Lex, currently dripping of sweat and holding in a few choice grunts, raised his upper body and legs off the floor, leaving only his back on it. "Seventy...five." He sighed, releasing the full body crunch and rolling onto the balls of his feet while breathing in slowly. Exhale. A sip of water, and he was walking to the chin up bar.

When he heard the door open, he thought nothing of it. Just another person working out - more than likely Leon, actually. The Life Hunter was nearly always in the gym, so it would be no surprise.

"Hey!" He called out as he began to lift his chin over the bar with little effort.

Ryan didn't care for the gym. He wasn't the athletic sort outside of his usual training, but when you had nothing to do, you found yourself exploring all sorts of things. It was only natural that he ended up here eventually. Though when he opened the door, he was a little surprised to receive a greeting and even more surprised to see who it was. If he recalled correctly, it was the same hunter who had blocked his path during that chaotic time in the haunted house. The one who shot him... right.

Instead of saying anything, Ryan waited until the other was doing his chin lifts and counting again before he spoke. Only instead of a greeting he got-- "51, 40, 83, 5--"

Ah yes, throwing off their count was always fun.

Lex flinched a little at the voice upon realizing just whose it was - Ryan's, the young man he'd fought an insanity plagued mantis thing with, and later shot at during the mayhem in the Haunted House. Dropping down onto both feet, he turned around to see the blonde and offered a polite wave.

"Ah, Ryan! Good to see you up and about." Lex offered, his smile a little too big for the occasion. He had reason to be nervous around the Moon; not only had he shot him multiple times, but he'd also slept with one of his close friends. Lex usually didn't think about that last bit, but coupled with the fact that the young man probably had a grudge on him? The Lifeer got the feeling that if he even pronounced something wrong the other man would just hate him more.

"Did you enjoy Christmas?"

Ryan watched as the other dropped to ground, landing lightly on his feet. He barely knew Lex, but from what he knew of him, he wasn't a bad person. Or at least, that's what he thought until he shot him. "Is that so?" He smiled, but whether he meant it was questionable. In fact, Ryan was probably thinking up ways to get back at the life trainee at that very moment. Probably some harmless pranks and the like. Something to make his life hell for the next few days.

"I didn't do anything for Christmas." he admitted. "I think I slept through most of it." He probably had. Truth be told, he hadn't even counted the days, so he wasn't sure when Christmas had even passed.

"Of course; after seeing what happened in Alaska and all the crap you and Kat went through before that..." Lex cokced his head a little, smiling weakly. Did Ryan not think people would be concerned about his welfare, or was he just being an obtuse person? Probably the second option, considering who the Moon was talking to.

"You probably needed it." Lex offered, taking a swig from his water bottle and patting his face with the blue towel he'd brought. "Did you at least get some good presents? Not that Christmas is about those, but..." Lex really hoped he liked his beer. Lex himself didn't like beer, but from what he'd gathered from working in a club and just general stereotypes, Canadians enjoyed beer.

...what if he hated beer? Oh God, that would be bad.

Ryan eyed the other, unsure of how exactly to react.

"I haven't really looked yet." One, he couldn't have been bothered. Since coming back, he had been emotionally and physically drained. Two, it was probable that the gifts were from the very people he had helped get into trouble. He couldn't accept anything from them as he was. Not before he made it up to them. Well, with the exception of the clothes that Wilson had got him. He was kind of lacking in those after all. So Ryan had yet to actually see the beer cans and the message with them.

Though before Lex could say anything else, Ryan gave him another look. This time unreadable.

"You shot me, didn't you?"

Okay, now Lex was getting uncomfortable. He didn't like getting unreadable looks; he prided himself in reading people and responding to their emotions in ways that would favor himself and possibly the other party. He gulped a little, biting his lower lip.

"...Yeah, I did." His head hung as he loosed a drawn out sigh, brow furrowed at the thought of it all. He was confused, he wall following orders...but it was so wrong, and he realized that.

"And I'm sorry I did." He made sure to give Ryan no time to speak before he apologized, making eye contact with the young man. "Though, I understand if you don't accept my apologies."

Ryan waited. From what he could tell, Lex was feeling rather guilty over the whole incident. However, it wasn't going to save him from what was about to come.

"Lex." Was all he said, waiting just until he raised his head and make eye contact with him before he threw a punch directly across his cheek. Which, despite being weaponless as he was, probably still hurt like hell. His fighting style, after all, did specialize in hand to hand combat. "Now we're even." He finished with a wry grin. "What? Did you really think I would hold a grudge over something like that?" He asked. "You don't even need to apologize for it. You were only following orders and given that I was opposing those orders, I suppose its only natural that we clashed."

To say Lex was expecting a punch right in the face would be a downright lie. It stunned him as he fell back on the floor, a little shaken and clearly unsure of how to feel. He was grateful that they were even now, but felt like he deserved more. Ryan, however, thought differently it would seem.

Feeling his face absently with his right hand while pushing himself up with his left arm, the Life trainee found that yes, he would be getting a nice little bruise. The area where Ryan had punched him was already swelling just a bit.

"Well...good to know." He remarked, dusting his bare back off. "You've got a mean punch, by the way."
PostPosted: Fri Jan 04, 2013 11:42 pm

Ryan watched, but made no move to help the other up. Instead, he grinned down at him in a cheeky sort of way that told Lex that he was enjoying every minute of this. Already he could see the bruise surfacing under the skin, as well as swelling, which told him it was going to be a beauty.

"I should hope so." His grin grew ever so slightly. "If can't even throw a good punch without my weapon, I'd be in trouble." Locke would also never let him hear the end of it, if he were here that was.

That aside.

"I hear Kat's been staying with you. She okay?" Of course, it was a totally innocent question and Ryan had no clue that Lex had actually slept with the girl. Yet.

"You'd have made a great bouncer." Lex commented, still gingerly feeling the contact area. If he ever needed some kind of defense for something, he'd be calling Ryan; that was for sure.

When he brought up Kat, a small smile came to his face. He wasn't one to kiss and tell for the most part, and he'd rather not be on the receiving end of another Ryan Special.

"Ah, she's doing well. She moved in with Ami on Christmas, so I'm sure she's doing even better now." He smiled a little more fondly, a light chuckle forming in his throat. "I tried to make my room as comfortable as possible for her, but she would freak out a little bit whenever I took a shirt off to change."
PostPosted: Mon Jan 07, 2013 3:22 pm

At that comment, Ryan looked at his arm and snorted. "You clearly haven't seen bouncers before." He answered in an amused tone. Last he checked, bouncers were all muscle and huge. Ryan was 5'8" and scrawny. "I think they would laugh if I had ever asked for that kind of job."

"Is she?" That was good. He hadn't seen her since getting back, but she was pretty banged up the last time he saw her. So having some reassurance that she was on the mend made him relax a little more. Though one thing baffled him. "Kat freak out? Are we talking about the same Kat?" The only time he had ever seen Kat flip out was when that alternate universe version of Mark had made an advance on her, nearly kissing the girl.

"....What did you do?" Now there was a suspicious look.

Lex gave Ryan a piqued eyebroe, and mentally debated a few answers in his head. Which would be the least likely to get him punched? The honest truth, the subtle truth, or maybe to just glaze over the subject.

"Well...you may want to sit down for this one." He cast a look off to the side, indicating the bench press with a slight nod before walking the few feet over to it and sitting, leaving space for the scrawny moon.

Once Ryan was seated, Lex chuckled lightly in his throat, though it was more nerves than actual amusement. "I suppose you could say I didn't do anything...."

The look of suspicion did not leave his face, even as he took a seat like Lex had instructed him to do. Clearly something had happened and someone big enough that it made Kat freak out.

"And yet its something you're having trouble repeating." Which meant that he wasn't entirely innocent either. Or it was something that bad.

Lex gave Ryan a long look before sighing, shaking his head with a little smile.

He'd try this again.

"It's not a question of my doing things, Ryan. It's a matter of whom."
