It was such a lovely day...

The Princess had decided to venture out from her duties and places, find something new to do... Someone had told her of a beautiful rose garden, in a place that not many Noodles visited. It intrigued Zariah... why would one stay away from a place rumored to be so beautiful? So she decided to find out for herself. It had taken some convincing to be allowed to peacefully escape, her father was not pleased about his little girl going off so far on her own. Of course, Zariah was far from little... but try telling the King that.

Eventually, she was allowed to go. Of course, being allowed was not the problem, she was free to do what she wished, but if she did something against the Kings wishes it would bring her into bad light with her subjects and a Princess could not be in such a situation. Sometimes, only sometimes, did Zariah wish she was normal...

She tried to shake these thoughts from her head as she walked along. She'd managed to leave behind her guard -they were pointless when she was more deadly than all of the guards combined-, but had brought her bow and arrows to do some hunting on the way home. Such weaponry also warded off would-be thieves who wanted their grubby paws on her jewels or precious leathers. Of course, Zariah didn't have much of an idea as to what life was like in places other than her home, which was in a remote place at the base of the mountains. She had never been to the city, or even a small town before... And Zariah had to admit to herself, being alone in such unfamiliar lands was scary.

The Princess was so lost in thought that she hardly noticed when she arrived at the place the commoner had mentioned. However, with a quick look around, she realized why not many visited the garden. Everything about her surroundings seemed shady... She could feel her fur prickle, and she shifted her bow to be more quickly available. It didn't take her long to find this garden... the scent drew her in. For a moment, she simply stared... they had rose gardens back home, but, she had to admit, nothing like this. "So pretty..." The vixen breathed, before exploring it further.

User Image Day turned to dusk in the blink of an eye the moment she entered the rose garden. The roses were all a deep crimson, the color that storybooks promised they would be. Something about this area was just peculiar, almost magical, as if time didn't effect it in the same way the outside world was. The scent of the roses was sweet, but not overpowering. Perhaps she had really stepped into a storybook? But what would storybooks be without a prince?

It was teatime for the boss of the Hatter gang. Blood had finally taken his place at the table, watching a stray rose petal, probably from his hat, now that he thought about it, fall into the teacup. It lingered on the surface, silent ripples coursing through the liquid, the color of which reminded one of cherry wood. However, he could sense tonight that it wasn't only his servants about. There was someone else here. Grabbing his cane, the handsome male went off to search for this unexpected visitor.

It didn't take him long. He knew the maze through the roses better than anyone else, except, perhaps, his sister. But Vivaldi would be far too busy this evening to visit her lowly brother, and certainly Alice hadn't come to see him. He hoped it wasn't the madman either, because that violin music was unbearable, and would certainly crack his teacups. However, it was none of his friends of Wonderland who had come to visit him, but instead, a rather dazzling female he did not know. Her jewels were the first thing he noticed, those and her eyes. She certainly wasn't a commoner, but then again, it was usually not the commoners who visited the Hatter mansion.

"Enjoying the gardens?" He asked, watching her regard the nearly endless passages of the roses. "They're most lovely at this time of day, aren't they? The only thing that could make them more lovely is a night of stars and fireflies." He was almost murmuring, a habit of his. He seemed to be interested in who this regal lady was, though didn't forget his manners. "Welcome to the Hatter mansion, m'lady...I am Blood Dupre, the master of this house. Is there anything I may do to assist you?" He eyed the bow and arrows upon her person, though didn't linger upon them. He was used to armed visitors, after all.

When the male approached, Zariah could have shot herself with her own arrow. How did she not hear him? How did she allow someone to sneak up on her like that? Some Princess. She had been so lost in the garden, which seemed like a whole different world entirely, that when she had heard his voice it startled her so that it was a wonder she didn't jump sky high.

Zariah took a moment to mentally congratulate herself on keeping her calm appearance, as well as slow her heart rate and inspect the male before her. As he spoke, she noted everything she could about him as well as the words he spoke. A Princess should always pay complete attention to detail... and she wasn't going to slip up twice. Zariah could easily tell this male came from wealth, that was something even the blind could see. She couldn't say she wasn't impressed, his style of dress was sharp but, like hers, personalized with details. The flowers on his hat, what appeared to be cards... and the card suits marked on his hat and shirt cuffs. Even his staff held personality. His fur was much, much lighter than her own, and he had the lightest teal eyes she'd ever seen. He was, even by her standards, quite the handsome Noodle.

The only thing Zariah found odd was the name of his mansion. Hatter... Why the Hatter mansion, when his last name was Dupre? It was a curious thing, but merely a simple detail and Zariah was here for the garden, not to delve into personal lives.

"I am, indeed. It is quite the lovely garden you have, Sir Dupre." Zariah spoke smoothly. "Thank you for your welcome. My name is Zariah, I am a Princess of my lands." She bowed as was custom to her, never letting her golden eyes fall from the male. "My apologies if my weapon makes you uncomfortable, I would like you to understand that I have traveled a distance and, as I'm sure you've already noticed, my adornments are such that can attract... unwanted attention." Granted, she didn't really need a weapon for protection, but the last thing she was going to do was come into another's territory and make indirect threats. That was quite un-lady-like.

He didn't see to be bothered by her weapons, though simply chuckled and listened to her speak. She was certainly royalty, with such lovely adornments as those. However, he wasn't rude, and kept his eyes on her face, not about the be regarded as rude to the visiting royalty.

"Ah yes...I try to take care of it." He replied with a chuckle. "This garden is my pride and joy, though few come to see it besides the other natives to Wonderland. It is an honor to have a princess come to see it though. You are definitely most welcome to come and go as you please." He gave a bow, greeting Zariah properly. "I do hope you will enjoy your time here."

At the mention of the weapon possibly offending him, he laughed. "Oh, those are no stranger to these lands. Nearly everyone who visits my territory is armed. You could say I am as well. Though danger rarely passes through here, except with one visitor, though I haven't heard from him in a while...." Blood mused, glancing off at the building. It had been a while since he'd heard from Gowland, the crazy old coot. But perhaps that was a blessing....

"You're welcome to explore. I was just about to have a cup of tea or two and enjoy the evening. You are more than welcome to join me." He offered with another bow. "It would be an honor to be in the company of royalty, M'Lady."

Zariah welcomed the easy manner in which Dupre spoke; it was quite different than the way she was spoke to back home, and made for a more relaxed setting. When he mentioned most visitors to the gardens being armed, she had to mentally question it. Was she in a place of danger? The last thing she needed was to get herself killed, or worse.

And she knew there were far worse things than death itself.

At his offer of tea, Zariah smiled and nodded slowly. "Tea sounds lovely, and the pleasure is all mine. Thank you, kind Sir~"

With a sudden, sickening thought, Zariah wished she had brought along a guard after all. What if he tried to poison her? ... The princess shook the fright away; she knew she was just being a paranoid little girl, far from home.

It was perhaps better if she didn't know for now that there were small disagreements as he'd put it in the area over territory. While some would die, it wasn't like they would go without life forever, especially with the help of the clock master, who could repair them with ease on his own time. Even now he had a few employees who needed to be fixed, though he certainly wasn't too down on his numbers. But if the need arose for the guest to use her own bow, then he would certainly have his own gun at his disposal.

But then again, there were few who saw the need to challenge him, especially with the calm lull of things at the current moment. Though, he knew, perhaps soon that would end.

"Right this way then." He gestured out to take her hand, if he would allow her to do so, and guide her to the table, already set with fine china. When they arrived, a few maids were setting out the sugar and kettle, though hurried even faster when they noticed that there was a guest, quick to get out of their way. "Ah, right on time." He smiled, glancing to Zariah. "You may choose where you wish to sit, ladies first."

Zariah allowed Dupre her hand, and couldn't help a small blush at the gesture. Outside of her village, she held herself as more of a Prince than Princess, strong and bold and not one to mess with. She feared others thinking her weak or naive, too much of a lady. Here, however, with Dupre acting such the gentleman and her being a guest to his lands, she knew it more appropriate to take on her lady-like side. It wouldn't kill her, right?

She wasn't entirely convinced of that...

As the male led her through the gardens to the table, she allowed herself to take in her surrounds more. The flowers were certainly stunning, to say the least. Colors and forms so vibrant, smells so delightful... And now that she looked, it seemed the sky itself had changed. How had she not noticed that before? Was it simply due to the gardens and mansion and place of the sun?

Once at the table, Zariah smiled at the scene before her. Dupre certainly had good tastes, if she hadn't figured that one out already, and it was nice to see such manners among his maids. Turning her smile on the male, she nodded and thanked him, then moved to take her seat. Zariah couldn't say she particularly loved tea, but every now and then it was just the sort of thing she needed~
