The sun was bright, the sky was clear. the day was beautifully warm with a pleasant, salt-scented breeze coming in off the ocean, and Dhoru was so nervous he thought he might pass out.

It had been two days since his last conversation with the gorgeous Nema. He had his eyes locked on the Lead Mummer now, but unfortunately she kept splitting into two and then merging back into one. His legs trembled and his tongue felt like sand paper as he stumbled toward her, pulling himself together at the last moment to appear confident.

Clearing his throat to get her attention, he waited until their gazes met before speaking. "Hello, Nema. It's great to see you again. Are you busy? Because I was wondering... if maybe you'd like to spend some time together? I was thinking.. maybe a walk along the cliff tops?"

He stumbled through his sentences as elegantly as he had stumbled through the sand, rushing every word out in one great breath before he could lose his nerve. He seemed to lose his nerve anyway, slouching slightly and drawing back his ears with anxiety so strong it was almost fear. What if he had misinterpreted? What if she didn't feel the same? What had he done?!

He took great care to hide the panic growing inside him, the only sign his still flattened ears.

So far Nema's day was going great; for once she'd actually been able to catch some sleep. Though she was still disappointed that the stars hadn't shown the night before. She'd become used to their appearance pattern and was a little alarmed when they didn't show. But after heading back to her den, she realized she had simply miscounted her days. The stars would rise again, but in the meantime, she was free to catch up on her beauty rest.

Now as she stood here refreshed and alert, she was surprised to see Dhoru standing behind her. His stance was a little awkward, but she thought little of it. Most of the lions around here were a little bit more than awkward ... both herself and Dhoru included - in the sweetest way possible.

Catching eye contact with her new friend, she felt butterflies well up in her stomach, and she couldn't quite figure out why. Dhoru was such a sweet lion, and she was definitely glad to see him again, but his stance worried her. Had something happened to Hasi or himself? She tried to hold in her worry, but nearly failed at the last second. It was with all her luck that Dhoru started talking at that exact moment.

She listened intently, her ears perked high in the air, as her tail made small patterns in the sand at her feet. As he finished, her worried expression faded into something far more unexpected. A smile wider than the lioness thought she was capable of forming! Had he really asked her on a date? No ... she was Nema ... no one really asked her on dates ... they just stared and whispered...

Immediately the voices around her welled up on her ears, cheers of glee, urges to say yes, and one screaming that she'd known it all along.

"Guys SHHH!" She hushed, turning her body behind her before returning to face Dhoru. Her face was burning up, but she wouldn't have it any other way.

"No i'm not busy at all Dhoru!" She giggled lightly, hoping it wasn't painfully obvious she was being lazy today. "OH! On the cliff tops? " Focusing her attention up at the sky for a moment, she debated the male's question, knowing all along what her answer would surely be.

"I'd love to spend some time with you! It sounds like it could be a lot of fun!"

Dhoru was filled with such intense relief and excitement and happiness, that he had to stop himself from bouncing around. Unfortunately, he stopped himself a second too late, and was immediately embarrassed to find he had already bounced once. He chose to pretend that it hadn't happened, and turned to lead the way toward the cliffs.

Glancing back at Nema with a mischievous twinkle in his eyes, he declared, "I'll race you there!". He took off across the beach, sending sand scattering every which way. He couldn't imagine a time when he'd felt happier.

She had to stifle a giggle as she watched Dhoru bounce about. Though it was pretty adorable, she figured Hasi was already giving him a hard time for it. So instead she remained quiet, not allowing her face to curl into a giggle. But that all changed at the drop of his challenge.

Did he really want to race her? Well it was his loss! She may not be the best huntress out there, but she did pride herself in a good run. She'd even been known to beat a cheetah once, though he was a pretty lazy one ...

"Your loss!" She laughed, as she paused a moment to stretch her legs. She hadn't really raced in a while, and didn't want to hurt herself in the ecstatic state she was in.

It took only a second, and if you'd blinked you likely would have missed it. Nema took off in a flash and was nearly caught up with the male in a minute's time. She laughed as she gained speed on him, and offered a simple wink as she took the lead. Slowing down just a tiny bit as she did, it would be more fun if there weren't any losers, but how exactly Dhoru felt about that she had no idea.

Dhoru hadn't intended to race full-out, planning to let Nema win out of consideration. Apparently, she didn't need any help; Dhoru had to admit he was pretty surprised at her speed. But not as surprised as he was to find the ground suddenly rushing up at him. In that moment's lapse of focus when he had turned to look at Nema with admiration, he tripped over his own paws and fell face first into the sand - instead of getting first place, all he got was a mouthful of sand.

Slowly, face burning as though he'd fallen into lava, he pulled himself to his feet and moved his gaze to Nema's face. He didn't even need to see her amusement before he burst into laughter. He could only imagine how silly he must look - his mane disheveled, sand stuck everywhere it could be, spitting and spluttering as he tried to get it off of his tongue.

"I'm going to go ahead and say you win, and suggest that we walk the rest of the way to cliffs so I don't hurt myself." He felt clumsy, embarrassed and a little itchy, but oddly... He didn't feel uncomfortable. With that huge of a blunder in front of Nema of all pridemates, he should be kicking himself in the butt over how stupid he was; however, he was totally at ease with making fun of himself.

He never imagined that he could feel so comfortable around someone.

Noticing Dhoru's blunder a moment too late, Nema skidded her paws to a halt. Burying her paws under a mountain of sand, she kicked it away and darted to his side. Her worry was obvious as she glanced over all of his body parts, she saw no visible injuries, and from the way he darted up and began laughing at his own fault it was pretty obvious there weren't any.

"Hey that's not funny I thought you were hurt!" She whined jokingly, nudging the bigger lion on the shoulder with her cheek. "You're not allowed to fake injuries you know - it ruins the sport of the event!" Pausing a moment, she allowed herself to join in Dhoru's laughter. "Besides I think I was kicking your butt well enough on my own!" It was odd how easily things were going, almost scary in a way. But all in all, she was quite pleased with how unexpected her day had out. She'd woke up expecting to laze about, but instead here she was blissfully enjoying a trip to the cliffs, with a lion she found herself quite fond of.

"Oh so NOW you admit I won! Alright, but you have to promise to keep your eyes on your paws so you don't trip again! I can't carry you all by myself!"

Dhoru's laughter was renewed as he pictured Nema struggling to move with his bulk slung across her back. Visibly shaking with laughter, he got to his paws and started to walk - slowly and carefully! - towards the cliffs again.

"It seemed easier to fall on my face than to try to win and still get walloped. Much less embarrassing to have a face full of sand." he joked. He felt slightly guilty that he had worried Nema, and was trying to lighten the mood to make up for it. Thankfully, Nema frequently seemed to laugh at his jokes, even if they weren't all that humorous. He returned her shoulder nudge fondly, a purr rumbling in his chest.

Though she wasn't sure exactly what Dhoru was laughing at, she joined in with her small melodious giggle. She couldn't help it, laughter was just too contagious to her, and well being around Dhoru was making her extra happy.

"Are you sure about that? I think i'd take a wallop before a mane full of sand!" She giggled as she caught up to the male and stood in front of him, forcing him to sit still for just a moment. "Here - be still and lets get some of the sand out! Otherwise you'll be itchy all afternoon." Taking a step closer she gently began dusting the larger clumps of sand from his mane and shoulders, careful not to let any sift into his face or eyes.

"There! Much better don't you think?" Offering a sweet smile, she stepped out of Dhoru's way and stepped into line beside him.

HEY! I have a great idea Dhoru!" Pausing in her steps she focused completely on her idea. "Have you ever heard of cliff diving?"

Dhoru stopped abruptly as Nema settled herself in front of him - he'd had enough collisions for one day! As Nema began gently batting the sand out of his mane, he closed both eyes tightly to be extra sure he wouldn't get any in them. After a couple heartbeats, he opened one eye very slightly to squint through it at the beautiful lioness in front of him. When she had finished, he gave a a very showy, dramatic sigh to show his relief.

"I've never felt so sandless in my life! What would I do without you?" he remarked, only half in jest. He truly appreciated her efforts and he hoped that the emotions in his eyes as he gazed into her's would let her know that. Dhoru returned her smile fondly and began to pad forward again, only taking a couple of steps before Nema paused.

His eyes opened wide in surprise at her exclamation, and his ears pricked forward with interest. He knew what cliffs were, but he'd only heard the word "diving" used to describe the motions a bird sometimes made. He just couldn't picture a cliff diving - or even moving, for that matter.

"I must admit, I definitely haven't. What exactly is it?" He leaned forward slightly, intent on learning what "cliff diving" was and why it had Nema so excited.

She could feel the blood rushing to her cheeks with each bit of raise Dhoru offered her. Secretly she had to admit that she really liked the attention. Typically others would look her over, though since she came here that had become a less frequent action. But with Dhoru ... it was a whole other story. The way he looked at her, it made his eyes shine in a way that made her melt. He was such an adorably awkward male and she sorta liked that.

"Well for starters you'd have sand in your mane!" Nema took one glance into his eyes and felt her heart thumping in her chest. Embarrassed she quickly looked away. This was all so new to her, such a strange feeling of happiness mixed with discomfort. It was absolutely delightful!

Taken out of her thought process for a moment, she simply stared at Dhoru with an open mouth.

"Its only the BEST.THING.EVER! Oh you have to try it, just once! If you don't like it, i'll never ask you again!" Rambling off on her own tangent, she hardly had a moment to realize that she hadn't told him what it was. That is - until she looked at his confused face.

"Here, watch this!" She gave a sly smirk, noting the cliffs nearby. She knew this area well, it was probably her favorite spot to watch the stars. But that part was a secret! Maybe one day she would introduce Dhoru to that world, but not yet.

Glancing back at Dhoru with a wink, she darted off at the cliff, not halting for a moment. Just as she reached the edge, she sprang her paws from the ground and dove headlong off the cliff. Effectively disappearing from Dhoru's sight line.

Dhoru smiled and was just about to respond, "I couldn't take my eyes off you if I tried," when Nema suddenly rushed toward the cliff edge. His smile faded quickly and was replaced with concerned confusion, which in turn was replaced with terror as Nema leaped and dropped out of sight, and his heart dropped out of his butt.

He was too stunned to even move for a couple of heartbeats, until he heard the splash below. Hopefully, he rushed to the cliff edge and gazed over the edge, searching frantically until - yes! Nema's head bobbed to the surface not far from the cliffs, gasping for air. He was surprised to see that she was smiling, and even more surprised when she once again invited him to try.

As intrigued as he was, he couldn't help but feel glad that Nema couldn't see the fear he knew must be showing on his face. But this date was not only his first, but a very important day, and it needed to go well. Giving in to his fear and refusing to try something new was not a way to ensure that it went well. Besides, it looked fun. Dhoru backed up a few paces and braced himself; taking a deep gulp of air, he raced toward the edge before he could think and leapt as far as he could.

As he fell through the air, he didn't feel any of the fear he thought he would - instead, he felt... free. He let out an exhilarated cry and just had time for a quick breath before he hit the water. Once he was under the water, the rapid change in speed made it seem like everything was standing still. His lungs reminded him that they needed air and he kicked out with his strong legs and swam toward the light, breaking the surface next to Nema.

"That was amazing!" he cried in triumph.

I forgot to put this in here before. IC, Dhoru has had (the RP is going on still, but IC I'm assuming it's done already, since the other RP is before this date) a tail cuff made for Nema. He's going to present it to her at the end of this date and ask if she'll be his lifemate. The cuff will be made of sun-bleached white leather, with a tiny starfish on it and a hole bunch of multicolored stones - he's heard she likes the stars, so he thought she'd like the starfish and the stones 'cause the sparkle like stars.

If you'd like, I'd love to pay for the edits for it to be added to her picture. If you don't want her to wear it, she can just say it's too precious and she wouldn't want to lose it and keep it in her den or something. c:

For a few moments, she wasn't sure whether he would follow her. Which she kind of couldn't blame him, she had just jumped off a cliff. That wasn't some lions' idea of a good time. But quietly she kinda hoped he would. As she crowned against the surface of crashing wave, her breath caught up with her and she tried laughing between them. That resulted in little more than a few not so tasty gulps of sea water - but then she saw it. Just a single bolt of brown falling into the water. She yelped with glee as she waited for him to arise to the surface, and was even more elated when he did.

"Wasn't it!?" Gulping down another mouthful of salt water, she made a disgusted face and paddled her way to the shore. Careful to not outswim Dhoru in case he needed the assistance.

As she reached the shore, she turned on her heels and jumped for joy. Her heart bouncing happily in her chest as she cheered Dhoru on. "I told you it was amazing!" Her jumps for joy had now turned into more of a dance and she happily went along with the flow. "At first its a little scary but after your paws leave the ground ... its exhilarating!" Happy and out of her mind with adrenaline Nema shook her coat free of the extra water bogging her down and looked silently over at Dhoru. His coat was a mess, soaked in water and sand caked to his paws. It was definitely requiring a good bit of effort not to burst out laughing at his sad but humorous appearance.

Rennekae
Aww that's so sweet >3< I would definitely love to have that added to her image! She'd treasure it so much XD I could see her flaunting it around with pride. But you wouldn't have to worry with paying for it, though I appreciate the offer <3 All I would need from you is a perfect description of the item, with the size and all. So that its perfect when it gets done XD DHORU'S WORK MUST BE APPRECIATED!

Dhoru followed Nema back to the shore, worried at first that she might not be such a good swimmer. It didn't take long for him to realize that she was alright - more than alright! - and admire the strength in her body as she pushed toward the shore. It only took a split second for him to realize he had opened his mouth slightly; a wave of salty water cascaded into his mouth, and he nearly gagged.

"It's only frightening if you actually focus on what you're about to do. Even now, if I think about leaping off of a cliff I think I'm crazy!"

"Technically, you are crazy. And not just for that."
Hasi remarked teasingly. He had felt the absence of her presence for a few moments there, and realized that she must have found her way back down the cliffs and across the beach to meet him when he had jumped. "I may be fond of the lioness, but you're the only one who's madly in love - stress on the mad".

Dhoru smiled at the purred comments as he clambered onto the sand after Nema. Shaking out his fur - and especially his mane - he glanced at Nema, and then quickly at himself. Before he knew it, he was laughing uncontrollably. The fur he could see was slicked against his body, and he had wet sand all the way up to his elbows. He could only imagine how silly his head must look, with his mane flattened from the water. The thought only made him laugh harder, until he almost couldn't breathe.

"We look.... absolutely.. ridiculous!" he gasped between breaths.

"Someone had to say it."

Depawsit
Since it's to be a tail cuff, it'd have to be sitting on the small part of her tail that is showing. For size, it would cover most of that area - a part of her tail about the size of the blue stripes on her hind legs would be seen on either side of it. For positioning, I was thinking something like a little over half of the starfish being seen facing toward her hind-most leg? If you'd rather something else, I really don't mind. It's your choice. c:

The color would be an extremely pale tan, since the leather has been bleached by the sun/sea water. If you want the clasp to be showing, part will be on the edge of one side, and the other part will be embedded into the leather on the other side, so the leather overlaps where it attaches (similar to a button, but it would be a clasp from an old necklace).

The small stones will be shades of purple, white/clear and whatever Nema's favorite color is (we'll just assume Dhoru asked her so he knows). They'll be arranged pretty much randomly, so they resemble the stars "pattern" in the sky.

The starfish will be big enough to reach almost from top to bottom of the leather, and can be whatever natural starfish color you'd like. So you've got blue, green, pink, purple, orange, red, brown, grey and white. Personally, I think grey, brown or white, since they'll go with almost any color.

And I really do insist that you let me pay for the edits - after all, it was my idea and the male is meant to pay for the engagement ring. XD;;

She could hear their laughter even before she had made it to shore. Of course all of them knew how she looked when she came from the water - a sopping wet mess, and an even fluffier mess when she dried herself. But it wasn't until Dhoru climbed onto the banks that the laughter became deafening. She tried to ignore it, but then there were a few cat calls thrown into the ruckus and for some odd reason she was really flustered by it. Her tail bristled on her back, and she did a 180 facing the opposite direction of Dhoru and into what others would perceive as empty space.

'You shut your mouths this instant. That was uncalled for!"

Hissing her words in a low whisper, she quickly jolted her attention back to Dhoru just as he mentioned his appearance. That was when she lost it, he didn't look that ridiculous! In fact he seemed that much more adorable. But she wouldn't say that. What if he thought it was weird? Yeah he'd think it was weird, just like her family's cat calls had been weird.

"Aww its not that bad ...." Her words trailed as her attempts at hiding her laughter failed. A fit of laughter took over her entire body and she had to stabilize herself to stop from keeling over from them.

"OK ... but just a little ridiculous!"

Trying to calm her silly fits, she abruptly changed the subject, feeling her heart gush the closer she stepped towards him. "SO! What's next?! What exciting thing she would do next?" Her adrenaline was pumping, for more than reason and she couldn't help but prance around as she spoke.

Rennekae
Got it! I'll start trying for her tail cuff as soon as we finish this RP C:

I don't want to insist against paying for it if you'd really like to. But I also feel terrible making you pay for it XD Are you sure its something you want t do? I can pay for it myself if you'd like.

A few heartbeats after Nema's question, Dhoru finally managed to calm his mirth into a simple - but extremely large and goofy - smile. He had been so wrapped up in his laughter that he hadn't noticed Nema's hissed words, but that didn't stop Hasi from hearing.

"You know, she talks to herself almost as much as you do. If I pretend that you're not talking to me, which I must admit isn't a rare thing."

Dhoru threw Hasi an amused glance from the corner of his eye, one eyebrow raised in mock offense. He always found it funny how Hasi could throw around insulting phrases without so much as batting an eyelash. With a resigned sigh, he ignored her and returned his gaze to Nema - it was about time he answered her question.

But as their eyes locked, he found himself speechless for several heartbeats. Everything about this lioness was just so wonderful to him, from her dazzling white coat to her sparkling blue eyes. Since he had first met her, he had searched and searched for the words that would describe how she made him feel, and finally he found it. Of course, he knew he felt love, and joy, but now he knew - he felt like he was where he belonged, and he knew that now was the time.

"Well, what I had in mind doesn't exactly have the same thrill as jumping off a cliff, but I hope that you'll agree with me when I say I still find it just as exciting..." Letting his voice trail off, Dhoru turned his head and rooted around in his mane. Relieved to find that the item in question was still where he had left it, tangled in his wild locks, he swiftly released the item and placed it in the sand at Nema's paws. Meeting her eyes once more, he felt his nerves rising and pushed on before they could overwhelm him. "Nema, I've never felt this way before - not even the storms could bring the peace and happiness that you have - and I can't think of anything I'd rather do for the rest of my life than love you.

Will you be my lifemate?"

Depawsit
I'm absolutely positive. c:

Just let me know when you get the slot and who the colorist is, and I'll send the money order. Of course, you'll need to let me know how much it is, too. XD;
