her clawed feet nervously in the leaves under her feet. Did this one like games at all? Giving a pleased squeak Kioda ventured forward carefully cautious of the two legged creature behind the Kiandri. Unsure if it would strike at her, she had been warned against them after all.
Mean foul creatures who killed everything in their path, felt no remorse for pain or suffering of the world they hurt. Teal-blue eyes glanced between the two before her, if it meant to hurt her. Wouldn't the Keindred before her be hurt? If anything they seemed to be something like friends. Raising her head up with a soft rumble Kioda burst forth attempting to weave through the pair, aiming between the strange two legged beasts legs.

Sparky skid to a halt just feet short of the little Keinling, his own tail lashing happily. Then the little Ysali ran past him and he gave a happy chirp and chased, not heeding much on where they were headed.
Samril, though, was standing back, looking around for another Magescian. Though, this one might be wild, but he wasn't sure on that. Next thing he knew, he was being bowled over as Sparky tried to follow the Keinling around and forgot just how big he'd gotten! He didn't exactly fit under Samril's legs anymore!
The Dovaa sighed as he looked at the sheepish Kiandri Keindred before him. "Sorry, sorry! Sparky sorry!" he chirped, which earned him a noserub from the Dovaa.
Sparky happily took the petting, then looked about to see where Kioda had gone next!

The happy chirup from her new found friend sent Kioda squealing even louder as she sped through the small opening. Doing her best not to touch the strange two legged creature in case it moved in an angry motion and the games would end. The sound of a commotion behind her forced the small creature to turn her head back in the direction she had come.
Giggling chirrups rippled around Kioda as she moved to sit back on her haunches. Pulling her wings in as close to her body as she could. It had worked! She had outsmarted the bigger one in their brief game of chase. Tilting her head curiously to the side at the interaction between the older Drakein and the two legged creature.
Eager to learn more, Kioda pulled herself to her feet and trotted over. Her tail moving back and forth, babbling once again with an attempt to mimic the sounds of words Sparky had spoken. If their interaction was pleasant like she had with her own mother, maybe this one wasn't the horrible nightmare's from her stories and it would play too! Flopping down onto her side Kioda wiggled around before popping back onto her feet with a yelp.

Samril grinned as the little Keinling approached, moving his hand out slowly for her to sniff at. "Hello there, little one. Do you have a person nearby?"
Sparky gave a huff and tried to burrow himself into Samril's chest. "MINE." He warned Kioda.
Samril sighed and shoved the large Kiandri Keindred off with the hand that wasn't extended toward the Keinling. "Oh shove off, Sparky! You're heavy!"
Sparky grumbled and settled down next to Samril, placing his head in the boy's lap. Samril's free hand gave scratches which made the Keindred hum happily.

Kioda watched the strange two legged creatures face before she was distracted by the outstretched hand. Flaring her nostrils as she listened the strange creature make sounds, her neck slowly streatched forward cautiously. Her currious teal eyes moving from the strange offered hand to the eyes. Babbling to reciprocate the sounds she had heard him make.
The sound of Sparky's huff startled the young Drakein and she pulled head back with an appologetic rumble. She didn't quite understand what was said in the sounds but she did understand the movements and actions made in front of her. Her eyes dancing about eagerly at the strange reaction when he seemed to be shoved off. Kioda's whole being seemed to light up, was this some sort of new game! Oh how fun! She wanted to play too!
Closing the distance abruptly between herself and Samril Kioda mimiced Sparky's reactions attempting to climb up into is lap.

Samril gave a chuckle as the young Keinling babbled nonsense. He could remember Sparky doing that some when he was younger. Then slowly the babbling had turned into slightly more noticeable words, then finally into actual words!
The Dovaa was caught by surprise when Kioda suddenly climbed into his lap and Sparky gave a low warning growl, which caused Samril to poke the Keindred's head. "Be nice, Sparky." Samril scolded the young Kiandri Drakein.
Slowly, his hand moved toward Kioda to pet her as well. Sparky loved the pettings, so surely this little one would too, right?

Kioda froze at the warning growl, wasn't this how the game had been played? Or did she break a rule in movement somehow? Tilting her head cautiously to the side she babbled again towards Sparky in a more apologetic tone.
Yawning as she turned her head away from Sparky towards the strange two legged beast. He hadn't hurt her yet but she sure had expected to be shoved away like she had first inspected the games play through Sparky.
Opening her eyes Kioda snorted there was a hand coming strait for her! It didn't have claws, it didn't seem to have any weapon at all. Flaring her nostril cautiously Kioda remained frozen as she was, curious to see what the strange creature had planned.
Her tail shifted towards Sparky, he was a fellow Drakein. If anything she could quickly slip behind him and continue to observe. It didn't seem like the stories she had heard were true.

Samril was glad he had been moving slowly. This little one seemed easily startled. But he kept the hand slowly moving toward the little Keinling, his fingers gently rubbing the Ysali behind the horns, which was Sparky's favorite scratching spot.
The hand not scratching Kioda was giving Sparky head scratches to keep the Keindred happy. Sparky's eyelids slowly drooped close in pleasure.

Kioda blinked restlessly, looking up at the strange creature. Maybe it was trying to show it could be friends too. The scratchings felt good but they didn't compare to her mothers snuggles. Shaking her head to dislodge Samrils hand Kioda removed herself from the creature's legs and moved over to sparky slowly investigating him.
She was far more exited to goad him into play if she could. Fluffing and fluttering her wings as her tail shifted about Kioda trilled playfully.

Samril was a bit confused when the young Keinling left the pettings to look at Sparky. Sparky wouldn't refuse pettings for anything. Perhaps some of the Drakein were different than others... or perhaps Sparky was just odd.
Sparky raised one eyelid to eye the little Keinling. What was she wanting? He was getting pettings... Sparky gave a sigh and the eyelid closed again, only to have both shoot open as Samril stopped petting the Kiandri Drakein.
"I think... he...? she...? wants to play with you," Samril told his Bonded, gently moving the head from his lap and giving Sparky some prods to get up.
Sparky grumbled as he slowly got to his feet and looked at Kioda. "Play...?" Another sigh and the Kiandri Drakein swiped lazily at Kioda.

Leaping back as Sparky took a swipe in her direction, Kioda giggled. Dropping her chest to the ground, her falling between her paws. She rose her haunches into the air, her tail swishing back and forth. It was the typical form of play she had adapted from her sisters. Reaching her front paw forward, Kioda pawed carefully in Sparky's direction.
A sound in the woods brought Kioda's attention away from the Keinling. Dropping her tail, Kioda pulled her head up to look. The thoughts and feelings of food wafted through the bond she carried with her mother. Forgetting her new friends, Kioda turned tail and dashed back off into the trees. Her mother was waiting on the other end, keeping careful watch over Samril and Sparky.

The playful pose instinctively drew out something in Sparky, who managed to get up and stretch before lashing his own tail back and forth eagerly. He was just about to start playing when the little Keinling darted off. Confused, Sparky rose up, peering after the young Drakein, then looked up at Samril. "No more play?" The Keindred whined.
Samril stood and gave the sad Drakein a pat. "I'll play with you. C'mon, I'll beat you home!" he challenged Sparky before taking off at a dead run.
Sparky glanced once more toward the trees, then darted off after his Bonded. He could beat Samril home! He would do it!
