Qilin has, and always would be, an early riser. It was proven as she graced the morning dew with her presence, her footfalls making not so much as a dent in the swaying grass. It was with nature that she felt at peace, breathing deep with each passing wind and feeling the cool air as the plants would. She loved her abilities for this much. A glance towards the rising sun and she felt renewed, though a slight tug was drawing her away from her precious nature and towards the shop. Her instincts told her to leave her peaceful surroundings and face the inner domain, the idea making her wrinkle her nose slightly. She would do as her instincts told her regardless.

It had been a harsh night at the hospital, but Panzer found herself struck with a bad case of insomnia. Exhausted, but unable to sleep, she had tossed and turned for hours before finally wandering down to the shop to sprawl on the couch. Not...a good night. And today wasn't looking to be much good either.
Why was she even here? The patrons were beginning to shuffle and file in, and the noise was beginning to approach the din it would settle at for most of the day and part of the night. It was still early enough morning that there were only a few knots of noodles around the shop, but that was still too many noodles for the grumpy nurse's taste. If there was someone she could talk to, maybe she'd feel a bit better, but no, it was mostly people flirting or making new friends--two activities she'd grown out of long ago. Everybody just go away, she thought miserably.

The tiny bell over the door would alert the shop goers as she entered, taking a moment to have her eyes adjust to the unnatural light that filtered through the main room. She let herself be led by instinct, and it took only moments for her to take note of the Spartan on the couch, the creature in which she was to face for the morning. As awkward as it would be to the other, Qilin had no choice in the matter as she lightly touched the femme's tail; the physical contact she needed to speak. "You've had a rough night." She commented, the waves of sleep deprivation coming off Panzer like a flare signal to Qilin's senses. As well as her misery, Qilin noted just as easily. Common decency, however, prevented her from commenting on the latter, as she was sure her touch alone would upset her and there was no need to dredge up more displeasure on a first greeting.

Panzer was just glad she hadn't worn her armor back to the shop. In fact, she hardly ever wore the stuff--her height and charcoal fur alone advertised to all the world that she was a Spartan through-and-through. For the most part, it meant that she was never bothered. Except, it seemed, for this morning. Pan cracked open one blue eye to stare at the unknown femme. She was a kirin, or was of kirin stock, at least. She'd never met one with wings, front paws, or an unusual mane like this one, but it was pretty plain that she was a kirin. She was also very pretty, like a koi or a bird.
A younger Pan would have reacted badly to a nosy stranger feeling up her tail, but she liked to think she'd matured since her wild youth. Whoever this kirin was, she seemed friendly enough, and it was only a light touch on her tail, after all. She cracked a rueful smile. "Was it that obvious?" she asked. She sat up, trying not to groan as the room swam around her in a fit of dizziness from the change in position. "Sorry, I didn't mean to take up the whole couch like this. Just, you're right, rough night, and I couldn't sleep."

She offered a soft smile, keeping her contact. "There have been worse ones, I'm sure. And no, it wasn't obvious.. not at first." She made her way to a more comfortable position, leaning against the front of the couch, but made no move to take up any seating next to the other female. Instead, she looked towards Panzer's tail with an inner sigh, "I do hope the contact doesn't bother you. I cannot speak without it, and it was quite necessary to inform you that... I'm not in the shop often, but somehow I'm here. My instinct is a strange mistress to abide." Honesty was something Qilin was good at, despite how forward it made her seem. And, given the just-met situation, it would only make her less comfortable to admit it.

Physical contact? Pan blinked bleerily. Maybe she'd been more tired than she'd thought. She suddenly wondered if she was, in fact, actually hearing the kirin. Or was it in her mind? Oh, Goddess, she couldn't be dealing with this right now. Today was not a good day to question her sanity. <******** it. I'm talking out loud. I don't have the capacity to think right now. Talking's just gonna have to cut the mustard as always. "There've been a few worse days, but not many." She sighed. "A couple people died last night. It's not usually this bad. So yeah, really, really rotten night that I'd rather not think about. And don't worry, physical contact doesn't matter. Not much anyway."
She sighed. "I'm not in the shop much, either. No one I like comes here anymore, and I've got a lot of bad memories here now." Bad memories like a heart broken over and over and over again. She felt like her whole life was in itty-bitty fragments right now. Coming here was a bad idea. A really bad one. What she should be doing right now was being at home in bed sprawled over her little sister's lap, having her hair combed and having soft, comforting words whispered in her ear. She needed comfort. What she had right now was a conversation with a stranger that would probably wear her out. Social interactions usually did. "What did your mistress want you to do here, d'y'think?" She could remain polite for a while, right? Yeah, right. Let's see how long that lasts.

"Well..." She mused lightly, a smile crossing her features, "I'm talking to you, so perhaps you are the one I'm meant to meet." Not to mention the waves of cruel sadness that leaped across the air between them clung to Qilin to the point of suffocation and she couldn't bear such sadness. "I suppose you were drawn here in some strange way as well? Maybe your unfortunate memories can make way for new, better ones; here and now, if you don't find me a bothersome company."

Companionship. Pan wasn't sure if she had the energy to be a person right now, a person with feelings and emotion and an obligation to play nice with the other children and argh. But she had to do so anyway. Well, the latter, at least. So she shifted a little, flicked her tail and one ear, and shrugged. "Maybe I was. Hell, I don't know anything about my instincts anymore. So, um. I'm Pan." She stuck out a paw towards the stranger. If nothing else, she could learn the stranger's name. She was nice, even if she was weird, and Pan could take some time out of wallowing in misery to meet a nice person, right? Right.
