Elliot's life had been quite adventurous since meeting Azguard. She had chosen to accompany him on his deliveries; having nothing to leave behind in her old life, she was free to go as she pleased.
The two spent their days traveling between villages, delivering parcels to the humans and other Soquili alike.
Elliot was happy to have a companion and someone to talk to. Sometimes the walking could get boring, but she liked to try and liven things up with her playful nature. It didn't always go over so well with Azguard, but she never let that stop her.
One particular errand they were on was an extra difficult recipient to find. They had been given their destination and set out to find them.
Elliott walked along beside her friend, chatting away merrily, when something small and quick ran up her leg, and jumped off her flank over onto Azguard's back. This startled the mare and she bucked, kicking her back legs behind her. She squealed in fright and ran around in circle. "Get it off! Get it off! Get it OFFFFF!" she exclaimed, still kicking wildly. She hadn't noticed that it wasn't on her anymore...

Azguard glanced over to his companion and only friend from time to time. He had accepted a package, a gift he imagined, that morning. Slowly he was getting word spread of his service. Their service. He couldn't count out Elliot from this plan of his. She had stuck around surprisingly for some time now and she enjoyed it. Once she even weaseled it out of him that he enjoyed having her around. She kept the quiet at bay in the least which made the journeys far less lonely. How ever the large stallion was worried about having her as well. Some places weren't so pleasant to just stroll through. He could still clearly remember when he warned her and she smiled and accepted it as a challenge. His head had just hung in defeat and accepted it.
This case today was different then the usual but the journey would be the same. Traveling everywhere to find this soquili would be interesting. Already he could see the mare to his left was in a happy mood. That was, until something had startled her. He hadn't seen it when she first reacted and since it landed on the saddle upon his back he hadn't felt it either. Her bucking and panic made his gaze quickly travel over her form for the attacker. He stood still as she ran about "Calm down. What is it?" He asked, not seeing anything out of the ordinary. "Ele" he urged her to settle using a nickname he used once in a while to grab her attention. "I don't see anything" He stared at her, as well as the little critter on his back.

His calm reverie broke through her panic and she stopped bucking around, but stopped and looked herself over to be sure. It was only after she was sure there was nothing there that she looked over at him, and smiled. "Phew! I don't know what it was, but -" Her words cut off mid sentence as her eyes laid upon the thing on his back, sitting on his saddle. There stood a furry little squirrel, picking at the package tied to his saddle.
"THERE!" she yelled, thrashing her head about in the direction of his saddle. "On your back! It's a little furry creature trying to steal the package." She said frantically.

He chuckled inwardly at her antics, amused at her prancing about. "You must have scared it." he also commented as she spoke. Noticing her eyes widen set him back. He didn't know why she was staring at him that way.
With her new exclamation of this creature on his back, he turned his head. Sure enough it was a grey squirrel sitting on his saddle and trying to untie the package. Turning his head he looked about. On the ground was an old dead branch having fallen from some long ago storm or just weight snapped the end. He spoke calmly, not wanting her to panic more. "See that branch? Pick it up and try to shoo it away." He could have done so himself but would have surely just come to harm trying to hit his back with the thing. At least if she did it she could aim better. He stood still, hearing the squirrel gnaw at the bindings holding the package in place. He kept patience, sure he wouldn't loose the box to a pesky little creature like that.

She nodded, sure she could do it. She reached down and picked up the branch in her mouth and turned her head with it pointed towards the squirrel. She moved closer, the smaller twigs poking at the critter.
As she got near, the squirrel's ears perked up, and his head twitched around to look at her, seeing the branch aimed at him. It jumped up, onto the package, then ran up onto Azguard's neck and head, and bounded off his head onto Elliot's back and then off onto the ground and away from the two soquili.
Eli swung wildly behind her with the branch, when she felt the creature on her again, and dropped it as he bounced away.
She shook herself and stepped closer to Azguard. "What an annoying little animal. Did he hurt the package?" she asked.

Watched her pick up the branch and ducked his head low. Not that he hadn't trusted her, it was just a long branch and there was no telling what would happen. As she tried to shoo the squirrel, he couldn't see the creature flee leaving scratch marks on the parcel and bolting over his very own neck and head. Azguard shook his head to dislodge the scrambling critter. For his efforts he recieved a light smack with the branch before ducking from her swinging. He stepped back to further avoid it and watched the squirrel finally run off.
Brown eyes traveled over her form as she tossed aside the branch and approached him. No trace of squirrel now at least. His ears turned forward to her question. They both would look back at the package to see a small hole in one corner of the box, scratch marks on the lid and the cord holding it to his saddle loosened and frayed from its gnawing. "It could be worse.." He huffed a sigh. This was nothing compared to time he lost a light weight package that ended up in a stream. He tracked it for a full day before dragging it out, soaking wet and taking it to its owner who wasn't too happy with him and he imagined she wouldn't ever let him live it down either. He motioned to the satchel strapped further on his hind quarters. "There's new rope in there"

Elliot blinked at him. "Az, how am I supposed to tie a rope?" She really had no idea, and couldn't possibly do so, even if she did know how.
"We'll just have to keep going and hope it doesn't fall off." she suggested.

His lips parted while he gave that a moment. "It has a loop. Just grab it and I will hold one end, you toss it over and.." he could see he was still loosing her on the idea. "It's fine." he finished. He made another glance towards his back. It wobbled when he started to walk. They still had a long trek ahead of them. This would set them back further forcing the stallion to walk much slower then his normal quick steps. Usually nothing bothered him to the point of quiet grumbling but then he really disliked something messing with his so far almost perfect reliability.
Big hooves thudded against the earth, the sound changing from heavy thuds against dense dirt to wet pops. They had reached a marsh and from the looks of it, this area stretched quite a ways ahead of them. He pulled at his feet, the mud they reached first sucking at his hooves. "Be careful. Here walk behind me" He called out to her. If he lead the way he could prevent her from finding a mud pit or find herself up past her ears in swamp water. He moved with sure steps though at any time he too could sink.

"Ok Az. If you think it'll be ok." she said, defeated.
She followed after him, stepping carefully, trying to keep her hooves in line with his steps. Mud was sticking to her hooves, making them heavy as she trudged through the swamp.
"UGH!" she complained, "This is so gross. Do you have to travel through here often?" She stuck her tongue out in protest, lifting her foot and shaking some of the mud off it.

He had to push aside the dilemma of being really late. There was nothing they could do now to speed things along. His attention stuck to the ground, lowering his head to use brute strength to push a dead log out of their path. The log gurgled as it lurched through the mud to a different spot, mud filling it's empty body with a slurp.
A glop of mud flicked onto his back leg making Azguard look up and back at his friend. "Some times. It depends where I need to go." He commented, passing off her complaint. She was lucky this would be the only obstacle they came across. He had to try hoofing over mountain terrain once. "I've been thinking..." he paused as he typically did. Conversation was still a weak suit for him. "In the future, a herd to deliver.. need a flier."

Elliot eyed the package on Azguard's back, hoping it would stay on. She watched as he moved the log from their path, and focused on keeping her footing through the slippery muck.
"A flyer? Why do you need a flyer? And how could you fly? You don't have wings." she said curiously.

Azguard slowed to a stop to look around at their surroundings. If he didn't keep track of their path they could easily get turned around. "Have you seen the mountains? There are those living on and over them. It could take me weeks to reach. Unless I had a winged accomplice to reach the destination faster." His head shook to the comment on his not having wings but he made no reply to it.
With a lifted leg he started moving again, the mud sticking less to his hooves the further in they went. Now more and more the ground was just wet with water and moss. The trees becoming more sparse as it opened up to the large lakes of water streaming together in a lazy motion. This allowed her to no longer need to follow in his hoof steps.

"Uhh...nope. No mountains around here Az. This looks like a swamp to me." She curled her lips at the muck. "Can we hurry and get out of this yucky ---ah!" she started to say, but she stepped into a deep hole, causing her to sink into the water, up to her chest. One foot still on semi-sturdy ground, but it was slippery with the water and mud. "Oh no!" she cried, struggling to try and get up. "It's too slippery, I can't get up."

He could have easily assume she wasn't listening to him correctly. Instead he thought it was his own way of wording that made the conversation seem a little awkward. He was thinking of a good reply to try and ease the confusion of his mentioning mountains when he heard her cry out. His head jerked to spot her. Turning around he called "Hold on!" Trudging the short distance to her and still on mostly solid but liquid ground, he gave her situation a quick assessment. He bucked and ducked his head to loosen the rein from behind his neck. "Grab hold" he spoke firmly, stretching out his neck for her to reach the leather strap hanging in front of her.

She reach out to grab hold of the reins, and held tight with her teeth. She pushed hard with her solid footing, hoping Az would be able to pull her out. Her back legs just slid around in the mud, gaining no traction.
