Name: Laoise Rue
Age: around 30
Occupation: Hunter/Trapper
AppearanceWhen she comes out of the woods and into the city, townsfolk are often horrified by Lee's appearance: a savage hunter wrapped in furs and painted up to blend in with the trees and the wildlife, with a shock of hair so red that it leaves them superstition and uncertain. It is flaming red, it is mad, matted here and there, like a lion's mane around her face, and laced through with feathers.
Everything about Laoise speaks to a wild creature more than it does to a woman, to someone dangerous and crazy. Her features are neither feminine nor pretty: her face is long, thin, and somewhat masculine. Her nose is very straight and perhaps a bit oversized. Her mouth is straight, narrow, and very rarely splits into a smile.
Her eyes, fierce and focused and always on the move, might be the most unsettling thing about her, more predator than human...
PersonalityInfused with confidence, Lee never considers the possibility that any aspect of her personality should change. She is not afraid of who she is, and doesn't suffer from self-doubt: certain that she's attractive and capable, she holds herself with poise and generally that is all she needs. Even when she doesn't know what she's doing, this aura of certainty can make her seem more in control than she really is, and her sharp tongue will add weight to this.
In the heat of the moment she is decisive, willing to take any action instead of being paralyzed by uncertainty. However, she also lacks a certain amount of caution, meaning her actions are
reckless, wild and crazy. She is unable to take criticism -- and this, combined with her short-temper, means that she thinks she can do no wrong and is likely to blow up in someone's face when they try to tell her she's messed up...
SkillsA hunter and trapper by trade, Laoise is much better off in the forest than she is in the city -- sharp-eyed and focused, controlled and quiet, she is at her
best when she's prowling through branches and trees, checking snares and lines. She knows how to use a knife, something perhaps rare in a woman, and is even better with bow and arrow. She can put shelters together, can build quick traps, can tie knots. She can find her way by stars and the winds.
But put her in the city and she's lost. Her wild appearance and sharp tongue drives most civilians away, and she's wiser, usually, to just keep her mouth shut and follow Breu around like his loyal wife.
HistoryWithout Breu in her life, Lee would likely be entirely lost -- on her own, after her father's passing, she struggled to make the trades and deals that once had been managed so effortlessly, to find people willing to
buy those goods that she brought out of the woods.
The pair of them have been together, at this point, the better part of a decade -- and have
known each other for almost two, from a childhood friendship which grew to something more. Not marriage, many of their customers would probably be horrified to know, but wild hunters who exist mostly outside of societal norms.
Lee herself has been living this life since her mother's passing at childhood, joining her father on weeks-long excursions that taught her more about setting traps than about dealing with other people: and after all this time, it's probably too late for her to learn any different...
