Subject: Karoko & Verchiel
Shop: Modifoxes
[10:53:00 PM] Jinx: A young woman stepped out into the room. Her long, deep purple hair was pulled back into a thick pony tail, spilling down to her elbows; loose it went almost to her waist. Two loose strands framed a face from which glowing silver eyes gazed out with high curiousity.
Her outfit, all dark purple with decorations in lilac, consisted of an off-the shoulder shirt and mini skirt, a pair of lilac leggings and silver boots with dark purple fastenings. Though not visible to humans, and not even visible to other foxes unless they consciously looked for them, a pair of twin tails peeked out from underneath her skirt. A subtle silver glow surrounded her, like a luminous plant.
[11:02:16 PM] Yushika: A young man was already within the room. Purple eyes started at the painting before him, pale hands trembling around the paintbrush he held. He was scared to begin painting. Scared /she'd/ be there again. Scared his hand would betray him. Scared he'd remember all over. The spider earring jangled as his head rose, long black hair slipping over his shoulders. He hadn't cut it in so long, and now it reaced his elbows, a long mane that fell into bright eyes, his piercings hidden as his hands reached up to rub his fingers over them, a nervous habit.
Yet, he wanted to paint... just not /her/. Not that strange woman who had entered his heart long ago....
His fingers touched his black leather jacket, purple belts hanging off it. His shirt was also purple, a button up half opened. His pants were black with purple studs going up the side, clinking as his legs shifted. That was when his eyes raised, spotting a beautiful woman right before his eyes. Oh. /Oh/. She was... she was rather.... Oh.
[11:19:28 PM] Jinx: Verchiel brushed a strand of hair out of her face; bangs might look cute, but they could be annoying sometimes! She contiuned her inspection of the room she had walked into. That was when she first realized she wasn't as alone as she had thought.
"Oh, hello," she said in a distracted voice, waving a hand towards the male with the artsy stuff out. How on earth had she gotten here? None of her siblings or parents were here, which meant no one was watching them at this moment. Vigilance, that's what was needed! If she'd been more vigiliant the whole thing with her sister would never of happened. Well, the runt was gone so everything was fine for now, but who knew what would happen if she slacked off again!
How on earth did she work those dang portals to get back to her family?
[11:25:15 PM] Yushika: "Evening." He whispered back, eying her glow. She was pretty. But that wasn't what had made him freeze. She was /different/, and because of that she was beautiful to him. He wanted to paint her. He wanted to actually paint someone. His muse had been so absorbed by /her/, by his mistake, that his muse had started to suffer and scream and choke. It had drowned. Yet this glowing beauty... she was...
s**t, Karoko. What the ******** was with him? He was just a creep, wasn't he? A failure, a creep, a /mistake/. Yet, he couldn't help it. He wanted to paint her. He knew better, though.
She seemed distraught? The tall man rose, back cracking as he finally moved. He approached her, cautiously, eyes flickering gently a kindness that seemed frightened, as if they were waiting for her to lash and break. "Ma'am." He whispered. "Are you lost?"
[11:28:25 PM] Jinx: Verchiel placed her hands on her hips, glaring around at the room and ignoring the presence of the man. She at least seemed to hear his question. "I'm not lost, I'm just not where I want to be," she huffed, glaring at the walls and thin air like it was their fault she was here and not watching over her family. Which, in her mind, it was, since she wasn't sure /where/ the portals appeared from and the walls and thin air were the best scapegoats for her indignity.
"Stupid portals, always appearing everywhere and taking you to strange places rather than where you /want/ to go, like they /should/," she muttered rebelliously under her breath.
[11:34:28 PM] Yushika: A low chuckle escaped his mouth, head tilting. "I see. Portal issues. " With this, he moved away, hand raising, gloved, and waving. "It'll be fine. You'll get the hang of them one day. It takes some time." He mused, returning to his seat and settling down, arms folding. "I suppose you haven't learned what use this room can be, have you?" She must be new, he mused to himself.
[11:45:25 PM] Jinx: Verchiel crossed her arms over her chest, turning her attention to the male for the first time. "I don't really care what this room can be used for, unless it can make my family appear." She fidgeted in place, though her gaze didn't waver. "It's like every time I appear in here and away from them, not able to watch them, things happen." From the way her face puckered slightly, these things she spook of were not to her approval.
[11:47:04 PM] Yushika: "What if I could make it so you can see them?" He asked, head turning to view the girl with interest. "You know, in here, a thought goes a long way." His fingers pushed back long hair, eyes watching the glowing woman and her slight pout. Was she.... like a child! It was endearing. "If you say please, I'll help you." He whispered, slightly playful for the first time in what seemed forever.
[11:54:43 PM] Jinx: Verchiel's lips went into a definite pout, making her look younger than she was, which was already pretty young. "I don't know if I want your help, if you're going to tease me about it," she said, and there was a definite note of sulkiness to her voice. She was never going through another one of those portals again if she could ever help it! First that really annoying guy who'd refused to help her with a serious problem, now this guy who was treating yet another serious problem (though not as serious as the last problem!) like it was amusing. Was she the only one who could see that her family absolutely could /not/ function unless she was there?
[11:54:56 PM] Jinx: ((....Ver, I think you got worse for that time you spent stuck away in my head.))
[11:57:32 PM] Yushika: "I was playing. I apologize." He actually sounded sincere, which he was. Standing, he offered an apologetic smile, glancing towards the walls and extending his hands. With a flourish of lights and shimmering air, a mirror appeared, his eyes flicking over to watching the woman with the same apologetic expression on his face. "There. You can see whatever you wish to from there. Portals consume a lot of energy, so this is the best I can do right now." He was sick, mentally, unable to give the energy needed for a portal at the moment. Still, he hoped this was enough to please this strange, glowing girl.
[12:09:28 AM] Jinx: Verchiel gave the male a suspcious look, like she suspected him of playing a trick on her, but she uncrossed her arms and slowly approached the bit of mirror the man had conjured up. At first she saw only her reflection, and that was about when she was convinced that this /was/ just another big joke to him. Then it occured to her that maybe she was concentrating too much on thinking this was a trick and not enough on seeing her family.
She tried to push her doubts to the back of her mind and focused instead on her family. Her fathers and brothers, and especially her sister! Girl was too popular for her own good! For a while nothing happened. Just when she was about to give up and give the man a piece of her mind, there was a feeling like a tug from her and her image faded from the glass. Slowly, flickering images of her family filled the blank space.
Verchiel watched just long enough to be satisfied that everything was alright; she didn't want the male to peek over her shoulder and get a glimpse of any of them and decide he thought they were attractive! However, as the flickering images died and she turned back to the room, she viewed the male with a bit more favor.
"Thank you," she said, actually smiling. "That was helpful."
[12:26:17 AM] Yushika: "I'm glad." He returned her smile, pleased he actually received one. The now tired male rested his head back on the chair. "I'm glad to be of assistance to somebody." Someone finally got something good from his pathetic excuse of a life. Ugh. His eyes stared at the cieling, empty and blank for a second before he sat up straight, a tired smile stretching across his face.
"Do you know how to do things like that?"
[12:30:33 AM] Jinx: "Not really. I've only been in here once before, when I was a kid," Verchiel said, dismissing the place in a disinterested voice. She'd already gotten what she wanted, after all. She was more interested in examining the male's face. She'd seen the blankness, however momentary it was, and could read the tiredness in the lines of his smile.
She frowned again, hands going to her hips. "You look awful," she said blunting, giving him a closer examination for more signs of exhaustion. Was this all cause he helped her?
[12:33:46 AM] Yushika: A laugh escaped his mouth. Blunt, wasn't she? His head rose, hands rubbing his forehead as he chuckled. "Do I?" He should try harder, perhaps. "Sorry. I guess I wasn't doing as well as I thought." He mused, voice soft and smooth, yet deep. "Don't worry, I won't get you sick." He added, glancing at his blank canvas before glancing once more at the beauty woman.
"That glow. It's rather curious. It's very pretty."
[12:37:10 AM] Jinx: Verchiel didn't let him sidetrack her with the comment; her glow was normal to her, and thus of no interest when she was stuck in an obsession. "You don't look sick awful, you look like you haven't been taking care of yourself awful." There was an accusing edge to her voice, not like she was mad at him but more like she was mad /for/ him. "Have you been eating properly and getting enough sleep? Mama and Papa are always getting on to us about stuff like that."
[12:42:12 AM] Jinx: ((Deities help poor Karoko now XD))
[12:42:45 AM] Yushika: (( LOL. ))
[12:42:49 AM] Yushika: (( Actually. He needs this! ))
[12:43:58 AM] Jinx: ((lol Well now that he helped her, she counts his as worth her attention. And now that she sees how tired he looks, all her possessive instincts are kicking in and attaching to him.))
[12:44:16 AM] Yushika: (( That's exactly what we wanted, right? <3 ))
[12:44:33 AM] Jinx: ((Yup XD))
[12:48:29 AM] Yushika: .... What. Wait. What? When did this become about him? Wait. Hold on. She was going too fast! Wait! He stared at her, eyes widening as she continued to speak. It was clear Karoko had never been spoken to this way. "What." Was all he managed out at first. Was this woman, this nameless woman, worrying about him? Instantly he rose his hands in defense, head shaking. "No no! It's okay! I'm fine!" What did one do when someone flipped the tables on them? He was always the one worrying over someone, and now here this strange woman came, demanding to know his status and the care he took for his body.
"I uhm." What does one say to someone like her? He just /knew/ she'd go after him if he didn't fess up. She was apparently sharp as a tac. So, with a sigh, the painter rested his face in his hands, his voice slightly muffled as he responded. "No. I haven't been eating properly."
[12:53:44 AM] Jinx: Verchiel nodded like she'd been expecting such an answer. "And sleep," she prodded mercilessly, not giving the male a chance to worm his way out of answering any of her questions. She gave the room a quick once around, brow furrowed a little in frustration; had there been any food she probably would have plucked it up and made the man eat right then and there.
Could she summon some? It was worth a shot. She cast her mind around for what she wanted in particular...
[12:56:22 AM] Yushika: "Wha wait." Karoko squeaked, startled by her prodding, trapped within the mental corner she had pushed him into. Then she began to make faces, his head tilting curiously. What an interesting expression on the beautiful face... dammit! He needed to stop prodding for painting material. It was getting cree-
THUMP.
He jumped, head snapping around as food spilled onto the ground. The hell?! Wait, was /she/ doing this? His head snapped around to look at her, eyes widening and hands raising. "Woah woah woah! Careful!"
[1:04:01 AM] Jinx: Verchiel gave the food a slightly satisfied look. That wasn't as hard as she thought it would be, though it certainly wasn't very classy or neat. Ah well, it would do for now. "I was being careful. None of it landed on you, after all," she said in matter-of-fact tones, taking her hands off her hips and walking forward to collect some of the bounty from the ground. It was way more than she'd intended to bring; she hoped it didn't come from anywhere that needed it.
She stood and walked towards the man, thrusting out hands filled with soft foods like fruits and fresh bread, easy to digest and healthy. She expression and body language radiated that she would brook no argument. "Eat. And you didn't answer my question about sleep."
[1:09:06 AM] Yushika: "That was a question?" Karoko questioned, staring at her hands holding soft foods. His own raised up, touching her finger tips gently. "It's alright." He promised. Wait. Would she force feed him? Oh. Oh wait. This bold woman probably would. Or guilt trip him. Or /something/. His eyes focused on her, canine teeth biting into his own lip. "What if I say..... I don't really.... sleep?"
[1:09:29 AM] Yushika: (( This is stupidly amusing. He's like "WAIT WHAT NO WAIT /I/ WORRY ABOUT PEOPLE. Not the other way- Oh god she won't take no for an answer. ))
[1:10:10 AM] Jinx: ((And she won't. Karoko's suspcions are not entirely unfounded XD))
[1:10:23 AM] Yushika: (( Lol! ))
[1:15:54 AM] Jinx: Verchiel physically grabbed the man's hands and dumped the food in them, neatly piling berries and and around the little rolls that had appeared with her silent request. Her expression was grimly determined, what her big brother called her "take no prisoners" face. Obviously food was getting into this man's body one way or the other, and she was giving him the option of the more pleasant ways first.
"Eat. Right now. It's really, really bad for you body if you haven't been eating or sleeping properly, and then you go around pushing yourself when you clearly aren't in good condition to start with. Either you've got a masochistic streak or you just haven't been listening to common sense recently." She placed her hands firmly on her hips and stood there, not budging an inch in her demands.
[1:24:19 AM] Jinx: ((Please do as she says Karoko. I'm scared to think of the lengths she'll go to to get you to comply > -> ))
[1:35:08 AM] Yushika: Karoko stared at her, head jerking backwards in a rather comedic fashion, almost falling right out of his chair. "Wah!" Came the screech as he managed to force his chair to stay up. He stared at her hands, blinking. She would not listen. He knew it! She was not a listener! Nor a follower! Still, as he viewed her now defiant stance he sighed lowly, pressing one tiny little berry into his mouth and chewing.
"There."
[1:35:12 AM] Yushika: (( THE WAR HAS BEGUN ))
[1:38:46 AM] Jinx: Verchiel's expression was not an amused one. "You don't have to eat all of that-," she said, gesturing behind her towards the pile of food without looking at it, "-but you'd better eat what's in your hands. It's not a lot, and if you've been starving your body it could probably use all that."
Funny how such soft, silverly eyes suddenly looked hard and tough as steel. "There are much less pleasant ways for that food to get inside you," she added, letting a bit of a warning slip into her voice; she was not going to budge on this, and the man would save himself a lot of trouble by complying.
[1:39:44 AM] Jinx: ((Is it wrong that I'm kinda hoping he'll give her an excuse about the food to try to get out of eating it XD? Cause her reactions will be....yeeeea.))
[1:40:52 AM] Jinx: ((*pretty sure she knows how this battle is going to end*))
[1:42:04 AM] Yushika: (( He's fairly stubborn! ))
[1:43:32 AM] Yushika: "You see." He began, suddenly looking up at her. "Since I haven't been taking care of myself my stomach has grown smaller. If I eat /all/ of this I will throw it up, and that defeats the purpose. I've also drank quite a bit before you came and my stomach probably cannot handle any more. If I eat more, I will lose both water and the food, and therefor I will be sick." With this he viewed her quietly, setting the food down.
[1:43:34 AM] Jinx: ((She's fairly crazy!))
[1:43:43 AM] Yushika: (( I love it! ))
[1:48:07 AM] Jinx: Verchiel picked up the bread and pressed it back into his hands. "If you've been drinking water then you can stand to loose some just this once if you do get sick," she retorted. "Your body needs /food/, and that single berry is a pathetic excuse of nutrition right now. If you're so worried you don't have room with all that water, which has /no/ nutritional value, then eat this bread. It'll absorb some of the water and sit better than berries."
[1:50:23 AM] Yushika: He frowned at her, suddenly splitting the bread. "Then share with me. Then I'll eat."
[1:54:14 AM] Jinx: "That's just a roll that doesn't even take up all the room in your palm," Verchiel countered. "I'll eat half, but then we have to go through these berries and split them as well." She gave the small pile he discarded a pointed glance with her eyes for emphasis.
[2:13:13 AM] Yushika: He smirked at her, head flipping hair from his eyes. Oh? So he got her to eat with him? How romantic. With a gentle smile that seemed slightly amused that someone was ordering him, he suddenly extended his hand. "I'm Karoko."
[2:17:06 AM] Jinx: "Verchiel," she responded, grasping the offered hand. She eye-balled the pieces of bread he was holding. "I'm not gonna start eating 'til you do," she stated; stubborness ran in the family, but her one-track nature was a bit her own. She fixed Karoko with her steely silver gaze. "I'm gonna make sure you don't wiggle out of taking proper care of your body," came one of her typically blunt comments.
[2:19:43 AM] Yushika: With a sigh and roll of the eyes, Karoko smirked at the fiery woman, taking the bread and splitting it, handing one half to her while he bit into his half. He grimaced at the taste, spine twitching as food forced its way down his throat and reminded him of it's existance. Food. Sleep. Actually taking care of himself, it was so foreign. Most nights he stared at the empty canvas, fingers twitching and slamming into paint and throwing it across the room of his home. Most nights were violent and lonely and /sad/. Yet, tonight he was here with Verchiel, a fiery beauty who was forcing food down his throat.
[2:20:48 AM] Jinx: ((Lovely story to tell the kids if they end up together XD))
[2:21:37 AM] Yushika: (( YUP ))
[2:25:54 AM] Jinx: Verchiel watched him hawk-like for the first couple bites, making sure he was properly eating the bread and not just chewing it or trying to hide it. Satisfied he was holding up his end of the bargain, Ver bit into her piece of bread and slowly chewed. She wasn't really hungry, having eaten once already today, but the break had a very nutty taste from the grains used in it and was quite tasty, so she ate without complaint. She did, however, continue to watch Karoko and made her bites exactly as large as his were.
"Why'd you let yourself get this way," she asked sternly when more than two thirds of his half of the roll was inside him, though she was going to make sure he finished the whole half. "You aren't /actually/ a masochist, are you?"
[2:37:59 AM] Yushika: Silence was her reward as suddenly he lowered his hand, no longer eating. Why? Why /that/ question? His hands trembled, head turning to view the side. "Ah. Just a change in state of mind. You know the usual." He seemed to be dodging the question. It shook him to the core. He constantly asked himself this, constantly, and yet it was far easier for him to ask himself. However, when another questioned him it shook. It broke. It only answered his own questions. Could anyone see? Did they notice?
Yes. They did.
"Ah. I'm not a masochist, I promise." A forced laugh escaped him, head shaking.
[2:46:40 AM] Jinx: "What kind of change, that you suddenly have a desire to fly and needed to crash diet," Verchiel snorted, though she didn't press the question beyond that. She was pretty sure she already knew what the answer was without having to press for details.
"Well pining gracefully and painlessly away into oblivion is only for silly stories. The real thing hurts a lot more. Maybe you better meet up with this changed state of mind and tell it to go jump off a cliff."
[2:48:05 AM] Yushika: He laughed, again, and viewed her. "Life isn't that simple." He responded, shrugging. "Telling this to jump off a cliff is not my place. This is my fault. I deserve the punishment." With this he stretched, cracking his back and shoulders quietly before deciding to taste a berry or two. "Verchiel, you are sweet for wondering, but it's quite alright."
[2:54:36 AM] Jinx: "No it's not," Verchiel huffed, gaze fierce as she glared at the fruit like they'd done her a personal wrong. "It is /not/ alright if you're not eating properly and not sleeping just because you think you "deserve" it. Unless you're a rapist or murderer of innocents no one deserves to slowly lose their health and sanity like that!"
She was now glaring at the fruit with such force that it was a wonder it didn't explode on the spot. "If you can't tell it to go dive off a cliff then I more than certainly will! Depression can take a nosedive off a cliff and land in a pile of sharp rocks before getting swept out to sea and eaten by sharks, and it would, too, if I had my way!"
[3:03:04 AM] Yushika: His eyes widened, purple orbs staring at the fierce silver eyed beauty in shock. Such anger for a stranger. Such fierce determination. It startled him, shocked him to his core that someone could care this fiercly and yet barely even know him longer than a few hours. Yet she was yelling, snarling and yelling at depression as if it understood him. As if she could just scream at it and make it stop.
And this was... funny. She was so cute, actually. Her anger was adorable, actually, and it caused a true laugh to escape him. A laugh that shook his thin frame and caused him to fold over, his raw throat chuckling as his head shook. He couldn't help it! She was just.... just.. ugh!
When he was done he looked up, tears in his eyes as he whiped them. "You're adorable." Was what he managed out first. "And thank you. Very much. For caring. It's not something I'm given much."
[3:09:50 AM] Jinx: Verchiel made a small noise in her throat and flapped a hand in gesture that was almost, but not quite, dismissive. "You cared enough about a stranger to help. You don't get exclusive rights to caring, you know." Said the woman who, more often than naught, tried to hog said rights to the point of being overbearing. Well, everyone had a few faults they were blind to.
She eyed Karoko shrewedly, abandoning her attempt to make fruit explode with her mind. "I doubt you've spent a lot of time around other people, too, if you've already been neglecting taking care of your body."
[10:35:20 PM] Yushika: Karoko viewed her, watching her hand briefly before his head turned away. People? When was the last time he even attempted socializing? Hell. He was a hermit these days. Anyway, before /her/ he didn't have friends, so why would that change now that /she/ was gone? Silly... Silly idiotic thoughts.
"I don't really have many people I can socialize with. So there's no one to really notice my habits. I don't mind, though."
[10:39:25 PM] Jinx: Verchiel gave a tiny node as though Karoko had confirmed a suspcion. "Well you can't really say you don't get much kindness from others then, if you haven't been hanging around others to /get/ kindness," she countered, picking up a berry and rolling it around in her fingers. "I mean you're a nice guy, if you actually socialized with others a bit you might realize I'm not all /that/ kind."
[10:42:29 PM] Yushika: "That isn't true." He answered, head turning to view the woman. "It's not fair to compare others. Even if I met other people I'd think you were nice. It isn't like I have never met people before. I know nice and I know mean. I know the basics. I find you kind, and that won't lessen even if I meet others. That's not how I am."
With this he turned back to the food, suddenly put off, again, by it. He pushed it away, his stomach briefly protesting before allowing him, accustomed to this behavior. He had not appetite, and now this topic was not helping in the least. "Perhaps you think I'm a nice guy. But I don't."
[10:45:16 PM] Jinx: "Oh," Verchiel asked, seizing on this new topic that Karoko had introduced. "You don't? And just what is it that you think you did that makes you a not-nice person?"
[10:48:19 PM] Yushika: Stiff. His muscles seized, head raising to view her. Of course. Why wouldn't she ask this? He had given her enough hints to lure her in, and his stupid brain had been unable to realize it. God damn him and his inability to just /think/ at times. With a shrug, the male focused on his blank hands before mumbling an answer. "I broke a serious promise to someone who needed me to keep it."
[10:52:31 PM] Jinx: Verchiel didn't prod about the specifics of the promise, not so much because it was obviously a sore spot (which she could tell it was) but because it didn't matter if she knew or not right now. If she really thought she'd needed to know the details, she'd have been blunt enough to ask. There was a reason the twin-tailed vixen didn't have many (if any at all!) friends.
"Well, did you /mean/ to break the promise," she asked, still playing with the berry, rolling it around between her pale fingers. "Did you make the promise with the intent to break it later down the line, or discover at some point that the promise you'd made was inconvenient to you during a current situation so you purposely broke it? Or did you unwillingly /have/ to break the promise because of circumstances beyond your control?"
[10:55:20 PM] Yushika: "I didn't mean to break it." He whispered, voice softening and lowering, becoming almost mute. "That isn't the point, though. I could have tried harder. I would have if I realized how long time had passed. I was stupid and foolish and thought I could make promises that would easily be kept. But I was an idiot, and ended up hurting her."
/Her/. Ugh. Why the hell had he done that? And then he met Yui and.... s**t. What the ******** was he? Why was he constantly screwing s**t up? His spine twitched briefly, suddenly letting out a dry laugh and shaking his head. "What a morbid topic. It's of little interest and hardly dinner conversation."
[11:03:15 PM] Jinx: "Well you're not exactly eating," Verchiel said, a slight hint of reproach in her expression as she looked at the abadoned bit of the half of roll he hadn't finished.
She held the berry up in front of her face, examining it, then let it drop back to the ground, drawing her knees up to her chest and letting her arms rest on them. "And that is also exactly the point. Could have tried harder. If it was an important promise to you I'm betting you tried as hard as you could at the time, so whether or not that was the best you can do /now/ is irrelivant to the past. /If/ you'd realized. Picking over "ifs" and and "should haves" are pointless cause you can't change the past. You /didn't/ know then what you do now, and it's not your fault. Hindsight is a b***h that lives to torment people."
Verchiel leveled one of her most stubborn gazes at Karoko. "Way I see it, none of that makes you a bad guy. Sometimes promises get broken no matter how much you fight to keep them whole. My parents almost broke a promise to each other, and it was cause of something /neither/ of them could predict would happen. Only reason it didn't break was cause of stubborn luck."
[11:09:00 PM] Yushika: He was mute as she spoke, head turning to rest on his hand as he simply listened. Even if she was right (and perhaps he admitted she sounded correct) it was hard to accept the truth and drop this year long sorrow he had become almost a fixed part of. It was hard to shake it loose and allow this strange woman to win. It was hard to just smile and click his tongue and act as if the past years were nothing. So, when she was done all she received at first was a gentle nod of the head. A sign he heard.
"Perhaps." He whispered. He was not completely shut down, but it was apparent only time and a stubborn hand would make him accept her words. His head tilted to view her, smiling gently. "Perhaps." He repeated, standing slowly, long limbs cracking loudly as he moved. Perhaps he felt a tiny flicker of hope. Perhaps he did. Perhaps she had helped, just a bit. Perhaps.
"Say. Do you ever visit the city, Verchiel?"
[11:12:22 PM] Jinx: Verchiel shook her head. "My family lives in the forest," she said, as if this pretty much explained everything. And to one even remotely familiar with the posessive/obsessive personality of the female, it /was/ all the explanation needed.
[11:15:47 PM] Yushika: Family. She mentioned it a lot. Constantly. A smile flickered across his face, nodding as he produced a card with writing on it, approaching her and extending his hand. "Here. Perhaps you'd like to show your family the city life sometime? I have an art studio, it'd be nice to see you and your family sometime." Was this too forward? Perhaps... but.... he didn't know what else to say? 'I want to see you again?' No. That was creepy. 'I'd like to paint you.' Also creepy. 'I need to be reminded of hope, so would you please stop by?' Ha. No. Was he finally going mad from the loneliness? Perhaps.
[11:22:16 PM] Jinx: Verchiel took the card and looked at it with a bit of doubt. She was fairly certain /neither/ of her parents had an interest in the city. Maybe her father would have if he hadn't ever met her "mother", but if Hugin wasn't with him now it was highly doubtful Vetis would go anywhere. Bes more than /certainly/ wouldn't want to go!
Verchiel mulled for a moment. No way she wanted to bring Elpis, girl was too popular for her own good! Pax might be alright, but aside from Papa he was the only one she considered "sensable" enough to watch the family when she wasn't there. And with Mama, Bes, and Elpis not coming, there was nooo way Papa could properly watch the lot of them....
Verchiel made a face at the conundrum rattling in her brain. "It would be easier if you had a studio in the forest," she complained, unable to see a way around a visit; it was either her family, or Karoko, as long as the male lived that far away.
[11:25:36 PM] Yushika: A soft laugh escaped him, head tilting. "I'm sorry. I do paint sometimes in the forest, but studio's often are often in towns or cities." Ah. Another face. He laughed, again, though it wasn't at her in general. "It seems I am always a hassle for the forest dwellers." He mused to himself. It was true. When was the last time he ever met a city dweller? It wasn't like he /minded/, it simply made visits harder.
"It's just a thought, if you ever had the free time. It's quite alright."
[11:27:47 PM] Jinx: Verchiel sighed. "Well that's alright. I'll just tell Papa he needs to build a studio for you so I can have you here and keep an eye on everyone. That or you need to get one of those magic mirrors somewhere in your city studio."
[11:30:19 PM] Yushika: His eyes widened, head tilting to view her curiously. To watch over him? Ah, he could watch over hi- Okay no. That was a lie, she had already pointed that out. A soft smile quirked across his features, head shaking at the mirror comment. "I wish, but it seems those kind of things only work in these special rooms." He paused, again, and trailed his fingers across one of his sleeves. "Do you have a phone, then? Not a celluar device, simply a house phone."
[11:33:30 PM] Jinx: Verchiel shook her head. "We don't have that kind of stuff," she said. "We live off the land." She shrugged. "Mama can't see and the rest of us don't really care about lighting. Plenty of wood for warmth and cooking. And lots of hunting and foraging to live off of. We've even got some water close by."
[11:46:08 PM] Yushika: "It sounds like a nice, quiet life." He had once loved the loud city, but now? Perhaps the forest was appealing. It seemed like a life he could enjoy. Maybe. He was a city man, afterall, did the forest even welcome his kind? With a mental shrug he returned his attention to the woman, nodding. He'd drop the subject of meeting at the studio for now. He didn't want to become someone associated with being a creep.
[11:47:49 PM] Jinx: Verchiel looked at Karoko curiously. "You think so? I always thought it was busy and kinda noisy sometimes." Her tails twitched on the floor behind her. "Do you spend much time in the forest at all?"
[11:50:41 PM] Yushika: "I used to." He glanced at her tails, his own twitching briefly before returning to his thoughts. "I once did, a lot. Now I just visit to paint when the feeling arises."
[11:52:45 PM] Jinx: Verchiel gave the lonesome canvas a brief glance. "So what were you going to paint in here?" She gave the room a look around, expression skeptical. "There's not really anything interesting about this place."
[11:54:03 PM] Yushika: "I paint from memory, sometimes. If I need to mule over things." He paused, head shaking as he glanced at the canvas with almost disgust. "I'm glad you came. I didn't want to paint. My muse is dead these days. I was hoping to try and create something to paint, but then you came and thankfully distracted me."
[11:56:17 PM] Jinx: "Why do you try if you don't want to," Verchiel asked, some of her skepticism leaking into her voice. "It doesn't sound like it would be any fun then." She couldn't imagine anyone could make anything they'd be happy with if they were unhappy with the process of making. But maybe artists just did things different. She didn't have a creative bone in her body, she was way too literal and straightforward.
[11:58:50 PM] Yushika: "It's the only thing I can do these days." He answered simply, viewing her as if that answer was the only one could expect of him. "I have to paint. I need to. If I don't I'm alone. At least with painting I feel something. Without it I just sit here and blankly stare at the wall. Sometimes I'll read. Sometimes I'll sleep. But I need to paint, had to ever since I was young. Except now it's an urgent, nagging need."
[12:00:31 AM] Jinx: "Maybe it would help if you could figure out what it is you want to paint," she commented. That seemed like the sensible thing to do. If you have a nagging urge that bad, cast around to figure how exactly what was causing it, cut to the root of it, take care of the urge, and then you didn't have that annoying little mental itch.
[12:03:48 AM] Yushika: "I know what my body wants me to paint. Just not what /I/ want." He paused, turning to look at her, a nervous flicker touching his face. "Actually." He paused, almost afraid to speak. This woman was kind to him, but he had no way of knowing whether or not she'd just glower and walk away if he requested this. Not everyone was comfortable being a model. Some found it down right creepy being stared at and painted. Urgh...
"Honestly. I haven't been able to paint anything but one thing, and even that is something I dislike and loathe to paint. But, you're very....mmm." He stopped mid-sentence, voice becoming a slight grunt as he looked away. "I'm not being creepy, okay? As a painter I view things differently. I view the world differently and want to capture what I find that sparks my muse. When you walked in that's what happened. I wanted to paint you."
[12:07:11 AM] Jinx: Verchiel's skepticism came back full force. "Me," she asked, looking down at herself and plucking at her shirt. The pale, silverly glow of her hand made the lilac markings on her glows seem to glow with a light of their own. "Why would you want to paint me? I'm not that interesting." Of course, coming from a family full over very physically strange folks, Verchiel's definition of normal wasn't normal in and of itself!
[12:09:51 AM] Yushika: 'You just are." He answered back, head tilting to the side. "Perhaps it's your glow. Maybe your silver eyes or tails. I don't know, but when you walked in I was curious. Then, you opened your mouth." He laughed gently, head shaking as he shrugged. "You're strong. I don't meet many strong women. I wanted to paint that side of you, or perhaps another side. It was just a thought I had, nothing more."
[12:11:25 AM] Jinx: Verchiel shrugged, clearly not getting it but also fine that she didn't understand. It just drove home her own point that she wasn't an artist.
"So go ahead," she said, raising an eyebrow. "Do I gotta sit still the whole time? Cause if I do, you'd better paint really fast!"
[12:12:43 AM] Yushika: "Eh?" Had she really agreed? He seemed both startled and confused, a grin crossing his face instantly. A true one. "Really?" He questioned, head tilting at her last comment and laughing. "And what if I don't?"
[12:15:06 AM] Jinx: Verchiel made a face at the male. "Then you're going to have to deal with only getting part of a picture done, cause I'm not gonna sit still all day long," she retorted. Not that she /couldn't/; if she put her mind to it, Verchiel could spend an entire day completely motionless. Usually when she was lying on someone to pin them down so they couldn't move. It had almost been a hobby of hers back when she'd been a child.
[12:17:31 AM] Yushika: "Aw, damn. I'll have to draw your outline and paint as much as possible before you move, then finish the background when you're gone." He seemed amused, and perhaps a bit happy. Maybe. Shh. "When should we do this? Now, maybe? Are you... are you sure?"
[12:20:47 AM] Jinx: Verchiel gave a very unlady-like snort. "What, it's just a picture of me. It's not like you're asking me to marry you or something." She gave her head a flick, tossing her bangs out of her face.
[12:23:42 AM] Yushika: "Why would I- ..... Okay. Okay, then, then stay there?" With this, the nervous painter rose and approached the canvas, beginning to mix colors as his eyes became a distant, almost blank expression as they viewed her, as if she was a math problem. He only hoped that at the end of the day she would like his work, or not glance at it and find the time she spent staying still a waste.
[12:25:45 AM] Jinx: Verchiel blinked. "What, like this," she asked, meaning her current posture. Knees drawn up with arms resting on them didn't feel like an inspired work of arm to her. Of course that probably meant it was; there seemed to be a lot of things opposite to her expectations in this hobby.
[12:27:20 AM] Yushika: "Yes. It's natural. I don't want you doing some idiotic pose you'd never perform unless someone told you to. I want natural. That's what drew me to you in the first place, why would I want to paint anything else?" He questioned, having finally finished mixing his colors (for now) and glancing towards her.
[12:29:13 AM] Jinx: Verchiel just hummed noncommitally under her breath. /That/ was the first thing he'd said that made sense to her all day! "Am I allowed to talk, or do I have to stay completely still," she asked.
[12:30:06 AM] Yushika: "You can speak all you want." He answered, picking up his pencil and beginning to sketch her form lightly. "Though, lets not have deep conversations like politics, eh?"
[12:33:08 AM] Jinx: Only at the last minute did Verchiel catch herself from making a face. Politics? Who the hell wanted to talk about politics?
Actually, for the moment she was content to sit in silence. She had to concentrate on being still when her hands wanted to fidget. The gentle scratching of pencil on canvas filled the silence, and Verchiel found her thoughts wandering back towards (surprise surprise) her family, wondering if they were still doing alright. It had to have been, heck, a whole hour since she'd last checked on them.
[12:33:58 AM] Yushika: (( Would you like me to time-skip to him being done, or? )
[12:34:35 AM] Jinx: ((Sure, since she's gonna be mulling over stuff for a bit until she gets too twitchy to sit still any more.))
[12:41:07 AM] Yushika: So, it had been awhile. How long? He wasn't sure. Long enough that he was impressed by her sitting still this long. His hands lowered, covered in paint, and gripped gently the sides of the canvas, peering at the half finished result. He was a good painter, but not in his own eyes. The painting almost looked identical to her, almost. Her glow was too bright, but he had never painted a glow before, so he wasn't used to doing so. Still, it was good. He wasn't done, the shading wasn't done and her lower half was not entirely painted, but he knew what to do from here. "You can move now. I can continue from here. Thank you."
[12:45:24 AM] Jinx: Verchiel let out a loud gust of air and flopped back on the ground, arms and legs sprawled out as she stretched. "That was starting to hurt," she complained mildly, feeling the welcome pangs as stiff muscles expanded, then the even more welcome well-being as they relaxed. "No wonder you painters have to work with scenery and non-living things all the time!"
[12:48:53 AM] Yushika: A laugh escaped him, grinning as she flopped over. Cute. "Not many living things can tolerate us." He mused with a smirk. "It seems you lived through my torture, though! Lucky me~"
[12:51:13 AM] Jinx: Verchiel blew a puff of air to get her bangs off her face again, turning her head to look at Karoko. "That means you own me." She crooked her finger imperiously, though the attitude was mostly jest; the demand wasn't. "Get over her and help me get these kinks out. You know how to do simple massage?"
[12:51:50 AM] Jinx: ((I feel like I'm being evil with that post, for some reason.))
[12:52:20 AM] Yushika: (( LOL POOR KARO ))
[12:54:29 AM] Yushika: "Wha- I.... painting... I...." A nervous flicker came across his face, glancing at the painting and then her. Swiftly, he rose, approaching her with a slightly nervous frown. "Are you sure me? I.... my hands are dirty and I don't want to ruin your clothes."
[12:55:50 AM] Jinx: Verchiel frowned, then her brow creased in concentration. Without warning a small pond appeared in the middle of the room, edged in sand and fine gravel. "There, you can scrub off in that," she said; obviously Karoko wasn't getting off the hook that easily.
[12:58:03 AM] Yushika: God damn, this girl just knew how to make Karoko obedient, didn't she? Still, it amused him, a proud smile crossing his face. "You're getting better already!" He purred, approaching the pond and dipping his hands in, slathering his hands in the water before approaching her. Nervously, large hands touched her back, head tilting as long hair dipped down his shoulders. "Hard?"

[8:17:18 PM] Yushika: She didn't care.
Maybe that was the first sign something was wrong. She always cried when upset, because she was honest. She always showed her pain, because she had a right to. Everyone did. Yet, not now. Not anymore. After Rendo she had started to believe it was wrong to show pain. She had three - six sons. She needed to be strong for them. She needed to hold herself high for both her children and her tribe. She was older now, mature, she needed to stop playing.
So when Hatsu left it stung, briefly, before Nuishan suddenly looked away and muttered that she didn't /care/. Everyone knew she did. Hikaru. Kaoru. Rush. They all knew. It was okay, they tried to tell her, to be sad. She told them and herself it wasn't. She believed it. /It wasn't okay/. She was a grown woman. She was beyond the childish, teenage, young ways of actions. She was older, and therefor needed to suck it up and deal.
But tonight she stole away from her tribe. For the first time since the "incident" she had decided to allow herself alone time. She didn't like to admit it was easier to forget if she just focused on her family and tribe. Today, perhaps, she'd let herself feel the pain. And so she had walked off, slipping onto a boulder and closing bright, amber eyes, allowing shoulder length hair to cover her eyes. Her arms curled around a tank top clad torso, her white pants with black straps and buckles clicking as she curled it against her stomach. Her leather knee high boots slipped against the rock briefly, but she let it.
She hadn't felt so cold in a long time. Now there was no one to wrap their arms around her and stop the harsh winds. Now she could feel the cold winter again.
[8:45:00 PM] Jinx: Raidon walked slowly through the night forest, the cool breeze blowing through the tree tops and lifting his bangs to brush against his cheeks. His hair was an oddity that puzzled people; it was a tri color mix of purple, blue, and black that fell in waves down to his waist. He always wore it bound up in a thick braid, as it was now. Most were under the impression that the blue and purple was simply dye, but they were actually natural colors. His bangs were decorated with strings of tiny colored beads and feathers.
His clothing gave him the look of a native, though a bit nicer dressed. His deerskin breeches and moccasins were dyed black and painted decoratively with fantastical swirls and dots in blue and purple, fringes and beading adding a touch more exotic. His chest was bare since his only top was an open vest of more dyed and decorated deerskin, showing off his own bronze flesh and toned body. Since the days had begun getting colder he had added a cape to his outfit to keep the chill off him.
It was a beautiful night, and Raidon was enjoying his walk. The forest was amazingly alive and loud at night, despite what daylight folks might think. He rounded a corner, and suddenly found himself in a tiny clearing with large rocks dotting the ground, and on one of those rocks perched a woman. He froze, unsure what to do about his sudden intrustion on what must have been a moment of desired privacy.
[10:28:05 PM] Yushika: She sensed someone, her head snapping around as the slim woman suddenly slid off the rock and landed on firm feet, standing up straight. Now one could see her completely. Short hair that kissed her shoulders and was always messy, bangs falling just above her eyelashes, strands curling towards her face. Bright amber eyes that basically SCREAMED against pale skin and dark clothes. A tank top that revealed her stomach. Yes. She was a mother, but was known for rocking the "punk" style, even as a mother and woman.
"Who are you?" Firm lips uttered, though she didn't seem hostile. Simply careful, wary, as if she was experienced in dealing with the foxes most would question. It was true. When one lived in her type of family it was expected for someone to react the way she did to strangers.
"Are you lost? You're near Lunarie land."
[10:42:09 PM] Jinx: Eyes that flashed a curious mix of blue and purple examined the woman carefully, then looked past her to the lands at her back. If it wasn’t for his eyes and the movement of his clothes and hair in the wind he could have been a dark statue. Finally he turned his gaze back to the woman, dressed in about as opposite as style as his as could be, though it was another couple moments before he spoke.
“Your pardon,” he said, deep bass voice rumbling across the space between them. “I was aware there was a tribe here, but not that I was so close. I did not mean to disturb your contemplation.”
[10:49:00 PM] Yushika: His deep voice was startling, perhaps because the men she knew did not have that tone. The last deep voiced men she had spoken to was Shai and Rush, and both boys were off doing something. Humor flickered behind amber eyes, pale fingers resting in the hoops of her pants, hips cocking to the side. "No harm done." She mused back, head shaking. Contemplation. Hell. She was happy he stopped it.
"Honestly, I'm glad you did. It wasn't going anywhere pretty, anyway. Might as well end it."
[11:01:15 PM] Jinx: Raidon greeted this statement too with another moment of silence before speaking, though not nearly as long as the first pause. “Dwelling on troubles does nothing to make one feel better,” he agreed, then added, “Unless one is thinking of a way to heal their troubles.” He fell silent again, hoping the woman didn’t think he was being an a** for offering his opinion. Some people were like that, and for all he knew whatever she’d been thinking about had a large impact on her.
“My name is Raidon,” he said carefully into the silence between them, hoping a show of manners might mend any breach he could have created in a thoughtless moment.
[11:11:04 PM] Yushika: "I quite agree." Nuishan answered back, and it was true. It was what she had been saying all along, and no one listened. This man was correct, and it almost made her smile at the thought that someone had proved her right. She /could/ exist without thinking of it. Dwelling. Everyone expected a certain reaction of her, all she could give was nothing. For she wanted to think of nothing. She wanted this all to be nothing.
His name was given and amber eyes blinked. "Nice to meet you, Raidon." Her fingers left her pants, raising to slide into her hair and play with the dark locks, sharp canines cutting into the inside of her cheek, stopping the first thought that started to form. Raidon sounded li- No. No Nui. She needed to stop. She was a grown a** woman.
"I'm Nuishan."
[11:21:30 PM] Jinx: Raidon did not /smile/ precisely, but the corners of his lips twitched briefly upward into a brief show of good humor that was his version of a smile. He had never been a very expressive man, and if people thought his stoic expression combined with his body meant he was all brawn and no brain, well more good to him. It served him well that others would underestimate him.
Well, now what did he do? It would be very rude to just walk away when he was the one who interrupted the woman. Nuishan, she’d called herself. Even if she had admitted that his interruption was probably a welcome thing. He didn’t know if it was safe to comment on what she had said since it might be seen as prying or meddling, and he’d never been much of a conversationalist for conversation’s sake. The wind stirred against his back, a definite bite to it, causing his braid to sway and the fringe on his blanket/cape to flutter.
“Is there anything that I might be able to do to help,” he finally offered diffidently. “A heavy weight is not so hard to bear, when there are others to share the burden with you.” He honestly had no idea if there was anything he /could/ do, and fully expected the woman, Nuishan, to say as much.
[11:28:08 PM] Yushika: She viewed Raidon, about to dismiss him. About. She stopped before she spoke, amber eyes flicking to view his form. He looked strong. Enough. Eyes flicking back up to view his, a smile flicked onto her face. "Yes, actually." She mused lightly. "The boys were whining about not having much to eat this winter. At least, not sweet things. Help me find some berries? Two eyes are better than none, and just last week I saw some. Deities know where, though."
[11:28:14 PM] Yushika: ( Short, sorry >w< )
[11:38:51 PM] Jinx: “Probably hiding among thorns,” he said solemnly. That was the way of most things worth eating, they were a challenge to obtain. He gave a mental sigh. Well, he did make the offer. Besides, what else was he going to do with his night? Berry-hunting still involved walking, and that’s all he’d been doing in the first place.
He went statue-still again as he ran through his mental list of what kind of berries they might be able to find. “Blackberries, perhaps. Cranberries, but they are not as sweet. If luck is with us, we may find a mulberry tree.” Mulberries were quite tasty, like a smaller and sweeter blackberry. They had a tendency to stain the skin with their juice. Birds adored the things.
He looked at Nuishan with his strange eyes, sapphire warring with amethyst. “Will you still be here upon my return?”
[11:43:03 PM | Edited 11:43:11 PM] Yushika: Ah? He would actually do it. Amused, she settled down onto her rock, legs drawing against her chest as her chin rested on her kness. "Yes." She answered, curiously peering at him. "You're a kind man." She added absently as suddenly a yawn overtook her. When was the last time she slept properly? She refused to believe she didn't sleep because of /him/. It was just insomnia, right? Maybe she was sick. Either way, she refused to believe and allow him to sink into her, refused to feel anything on the matter.
Yet, how long could she refuse?
Raidon stood so still when thinking, the woman almost was tempted to get up and poke him in the sides. Perhaps not, she wasn't sure how a stranger would react to a sudden jab. What was this man like when laughing? Was he ticklish? She always found the stiff kind so amusing, as if a challenge if she could manage to tickle or get a squeak from them. Right now she wasn't in the mood for play, though.
[11:53:01 PM] Jinx: Raidon nodded when Nuishan gave her answer, then paused for a moment, watching her. In an abrupt movement his pulled off his deerskin cloak, the beading chiming softly as the folds of soft, warm material moved. His revealed arms proved to be just as muscular as the rest of him hinted at. Another breeze moved through the air, yet he seemed perfectly comfortable in his attire despite the season. In another swiftly abrupt movement, just a few steps and a flick of the wrist, he had draped the warm skin around Nuishan’s shoulders.
“I shall return,” he promised solemnly in his rumbling voice, then turned and vanished silently into the trees like a ghost.
______________________________
Raidon was gone for about a mark before he moved back into the small clearing, coming as silently as he had gone. It was no special thing for most forest-dwelling foxes to move as such, though some expressed surprised that one his size could do so. In his hands he held another pouch that had been hanging empty at his side before, hidden by his cloak. Now the side bulged promisingly, the entire thing full of the results of his efforts.
[/[12/23/2012 11:59:19 PM] Yushika: Amber eyes widened at the kind motion, head raised and staring at the taller male as the skin lowered onto her shoulders, and for a second she caught a glimpse of his muscular frame. The skin settled and her head lowered, caught by the smell, and she inhaled the scent of the skin, smiling lightly. It smelled of animal, a relaxing scent, as strange as that was. She /did/ sleep in a bed of animal skins, after all.
The promise hung in the air as he left and she glanced up to see emptiness, eyes curiously peering out at the night as the strange, new man vanished into the night.
---------------------
She hadn't meant to fall asleep. When Raidon returned he'd find a slim woman curled on the cold rock, hands gripping the skin over her shoulders and legs curling as close into the skin as possible. Hair covered the side of her face exposed, strands by her mouth swaying as her gentle breath escaped. She looked, if one could see her face, almost like a child, gripping the skin as if it was the only thing keeping her peacefully asleep. Body curled into herself as if to protect her of what could hurt and break. Her eyelids flickered, her mouth becoming a frown, and her body twitched and became a tighter ball around the skin, almost creating a pocket by her stomach where the skin folded and curved in a bowl shape.
[12:10:58 AM] Jinx: Raidon stared speculatively at the lump curled up underneath his cloak. Either the woman hadn’t heard him approach, or she was asleep. Either was a possibility at this point. He wasn’t sure what the protocol was for this kind of situation. Obviously calling to her to see if she was awake didn’t cross his mind. He walked closer to Nuishan, this time purposely making noise with his steps to see if she responded.
He’d have to think of something else if she was truly asleep. It would probably be rude to wake her if she clearly needed the rest, but sleeping on cold rock with a single skin wasn’t good for a person. Since he was a total stranger it wasn’t like he could take her to her home or his. It would have been rude just to pick her up while she was still asleep, without getting any kind of permission first!
[12:11:58 AM] Yushika: (( This is amusing. ))
[12:12:14 AM] Yushika: (( "What do I do" nope not gonna even try and help Raidon. Lets make this as awkward as possible for him. ))
[12:15:05 AM] Jinx: ((....Evil woman))
((XD))
[12:15:12 AM] Yushika: (( You love it. ))
[12:15:25 AM] Jinx: ((I knooow. So you gonna take a skip and I post again?))
[12:15:46 AM] Yushika: (( NAH. Lets make Nuishan roll nearly off the rock. ))
[12:16:03 AM] Yushika: (( -torments Raidon- ))
[12:18:00 AM] Yushika: The woman wasn't known for moving in her sleep, but when one has plenty of stress in their life and little to do to relax perhaps having flail fits in your sleep was expected. Or at least acceptable. So, with a movement that almost seemed as if on purpose, her body fluidly rolled, threating to roll right off the rock as the skin left her form, trailing off her bare stomach and sliding to its lonesome.
[12:26:40 AM] Jinx: Raidon didn’t actually start in surprise, but the widening of his eyes was about the equivalent for him. He lurched forward with a hand outstretched, but hesitated to actually touch Nuishan. Thankfully she stopped before she rolled off the rock altogether, and Raidon heaved an imperceptible sigh of relief. He stooped down in a single fluid movement to pick his cloak up off the ground before circling the rock to get in a better position closer to Nuishan.
He stared down at the woman’s sleeping face, her brow furrowed like she was uneasy in her unconsciousness. Still he hesitated, not sure what to do. It was a slight shiver on her part that decided him. “Lady,” he said softly, cautiously reaching out a hand to grip her shoulder and give it a single, light shake. “Lady, you should not sleep upon the rocks in winter. They steal heat from the body, and you would be horribly stiff when you awoke.” He wasn’t even sure if she was conscious enough to understand what he was saying at the moment.
[12:26:57 AM] Yushika: (( "Lady." He's so cute. ))
[12:27:35 AM] Jinx: ((lol He's adorably awkward sometimes, so he resorts to manners.))
[12:27:36 AM] Yushika: (( Oh my god he's so cute. ))
[12:37:49 AM] Yushika: She did not wake.
She was too far gone. Too far lost to the dreams. Now she knew why she didn't sleep. She saw /this/. Images of Rendo. His warm, hot hands drifting across hers, slipping under her shirt and grasping her waist, pulling her in as he breathed in her scent. Images of when she was pregnant and his stupid crooked smile returned and warm hands would stroke her stomach, and she felt so very proud. Proud to be his. Proud to be giving birth to /his/ babies. So happy. So young and happy. So alive. He loved her. He protected her from /him/, Sin. He had stopped her own brother from slitting her throat. She remembered that day far too well. The hot anger in her brothers eyes, his strong hands reaching and grasping, reading to rip and cut and snap. Yet, Rendo had saved her. He had curled her small, young, trembling body into his strong, broad chest, and she had been okay.
Then he left, and then she was /NOT/ okay.
She had abandoned her children. The ones that he left with her, at least.. They cried and wailed and she covered her hands and screamed into herself. She had shut down. She had allowed herself to feel vulnerable and weak and broken. Like a cheap whore left when children were produced. By the time she came around her children were old enough to say "Mama". Old enough to know she didn't want them. But young enough to forgive their trembling, foolish, young mother when she scooped them up and begged them to forgive her.
She had been so young.
Then Hatsu came. He kissed her scarred hands and brushed a smooth face against her neck, placing soft kisses that were no where as intense as her previous lovers, but were kind and comforting. He wooed her, and at that time she wanted him. He was so old fashioned. Gentle. A skinny boy barely a man who fell for the older woman, and she had foolishly fallen for it. She had trusted that rainbow haired fool, and she had been tricked again. For she lost him, too. She lost him and she was reminded again she had nothing to rely on except her tribe and children. She gave up. Love was pointless. She was not a wife. She was meant to be a mother and tribe member, nothing else.
So why, when her eyes finally opened, did tears fall? Why did she rub away wet streaks? Why did strong amber eyes look so young and frightened again?
She blamed it on being sick. Nothing more.
"Ah." She mumured as she rose, bare hands placed against the stone as her red face glanced around, then focused on Raidon. Despite the pain she obliviously showed, a wide grin crossed her face, hand reaching up and poking the mans cheek. "You came back~"
[12:51:18 AM] Jinx: Raidon had been standing and trying to figure out what to do with Nuishan, whether to attempt to tuck his cloak around her and let her sleep longer or try a more vigorous method of waking her up, all while making sure she didn’t have another flailing fit that toppled her /off/ the rock this time. He had just about convinced himself to go with the wake-up strategy, rude as it might be, because she didn’t look like her sleep was any kind of restful at /all/, when those eyes the color of sun amber opened up on their own accord. And they glistened with tears.
Raidon didn’t even think, he just reacted. He reached out a hand and lightly stroked her hair, like he did for his siblings in the rare moments when they were also upset and needed comfort. He nodded at Nuishan’s statement, and though concern outweighed amusement he managed one of his lip twitch equivalents of a smile when she poked him in the cheek. That too, was familiar to him, and put him enough at ease that he felt no shame in grabbing the hand before it could fall away and using his thumb to rub her palm, another offer of comfort.
“I promised I would return,” he said simply, finally withdrawing both his hands before they stopped being comforting and turned into an overstep in boundaries. Instead he reached down and unfastened the pouch at his waist and held it up for Nuishan to see, gaze solemn. “I was able to find what you requested. I hope it is to the tastes of your boys.”
[12:53:09 AM] Yushika: (( ...... 0 ^ 0 ))
[12:53:25 AM] Yushika: (( Mother ******** I get attached way too quickly to our RPs what is this sentimental moment. ))
[12:54:25 AM] Jinx: ((XD It's my superpower.))
[12:55:55 AM] Yushika: (( .... MEH. ))
[12:56:04 AM] Yushika: (( One last post. Then bed for me. But I like Raidon. ))
[1:02:02 AM] Yushika: His hand raised and by instinct she flinched, eyes narrowing as a hand stroked her hair. Amber eyes widened, startled, and she focused on him, stiff. The touch was comforting and his hands were strong. Not only that, but the strength was comforting her, even if they just met, and once for a split second she felt like that foolish, young, innocent girl who only wanted that. Comfort. His lip twitch made her forget the reasons for her tears, briefly, and her smile remained, even when his hand touched hers and a thumb pleasantly calmed her once pounding and broken heart.
The hands left and Nuishan wondered if she had become less of the strong woman she kept telling herself she had to be. She didn't care right now. She was lost in this feeling of comfort and play. When was the last time she just let herself relax? This man was allowing her, and he was kind for the most part. And he seemed safe, if a bit awkward, which was endearing in a way.
He moved and held the pouch up, head hands raising to touch it. "Thank you very much. I'm sure they'll be delighted." And her smile widened, fondly, as she thought of the twins happy grins and how she'd scold them for not saving any for Rush, in which they'd simply link arms and prattle on about how it was Rush's fault for being absent.
[1:03:15 AM] Jinx: ((I'm probably going to be up for another hour, so you'll probably see a reply when you get back on.))
[1:04:10 AM] Yushika: (( -smiles-
[1:04:17 AM] Yushika: (( What do you think so far? ))
[1:04:34 AM] Yushika: (( -likes to know how you feel. is annoying lalalla - ))
[1:06:33 AM] Jinx: ((I think it's interesting so far : ) Raidon seems to be getting along with her. I'm thinking he's going to try justifying any further interest in a purly platonic/sibling fashion, so if it goes romantic it's going to be an interesting epiphany.))
[1:08:03 AM] Yushika: (( What if she started inviting him over and he would just wander to see her and the kids and such? And eventually the twins just come over and snap "Look we like you but you're ******** dumb. You act like mates. Just be mates." Then later drop a bucket of water on him and call him gross if he mates with Nui. ))
[1:08:39 AM] Jinx: ((He'd pick them up and toss them in a lake in revenge XD))
[1:09:08 AM] Yushika: (( RAIDON. I LIKE YOU. A LOT. ))
[1:09:47 AM] Jinx: ((XD Don't mess with Rai guys, he's buff and willing to give as good as he gets!))
[1:10:07 AM] Yushika: (( Yes. Please. They so need that ))
[1:10:12 AM] Yushika: (( But then ))
[1:10:18 AM] Yushika: (( They'd see it as a challenge ))
[1:10:22 AM] Yushika: (( And just keep doing things ))
[1:10:32 AM] Yushika: (( All the while Nuishan is horrorfied. ))
[1:12:00 AM] Jinx: ((XD Well what he lacks in creativity he makes up for in shock factor when he actually /does/ something like that.))
[1:12:45 AM] Yushika: (( -bites bottom lip- Now I hope this works ))
[1:13:14 AM] Jinx: ((Same. Oh, you want me to word my reply in a way that we keep the scene up or I just end it for now and we can start a new one later?))
[1:14:52 AM] Yushika: (( We can end it now so we can start something new later, since I'm dipping anyway! ))
[1:17:14 AM] Jinx: Raidon nodded, seeming pleased. He set the pouch down in her lap. “You may keep this,” he said, meaning the pouch. It was a simple thing, also made of cured skin, but with no dye or adornments whatsoever. It was a newer one he hadn’t gotten around to decorating, but his old one back in his den would suffice fine for now.
He cast a multi-colored gaze up at the sky, staring speculatively for a moment. “I apologize for my abruptness, but it is time for me to leave,” he said, returned his stare back to Nuishan. “Perhaps we might meet some day again Lady. Though I do not wish to aggravate a tribe, I venture near this land often.” He gave her a polite node and a slight tilt of the head, then turned and walked away into the trees, braid brushing against his back as his bangs and feather ornaments swayed in the breeze.

[7:04:51 PM] Jinx: The darkened room pulsed with color and flashing lights that beamed from the ceiling, sweeping over the room packed with moving, writhing bodies. Music blared so loud through the speakers it was a challenge to make yourself heard, but it wasn’t a problem since words weren’t needed when you were on the dance floor. The only place where conversation might have even been remotely possible was at the bar on the second story. You could see it from the dance floor, neon lights blaring on the walls and lighting up the stacked bottles, trailing down the walls next to the stairs so you could find your way up. There were many people leaning on the high rail, looking out over the floor at the dancers below.
Among all the bodies one woman still managed to stand out. Her shaggy-layered hair fell freely down to her elbows, her bangs held back from her face in a tail. Streaks of bright color were scattered throughout the black. Green eyes blazed brightly from a pale face that was full of energy and life. Her outfit showed off more of her skin than it covered, with a pale blue mini skirt covered in white tiger stripes and a skimpy top that was barely a step above a bra, stripped in light blue, yellow, and orange. She had on boots that screamed with bright colors of orange and yellow, partially hidden under fluffy leg warmers that were stripped in green, yellow, and red.
She danced with enthusiasm that never seemed to run out and left others gasping in her wake. Though quite a beauty, her bizarre appearance seemed to make others hesitant to approach. Finally though even she needed a break. With a grin and a wave over her shoulder at her current partner she excused herself and headed towards the stairs for the bar above.
[7:19:05 PM] Yushika: She blamed Dior.
Of all the stupid ideas, of all the idiotic things, this was the worse. "Come dance." He had cooed, and she had offered a violent sneer in return. However, Iumi loved her brother, and therefor, when he threatened to go on his own in a dangerous city she accompanied him. She watched her darker haired brother slip within the crowds, his brillant blue eyes flicking over at times to attempt to usher her over. She refused, of course, and the girl simply ordered another drink while he danced.
She was pale, abnormally so, and to anyone of her species they could almost see /through/ her. It was unnerving, and made her feel anxious. She was strange, she knew it, and the womans wings fluttered briefly, hidden under magic, unless she wished the humans to panic, and she didn't. Strange blue hair, almost as if it was dyed, pooled over her shoulders, cascading down to her hips. She had it tied loosely back in the middle, a few smaller strands framing her face, strands by the ears pulled back and tied at the base. She had straight hair, though it seemed she attempted to make it wavey for the evening. Perhaps. Blue eyes, the same shade as her brothers, glared at the men that glanced over, deciding with a scowl she was not amused.
She was not dressed for a bar. She was not dressed for anything fun, actually, sporting a simple poision green shirt with long sleeves and black pants. She did not care to frolick with the drunkards, and she ignored the several attempts at flirting from the humans. It was clear the woman was, thoug beautiful, cold as snow. She did not care, and she was not ashamed to admit it.
[7:34:08 PM] Jinx: Evari got to the upper level and slid into a bar stool, ordering one of their brightly-colored specialty drinks. As soon as it arrived she took it up in her hands, sipping on it while she spun around on the stool and watching all the people around her. A really interesting-looking male, another fox if she was correct, went by, but he was intent on the dance floor and Evari wasn’t ready to move just yet. She finished her drink and set it back down on the counter, wiggling around on the barstool to try and get a look at all the people sitting at the bar.
A flash of really bright green, the flash of a curve of something that all but vanished in the darkened room, caught her eye. She actually had to lean back to fully see the person, staring shamelessly and not caring who caught her at it. The person looked like another fox and had the most amazing kind of transparency about her. She looked a tad grumpy and wasn’t dressed like she’d had an evening at the club in mind, but her outfit wasn’t all that out of place either. She was totally gorgeous and /completely/ interesting to the vivacious female!
Evari sprung up from her seat and instantly made a bee-line for the woman, weaving through the crowd until she popped up just at the woman’s left shoulder. “Oh my gosh girl, you are sooo gorgeous! I am totally jealous!” Up close the transparency was even more beautiful, especially those gracefully curving wings that did indeed signify her as a fox. “How do you do that?” Bright green eyes peered up in an excited face. “Oh, we have /got/ to dance! There’s no way I can meet a hottie like you and /not/ dance!”
[7:34:31 PM] Jinx: ((*crosses fingers*))
[7:35:08 PM] Yushika: (( For? ))
[7:35:12 PM] Yushika: (( OH GOD EVARI. ))
[7:35:52 PM] Jinx: ((This is the critical point of their interaction and whether they might or might not work as a couple. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for the best XD))
[7:40:18 PM] Yushika: Now. Please wait a second while Iumi considered literally setting this person on fire.
One. Two. Good.
She didn't. Her eyes hauntingly glaring at the woman who had just approached. At first, she assumed this was a bad joke. Who even spoke that way? Then, she noticed the girl was eying her wings, briefly, and the woman used a transparent hand to brush hair back, eyes becoming merely slits as it was obvious, shamelessly so, that she was judging. This woman was of her species. Bright green eyes seemed to receive only sullen blue glares, and briefly, Iumi considered leaving.
Why was she so mad?
She felt like she was being mocked. She did not like this woman, for she did not trust the compliments were genuine. However, it was the mention of dance that caught her offguard, eyes widening briefly, before suddenly she scowled back, lips becoming a frown. First, this woman was mocking her, and then wanted a dance? Why the.... the nerve! "Who are you." It wasn't a question. It was more like a cold statement hinting at: "Whoever you are, you need to go." Instead, she masked it with a common question. Her hand flipped brillant blue hair back, and blue eyes narrowed, again.
"I do not like being mocked." She added, hand flicking. "Find my brother, he's more amused by it." With this, she folded her arms. However, it seemed she caught Dior's glance, sharp canine teeth digging into soft skin as she glared right back. He was clearly mouthing: "JUST DANCE". Nope. No. Iumi was here to drink, thank you very much. Not to be mocked by strangely vibrant women with the strangest, chic-flick like way of speaking.
[7:40:30 PM] Yushika: (( Evari. Keep complimenting her. It'll make her flustered. ))
[7:55:53 PM] Jinx: Evari blinked, looking confused, then her mouth went into a wide O. “Oh gosh, I’m sorry! I should totally have introduced myself! I’m Evari!” She beamed at the woman; next to her sullen glare, Evari practically sparkled with her enthusiasm. “And I totally wasn’t mocking you, you are seriously gorgeous!” Green eyes lingered over the pale skin, admiring the woman’s complexion and the way it lit up as the colors from the lights danced over it. “I mean your skin is just flawless and the colors of your clothes work perfectly! And your wings!” Evari’s eyes traced over the delicate-looking limbs and she practically vibrated with energy.
“They’re amazing! I totally wish I had something like that that could catch the lights and shine! All I’ve got are these.” She flicked her hand down to nudge some glowsticks attached to a string that was tied to her skirt. She bounced a little on the balls of her feet. “Come on, just one dance,” she wheedled.
[8:00:38 PM] Yushika: Now, Iumi would have seriously turned her back if the girl, Evari, hadn't touched her wings. Twitching them away, blue eyes widened in absolute shock. "Don't-" But no, no response. She folded them flat against her back, and then she realized the other had continued to compliment her. Pale skin turned a faint pink around her cheeks, for unlike the humans these compliments actually /mattered/. Humans did not see her transparent nature, and this girl did, and she was complimenting her.
"Don't-" Her scowl returned, wings twitching slightly. What was she to say back? Suddenly, a little less hostile then before but still cold, she turned her back on Evari. "I don't dance." She managed, stern and cold.
[8:07:09 PM] Jinx: Evari grinned and seized the woman’s hand, giving it an insistent tug towards the stairs to the dance floor. “Don’t worry, it’s not hard at all. I’ll totally teach you how, there’s no wrong way to dance.” Her grin widened a little, eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. “We will totally be the hottest dancers on the floor!"
[8:09:51 PM] Yushika: Iumi squeaked, yes, /she squeaked/, when she was pulled out of her stool and wrenched onto the dance floor. She was almost bewildered, awkwardly following the woman and tensing up completely, shoulders nearly to her ears and she made sure to stay as stiff as possible, maybe make this woman give up. "I don't dance." She repeated, and her awkward stance probably proved it. "Dance with my brother."
[8:22:11 PM] Jinx: Evari threw a pout over her shoulder at the woman as she led her down the stairs, still holding onto one of her hands. “I don’t want to dance with your brother, I want to dance with you!” The pair reached the dance floor, already garnering some admiring glances from the males standing around. She wove them gracefully through part of the crowd until they reached a vaguely clear space where she turned around to face the woman.
“Okay, this kind of dancing is really simple. All you have to do is listen to the music and move your body to it in the way that it feels like moving. There’s no form and no wrong way to do all. All you have to do is move.” Evari grinned as the vibrations from the music thrummed through her bones. Still holding onto the woman’s hand she made a sort of sweeping motion with her hips like that part of her body was pulling her along, then lifted the hand and twirled underneath it before letting it go and launching into a style that was like a mix of graceful swaying and spastic wiggling.
[8:22:47 PM] Jinx: ((I find it hilarious that Evari, into dancing and song, is played by me, who is not. Iumi, who is not into dancing and song, is play by you, who is.))
[8:23:08 PM] Jinx: ((You're the Evari to my Iumi XD))
[8:23:29 PM] Yushika: (( ..... Actually. I am your Evari. Wow. ))
[8:23:47 PM] Jinx: ((I know, right XD))

[10:00:54 PM] Nasaiki: A young man of about twenty-three looking walks out into the sparse patch of grass. He has silky yet slightly tussled black hair that falls down to his shoulders. A very pale yet still with some hint of peach complexion accents his hair and his eyes are a very vibrant orange like gold. He’s wearing a formal Dark navy blue shirt with a dark purple vest, a light purple almost periwinkle tie completes the picture. However a silver gothic cross silver rose earings and hoops in his ears and two silver rings on each of his hands on the index and ring ringer ruin the formal look.
Looking around The man brushes his hair behind his ears to search for his long time friend. “Damn it, where is Morin when you need the little b*****d” He shook his head wondering if the whole trip was rather a waste of time. He would so strangle Xi lan, if his younger brother had sent him all the way out here to ‘socialize’ and said target was no where in sight.
[10:23:22 PM] Jinx: "Excuse me," came a polite voice from the quiet of the room. A young woman stepped forward, perhaps in her late teens. She had straight lavender hair that went down to her waist, with feathered bangs that, at their longest point, reached her shoulders and at the shortest point reached her chin, framing a delicate face. Large, golden eyes were made brighter by her hair and by her porcelain skin, and only added to the aura of gentleness she gave off.
She wore a flowy white shirt with long sleeves in a fall-off-the-shoulders style. Underneath that she wore a black tank top, clearly seen through the semi-translucent matieral of her shirt even without the shoulder straps to let you know it was there. She also wore a knee-length, ruffle skirt, the layers alternating between black and a deep maroon. The dark colors made her pale skin seem that much paler.
She approached the man, head held straight but eyes holding a polite curiousity. "You're looking for Morin?"
[10:36:53 PM] Nasaiki: The male slowly turned around to look at the girl and a flash of familiarity passed through his eyes. He had seen her once before much younger and from a distance as he talked with Morin. He was pretty sure he was one of the Daughters that always seem to give his good friend white hair before his time. She had obviously grown up like expected since he had last seen her.
Well if his hunch was right and this was one of the four girls he should probably stop calling Morin a b*****d. “Yeah something like that” he sighed taking his hand out of his hair. It was a moot point in trying to get it to behave. “However if he’s busy I don’t really need to find him for anything important.”
[10:46:03 PM] Jinx: The girl gave the man a kind smile, though knowing sparkled in her eyes. "Father is almost always busy. Between scouting for his tribe and visiting his family, all of whom seem to live as far away from each other as possible-," she added with a hint of amusement, "-I fear one day he will simply drop from the sky from lack of sleep."
She let out a soft, nearly inperceptable sigh, expression worried, then schooled her features back into calm politeness as she looked back at the man. "Won't you sit with me for a spell? I know I'm probably not who you came to see, but I would welcome coversation if it's not inconvient for you. My name is Isra." She held out her hand, still maintaining eye contact with a stirring of curiousity behind the gold.
[10:58:19 PM] Nasaiki: He let out a small snort before shaking his head. It did sound like the rascal. Of course ethics and family where something that was defined similarly in all the friends. Perhaps why they had stayed for the most part together after disbanding to see the world. “Oh don’t worry about him, he might not look like it but he knows for the most part when to take care of himself. If he didn’t think he could do it he’d give his tribe the heads up and ignore them for a while.” He replied.
He looked over towards the girl and wondered what the harm in staying for a while would be, Xi lan had just instructed him to go socialize, he didn’t exactly say it had to be Morin. It was just he got along with the silver haired male the best. “yeah I guess I could stay around for a while, I don’t have anything too pressing to do” he answered taking her hand. It seemed small and delicate compared to his own, which was slightly bigger than average. “Meris, I’m Meris”
[11:12:02 PM] Jinx: Isra gave Meris a polite smile, softly squeezing his hand rather than shaking it, as was her preference. "Meris. I believe I've heard your name before." Through her polite mask her eyes held amusement. "I believe my sisters learned most of their creative language listening to Father rant to Mother about how friends and distant family were getting on. I was possibly the only one who never evesdropped, but my sisters always insisted on sharing what they learned with me."
She shook her head with fond exasperation, feeling a small pang of lonliness. It had been awhile since she'd last seen parts of her family, and even longer since she'd really gotten to talk with any of them.
Belatedly she realized she was still holding Meris' hand. Rather than drop it she lightly tugged and twisted herself so that her arm was tucked around his, like he was formally escorting her somewhere. She stepped forward, applying light pressure as an indicator she wanted Meris to walk with her. "It sounds like you've known father for a long time. How did you happen to meet him?"
[5/29/2012 11:46:29 PM] Nasaiki: Meris smiled a slightly evil tone flittering over his features before they crossed back to neutral. “Yeah that sounds like your old man, we might be a very close knit group of friends but we can drive each other insane after awhile” Meris agreed thinking of the last encounter before the girls had been born where they had been stuck at Meris’s house for months because his grandfather just didn’t know when to quit. “Although Morin say some creative and colorful things when he thinks no one is paying attention.” Meris raised an eyebrow at the fact his hand was still being held and then turned into an escort position however it was perfectly fine with him if she wanted to walk that way. He had been drilled to often treat ladies with a gentlemanly attitude. “Hmm that’s a rather long and sad story for perhaps a later time however I suppose I could give you the short version. Your great uncle Haruka had connections with my Grandfather, although considering the old coot hated Phims I have no idea how it came to pass. However when it was certain he and his wife and your grandparents had passed on my grandfather took the Kaname and Morin into his household. We were never really close as they where with my younger brother however over the years we tolerated each other enough for a sort of camaraderie I guess” he answered.
[12:01:58 AM] Jinx: A tiny frown-wrinkle creased Isra's brow. "Father never talks much about the past," she remarked, turning her face away to look at nothing in particualr and idlely smoothing the hem of her white shirt with her free hand. "Mother either. Not to any of us, at least. I suppose everyone has their secrets." She quietly exhaled through her nose and turned her face back to look at Meris.
"What about you? A life founded in secrecy as well?" Her eyebrows lifted curiously.
[12:08:50 AM] Nasaiki: “No, he isn’t one to dwell on whats already come and gone. It wasn’t exactly all roses and sunshine growing up. Plus he really didn’t have an easy time as a kit, he doesn’t like reminders I suppose.” Meris mused not going any deeper as it was the other male’s choice to tell his daughter what he wanted. “Perhaps he thinks you’ll think of him differently. As for your mother, everyone has scars they don’t like to share. Those who don’t are either lucky, boring, or lying to you” “Why suddenly interested in my life story?” Meris teased in a blunt tone before turning to face the path ahead. “Nah, not really. You want to know it I’ll tell you some day if we’re still acquainted then.”
[12:23:58 AM] Jinx: "Why not now," Isra asked matter-of-factly, though trying to keep her face and tone polite so it didn't seem like she was pushing or prying. "It is not as though I lack interest, or have elsewhere to be."
The corner of her mouth lifted in a crooked, amused smile. "I would offer a trade of information, but there's not really anything in my life worth telling. No grand adventures, no horrible secrets. I believe under your qualifications I would be labeled as the boring type."
[12:30:21 AM] Nasaiki: Meris laughed and shook his head. “Well normally one doesn’t give their whole life stories to strangers. Actually I take that back, I’m not the type to give it out to strangers. I could give off the condensed version like I did with your father’s story. However I get the feeling that would be less than satisfactory to you.” Meris replied.
Meris gave off a weak hearted scoff as he regarded her last statement. “I wouldn’t say boring or sell your self just quite yet. It’s good that you haven’t gone through the stuff your parents have, but also you’re quite young compared to some modifoxes. Give enough time and I’m sure you’ll have your own stories to tell.”
[12:52:41 AM] Jinx: "I've been called overly-curious before," Isra said, nodding in a knowing way. "Mother said since I was the only one not constantly misbehaving I had to find some other way to cause mischief. Poking my nose into perverbial trouble rather than actual trouble, I suppose."
She laughed quietly. "Well, I suppose persistance isn't the worst hallmark one could have. And I would still like to hear as much of your story as you're willing to share." She gave Meris a charming smile.
[1:59:58 AM] Nasaiki: “Well that can be just as dangerous some times I suppose” Meris replied and then shook his head. Of course since they where all related to Morin there was no way the need for mischief didn’t surface in some way. He didn’t know too much about Faiza, Morin’s mate but if she had any inclination the children where to lead doomed lives. “Well I was born the eldest son out of a two kit litter. However before I was barely out of my Bcr, my parents died for their unique relationship. One was a daeva and the other a phim. Of course my grandfather a proud and phim hating daeva was the one to take us in. However if he was going to have to deal with phims he was basically going to make them Daeva’s in disguise. He started grooming us for that role. Then your dad showed up and helped Xi lan from such a fate. I wasn’t that lucky. However when we decided to run away grandfather was having non of that so he keeps sending different guys to bring us home. Other than that not too exciting” Meris pointed out giving her the condensed verision.

jinxgirl5: Cat crouched down in front of one of her herb gardens, humming softly under her breath with her hands buried in soft, warm earth, pulling weeds from the ground clustered around her rosemary and thyme. She looked up from her work to gaze fondly at the little cottage she now called home. It was a tidy little thing, made of whitewashed stone with a thatched roof. When she first saw it Cat had been surprised at a roof made out of what looked like straw, but it was surprisingly easy to maintain and sufficiently weather-proof for the area. Over time she had even become fond of it, its beautiful golden color lending a charming and rustic feeling to the dwelling.
Catalina herself was something of an odd sight; no one looking at her would think she lived in such a quaint dwelling. She was covered head to toe in black clothing, looking more like a punk than a gardener in her black baggy pants, skin-tight black tank top, and long, black canvas jacket. Even her hair was raven-wing black, straight, waist-length, and silky. With her steel chain necklace, the silvery chains decorating her pants, and the orange, spider-web patterns on her jacket, she looked more like she belonged in a haunted house.
With all her black and metal, the rough brown gloves, brown apron, and wide-brimmed straw hat looked a little odd on her. Both the gloves and apron were liberally streaked in dirt. Her hair was bound in a ponytail, the hat shading the pale while skin of her face and neck. The end of her ponytail, not shaded by the hat, glowed blue in the sunlight.
The cottage itself was located at the edge of a small town, sitting between it and the forest that bordered the town. Cat preferred to live out of the way, not at all comfortable with being around large groups of people. Being so near to the forest at least gave the illusion of being more isolated than she was and the town was close enough to get any supplies she needed, but for the most part she tried to grow or hunt her own food and make her own supplies. She could find interesting, rare plants in the forest to sell for a profit to buy what she couldn’t make.
Yushika: The woman cursed under her breath as she slipped past the bushes and branches, biting back loud snarls as she swatted away bugs. What was she doing out here? A simple stroll was becoming hell, the warm woman would regret her attempt at stretching her legs soon, or, she already did.
Her skin was pale, glowing an eerie color when the skin hit it. It was warm to the touch, as if there was a fire under her skin. Emerald eyes burst from under her fire-red hair that seemed to have licks of orange and white in it, as if her hair was fire itself. It was long, layered, and several strands would not fit in the loose ponytail. She wore an orange and white top that shimmered when the light hit, and simple white pants with dark boots. The woman's skin seemed so pure, and yet that scowl pursued on her light lips was anything but. She was attractive, built fairly nicely, but she wasn't the type to pat her eyelashes and use her looks to get what she wanted. Not usually.
She hadn't expected to stumble near a house, and certainly hadn't expected to see a familiar face. She remembered her, this girl wearing black, from some other time. A room! She had been in a room! Feuer contemplated walking away, leaving the woman to do her thing, however thirst and the desire to escape from the heat urged her forward.
"Hello." She piped, brushing back loose hair that framed her face, warm skin grazing her cheek.
[4:02:16 PM] Jinx: Cat jumped, or tried to, but her kneeling position made it impossible. Instead she nearly pitched face-first into the loose earth of her garden, and only the fact that her hands had been in front of her (buried in the soil searching for the roots of a tough weed) saved her as she braced herself and regained her balance. She stood up so quickly that she nearly pitched over again, both from the speed of her rising and the blood rushing to her head after she'd been kneeling for so long. She swayed, but was able to steady herself again.
Where had this woman come from? Cat never got company, her cottage was far too isolate. Even as she fixed the woman with a startled glance something felt naggingly familiar, like she'd know this woman once, long ago. It didn't serve to reassure her, for Cat had practically no good memories of her past, but it made her hesitate and try to think past that instinctive rush of fear.
"H-Hello," she stammered in response to the greeting, wiping dirt off her glaves and onto her gardening apron. She felt awkward, not sure how to feel or what to do next.
[4:31:39 PM] Yushika: Feuer knew it. It was her. It had to be. Ah. Suddenly, the name reached her tongue, watching the girl do some sort of spazzstic dance before standing. Her eyebrow raised, a slight smirk on her lips. Oh.
"Cat, right? I know there's more, but I'm bad with names." Cat was so nervous! She watched the girl, looking at the garden the girl had been playing with. Her head tilted, slightly jealous. She wasn't really able to garden. If plants touched her too much they would burst into flames. "Those are nice. I'm not that great with plants, what are they?" She tilted her head back, letting out a tired sigh, hair blowing bangs from her face. Oh gosh, what was wrong with her, deciidng to explore randomly? Moron.
[5:03:41 PM] Jinx: Cat had to take a moment to calm herself further, lest she begin to stammer her reponse so as to make it gibberish. There wasn't a feeling of wrongness about this woman that her memories could hint at, and the way she held herself now didn't seem like she intended any harm. Of course Cat knew better than anyone that a stance could lie...
"They're mostly herbs," she responded in a soft, whispering voice that nonetheless managed to carry. "Things I can use to give my food more flavor, since I forage more than I buy things." She was silent for a moment, then, "Sometimes people like to buy what extra I have, to use for crafting or food of their own."
[5:08:13 PM] Yushika: She raised her eyebrow, again. Oh. Hell. She just passed some weird mushrooms, if she knew Cat foraged she would have grabbed them. Smirking at the girl, she tilted her head, nodding. "You're better than me. I just microwave things. Or heat them with my skin." She didn't bother explaining. She was always curious if 'Daevas could feel her heat, though knew better than to randomly go up, exchange hellos, and throw herself on one.
"You live out here, huh?" She looked about, impressed, smiling lightly. "You look like a doll, but you live in the woods. Hey, that's kind of cool. I'm impressed. What's the term... mmm, color me impressed?"
[5:18:07 PM] Jinx: A tiny smile came to Cat's face at that. She and the woman were both pretty colorless. In fact, looking at both of them, it was like they shared the same three, basic colors in their clothing, but almost opposite. Cat was dark, she was light.
"I don't use electricity for things, as much as I can manage," she said softly. "I don't have a lot of extra money, most of what I earn goes to bills." She didn't even need electrcity so much, or even plumbing. It just made life a little easier, but if it were to vanish she'd manage.
"I'm sorry, but I don't remember your name. I think I know you, but my memory's dim."
[5:23:59 PM] Yushika: "I'm Feuer." The woman mused, watching Cat with interest. She shook her head, letting out a gentle sigh. "Oh my gosh. I need electricty. If the microwaves fails, I'm done for." A low laugh escaped her mouth, friendly. She glanced down at Cat, brushing back hair before toying with her top.
"You were a lot quieter, refused to speak to me for a bit before we spoke some more." She smiled, remembering how she had to be so gentle and quiet for the girl at the time. It seemed the girl was better now, at least. For the moment.
[5:28:42 PM] Jinx: Cat bit her lip. She still couldn't remember, but then again if this was further back in her past she wouldn't /want/ to remember. "I never talked much as a kid," she said softly, though holding herself strongly, without shame. When she'd decided to leave her past behind she'd told herself to leave any shame behind as well.
"I've been living on my own for awhile now. I got good at foraging in the forest before I got this house, so I'm still pretty self-sufficent."
[5:32:40 PM] Yushika: "Well. Good for you. Living on your own is a big step." She had always lived on her own, but she knew how families seemed to live on a different dynamic than hers had. Then again, she was sure Cat's family wasn't that... she remembered how terrified Cat had been as a child, it sent cold shivers down her spine, anger resurfacing.
"Am I disturbing you? I was going on a walk, I wasn't stalking, I swear. I mean, it's pretty cool to see you again, but I can go. Not without grabbing those mushrooms I saw first, though."
[5:41:58 PM] Jinx: "Mushrooms?" Cat's voice sharpened, the volume louder. For a minute she seemed perfectly normal, nothing at all timid about her as she propped her hands on her hips and fixed Feuer with a stern stare. "Do you know what kind of mushrooms these are, or did you just think they looked interesting or tasty?"
[6:00:48 PM] Yushika: Feuer blinked, raising an eyebrow right back, putting her hands on her hips, definte. "Yup. Mushrooms. Why?" She smirked suddenly, deciding to play around, in a somewhat civil nature today. "Nope. Why? Is it bad I ate them?" She didn't, however she faked a slight groan, eyes batting. "Oh, I suddenly don't feel so awesome. You think it was the mushrooms I ate?"
[6:05:33 PM] Jinx: Cat looked slightly panicked. "You /ate/ them? Without knowing what they even /are/?! Her voice rose an octive with each sentence. "When was this? Do you still have any of the mushrooms on you?" She threw her hands up in the air as though asking for patience, trying not to fidget herself to pieces. "For the love of the deities don't you know how dangerous that is? There's a large variety of poisonous mushrooms out there, and you just /ate/ them?!
[6:08:07 PM] Yushika: Her voice almost shook with laughter, however she held it. Feuer tossed hair from her eyes, about to answer, suddenly collapsing to the ground and letting out a blood curdling scream. "OH GOD. MUSHROOMS." She squirmed and twitched until finally, she stopped moving, going still.
....
And then she sat up, blowing hair from her eyes, bright emerald eyes laughing despite the fact she knew the 'Daeva might murder her. "Ah. I can get you ruffled!" With this, she fixed her hair, smirking at the female with a hint of play.
[6:18:59 PM] Jinx: Cat's expression didn't twitch at all. If anything, her frown had deepened. "It's not funny," she said in a quiet voice. "There's nothing funny about death or poison or pain." Her face spasmed, a blur of emotions warring with each other inside her. Abrupty she turned and dropped back to her knees on the ground, digging at the weed she'd been trying to uproot before Feuer startled her. She shoulders were stiff, her entire posture more ridgid that it had been before.
[6:22:09 PM] Yushika: Whoa. Whoa whoa. Hey wait, what, no. Quickly, she rose and approached Cat, though didn't touch her. Resting on the balls of her heels, her voice became softer, apologetic. s**t. She had stepped on something, hadn't she?
"Hey. I'm sorry. I... I don't get to really talk to people, and am kinda stupid with my jokes sometimes. Forgive me? I just wanted to see you worry, I thought it'd look cute, you know?" She rested her head on her knees, hugging her knees as she stayed near Cat. "I'm sorry. I know it isn't funny. I thought... hrn. Can I... Can I help you weed?"
[6:32:09 PM] Jinx: Cat kept her head down, shielding her face from view with her arm as she dug deeper into the damp soil, tugging on the stubborn root. After the rage had subsided it was replaced with a deep, gut-wrenching fear. Outbursts of temper like that always made Cat afraid of herself, afraid that genetics would tell and she'd turn out like her hated father...
"Sorry I yelled," she mumbled from behind the shielding of her arm and hat brim. "I just don't like it when people take stuff like that lightly, joke about it."
She gave a hearty tug and the weed finally popped out of the ground, its trailing tap root longer than the plant itself. Cat folded it in half and tossed it in a nearby basket already half full of plucked weeds. "You can help if you want. Ask if you don't know whether you're pulling up a weed or a plant that's supposed to be here." Feuer said she didn't garden much, she probably didn't know the difference if she couldn't identify the different plants.
[6:39:02 PM] Yushika: "It's fine. I was being a brat."
Feuer approached, nodding. She reached for a weed, certain it was because it looked just like the one Cat had. She grabbed it, about to pull it out when it burned, crumpling into her hands. She scowled slighty, head tilting and huffing slowly. "This was an attempt to make up for being a jerk. Instead, I'm making this harder for you."
[6:42:21 PM] Jinx: Cat looked over her shoulder, blinked at the sight of the burned plant in Feuer's hand. "It's fine, as long as you dig up the roots so they can't grow back," she said, going back to plucking up some more weeds. "Or burn any of the useful plants," she added as an afterthough, adding another weed to the basket.
[6:48:03 PM] Yushika: "Mm." Feuer managed to accomplish some weeding before she noticed she was making a mess, frowning slightly. She lowered her head onto her leg, the burning skin never affecting her. Glancing towards Cat, she tilted her head, rubbing the bridge of her nose.
"I have some plants at home. I can bring them back for you? I went through a period of trying to convince myself I was useful with plants. Aha. It... didn't work out." Looking at Cat, again, she puffed her cheeks out, playfully handing a boquet of weeds towards Cat. "For the nice lady." She was still trying to make up for earlier, having sensed she had touched something fragile and small earlier. Hell. She didn't want to leave her without Cat being as normal as she was earlier. She still remembered her as young, and hell, it sparked a furious anger in her stomach every time she remembered.
[6:57:24 PM] Jinx: Cat gave Feuer a small smile and accepted the boquet of weeds, placing them carefully on top of the rapidly filling basket. "You might have just chosen the wrong plant. Some take a ridiculous amount of care and knowlege that you don't realize is needed until the plant just dies on you."
She reached over and plucked a sprig off of one of the plants in front of her. It gave off a spicy, floral aroma, with short, fleshy needle-like leaves. "Rosemary smells good and is a very easy plant to grow, it just needs sun, a little water every now and then, and to be cut back so it doesn't get too big."
[7:13:55 PM] Yushika: Feuer liked that smile, pleased the girl took the weeds before they burned. She watched as Rosemary was plucked, eyebrow raising. "Perhaps I should acquire some and try to take care of that. I'd own a pet, but they hate being near me." She laughed lightly, biting her bottom lip before asking:
"Can I ask something? I have a theory that maybe 'Daevas can't feel my heat. Do you think that's true? Do you have a resistant to heat?"
[7:22:33 PM] Jinx: Cat blinked and looked back at Feuer, surprised at the question. She stared at the woman for several moments, then slowly lifted her hands and stripped away one of her gloves. She held up the pale, slender hand attached to an equally delicate-looking wrist. Orange-red flames suddenly sprang up, engulfing the limb though leaving no marks on the skin.
"Our own flames do not burn us though if they catch fire to something those flames can. We have a certain tolerance for Daeva flame from another, but we can still be burned by it." Her voice took on a lifeless quality as she turned her hand over in the air, examining it with uninterested eyes. The flames vanished as suddenly as they came, and Cat lowered her hand. "We can still be burned. So, I don't know. It depends on the heat."
[7:37:42 PM] Yushika: "Ah." Feuer looked slightly dissapointed, though she hadn't been told no. She seemed fascinated with Cat's flames, and then smirked. "Well. I have a show for you." She stood up, moving backwards and far from plants. Spreading her arms, she winked before bursting into flames.
Her green eyes barely illuminated through, however they were noticable. A smile flickered behind the flames. She had flame resistant clothes, thanks to a frickin amazing person she knew. Rolo. Anyway, they died down, and eventually the flames left.
[8:18:15 PM] Jinx: For the second time that day Cat jumped, though not as spectacularly as she had the first time. Her mouth had dropped open a little, but as soon as she realized it she quickly snapped it shut. "Oh my." She blinked, eyes watering a little from the bright glare. "I've never seen anyone who can light up their whole body like that." She tilted her head a little, thinking. "Flames like those might burn me, I don't know. I've never seen anything like it before."
So it is discovered that Cat can tolerate high levels of body heat, but will be burned by Feuer's flames unless she touches her with her own flames.
Mental picture: (Approved by Yushi)
Cat's face was creased in concentration. It didn't help that Feuer kept pulling back, small flinches that cause the temperature to jump about as the air heated from the flames on her hand. Cat's own hand was awash in the eerie red-orange light of her own fire. It was difficult to control. She had been afraid of it at first, but had started to learn when she realized how much harm she could do if she couldn't command it. It wasn't even the flames that were the worst. She could cover her entire body in flames if she wanted, but most of the time the temperature was low and it barely scorched, let alone set things of fire. Even a normal might be able to touch her without harm, at least for a short time. Temperature was another issue altogether. It was hard to keep temperature consistent and even. She tried to feel the temperature of the hand in front of her, and match it with her own flames. She had to go quite high. Perhaps not as hot as she could go, but the effort left beads of cold sweat breaking out over her body. Finally her hand touched Feuer's. She felt the flesh jerk back and quickly entwined their fingers to keep her from moving away. It hurt a little, but she put that aside and focused simply on adjusting the temperature of her flames. After a time her face relaxed. Her shoulders, which had been tensed and hitched rather high, fell into an equally relaxed state. At some point she had closed her eyes. Now she opened them, and stared at their entwined hands. It was fascinating how the flames danced together, the two colors merging and swirling about. She looked up at Feuer and tried to reassure her with a smile. She didn't quite trust herself to speak yet, afraid that if she distracted herself the delicate balance of temperature would be broken. This would take practice to perfect, but it seemed it could be done.
But no okay so like [7:35:34 PM] Yushika: They keep practicing [7:38:02 PM] Yushika: And Feuer just /stays/ there, mostly to protect Cat from whatever she's afraid of, and to help around the house/garden. During these sessions it becomes easier for her to relax, and eventually the touching increases. They try hugging. Feuer attempts brief snuggles. They get more comfortable around each other, and it becomes more natural to relax. Sure, Cat is skittish time to time, and Feuer has her insecurities that randomly pop up, but the combined Feuer staying and the practice sessions help lower the guards both feel. Intimacy (romantic) can be an "accident", like Hugin and Vetis were. Maybe what was meant to comfort the other turns into a kiss. Perhaps Cat actually explains what has her so scared finally, and Feuer reaches out to embrace the other. [7:38:28 PM] Yushika: Because I doubt either would do a confession like some of our couples did. They seem more like a Eiro/Phrixos Hugin/Vetis thing [7:56:53 PM] Jinx: Well Eire/Phrix and Hugin/Vetis were pretty special and both had high emotion stories leading up their realizations. And just all sorts of cute.
I do see it being something of a long process for them. I don't know if Feuer would actually be "living" there, mostly popping in for visits, spending the night before doing stuff. Like I see her staying close, but she would probably get out and about more. Might convince Cat to do the same to help open her up a bit. But it doesn't really hit home for either of them that Feuer has been living there until Cat sort of off-handedly comments about making another room for the cottage for Feuer has room for things. Then it's a sort of, "Wait, we are totally living together" sort of AHA moment.
I see it being a bit the same with practice. Like they do practice touching, figuring out how hot they can go and how quickly/consistently Cat can match Feuer's temperature so she can do it without even thinking about it. I see Feuer relaxing more when they can accomplish that, since if Cat can match her temp in almost an instant it would greatly decrease chances of accidents. By this point Cat would be familar with touching Feuer (I see Cat using only her hands since they're easier for her to control, but since Feuer can easily light her whole body they'd probably have Cat touching her in various places like seeing if she could hold Feuer's arm and move her, or if she could drag her somewhere while Feuer's temp fluxuates in case they have to douse her for an emergency or something.) So when Feuer suggests they try seeing if Cat can raise her temperature with her flames using more than her hands, she's a lot more comfortable with it that she would have been when they first started these experiments. I see, when they discover Feuer can actually hug Cat with no harm, Feuer being so pleased she goes for random snuggles. Maybe on bad nights (for either of them) they'll wind up sharing a bed just for comfort reasons, Feuer because Cat is probably one of the few people (or maybe the only one, since IDR her entire history) who has been able to touch/hold her without harm and Cat because by this point she subconsciouly knows Feuer would rather inflict harm on herself than hurt Cat and trusts her. [8:02:09 PM | Edited 8:04:18 PM] Jinx: I think a turning point for them would be very similar to Phrix and Eire's turning point. Something would happen to trigger a flashback. I'm not sure what kind of flashback we'd want to go for. I could see something hurting Feuer and Cat responds by destroying the thing past the point of reason. Like it's dead but she keeps attacking until it's pulp. I see this reaction being something Feuer wouldn't realize is inside Cat. Finally she can't stand seeing it anymore and stops Cat, who almost turns on her, but something seems to snap back into place and she stops. And after that Feuer would gently insist on figuring out what brought on that violence, which would be how Cat's horror story comes out.
Or we could have them go into town one day. Either Cat seems someone who reminds her of her father (irony would be seeing a glimpse of her actual father) or someone starts harassing them and even though they could easily take them Cat starts reacting with fear. After they get back to a safe place, same thing. Feuer gently gets the whole story out of Cat.
Or as they practice touching and just in general living together, bits and pieces of the story come out and Feuer is able to put together a partial picture. Any maybe something like a night terror or whathaveyou is the trigger that shows Feuer the damage goes a lot deeper than what she feared. [8:04:15 PM] Yushika: I like the seeing Abaddon, as that can help with Abaddon and Niyola story, too. [8:05:28 PM] Jinx: Well she wouldn't stop and chat or anything. As soon as she gets that glimpse, she's gone. Ab probably wouldn't even see her unless she looked up and he was already looking at her. Either way, she's out. [8:05:45 PM] Jinx: No explanation, nothing. Just getting the hell away. [8:06:46 PM] Yushika: No that's fine. Feuer would chase after. But it could be amusing when be backstory Ab and Niyola, because he could be with Niyola at that point and Niy spots Cat and wonders why they look so alike [8:07:53 PM] Jinx: That would lead to quite a few awkward questions, but he probably won't bring Cat up until like waaaaay later into their relationship, or as a final attempt to chase Niyola off by trying to frighten her or something [8:11:10 PM] Jinx: But yea, once the full story is out I can see a romance start just from Feuer trying to comfort Cat. Like healing the fear with love. They'll probably be a little awkward at first, just because Cat's not good at love and Feuer won't want to hurt her, but after they grow comfortable with the relationship it becomes natural to them.

Subject: Higure & Aracelis
Shop: Modifoxes
[9/22/2012 1:44:00 AM] Lisa: Higure: is shoved out*
[9/22/2012 1:44:09 AM] Lisa: ( i dont really have his muse atm but yeah)
[9/22/2012 1:45:14 AM] Jinx: (*shrugs* I don't really have Ara's all the way out yet either, so it's cool)
[9/22/2012 1:45:24 AM] Lisa: (woot for us lol)
[9/22/2012 1:46:20 AM] Jinx: Ara walked out into the room, head hanging and looking slightly depressed. When she saw the blue male already standing in what she'd assumed was an empty room her head jerked in surprise and she quicker tried to mask her depression. "Ah, hello! I'm sorry, I didn't know anyone was here."
[9/22/2012 1:47:15 AM] Lisa: Higure: Glances up noticing a red vixen* Oh Hello. It's okay just sitting here lost in thought. would you like to join?
[9/22/2012 1:51:17 AM] Jinx: Ara visably hesitated for a moment. She didn't want to intrude, and she certainly didn't want to dump all her issues on a stranger. But the thought of being alone was suddenly unbearable, so, "Sure." She padded over and sat down next to the male, careful not to invade his personal space. "You have my thanks. I'm Aracelis, but everyone calls me Ara."
- roleplay interrupted, here's a restart -
[12:52:03 AM] Lisa: Higure: wanders out*
[12:53:45 AM] Jinx: Ara: *already sitting outside, looking up at the starry sky and the waxing moon*
[12:54:34 AM] Lisa: Higure: Notices the red female and feels that she looks lonely so slowly aprroaches her* Ma'am?
[12:57:49 AM] Jinx: Ara: *glances over at Higure, a little surprised at his arrival* Oh, hello! Didn't expect company. *blinks* I've met you before, right? Sorry, I don't think I got your name at the time.
[12:59:00 AM] Lisa: Higure: Nods* Yes we meet real briefly and I had to run out and do something suddenly. It was very rude of me I'm sorry. *walks a little closer but doesn't sit down* Will you accept my apologie? And my name is Higure
[1:04:27 AM] Jinx: Ara: *laughs, a light, tinkling laugh* Oh my dear, an apology isn't necessary! Life calls us away with no thoughts for rudeness, it wasn't your fault. *small smile at him* Besides, we'd just happened across each other. It isn't like we're bosom friends, to be greatly miffed in one of us should just vanish. *tiny frown* I can't remember if I gave you /my/ name......?
[1:11:30 AM] Lisa: Higure: Smiles and visably relaxes* Your right but I've ran into some foxes where they thought that behavior was just plain rude. Um... you might have but unfortunately I cant remember. I'm sorry do you mind telling me again just incase?
[1:13:50 AM] Jinx: Ara: *tilts her head back, looking at the sky again* Yes, and I suppose some of us have more reason than most for thinking vanishing without warning is the height of rude. *sighs* Still, I guess I continue to live in hope. *glances sideways at Higure* You can sit, if you'd like. My name's Aracelis, but everyone calls me Ara.
[1:15:20 AM] Lisa: Higure: Sits down besided her and stares up at the sky* Aracelis is a beautiful name. So Ara what brings you out here? What do you mean you continue to live in hope if you dont mind me asking?
[1:19:15 AM] Jinx: Ara: *shoulders tighten at the question* I do mind. It's nothing against you, it's just something personal I'd rather not discuss at the moment. *tries to relax herself, partially succeeds* Thank you, for the compliment on my name. It means "altar of the sky". I don't know if that's the reason for it, but I've found I always liked stargazing, or even cloudwatching on a good day.
[1:25:21 AM] Lisa: Higure:*nods in understanding* I know or have an idea of how you feel. I've got something of the same. As for your name you are most welcome. I think the meaning of your name suits you based of my intial impression.
[1:28:14 AM] Jinx: Ara: *gives Higure another sideways look and small smile; doesn't comment on his personal issue* Again, thank you. I'd return the compliment, but I have no idea what Higure means. *very quiet laugh* I'd hate to insult you by finding out the meaning isn't pleasant or something.
[1:30:13 AM] Lisa: Higure: My father informed me that it means 'twilight' and my sisters means 'midnight' which makes sense she is very dark colored. Though I'm not sure how I would be associated with twilight.
[1:31:13 AM] Jinx: Ara: You colors bring to mind water more than twilight, yes. Do you like the twilight hours?
[1:32:31 AM] Lisa: Higure: couldn't help but flinch at the water comment but tried to act like it didn't affect him when it really did deep down inside* I think the twilight hours are beutiful when I get to see them. Though lately I haven't gotten to while traveling to visit different parts of my family
[1:35:26 AM] Jinx: Ara: *notices the flinch at the word water, feels like an invisible hand squeezed her heart and steals her breath for a moment; quickly recovers* I've been living in the same place for awhile. Been thinking about moving sometime soon. I don't see a whole lot of my family, only two of my sons come to visit with any regularity.
[1:38:45 AM] Lisa: Higure: bites the inside of his cheek hard to almost the point of drawing blood* Maybe moving would be good? I know my mother is a nomad and loves to move around from time to time but always comes back to the area where my father is in a tribe. You have kids really? Whats it like?
[1:45:33 AM] Jinx: Ara: I was a nomad before- *visably swallows the rest of her words, looks away*. Yea, I have six kids. I raised my oldest sons and youngest daughter, but didn't get to meet my oldest daughters and youngest son until they'd already grown up. *bites her cheek* I've talked to my oldest recently, but I haven't seen the other girl or my youngest son for a long, long time. *voice a little bitter* My family's a bit divided
[1:47:17 AM] Lisa: Higure: *Is sadden to hear that* I'm really sorry. I shouldn't have asked... its just I've wanted kids and my sister is the first one to have kids. Didn't want to mope (sp) around her to much so I didn't ask alot of questions *gives her a comforting nudge*
[3:16:58 AM] Jinx: Ara: *bittersweet smile* Children are an amazing gift. I dearly love the three I raised, but it's sad that I never got to watch the other three grow up. We're essentially strangers.
[5:26:20 PM] Lisa: Higures: *feels sad to hear this* I'm sorry that how things are with you and your family. I suppose its better to have none at all than to have and yet never have them.
[6:12:28 PM] Jinx: Ara: Oh no, I wouldn't trade my babies for anything! Even if things didn't turn out how I would have liked, I've got three that love me. I've been reconnecting with one of my previously lost daughters, and at least I know the other two are alright even if I never get to see them.
[6:14:49 PM] Lisa: Higure: Oh I'm sorry for miss understanding. Though its good to hear that you've gotten some contact with atleast one of them.
[6:18:05 PM] Jinx: Ara: *nods and makes a little humming affirmation sound; sits in silence for a bit, then-* What about you? If you could have kids, but the other parent vanished with half of them and you never got to meet them until they were adults, would you still go through with it if it meant you at least got to raise kids of your own?
[6:22:03 PM] Lisa: Higure: I was never able to have kids...My partner vanished before we even made it that far. Though you're right I would like to have the kids if I was able to.
[6:26:22 PM] Jinx: Ara: Hypothetically, though. You sympathize with my situation, but if you knew in advance you'd get what I did, would you still go through with having kids?
[6:27:09 PM] Lisa: Higure: I actually tried to knowing that she would leave even though she had just gotten back. So to answer your question yes
[6:31:16 PM] Jinx: Ara: *still looking up at the sky* You know, I might agree with you on that. For the first time, anyway. Now? *shrugs* I think I'd rather love the children I have now than ever have to go through something like that again if I can avoid it.
[6:36:08 PM] Lisa: Higure: That's makes sense and I think if I was in the same situation if I were you. The heart break does a number on the heart
jinxgirl5: *nods quietly and continues looking at the sky* That it does. Sounds like you have experience in heartbreak yourself.
lisais-fire619: Yea, and you seem to as well. I'm sorry. Do your children know what happened or are they kind of in the dark?
jinxgirl5: Yes, they know.l Would be hard not to know, considering their father was nowhere around and half their siblings gone with him. Even if they hadn't known that, their father and siblings just showing up one day would have been a major shock. There was no way to mistake the relationship, my three looked most like him and the three with him looked a lot like me.
lisais-fire619: Wow, that must have been really hard for all of you. I wasn't sure, I know some parents don't cause they believe the other is dead.
jinxgirl5: *doesn't respond for a long time, then-* Yes, I wasn't sure what the truth was. But I thought I should tell my children all I knew and as much as I could guess, so they didn't have to live their lives wondering.
lisais-fire619: *watches her closely* That was wise and kind of you. *clears throat* We can talk about other things if you would like.
jinxgirl5: Please. Can you suggest a topic?
lisais-fire619: Yea, sure. Sorry, um, what do you like to do?
jinxgirl5: Hmm, besides sky-gazing I also like to run and swim.
lisais-fire619: That sounds fun. Anything else?
jinxgirl5: A few things, but those are my favorites. How about you?
lisais-fire619: I like to explore. I did go to the beach and swim a lot. I visit my sister from time to time but don't really have favorites anymore.
jinxgirl5: *looks at Higure* You don't swim anymore?
lisais-fire619: No, not really.
jinxgirl5: Why? Something happen?
lisais-fire619: Yea, you could say that.
jinxgirl5: Want to talk about it?
lisais-fire619: I can.
jinxgirl5: Well I'm here to listen, if you ever want to talk about it.
lisais-fire619: Thank you. My mate and I used to swim a lot.

Shop: Modifoxes
[6/12/2014 6:34:43 PM] Yushika: Freya grumbled as her fingers tossed through white hair, silver eyes rolling in annoyance. Ah, she hated summer. The heat was unbearable. That and the fact /her/ Aoi had dared to have children with that freak. That kidnapper of best friends. White nails tapped against her skull, lips pursing as the 5'7'' woman collapsed onto a park bench, arms spreading out to cup around the back.
"What s**t this day is." She grumbled, sucking her teeth as she did so. Not like she could visit Aoi. That weird daughter of hers was always around and lately… well…. Coven gave her the creeps. Besides, Aoi was not in the mood for much lately. Her mothers kept demanding to see her children, and it was clear Aoi was on the verge of a break down. She had never been a people person.
So she had to suffer in silence. God damn it. [6/12/2014 6:46:06 PM] Jinx: (( Ugh. Kittens want to see what my hands are doing, so I have to constantly shoo them away. )) [6/12/2014 6:48:30 PM] Yushika: (( Shhh kittens go home )) [6/12/2014 6:57:34 PM] Jinx: Shiori's entire body radiated a sense of contented peace and her bright greens eyes seemed to almost glow as she looked around. It had been a long time since she went out and about, usually sticking to a solitary lifestyle. Her disability seemed to make people feel uncomfortable or awkward, and she didn't want to put people off. There were many groups of people out today, frolicking in the emerald grass while they laughed and enjoyed the pleasant weather. She exchange several smiles and waves, but didn't stop to join any of the groups like she wanted to.
As her feet carried her along to the shadier parts of the park the people thinned out, probably because with all the trees there was less room. Benches and comfortable nooks were set along either side of the path, taking advantage of the shade. One such nook appeared as she rounded a bend in the path, but this one was occupied. It would have been easy to overlook the woman sitting on the bench at first; her coloring caused her to seem to blend with the green background. Shiori was admiring the effect when she noticed the woman looked put out. Like she wasn't sure if she wanted to scream or cry. Shiori frowned. Maybe with was meddlesome of her, but whenever she saw someone upset she couldn't help but want to, well, help them.
Shiori backtracked for a moment, going up the path a few yards to a cluster of flowers she'd spotted growing in the gentle sunlight that filtered through the trees. She examined the patch until she found the perfect one, then carefully pulled it from the ground. She thought about saving the roots too, but decided against it. It the woman liked gardening she could probably get roots to grow from the stem, and if she didn't then nothing was more off-putting than pale stringy roots dropping dirt all over the place. She hurried back and shyly approached the woman sitting on the bench. She smiled brightly, eyes compassionate and encouraging, as she offered the woman something pretty to hopefully brighten her day. [6/12/2014 7:14:42 PM] Yushika: Short green hair flicked against her shoulder as the slender woman leaned further into her seat, fingers lowering to adjust the green hoodie with white swirls. Her legs, clad in silver leggings, folded as she attempted to get comfortable. Damn. She would kill for an ice-cream right now. Pursing her lips, her tongue flicked out to wet them before she suddenly froze.
A woman stood before her holding a flower.
Now anyone who knew Freya would describe her as grumpy and irritable, which she often was. So, it probably wouldn't be a surprise to others when she raised an eyebrow and went: "Huh?" What was this woman doing, anyway? She viewed the flower, eyebrow raising further. "You tryin' to tell me something?" [6/12/2014 7:31:29 PM] Jinx: Shiori's smile was still bright as she twitched her hand, hoping the woman would realize that as an indicator that the flower was meant for her. A pleasant breeze wafted past, tickling her face with the bright pink stands of hair that framed it. It fell several inches past her shoulders, and even when she tied it up it always seemed to escape. The woman gave her and the offered flower a critical look. Perhaps she didn't like flowers. She'd never run into anyone who didn't like them, but it wasn't unreasonable. She could be allergic or something.
Shirori's hand fell a little. She made sure to look at the woman's hand in an obvious fashion, then resumed eye contact, her expression earnest as she held the flower out again. Perhaps the woman was only confused as to Shiori's intent. Some people found it harder than others to read her body language, but she hoped the meaning got across! [6/12/2014 7:39:11 PM] Yushika: Freya just /stared/. Her eyes blankly viewed the other, fingers twitching in confusion. "What." It wasn't a question, simply a statement. This woman was creeping her out. Slowly, her eyes trailed down to view the woman's hand, then flicked back to the others eyes. "Are you mute or somethin'? Spit it out." s**t, perhaps she should tone it down. It wasn't helpful if she just spat out her bad mood at others.
"You want me to take it?" Leaning up and dropping her arms from the back of the bench, she sighed lowly and accepted the flower, looking at it with an eyebrow raised. "Right? For me? I'm not stealin't this from you and breakin' your heart?" [6/12/2014 7:48:19 PM] Jinx: Shiori beamed when the woman took the flower. It would have been impossible to miss that she was happy her gift had been accepted. Then her expression sombered. It was clear that while accepted, her gift hadn't really cheered the woman up like she had hoped it would. It seemed like this wouldn't be that simple. Her brows knitted ever so slightly and she chewed on the inside of her cheek while she pondered her next move. Answering the woman's question would probably be a good start, since it seemed her muteness was having a negative effect. She took a deep breath, mustering all her concentration, and squeaked. It was the loudest sound she could make. She gestured at her throat and then shrugged, assuming an expression of good-natured resignation.
Her face shifted again, this time to concern. She pulled an exaggerated face of upset then raised both her brows questioningly, trying to communication to the woman she noticed her mood and invited an explanation. If she knew what was causing the woman's unhappiness, perhaps then she could help! [6/12/2014 7:52:47 PM] Yushika: Ah. The girl was mute. Rolling the stem between her fingers, Freya hunched slightly as she watched the girl, blinking. The hell was she saying now? It was almost comical how the others face kept changing every few seconds, causing a snort. "You okay there?" Nope, she didn't understand the other. If only the other had a damn notebook.
"Hey, y'know, you should have something to write on if you want to actually communicate." [6/12/2014 8:05:42 PM] Jinx: Shiori blinked and a hand automatically moved to pat her waist, then she bite her lip and shrugged, her expression again good-naturedly resigned but this time also slightly chagrined. She had communicated through writing before, but since she thought she was only going out for a quick walk, it hadn't occurred to her to bring her notebook along. She had a small tote bag that contained said items since her preferred outfits, skirts and cardigans, didn't always have pockets. She smoothed the layers of ruffles on her bright pink skirt, thinking. Her eyes drifted to the ground and lit up. She crouched and scooped up some handfuls of the loose soil, trying not to get any bark bits or dried leaves. It took her less than half a minute to collect a respectable pile, which she carried in cupped hands towards the bench.
She cast the woman a reassuring smile, her expression slightly apologetic. She was sure this was making the other even more uncomfortable, but it seemed better than miming. She sat on the bench, trying to make sure she didn't invade the other's personal space, then settled the dirt on the ground before her and smoothed it out. She looked around again, and quickly found a tiny twig within reach. Her long fingers plucked it up, and in small, neat writing she scrapped 'Why upset?' into her little dirt pile, then looked up at the woman with her expression of concerned curiosity. [6/12/2014 8:41:16 PM] Yushika: Freya eyed the woman as she squatted, fingers tapping the flower stem. Curious, she watched the other scoop up dirt and headed over to the bench. Scooting over so the other had more room, her eyes flicked to view the soil, amused. Oh, what a creative little way to communicate.
Leaning backwards and folding her arms behind her head, she released a sigh. "Why am I upset, huh?" Her tone was low, exasperated. "Eh. I hate summer. It's gross. Nasty." [6/12/2014 8:47:06 PM] Jinx: Shiroi's curiosity grew. She knew bad weather made people cranky, but today was actually a lovely day. She couldn't picture the weather making even heat-haters so upset it reflected in their body language. She leaned forward and wiped the dirt smooth and wrote 'Hot?', then straightened and plucked at her cardigan, eyeing the woman's hoodie. If she didn't like summer, that thing couldn't be doing much to help. [6/12/2014 10:40:00 PM] Yushika: Freya watched the other, tightening her mouth at the question. "Yeah. Hot." Grumbling, curling her legs up and into the hoodie, arms wrapping around her knees. She caught the other eying her hoodie, rolling her eyes and sighing. "Yeah I saw that look. I get it. It doesn't help. It's just comfortable. I'm not gonna ruin my comfort for some stupid sun." [6/12/2014 10:51:16 PM] Jinx: Shiori wiped the dirt clear again, then sat doubled over for a moment, thoughtfully tapped the end of the twig against the ground. She could certainly empathize with comfort. She never went anywhere without a cardigan, though she could get those in lighter materials better suited to heat, so it never bothered her that much. There wasn't really anything she could do about that, or the weather. Seasons changed in their own time, and summer would eventually come to an end. But surely there had to be something she could do in the here and now that would help? Her tapping took on a lazy pattern while her thoughts strayed. The first couples thoughts she had had to be discarded.
Then the faintest sound of music in the distance caught her attention, and she straightened a little in triumph. Then she remembered she had no pockets and her tote was at home, and she slumped in her seat again with a quiet sigh. In very tiny handwriting she squeezed 'Snowcone. No money.' into the patch of dirt. Why oh why did she have to forget her bag at home today? [6/12/2014 10:55:22 PM] Yushika: Freya heard the sound, nearly perking up like a child. She watched the other nearly do the same, eyes flicking to view the dirt. Huh. The girl had no money? Well, she was in luck, Freya did. While she wasn't the nicest person around, she wasn't a jerk. Usually. The girl was hot. She was hot. They both were suffering, why not help the other out?
"Hey. Come with me." She mused, standing up and shoving her hands into her pockets, heading towards the sound of music. She didn't bother glancing back, pretty sure the pink-head would follow. [6/12/2014 11:00:08 PM] Jinx: Shiori looked curiously after the woman, but she didn't hesitate in standing up and following after her. The stick fell from her fingers to the side of the path, and she didn't worry about the dirt pile. It was tiny and the wind would eventually blow it away. She could hear the sounds of music growing loud, the tinkling a happy tune universal of most cold treat trucks. When they rounded a corner in the path and cleared the trees, sure enough, there was a van painted in garishly bright colors, clusters of children and harassed parents grouped around with a great deal more wandering away, clutching at their prizes. It seemed they were also heading towards it. Shiori shot the woman another curious look, though since she was in the lead she doubted she saw it.

[8/28/2014 3:13:33 PM] Yushika: Aerelia was being publicly humiliated for about the third time, yet she knew this wouldn't be the last. Bright green eyes stayed unflinching as a taller male ranted before her, hands gripped into fists as she watched her brother. The issue at hand? She wanted him to forgive hi- their mother for abandoning him. Yet, those same shade of green reflected hatred back at her as he spat at the ground, hands violently signing how he felt as his voice became raw and emotional.
To outsiders, they'd see a 5'7'' blonde with luscious curls and swept bangs staring at a 6'1'', lanky, dark haired man with hair that fell to his shoulders. They looked strikingly alike, eyes the exact same color and skin the same pale tone. Both were slender, however Aerelia had more curves than the taller brother. She also held herself proudly, while he seemed a bit self-conscious, slouched over. Her pale yellow dress fluttered in the gentle breeze, legs clad in cute white boots spread apart in defiance, arms crossed. The male wore a v-neck black shirt with golden accents, as well as black pants. They two stared at one another firmly when the male suddenly caught off his rant, and then his wings popped forth. To a human, they'd see nothing, but to one of their species they'd see golden and white wings flap violently, indicating his agitation.
"This is over, Aerelia." The man hissed, turning to leave. Her hand shot out, white nails clenching against his skin as she yanked on his arm..
"Prelude!" "I said this is over!" The man, Prelude, snapped, looking vaguely afraid as he wrenched free from her, buffering her with his wings. Quickly, he sped into the crowd, vanishing, leaving Aerelia in-front of the grocery store with gawking eyes upon her. Heart-broken, the female 'phim looked down, hand raising to wipe at her eyes.
"....Dammit." [8/28/2014 3:52:51 PM] Jinx: Icy blue eyes tracked the man as he vanished into the crowd, then moved back to the woman who stood on the street staring after him before turning her gaze to the ground, shoulders slumping. The observer saw what most people couldn't, that the man and woman both had a pair of huge, feathery wings jutting from their backs. He was leaning next to the doorway of the grocer's market the couple had had their argument in front of, plastic bag dangling from his wrist. He drew stares from the crowds as they passed him on their way into and out of the building. Unlike the man and woman there wasn't anything about him invisible to the human eye, but the aura of otherness that clung to their species seemed especially strong around him. It wasn't just the fox-shaped mask that dangled from his neck, the streak of bright red pain that started at his nose and ended in a tapered point in the middle of his forehead, his snowy white hair that ended in pale blue tips, or his odd clothes. What made him truly stand out was that everything about him, from his posture to his smile to the thoughtful glint in his eyes made him resemble a fox, a trickster waiting to the sides for a moment to pull a prank. Most people gave him a wide berth even as they continued to stare.
Epimetheus didn't have to stand there. The store the couple had chosen to fight in front of was a large one, with several ways out and in, and they'd been standing clear of the doors. No, it was just that he'd heard the strains of shouting while he was inside and couldn't help but become curious. Spotting those sets of giants wings just increased his curiosity. He made up his mind and pushed away from the wall.
Standing upright his build was a bit more visible. He was slender, but clearly in shape with plenty of long, lean muscles. The white shirt he wore clung to his frame, though the sleeves were a bit odd. They were long and trailing, with red sweeping lines. His pants and boots were also white, though they were a bit looser and looked to have been selected for their comfort. All of the white was quite pristine, not a stain or smudge to be seen. His hair, which had appeared to be chin length and styled in shaggy layers, was actually almost waist-length. It seemed like only the back was left to grow long, gathered into a neat tail and hidden when he had been leaning against the wall.
"Miss? Are you alright?" His voice had a lilt that sounded like he was used to breaking into pleasant laughter more often than naught, which only added to his trickster air. He tried to keep his tone light and friendly, not wanting to seem like a busybody, but also wanting to help if he could. He didn't typically interfere with things that weren't his business, but he didn't like seeing people upset either. [8/28/2014 3:53:00 PM] Jinx: (( Sorry that took so long. And it meanders so much... )) [8/28/2014 3:53:21 PM] Jinx: Also his hair style looks something like this
Sighing, Aerelia's wings vanished, arms curling around her shoulders as she made herself slightly smaller. When would she ever get through to him? When would he realize it was better to forgive than hate the woman who had loved him so..... Or so she believed.
The sound of another caused her head to snap to the side, green eyes widening in alarm. Biting her bottom lip, embarrassment briefly rushed through her before she glanced back to where Prelude had vanished, shoulders slumping once more. "'m fine." She mumbled, glancing back at the strange male with an interesting aura surrounding him. "Just.... not having a good day." Well, that was an understatement. [8/28/2014 4:03:50 PM] Jinx: (( Does Are like sweet stuff? )) [8/28/2014 4:05:19 PM] Yushika: (( She does! )) [8/28/2014 4:16:25 PM] Jinx: He highly doubted arguments and tears would be a good day in anyone's book (and if they did he wasn't sure he wanted to meet such a person). "Been there a time or two. Distractions always help." He glanced around; people who had witnessed the argument were mostly moving on, but there were a couple people lingered and giving them stares. He looked back at the woman. "Tell you what, why don't you walk with me a bit? Nothing shady, nice public streets. I know an indoor garden that lets people in the door for free. It's a relaxing place to go, assuming you don't have plant allergies or a crippling fear of butterflies." His smiled encouragingly. Someone had once told him his smile made him look like the character from a human story called Peter Pan. Charm, humor, and a liveliness that seemed to promise adventure. And even if you knew it might be a bad idea, you couldn't help but go along with it. Epimetheus personally thought that friend was exaggerating since he was often the target of his pranks, but he had to admit the fact that his brothers hadn't killed him before he reached maturity was proof he was doing something right. [8/28/2014 4:24:03 PM] Yushika: Normally, the woman would have flicked her hair and turned right around. She was used to perverts hitting on her, but it was that charming smile that caused a small twitch of the corner of her mouth, head slightly tilting to the side. Mm. He was cute. Still…. It was the safety of that smile that encouraged her. A promise of a good time, and a chance to spread her wings and just relax. It was tempting. Also, a chance to get away from these people would be nice….
Pursing glossed lips in thought, she let out an audible sigh and shook her head, curls flicking side to side. "Oh, what the hay. You only live once, right? Sure. I'd love to get my mind off things." Steeping a bit closer to the man, she offered a sweet smile, genuinely pleased by the offer. [8/28/2014 4:34:10 PM] Yushika: (( Can I put Raidon on the family tree? )) [8/28/2014 4:34:21 PM] Jinx: Sure [8/28/2014 4:34:40 PM] Jinx: Epimetheus gave a short laugh, the tone somewhere between the range of tenor and baritone. "Truer words have never been spoken, in my opinion!" He led the way, weaving easily through the crowd but keeping his pace slow. This was more of a pleasure walk than an purposeful walk, so there was no hurry. "My full name is a bit of a mouthful so I won't inflict it on you. Most people call me Ep or Epi, though there are a few who prefer Metheus. Whatever you feel comfortable with is fine."
He rummaged around in the plastic bag hanging from his wrist, feeling around until his fingers pressed against something cold and smooth. He grasped it and pulled it out, then offered the drink to the woman. "Ever tried these before? They're sweet but not overpoweringly so. Kind of addictive really. I haven't met a flavor I hate." He noticed with interest that the bottle he picked was full of liquid that was almost as green as the woman's eyes. [8/28/2014 4:34:46 PM] Jinx: http://ii.worldmarket.com/fcgi-bin/iipsrv.fcgi?FIF=/images/worldmarket/source/28481_XXX_v1.tif&wid=2000&cvt=jpeg [8/28/2014 4:35:40 PM] Yushika: (( I LOVE THAT DRINK )) [8/28/2014 4:38:07 PM] Jinx: (( SAME )) [8/28/2014 4:39:17 PM] Yushika: Smile twitching slightly as it broadened, she hummed pleasantly as she followed him, hands clutching her matching purse with white straps. "My name is Aerelia." She chimed back, voice smooth and gentle, though it held a confidence to it. Smooth fingers reached out when the drink was offered to her, accepting it with a gentle nod. "Thank you." She hummed, inspecting the bottle curiously. "No, I've never had one, actually." However, her green eyes lit up at the notion it was /sweet/. "Mmm, but how do I know it isn't disgusting, or drugged? Here, you take a sip." Her smile was silly, though, as she tapped the bottle against his arm, free of any actual suspicion. (( They're so good oh god )) [8/28/2014 4:42:52 PM] Yushika: (( Makes happy chirping sounds at Raidon's image )) [8/28/2014 4:51:15 PM] Jinx: Epimetheus laughed again. "Hey, I might be known as a bit of a jokester but food has always been off limits. The plastic seal is still on the lid and I promise even if I did mess with food I have no clue how to put a new seal on. And the only way you'll know if you think it's nasty is to try not. Not that I'd say no to a sip," he added, "because I happen to be fond of that flavor. You okay drinking after a stranger though?" He grinned a little. "Also let me know if you need help getting it open." It was always fun watching people trying those drinks for the first time. It took them a while to figure out the cap was a tear-off push tab, and that you had to use it to push the marble sealing the opening of the bottle. They always looked so surprised when they figured it out. [8/28/2014 4:55:45 PM] Yushika: Tapping her fingers against the body of the drink, she returned it back to her. "I can get it open." A slight competitive edge followed as she glanced at hi, eyebrow raising. "How hard can it b-" Okay, so she figured out the tab, but the marble just baffled her. She stared at the marble, flicking her eyes back at him. "Do I drink around it?" [8/28/2014 5:01:31 PM] Jinx: Epimetheus grinned; it was a little uncanny how much his face looked like the mask around his neck, even though his features were human and the mask was clearly a fox. "I highly doubt it. The plastic is just to keep the cap on and assure people it hasn't been opened, but it's actually the marble that keeps the drink sealed. It's like trying to drink a canned beverage without pushing in the tab first." He waited to see if his hint would be recieved or if it was so obvious that it was too obvious. [8/28/2014 5:05:20 PM] Yushika: A pout followed, much like a kitten trying to figure out how to jump into someone's lap. Push…push… push! Clever and quick on her feet, she jabbed her thumb into the marble and jump a bit as it fell, eyes lighting right up. "Oh!" She chirped before rotating the bottle slightly, watching the marble. Pressing the bottle against her mouth, she took a tiny sip and immediately grinned.
"Mm~" [8/28/2014 5:07:50 PM] Jinx: (( Pfff, I don't think you can budge those things with your thumb. Or at least I never tried. I prefer the cap XD )) [8/28/2014 5:11:11 PM] Yushika: (( I actually have with my thumb (heart) )) [8/28/2014 5:11:20 PM] Yushika: (( It took a good push though, but it happened. )) [8/28/2014 5:11:29 PM] Jinx: (( You must have tough hands then. Mine are wussy hands XD )) [8/28/2014 5:11:42 PM] Yushika: (( Probably! I've heard I have an iron grip )) [8/28/2014 5:12:24 PM] Yushika: (( ******** Anrea, Eva, and Shi are online at the same time )) [8/28/2014 5:12:31 PM] Yushika: (( Reading my PM. ******** )) [8/28/2014 5:12:47 PM] Jinx: (( DUMBLEDORE IN A BIKINI )) [8/28/2014 5:12:57 PM] Yushika: (( WHAT. )) [8/28/2014 5:12:59 PM] Yushika: (( EW. )) [8/28/2014 5:13:06 PM] Jinx: (( DID THAT DISTRACT YOU? )) [8/28/2014 5:13:16 PM] Yushika: (( BRIEFLY YES. WTF. )) [8/28/2014 5:13:18 PM] Yushika: (( OH NO. )) [8/28/2014 5:13:21 PM] Yushika: (( I SEE HIS CHEST HAIR)) [8/28/2014 5:13:40 PM] Jinx: (( XD It's a thing from a fanfic I read that my friend and I do now when we need to be mentally distracted. )) [8/28/2014 5:14:55 PM] Jinx: Epimetheus grinned. "And score another fan for ramune. Melon's one of my favorites, but there's tons more. You should try the others some time." [8/28/2014 5:15:01 PM] Jinx: (( Sorry, short response! )) [8/28/2014 5:15:54 PM] Yushika: (( Tis okay! )) [8/28/2014 5:16:51 PM] Yushika: Smirking as she took another sip, she shook her head, a sweet laugh following. "Call me vain, but I like this because it's the same color as my eyes." Holding it firmly, the woman tilted her head towards Epi. "So…. why did you ask a stranger out?" [8/28/2014 5:18:13 PM] Yushika: (( Okay doing family tree is fun )) [8/28/2014 5:27:03 PM] Jinx: He hummed and reached up to twist a lock of his hair in his fingers, flicking the bright blue and snow white strands forward and letting his hand drop back down to his side, a common gesture of his when he was thinking of his answer. "Would you believe no reason at all? I like to think of myself as a people person, but-," he grinned wryly, "-I seem to make some of them nervous. Kids like me, but strange adult men talking to children is a bit of a red flag. You looked like a walk would do you good so I just took a shot and asked. Simple as that." He looked at Aerelia curiously. "Does that bother you?" [8/28/2014 5:41:42 PM] Yushika: (( Eva said I'm perfectly fine ; n ; <333 )) [8/28/2014 5:42:46 PM] Jinx: : ) Course you are [8/28/2014 5:45:31 PM] Yushika: (( Just need to wait for Mali and Shi to respond, and knowing Shi she's typing a long and blunt message that comes off as condescending. Mali is nice, and laid back. And I don't give a ******** what Jules says, lying little b***h. She just told Eva she apologized and stopped asking for the foxes, so I had to show PMs and log times to prove she apologized, then AN HOUR LATER demanded I give her my foxes. )) [8/28/2014 5:46:56 PM] Jinx: (( ......Seriously? )) [8/28/2014 5:47:33 PM] Yushika: (( SERIOUSLY. I have two PMs, one saying "I'm sorry for begging and you can talk to staff" at 7:00ish PM, then at 8:58 PM she sent a PM saying "no thanks don't want babies want Chronos and natalie" )) [8/28/2014 5:48:10 PM] Yushika: (( -groans extremely loudly- And she assumed I didn't save the PMs? UGH )) [8/28/2014 5:49:11 PM] Jinx: (( Well she isn't GETTING Chronos or Natalie.
b***h... )) [8/28/2014 5:49:41 PM] Yushika: (( Also fun fact Eva was gonna quit Modifoxes after she resolved Jules issue. But now that I mentioned what Shi said she's staying so she can help customers have a staff they feel safe talking to. )) [8/28/2014 5:49:58 PM] Yushika: (( Which thank god because Rea and Shi = Besties, as well as Rea and Jules. )) [8/28/2014 5:50:08 PM] Yushika: (( Eva is neutral. )) [8/28/2014 5:52:21 PM] Jinx: Yeeea. That place man, that place [8/28/2014 5:52:54 PM] Yushika: ANYWAY [8/28/2014 6:17:08 PM] Yushika: Shaking her head, she took another quick sip of her drink. "Nope. Doesn't bother me. Hard to ruffle my feathers." A short, awkward laugh escaped, followed by a gentle frown. "Besides, it's nice to get away from the crowd that was forming..." [8/28/2014 6:29:17 PM] Jinx: Epimetheus smiled sympathetically. "Yea, fights are never fun no matter where you are, so I can't imagine witnesses make things any better. I'm sure things will be better once you've had some time to cool off." He carefully didn't inquire into the nature of the right or the relationship Aerelia had with the man she had been fighting with. None of that stuff was any of his business. If she wanted to tell him that was one thing but being nosy, especially about a fight, was rude. He was here to help her cheer up, not make her upset again. [8/28/2014 6:46:14 PM] Yushika: Her eyes flicked to view the man, a smile following. "Y'know, you're a charmer. Thanks." Tilting her head, a finger tapped his mask. "What's that?" [8/28/2014 6:46:20 PM] Yushika: Also idc Mercury is on Runaiu's family tree [8/28/2014 6:46:22 PM] Yushika: He's ******** family [8/28/2014 6:47:22 PM] Jinx: D'aw XD [8/28/2014 6:48:06 PM] Yushika: I love Mercury and Runaiu ; n ; [8/28/2014 6:48:11 PM] Yushika: She's his mama. End of story. [8/28/2014 6:55:08 PM] Yushika: Hun. [8/28/2014 6:55:22 PM] Yushika: If I happen to by accident redo the doom tree seeing as my Six sibs family is a part of it, is that okay? [8/28/2014 6:55:35 PM] Yushika: It'd just happen as I add relatives. [8/28/2014 6:57:35 PM] Jinx: He looked down. "Hm? Ah." He plucked up the mask and held it over his face. The coloring, reds and blues on white, in combination with his own white hair and blue eyes, made it look almost real rather than a mask. The chuckle that came from behind it was clearer than most would imagine it, since his mouth was hidden by the slopping nose instead of covered by the mask. "I've had it for a long time. My brothers have one as well. They were probably gifts from when we were little. To be honest I don't remember, I only know I've had it for as long as I can recall." His voice, like his laugh, had also come out unmuffled. Epimetheus lowered the mask and let it once again dangle from its strap. Perhaps it was because the red face paint he worn was the same shade of red that decorated his mask, but for a split second it looked like he wore a simpler version of the face hanging next to his collar bone. [8/28/2014 6:57:38 PM] Jinx: Sure, that's fine [8/28/2014 7:04:41 PM] Yushika: I NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN FAMILY ECHO IT'S SO FUN. Watching him pluck the mask over his face caused a pause of breathing, as briefly she was fooled. It did look real, uncannily so, and it slightly creeper her out. However, it was interesting, too. His unmuffled voice did cause a blink, alarmed by it. "Oh." He had brothers. Lucky. "Do you and your brothers get along?" [8/28/2014 7:14:10 PM] Jinx: He grinned. "You could say that. I'm the middle child, though we were all born very close together. I don't know how it would be for a girl, but a guy with brothers... Well we certainly got into our fair share of messes."
As the walked the streets had become less and less crowded, leaving behind the more popular businesses. They turned a corner and there, down the street, was a huge glass dome. The sunlight glinted off of it, making Epimetheus glad he didn't live anywhere around here. It must hurt the eyes to look at that thing all the time. "Ah ha, we're getting closer! Have you ever been to the flower garden before? I hear they hold celebrations from time to time, though I've never been to one yet for myself." [8/28/2014 7:38:43 PM] Yushika: A soft sigh escaped her, jealousy mingling in. If only Prelude and her get along, but that seemed impossible. As today was proof. And then they reached the dome. Her eyes widened, alarmed by the sudden sight of the object, as if it just /appeared/ and no one asked twice about it. Shaking her head, her green eyes flicked to view him. "No, I haven't been down here before."
[8/30/2014 10:19:11 PM] Jinx: Hmmmm. Lots of potential for cute, but at the moment it still feels tip-toe-y. The thing with Prelude is something Epi won't want to really get involved in since it's not his battle, but family is super important to Are so at some point they'll have to talk about it. His advice would be to let it go. Love doesn't follow rules, it doesnt work the same for everyone. If she tries to push her own rules onto someone else there will be nothing but heartbreak at the end of that path. [8/30/2014 10:22:07 PM] Jinx: Basicially another closure thing, if that makes sense [8/30/2014 10:23:53 PM] Jinx: It's not in his nature to be around conflict. And not like arguements or stuff like that, cause he's caused his fair share, but things have to heal at some point. If Are and Prelude are always so at odds with each other and keep picking at the wounds, he's gonna walk away because there's nothing he can do about it. [8/30/2014 10:24:15 PM] Jinx: He won't get directly involved unless Are asks for help [8/30/2014 10:24:38 PM] Yushika: -nods- I figure once someone sits her down and actually explains that she needs to back off she'll learn to give up. She'd seek Epi out later and probably ask for his advice. [8/30/2014 10:24:53 PM] Yushika: But atm she's so dedicated to this because she doesn't know anything else? [8/30/2014 10:25:03 PM] Yushika: Harvest avoids her like the plague [8/30/2014 10:25:04 PM] Jinx: I don't know if talking to Epi directly would help Prelude [8/30/2014 10:25:07 PM] Yushika: Prelude screams. [8/30/2014 10:25:10 PM] Jinx: Epi's the kind who listens [8/30/2014 10:25:21 PM] Yushika: Well, Prelude wants Aer off his a**. [8/30/2014 10:25:23 PM] Yushika: That's literally it. [8/30/2014 10:25:38 PM] Yushika: And Aer needs someone to go "Woman. Sometimes you need to stop." [8/30/2014 10:25:54 PM] Yushika: The fact Epi has siblings encourages Aer, too. [8/30/2014 10:37:05 PM] Jinx: Well Epi would definitely sit down and talk to Aer about it. He'll try to help her understand, but the decision will be hers in the end. I have no clue how you want her relationship to be with Prelude, if any at all. If you want to work on them tolerating each other, Epi would be a mediator. Not sure if it's possible or not. In my head I see it taking a really long time. Epi listens and offers mostly objective advice. I think it might be a relief to Pre just to get his side of the story out and have someone who can see it from his point of view, assuming it bothers him even when he's away from Aer. I can see him being able to be friends with Pre, not even cause he's Aer's brother but just cause they could probably get along, and he's able to be a neutral party to the whole thing. Truthfully though, just from the vibes I get from them, I don't know if Pre and Aer could ever be easy around each other, even if he's mated to Aer and friends with Pre. I can picture tense truces at best. Not sure how Pre would react to any kids they have. I assume Aer would want them to know Pre and if Pre and Epi are friends he would certainly want to introduce the kids to him. [8/30/2014 10:37:46 PM] Jinx: It's all a very vague, long road when trying to picture it XD [8/30/2014 10:38:48 PM] Jinx: I don't see it having huge results either, since truce is the best /I/ can picture [8/30/2014 10:38:55 PM] Jinx: Still, it's a thought [8/30/2014 10:40:08 PM] Yushika: Pre and Aer should become more civil, yes. I want Pre to at least be able to be in the same room for her, and have vague love for her. He may never be that super loving and sweet brother, but he'd stick up for her if someone was hurting her. Her forcing the mom issue on him has created such a rift, but I CAN see them getting along, ish. Dinners, hanging out once every few months. Family gatherings. But never "sibling day out" or "lets get smoothies together and gossip." Epi being a mediator would be lovely, and he could even tell Aer when she's being too much. She'd be eager to listen, because she does want Pre to stop hating her. She just wants family. [8/30/2014 10:41:14 PM] Jinx: -nods- [8/30/2014 10:41:53 PM] Jinx: I think we need Epi and Pre roleplay, just to get a feel for their own relationship. From there we can probably backstory parts and roleplay the things we think are necessary [8/30/2014 10:42:28 PM] Jinx: That and roleplay with Aer and Epi talking about Aer and her brother are the two things I think they need before they can really advance properly [8/30/2014 10:42:37 PM] Jinx: The rest is all for feels [8/30/2014 10:42:49 PM] Yushika: Okay!

Ayame shrugged and started to walk away. "Oh well. You're probably just some rookie talking big anyway. Go home before you trip and hurt yourself." She sighed in an exaggerated, gust fashion. "There's no point if there's no challenge." [8/30/2014 11:17:32 PM] Yushika: His hands twitched, head turning to view the woman. Didn't she /know/ who he was? His winning streak? Sucking his teeth, he jerked his head away. No. He was done with that world and wasn't falling for her tr- God dammit why was he doing his running stretches?! [8/30/2014 11:22:03 PM] Jinx: Ayame stopped and turned, flapping a hand at him. "Oi, your enthusiasm is great and all, but if you don't have the skill to back it up you're only getting in the way. Go run laps on a practice course or something. Oh, but be careful not to trip on a rock and sprain something. Since you're so out of practice you probably don't remember how to take a fall properly." [8/30/2014 11:23:46 PM] Yushika: God dammit! Normally, he'd just walk away from such things, but that little hand flap… how demeaning! Cracking his shoulders, the male stood up and brushed past her, tilting his head slightly her way. "You done prattling, or are we going to race?" His voice held that old competitive edge to it, eyes sparkling just a bit more. Hell. He had sworn he was done with racing, but this chick was asking for it! Maybe after he won he'd show her who he was: Spencer! [8/30/2014 11:27:52 PM] Jinx: Ayame smirked inwardly, but kept her expression cool and blank as she gave the man in front of her a final push. "You want to race me? Look, that's flattering and all, but I don't take on amateurs. Like I said before, there's no point if you're not gonna be a challenge." [8/30/2014 11:29:23 PM] Yushika: Spencer turned around, suddenly shaking his head and clicking his tongue against his teeth. "Or do you remember the stories of the great Spencer and chickened out? Man, that sucks. Here you were, going on and on but instead you back out. Guess you're too afraid to race this 'our of practice' stud, huh?" [8/30/2014 11:39:21 PM] Jinx: Ayame craned her head like she was looking for something. "Stud? Where? What are you talking about? Your imagination is running away with you." She looked back at the male with a detached expression. "I don't put much stock in stories. People tend to exaggerate. Besides, anyone can claim to be Spencer and get away with it if no one personally knew him." She sank into a simple stretch, loosening the muscles in her legs. "Sounds to be like you're the one trying to chicken out by hiding behind bluster." [8/30/2014 11:42:33 PM] Yushika: The male gritted his teeth back at her, and then mimicked her hand waving. "Are we racing, or not? If you just want to throw little petty insults I can go and visit my friends teenage daughter, instead." Man, she was annoying as all hell, and he was going to teach her a lesson! Blood pumping and energy flowing, the male offered her a dismissive glance. "You sure you're up for this? It seems to be getting around your bedtime." [8/30/2014 11:47:41 PM] Jinx: "Brat," Ayame said in dispassionate tones as she continued her stretch. "Let's get this over with then. Wouldn't want you missing your curfew and getting in trouble." A grin played around her lips. Finished with her stretch, she moved over to the course she had been practicing on. It wasn't a straight run, there were lots of leaps, dodges, and even a short wall that needed to be scaled. She preferred getting her exercise in the mountains, but when the weather was so unfavorable this was an acceptable substitute. [8/30/2014 11:49:20 PM] Yushika: "Child." He snapped back, brushing back shoulder length hair and tying it up before moving to her side. "No funny business. No throwing things, pushing, or anything related. I've seen people die because of that." His tone took on a serious one before he slowly positioned himself for a leap. "You can count down. Slowly. 3 to 0." [8/30/2014 11:50:30 PM | Edited 11:50:38 PM] Jinx: (( XD She's older than him, which makes me cackle at their insults. )) [8/30/2014 11:53:08 PM] Yushika: (( Perfect, oh god. )) [8/30/2014 11:54:37 PM] Jinx: (( Why do I see them making cracks like him calling her old lady and her calling him a kid? )) [8/30/2014 11:59:30 PM] Yushika: (( Because Spencer WOULD. )) [8/31/2014 12:04:10 AM] Jinx: Ayame didn't even dignify that with a reaction, though several came to mind. What an irritating man. Didn't he know that winning under such conditions was hollow. Little punk. She'd probably been racing before the kid was even born. She was a lot older than she looked, but with her dedicated exercise regiment she was no where near the end of her prime. Her own grey hair was styled in a pixie cut so that it never got in her way. She sank into a crouch. "3. 2. 1. Race!" She sprang forward. She was tall and well-muscled for a woman or a runner. She didn't look like a body-builder either, but her physique combined with her height made most think twice about pissing her off. She used her long, powerful legs to her advantage, clearing leaps like it was effortless.

Subject: Erebus & Rosella
Shop: Modifoxes
[9/10/2014 3:35:19 PM] Yushika: Erebus grazed his fingers across the metal bracelet that adorned his wrist, black nails tapping against the metal. Jet black hair fell to his elbows, loosely tied back by a simple band in the middle, a hair-style he adopted from his father. Where was he? The woods, of course. Where else would he be? The city was a place he wasn't yet comfortable to wiggle into, despite how he claimed he simply hated the scent. He was afraid, in a way, to be stuck in a place he knew nothing of, without the safety of the trees. So here he was, curled up on a boulder and pulling his legs into his chest, pale fingers tapping against strong knees. He was well built, which is slightly tight t-shirt showed. Tall, as well, something he inherited from Sin, the male was probably more like his father than mother in all regards. Tch. That only reminded him how much of a disappointment he knew he happened to be, constantly hearing the words: "Calm down." "Stop being so violent." "You're being a fool by attacking everything that angers you." To be exact, he was more like Sin's younger years, full of anger he wasn't sure how to fix and a need to lash out at things that frightened him. His hands rubbed his head, a low, soft sigh escaping him. /********/ he was in a bad mood. The only idea he had to fix any of this was spar with someone, but Nyx had a mate and was busy frolicking with him, and Phanes was in absolutely no mood to at least mentally spar. She was far too depressed for that. Lamia and Sin were busy doing, ********…. like he knew. Like he /ever/ knew. And Silver was busy being a ******** d**k about /everything/. Dammit. [9/10/2014 4:10:48 PM] Jinx: Rosella was hunting. Not meat, but plants. Some were good for food, others were good for medicine. Sometimes she even used certain plants as bait, knowing that she could reach things some animals found choice but could not reach for themselves. That was a hit-and-miss strategy, so she preferred to put the plants to other uses for the most part. She kept a basic stock on hand at all times, but it was running low. Of course anytime she found anything useful it went into the bag on her hip. The bag was made of burlap, stained in a few places from all the plants that had been in it over the course of its existence and always smelling of herbs even after it was washed, deep and able to hold quite a bit. The bottom had a slight bulge to it, showing that Rosella had had some luck already today.
She didn't look at all like someone you'd except to see out foraging in the woods. Her hair, snowy white with blue tips, was cut short and spiked. She wore a white tank top with a somewhat feminine-looking skull emblazoned in bright pink and blue on the front. She wore jean pants, black and covered in rips around the knees and thigh, with pink and blue stripes that started in a regular pattern at the ankles and they went up the pattern became a little more random. Over the pants was a black skirt, dotted in more blue and pink, held up by a white belt that was accented in more black. She wore brown and white sneakers and had brown, finger-less gloves on her hand. Her nails looked sharp and well-cared for, but had no polish on them, nor did she wear any makeup. Her only other accessories was a series of bracelets on both wrists, mostly black and white but with spattering of pink and blue. Her skin was lightly tanned, indicating at least a moderate amount of time spent in the sun. Teal-colored eyes appeared all the brighter next to her skin and white hair. Strangest of all was a set of sharp canines poking out from her bottom lip, like upside-down vampire teeth.
She rounded a corner, heading to a place she was familiar with and had gathered from before, and instantly noticed a difference. These woods might be dark, but she wasn't so blind as to not notice when someone else was around, even when they were dressed to blend with shadows. Her eyes were hard and showed no sense of fear. She went on this route often and it was the best way to where she wanted to be. Some stranger wasn't going to prevent that. She looked past the stranger as though taking no more notice of him after that first glance, but all her senses were on alert. It was foolish to assume everyone you met would be friendly. [9/10/2014 4:11:02 PM] Jinx: Hair based on: http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/cd/51/3a/cd513aa23958c1ddd3ac43fa793717e1.jpg [9/10/2014 4:11:12 PM] Jinx: Clothes based on: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-m8MiV9heHx8/TbNp4jNto2I/AAAAAAAAAP8/IABZrauR75M/s1600/punk-girl-cg-channel-1.jpg [9/10/2014 4:13:25 PM] Jinx: (( Hopefully with the appearance part out of the way replies won't take me so long XD )) [9/10/2014 4:55:53 PM] Yushika: Erebus heard sounds, his head jerking up immediately and body freezing, limbs loose in case he needed to strike out. Black eyes hid within the shadows as he spotted the other, a female, fingers twitching against his bracelet before he slipped it off, placing it elsewhere for the time being. Without thinking, as he was an impulsive man (or brat, if you wanted to use Sin's terms), he used one hand to leap off the boulder, landing on his knees and hands in-front of the woman. "Who are you?" His gruff, deep voice vibrated as the tall male stood, a hand on his hip as he eyed the woman in /his/ forest. Cruor forest. Hell, This reminded him of the time Silver first came here. [9/10/2014 5:06:30 PM] Jinx: Rosella didn't back down, didn't even seem startled. Her expression and demeanor were both a calm that bordered on boredom, as though the man in front of her was nothing more than an inconvenient delay rather than an actual threat. Looks were deceiving though. The tells were in her posture, subtle things that you could only see if you were looking for them. How her feet were braced, posture perfectly balanced and compensating for the bag on her right hip. Her mother had been tall, her father just slightly above average, and she reflected that with a height of 5' 10". Taller than most women she met and easily on par with several men, but this stranger managed to tower above her. That didn't bother her though. Big or small, she'd still take him down if she had to.
"I'm me. Who else would I be," she asked in deadpan tones. It was impossible to tell if she was serious or mocking the man in front of her. [9/10/2014 5:13:15 PM] Yushika: His cold eyes looked down at her, unmoving. He had never been able to adopt that monotone way of life some of his family had, so that brief twitch of his eyebrow betrayed the irritated feeling he held."That isn't answering my question, stranger." [9/10/2014 5:20:54 PM] Jinx: "Oh, right. Well there's not much to tell. Been thinking of starting an autobiography, but I've been too busy with other things." She quirked an eyebrow up. "So if that's all will you excuse me now? Errands to run and all that. Gotta use the daylight while it's here." She shifted her posture slightly, still balanced, but moving a half-step closer as though she meant to simply walk past him. [9/10/2014 5:22:50 PM] Yushika: The male snorted briefly at the response. Right. A sarcastic one. He stepped in-front of her as she moved, an arm extended to block the path. "That is not a good idea." He mused back. Eying her with that inherited bird-like stare, the male glanced back at the woods, arm still raised. "The clan of foxes who live here tend to kill before asking questions, and they dislike intruders." [9/10/2014 5:26:37 PM] Jinx: She looked calmly at the arm blocking her path, then tilted her head back to look the stranger in the eye. "If you don't want to start something, I suggest you move your arm. You're in my way." Her voice was completely calm, like she was commenting on the weather, but there was no shortage of steel in her gaze that let the stranger no she wasn't making an idle threat. [9/10/2014 5:29:38 PM] Yushika: "Hm?" And then the challenge was offered. He couldn't help that little boy side of him going 'YES FINALLY PLEASE.' So. Despite all the training in the world he had, despite the lessons and careful talks, and despite the skills he clearly had, the male did one stupid thing. He simply raised one hand, and jabbed her in the shoulder. "I suggest you go home, girl." His tone became deadly, nursing a violent purr as the blood-lust settled in, something that would later cause the male to curl into a ball. He hated this side of him, and yet that wonderful little side of him that he had inherited didn't. It relished in the fact his blood was boiling and he was seeing red. It reminded him, carefully, that he was a ******** up little man. Just like daddy dearest. [9/10/2014 5:29:49 PM] Yushika: (( And now I discover Erebus actually has deep rooted issues )) [9/10/2014 5:32:34 PM] Jinx: (( Doesn't that whole family? XD ))
(( Also! Since there's going to be a fight, wanna get strengths and weaknesses out of the way? Just from his size I'm guessing he'll be stronger than her. Wasn't sure how you rank his speed and agility and such. )) [9/10/2014 5:33:08 PM] Yushika: (( YES OKAY SO. Let me type up his fighting style )) [9/10/2014 5:35:01 PM] Yushika: (( He's quick on his feet and /strong/, and usually very clever. But, he gets amped up. He gets impulsive, and while he can easily break a neck, he also can easily get overly excited and leap at the wrong time, leaving an opening. He also is emotional as hell, which will change once he…. gets better? But at the moment he has a lot of issues and is very emotional, so you can rile him up extremely easily and overwhelm the poor kid. Mention his father and he'll wind into a ******** panic and become very sloppy in battle. He also has an issue with not noticing his surroundings when really worked up. )) [9/10/2014 5:48:48 PM] Jinx: (( Rosella's fighting style is a bit mixed. Her father taught her boxing when she was young, and as she got older she took classes. She took Taekwondo and briefly dabbled in Savate before going with Muay Thai since she preferred being able to do more than kick. So she's pretty fast and light on her feet, and knows where to hit where it hurts most. She has a lot of strength that probably isn't apparent given her appearance, but likely she'll try to keep out of Erebus' reach since she knows he has strength advantage. At present she's thinking about enrolling in a couple other classes, but is only at beginner stages and won't use other styles. )) [9/10/2014 5:52:06 PM] Jinx: (( She's a brawler when you get down to it XD Though she tries to fight smart and is not easily distracted like Ere is. )) [9/10/2014 5:53:08 PM] Jinx: (( Also going to mostly roleplay a lot of this as intent, and you decide what hits, since I don't want it to be a lot of auto-hits. )) [9/10/2014 5:59:59 PM] Jinx: Quick as thought Rosella's hand came up. The back of her wrist hit the male's wrist and she used the momentum of her blow to shove his arm away. She didn't push far, not wanting her arm to get too far from her body. Once it reached about as far as her shoulder her arm curved down towards her side so she could get it into a fight stance. Simultaneously, even as her wrist hit the strangers, her leg came forward. Since she took that half-step her stance had widened. That meant more ground to cover, but if her knee struck there would be a lot more force behind it. And she /was/ striking with her knee, not her leg or foot. The force of the blow would still be strong, if not stronger than if spread out over the area of her leg, and recovery would be easier than if she was hoping to land a blow with her foot. Balance was crucial in a fight. [9/10/2014 8:15:06 PM] Jinx: (( Got distracted? )) [9/10/2014 10:09:50 PM] Yushika: (( Fighting with -gasp- Jynk. And her twin. )) [9/10/2014 10:10:38 PM] Jinx: (( Ugh. I don't know why you bother with 'em at this point. Not that I know her twin that well, but she sounds as annoying as her sister. )) [9/10/2014 10:15:15 PM] Yushika: (( I know…. Just… stubborn. So stubborn. And the shop means a lot. I always wanted to run a shop. )) [9/10/2014 10:15:25 PM] Yushika: (( I'm an idiot, basically. )) [9/10/2014 10:23:51 PM] Jinx: (( Well they're also being extraordinary assholes about a lot of things. )) [9/10/2014 10:28:07 PM] Yushika: (( Yeah… )) [9/10/2014 10:46:36 PM] Jinx: (( We can try to pick the roleplay up another day. Is it interesting you so far? )) [9/10/2014 10:47:02 PM] Yushika: (( Nah I'll respond now. And yes! )) [9/10/2014 10:47:35 PM] Jinx: (( I'm curious to see where it goes. We never did more than talk about 'em as a possible match, so this is all new : 3 )) [9/10/2014 11:03:59 PM] Yushika: He hadn't expected the movement, briefly stumbling before his training kicked in. He actually managed to dodge the kick, dodging to the ground and immediately reaching up, attempting to use he momentum to push the kicked leg and send her to the ground. He had learned that tripping an opponent was always the first thing he should attempt, and dammit, he was going to do it. He could already tell she was a fast one, and would be driving him insane. [9/10/2014 11:19:16 PM] Jinx: Rosella hasn't quite stopped moving when the stranger dodged her kick, but that part didn't bother her. She rarely put her full weight into something unless she was either positive it would connect or completely desperate. He didn't move completely out of the way though, going down to the ground and twisting to avoid the path her leg was on. His hands flew out and smacked into her leg. Rather than fight it to try and get back into stance, she used her standing leg and leapt in the direction the man had pushed her. Her kicking leg, still bent to deliver a blow with the knee, snapped out as she tried to kick the man with her foot. She didn't have high hopes it would connect since the leg wasn't pointing in the direction she was leaping. Though she moved it around to face the proper direction before she kicked, it wouldn't have the same force and if the guy was any kind smart he could dodge by ducking or leaning far back. She was hoping his reflexes would be a little slow though.
She landed on the ground, standing leg hitting first as she skidded back a bit, raising a small cloud of dust. Not much grew around the floor of this forest, not unless you could find the rare spots where trees had fallen to let light down. The leg she'd used for kicking soon touched the ground and she worked on setting her stance again. Her balance wasn't where she'd like it to be yet, but she doubted the man could rush her from his position on the ground and even if he did her arms were more than ready to deliver a punch. [9/10/2014 11:59:23 PM] Yushika: Again, she missed, however he had managed another stumble. ********, he hadn't expected her to be /good/ at this. He stepped back, bending his knees and preparing to either leap away or send a blow at her. He wasn't about to make the first move, dark eyes analyzing her every move. His heart pounded, temper flaring as slowly he felt that mood kick in. That desire to break something. That primal need that he had inherited and was so ashamed of. And then, without even thinking, he leapt at her, a feral growl escaping his throat as he clearly made an effort to knock her over. [9/11/2014 12:01:48 AM] Jinx: (( How balanced was his leap? Was it all-or-nothing or is he holding back so he can dodge a hit? )) [9/11/2014 12:02:37 AM] Yushika: (( Holding back just a bit. It's ingrained in him. )) [9/11/2014 12:06:43 AM] Jinx: (( How exactly is he coming at her? Like punch, kick, arms extended, body slam, etc? )) [9/11/2014 12:07:52 AM] Yushika: (( Body slam. )) [9/11/2014 12:08:55 AM] Jinx: (( It okay if she gets a hit or you want me to make it vague so you can decide? )) [9/11/2014 12:10:38 AM] Yushika: (( Yes make her hit or anything. I'm assuming he doesn't get to knock her over. )) [9/11/2014 12:15:43 AM] Jinx: Rosella felt annoyed. The man was persistent and he seemed strong enough, but he seemed to be fueled by pointless rage. It was highly irritating to be held up by something like this. Rather than dodge she came right at the man. She feigned moving straight for him, arm raising slightly as though she meant to hit him. At the last second she pivoted to the side and brought her leg up, slamming it into his lower back as her momentum carried her past him. She worked to get her footing back under her. She knew she'd got a good, solid connection, but the guy was big. She didn't know whether the one hit would take him down, but if it did then he was far weaker than he looked. She wasn't sure about his stance; it could knock him down to the ground, or just cause him to stumble. She didn't know anything about his recovery abilities, but this would at least give her a clue. Whatever happened, she knew she wanted to be ready in case he exceeded all her expectations and came right after her. His size would likely give him an advantage in a grappling match, assuming he was any good. [9/11/2014 12:25:11 AM] Yushika: She had managed to make him stop moving forward at least, but he didn't fall. He stumbled and hit the ground without grace, but remained on his feet. Quickly, he rebounded, immediately moving to the side and aiming for her back this time, whipping a leg back for a kick to the back of her knees. His strategy was either to knock her down and pin her to the ground, or knock her out completely. [9/11/2014 12:36:11 AM] Jinx: She was facing the man thanks to the pivot she'd had to do to land the blow to his back. She saw the kick coming and made a decision. It was risky, but she gave it a shot anyway. Rather than jumping back and dodging his sweeping kick she fell to the ground...and planting her hands firmly on the ground she spun her body, keeping as low as she could, attempting to duck under the kick, while her leg was straight out, aiming a sweeping kick at the man's standing leg. With him in the middle of his own kick his balance would be off and he likely wouldn't be able to react in time. [9/11/2014 12:37:41 AM] Yushika: And then it happened, he fell. A grunt followed and he scampered to pull himself back up in time, but her kick had sent him right to the ground. A feral snarl escaped him as he made a move to get back up before she attacked, arms crossed to block his face should she attack him during the process. [9/11/2014 12:42:45 AM] Jinx: (( Twitchy kitten dreams... So cute! )) [9/11/2014 12:42:54 AM] Yushika: (( Dawww )) [9/11/2014 12:43:40 AM] Jinx: (( AND NOW A LITTLE BABY TONGUE POKING OUT OF HIS MOUTH. TOO MUCH CUTE OR THIS POST. -tries to ignore and make Muse write- )) [9/11/2014 12:49:02 AM] Jinx: Rosella used what movement she had and shoved with her arms, pushing herself up off the ground. She quickly got her feet under her and skipped back a step. She wish she could have taken advantage of the male's fall, but that kind of kick was meant more to knock the opponent down. It rarely left the user in a position to make a follow-up attack, given how low to the ground it was and how much power went behind it in the first place. No, she'd have to be satisfied that she bought herself time to get back up and sink back into a ready stance. If she was lucky it would have knocked the wind out of the guy, at least a little.
"Hmph." She let a bit of her disdain show on her face. "Your balance is way off. Do you go attacking everything you see, like some berserker? I can't think much of this 'group of killers' if this is how they taught you to fight." Her words were calm, observations rather than mocking, though some of the disdain on her face probably leaked into her voice. She wasn't sure which one of them would win though, to be honest. She was obviously more skilled, or at least more disciplined, but this guy seemed to have good endurance if nothing else. As she spoke her eyes roamed his body, watching how he moved and looking for any weakness she could use. If she had to close with him again she'd try to get a good hit with her elbow to his shoulder. If she could immobilize, or at the very least weaken, his arms, the fight would instantly tip in her favor. She had no doubt that of the two of them her leg work was better, given what she'd observed so far. [9/11/2014 1:00:13 AM] Jinx: (( Lemme know whenever you're ready to stop for the night. )) [9/11/2014 1:03:14 AM] Yushika: He grunted in response, eyes flicking up and locking on her. Calmly, he stood, relaxing every single muscle and cracking his neck. "I'm not like the others. I'm the failure, so I guess you're lucky." He admitted, never one for lies. Failure or not, he was still strong. "I'm the emotional one. The one who lashes out too fast." He shrugged absently, eyebrow cocking at her. "I suppose the merciful one, since I'm fighting a complete ******** stranger to prevent her from entering the woods and having her limbs torn off." Sucking his teeth, the male twitched once more, slowly trying to calm down. ********. That blood lust, that familiar need that pooled in his chest. ******** genetics. [9/11/2014 1:14:08 AM] Jinx: Rosella's expression didn't change. There was no way to tell exactly what she was thinking. "I've taken my chances before this. If I get caught them it's my problem. I didn't need a babysitter." The last sentence held a hint of annoyance, though it didn't show in her face. Her eyes were alert, watching the male's face and body. She wasn't an expert, but she could spot most tells that would signal an attack. She didn't trust this stranger to back off, not just yet. She spared a brief moment of though to wish she was better dressed for a fight, but let that regret go as quick as it had come. "If I might be excused now," she asked, a hint of sarcasm in her voice. He scowled at the woman, brushing hair from his face and quickly undoing his ponytail before slipping it back into place, correct stray strands. Shrugging at the woman, he glanced over at her, head shaking. "If you want to get something so bad then I'm coming with. I rather not have to deal with the after math when you're found." [9/13/2014 5:02:39 PM] Jinx: Rosella sighed softly. For a brief second something shimmered in the air behind her. It was faint, like the shadow of a shadow, and only certain eyes could see it. The flick of a tail. It would look odd even to those used to seeing such things though, because it was more than just one tail. "I honestly have no clue what kind of game you're trying to play. It's like meeting Dum or Dee. You don't have a twin, do you?"
She shook her head, not expecting an answer. She was a fan of manga, though she didn't put that out there much. This guy reminded her of the Bloody Twins, like some mass-murdering gatekeeper. With that in mind, though she patted the bag at her side and made sure her sense of direction was correct, she kept a close watch on the stranger and made sure to keep her body in a semi-ready stance. "Well come on then, if you're following." She set off. She didn't go completely into the dark forest. Really she didn't go far in this place at all. It was too dark for much besides certain kinds of fungi. It was just between her and the lighter areas she was heading for, and it was easier to pass through the small section rather than go around. [9/13/2014 5:08:19 PM] Yushika: He caught that odd flick, blinking. Two? His own tail snapped to the side, and then a slow smirk crossed his face. "Nah." He mused back, a hand waving. "They're too childish, anyway." Why yes, he knew manga. He had once found a few manga's but they had vanished. He suspected one of Nyx's kids had taken them when they were little, Eisheth had been known to be taken to art. Clicking his tongue, the male kept a distance from her. Erebus didn't speak much, especially after a blood lust. He was tense, mouth tight as he grit his teeth together. ********. He still felt shaky from the recent fight, hands gripping his shoulders to remind himself that right that minute he was /okay/. He wasn't his father. He wasn't anyone but himself at that very second. His sarcastic, temperamental self. Clearing his throat, the dark male cast a glance at the woman. "If you smell lavender tell me." [9/13/2014 5:13:25 PM] Jinx: "You won't find any of that here. Too dark," she replied automatically. Not that she was any kind of gardener herself, but you tended to pick things up from foraging. She also owned a few books, mostly to help with identification and uses, but she hadn't needed to open them in a while. Already watching him from the corner of her eyes, she lifted an eyebrow. What did this person need with lavender anyway? [9/13/2014 5:15:15 PM] Yushika: "Not that." He mused back, shrugging. She wouldn't know, anyway. Lavender was the scent most of his uncle's children, and he knew that his uncle was most likely to be prowling around at this time of night. Which also meant his father would be close by. His uncle never went anywhere without his father being near. Erebus had inherited Sin's inability to smell, and he was sure that overbearing scent would reach the other's nose should they come across the pair. [9/13/2014 5:24:33 PM] Jinx: Rosella mentally shrugged off the words. She didn't expect to smell anything like lavender around here anyway. She never had before. This guy was probably thinking of some other kind of plant, but if he couldn't figure it out on his own then that was his problem.
She was content to let the walk pass in silence, having never been one for idle chatter. Probably something she got from her mother, since her father never stopped talking. All that could be heard was the faint brush of cloth against cloth from where the rough bag brushed against her outer thigh. Some people found her quietness to be disconcerting at times. When others might be buzzing with questions, she just moved on with whatever she'd been doing. It wasn't that she couldn't be inquisitive, but trivial things didn't mean much to her. All she really noticed was that her joints were still a little sore from all the shocks of their fight and that the attention she could have placed on watching for interesting things had to be divided because she didn't really trust this person to behave. It was mildly surprising that he'd seemed to get her reference, but at least she hadn't had to explain. That was nice.
_____________
I figure mostly he can just silently follow her [9/15/2014 2:31:58 PM] Jinx: Maybe some days he demands a fight, when he's feeling restless, but uses the excuse that he wants to make sure no weaklings are entering the forest or something like that [9/15/2014 2:33:03 PM] Jinx: I dunno how those fights would go. Maybe mostly draws. They both stop at outright beating the other and then continue on with the walk, like some odd tradition [9/15/2014 2:33:12 PM] Yushika: YESSSS [9/15/2014 2:33:35 PM] Yushika: Though he will feel bad when he goes overboard and into the blood lust [9/15/2014 2:38:00 PM] Jinx: Rosella would likely roll her eyes at that. Liiiike:
She gave a soft snort and tossed her head, short hair falling ever so slight into her face from where it had gotten mussed up from the fight, rolling her eyes. "After all these fights, now you want to show regret. If you can't stand by what you've done, what the hell is the point. Be a man, already." She shrugged and ran a hand through her hair, pushing it out of her face. "I should have moved faster, that's all. If it bothers you so much, then next time we fight I'll be sure to mark you too." [9/15/2014 2:41:14 PM] Yushika: And he'd just growl and respond with:
"Watch your tongue." He groaned, rubbing at his face with a low sigh. "It isn't that simple, woman." What would she know? She wasn't plagued with this…. curse? That's what he'd like to call it, but he was sure Sin just had something ******** up in his brain that passed onto Erebus. The twins didn't seem to have it, and he didn't know about Phrixos. He was busy with his woman, anyway. Frustrated, the long haired male groaned again. "It has nothing to do with being a man." [9/15/2014 2:50:25 PM] Jinx: She placed her hands on her hips, ignoring the mess of her left arm. The scratches were shallow and had already stopped bleeding, but they'd covered her arm in a web of crimson before then. "Well then figure out what it is and get a grip on it." She frowned. Her frowns always looked scarier than they were meant to, because of her strange bottom canine teeth, but she doubted he was at all intimidated. "Honestly you could be so much better. You /should/ be. You just keep making these wild mistakes. I'm not saying they don't help you on occasion-," her eyes briefly glanced at her arm, "-but mostly they just leave you wide open and allow me to kick your butt." [9/15/2014 3:01:43 PM] Yushika: "Would if I could." Erebus hissed back, not amused at her know-it-all attitude about this issue. And then he snapped, black eyes flicking to glower at her and teeth baring, hands extending to point at her arm. "Wanna know how you got that?" He lowly snarled, seeing red once more. /********/. He withdrew into himself, hands rubbing at his temples as he slumped to the ground. "I can't help being wild. I can't help my temper. My father has an issue. I inherited it. I can't control it as well as he can." [9/15/2014 3:02:53 PM] Yushika: (( Sorry. He's really frustrated :c )) [9/15/2014 3:14:45 PM] Jinx: Rosella made a soft hmph sound. "I got this because I was careless. You don't get to take the blame for it, because I'm going to use my mistake and make myself stronger." She eyed him for a second and decided he was probably gonna sit like that for a while. She went to where she hung her bag on a tree. It was something she did now, knowing people were probably in the forest who wanted to pick fights. She took her bracelets off and stowed them in the bag along with whatever else she had, so she could just set it to the side and keep it out of her way. She reached in and dug around until her fingers touched cool metal. She pulled out a flask and opened the top, and began to carefully wash the blood off her arm. She didn't want to open the cuts again so her arm was still a bit bloody-looking around the cuts, but it looked much better than it had before. She screwed the top on the half-empty canteen and put it back in the bag.
"You can't grow if you're convinced everything that happens to you is beyond your power to correct," she said, as though continuing the conversation on her own abilities. "I've been practicing how to fight for almost my whole life, and I still am not good enough." She frowned and lightly probed the stratch. At least it wasn't in too inconvenient of a spot. It should give her no trouble after she bandaged it. [9/15/2014 3:18:26 PM] Yushika: Erebus listened to her move, quietly lifting his eyed to view her cleaning her wounds. During their times together the male had grown somewhat used to her, and perhaps had a slight fondness for her. It was nice having company that wasn't constantly rattling questions, like Silver. The male shook his head, sending a hateful glare to the dirt by his feet.
"I've tried since I was a child. I snap. Things turn red, I need to hurt someone. My father explained it as blood lust, and it took him the better half of his life to shut it off. By then he'd already…." And then he stopped, mouth slamming shut. By then his father had murdered countless innocents. His blood ran cold, skin turning an unhealthy pale as he curled his legs back into himself, murmuring against cloth. "Is your arm okay?" [9/15/2014 3:30:38 PM] Jinx: Rosella held up her arm. Water dripped from the tips of her fingers. She shook her hand, flicking them off, and lowered her arm. "Hardly more than an inconvenience. I couldn't avoid the hit, but I was pulling back so the blow didn't land as hard as it might have." She idlely wondered if she should start bringing bandages with her on her outtings. It wasn't like they fought all the time, but things still happened. She had plenty of herbs at home she could use to disinfect it later, but nothing on her at the moment.
"Maybe you should try yoga. I hear that's good for temper." She ran a hand through her hair again. "Or a defensive martial art class. I was looking into a few back home. You know, something controlled and disciplined that involves avoiding damage rather than inflicting it." She shrugged. "It never hurts to know several styles, even if you only ever use the moves once or twice while fighting." [9/15/2014 3:33:07 PM] Yushika: He eyed the wound, reaching out and slowly, carefully, tapping his fingers over her arm. "I know herbs that can fix that. My cousin taught me years ago." He seemed vaguely apologetic, though his pride stood in the way. Black eyes did gaze at her with a brief sadness. He wanted a fight, yes, but he feared the day he couldn't snap out of it and ended this woman's life. That was the last thing he wanted.
Her suggestion left him quiet, and than he twitched. That'd mean leaving the forest. His tail flicked violently, a nervous tic. "I assume the classes are in the city, mm?" [9/15/2014 3:43:28 PM] Jinx: Rosella nodded. "Mostly downtown. I've been going to a community center. It's a little run-down, but it's not in too bad a part of the neighborhood. Kids hang out there and sometimes adults go there for workouts. They've got a few regular instructors who do classes, then sometimes guest instructors come in and do special classes. This would be one of those special classes. I don't recognize the name of the sensei, but I've been told he's pretty good at what he does. I figure if I find the classes interesting I'll see if he's got a dojo or something and continue into more advanced lessons." That was probably the most she'd ever said at one time, but the silence that filled the air between them didn't feel awkward. She'd come to learn that neither was particularly chatty. [9/18/2014 7:40:21 PM] Yushika: He frowned, not exactly pleased by the "downtown" bit. Shrugging absently, the male twitched his tail. "I don't like the city." He admitted, deep voice vibrating in disgust. "Too much cement, and the smell of toxins." His parents didn't approach the city much, especially Sin. Sin had spent too long trying to convince the children the city was a disgusting place, and Erebus had left with a healthy disgust for it. [9/18/2014 8:04:53 PM] Jinx: Rosella wasn't much surprised. She'd never encountered him anywhere outside this forest of eternal twilight. She was pretty sure anything that involved people or direct lighting would make him hiss and scuttle for cover like an old-fashion vampire. He even looked a bit like one...
She gave the scratches on her arm a misgiving look, but quickly dismissed her thoughts as fanciful and just plain silly.
"It's not all bad," was all she said. Truthfully she was of mixed minds on cities. She liked visiting. She knew all sorts of places and could go find venues to suit her mood. There was always a lot of variety. Still it was a bit busy. That was why she lived outside of it, in her simple little cottage-like house at the forest edge. Not this forest, one a bit more open with light. If she had to guess her house was almost inbetween this dark forest and the city.
"Probably for the best. If I brought you with me and you lost control of your temper, they might kick me out. I like that place, it's convenient." She sighed softly, at a loss. "Well, do whatever you think you need to. Sorry for sticking my nose in when you didn't even ask."

Rosella's feet fell quietly on the forest floor. She was learning to walk far more silently. Not that she'd ever been loud or blundering to start with, but as her ghosting ability improved she'd had to admit that she hadn't been as good as she could have been. She kept an eye out on her surroundings. It was around this point that she usually ran into Erebus if he was going to show up. He never appeared towards the beginning of her journeys, and she noticed that when she reached a certain point towards the end that if she hadn't seem him he wouldn't show. She wasn't sure if it was conscious or subconscious, but he just never appeared when she was close to the forest edge.
If she hadn't been looking she would have missed it. A shadowy smudge buried in the shadows of the forest. It was enough to make her slow, her feet directing her towards the sight so that she could see better. The shape resolved slowly. It was indeed Erebus. His dark clothes and dark hair made him difficult to pick out sometimes. Rosella frowned and moved a bit closer. Something was just off. She approached slowly, staring. Suddenly her eyes made sense of what she was seeing, and her pace instantly picked up. She hadn't immediately recognized Erebus because his body was bent in a way she had never seen before, huddled and twisted in ways that didn't look healthy. The copper stink of blood hit her in the face as she neared.
Once at his side Rosella dropped into a squat, balancing on the balls of her feet as she looked Erebus over. She could see his chest rise and fall, though the movement looked too shallow and labored. His hair was splayed messily across his face rather than pulled back in the usual neat tail. She could see cuts and the beginnings of bruises blooming against his pale skin, but he was so liberally splashed with blood both dry and still damp that it was not much of his skin was visible at all. It took her only seconds to see all of this. She bit her lower lip, not liking the implications, then released her lip and sighed. "Damn," she said softly, voice calm and matter-of-fact but tinged with worry. "Something really ******** you over. Hope the other guy looks as bad." [10/13/2014 4:56:38 PM] Yushika: He barely remembered how it happened. He had been moving to protect someone. A woman. Her glowing eyes hadn't held fear, and yet he couldn't stop himself at that moment from reaching out and shoving her out of reach of the large, dark-haired man. Faint memories of the woman hissing an insult and the man cursing flickered within his brain, yet nothing was solid. Nothing explained the agony he had endured, or the flashes of red he kept seeing whenever he tried to remember.
He remembered hiding, crawling weakly into the darker parts of the forest and curling up within himself, limbs protesting, probably either broken or damaged. He had been numb, his tail curled into his body, trying to somehow protect the broken body it belonged to. His breath was ragged, struggling to keep a rhythm as black eyes grew dim. By the time he had realized someone was near him it was too late, his sight growing darker by the minute. This wasn't a memory. This was reality. He was awake, or as close as it as he could get.
"Hnnn." He moaned in response, her words melding together, unable to be understood. The long-haired male weakly tossed a hand at her, missing and limply falling back to the ground. "Get the ******** away." He whimpered, a sound so unlike him. "Trash. b***h." He coughed, blood escaping his mouth and legs curling feebly into himself. ********. She needed to get away. Was the monster still here? Was he watching them, waiting? "Not safe. Go."
[10/13/2014 5:00:53 PM] Jinx: (( They forest is mostly coniferous, right? )) [10/13/2014 5:01:21 PM] Yushika: (( Yes. )) [10/13/2014 5:09:44 PM] Jinx: Rosella ignored his words (she usually did anyway) and took a moment to look at their surroundings. This piece of forest looked the same as all the rest. Thick coniferous trees, looking like so many irritated animals with their puffs of sharp needles sticking out. It was always dark here, the little light that managed to filter through all the layers of needles didn't make a huge difference. The whole place smelled musty, either damp or dried up foliage mixing with subtle pine tones. All her senses were on alert, but there was nothing. That didn't mean it would stay so though. They weren't the only creatures here who moved like ghosts.
She turned her focus back to Erebus, wondering if he could move. He looked broken, but just how much so? "Anything important broken, or can you stand? If anything's still bleeding let me see so I can tape it up. Better if we don't leave a blood trail." She rummaged in the pouch she carried at her waist, digging for the bandages she kept there. [10/13/2014 5:22:19 PM] Yushika: Erebus hissed at her, a feral sound. Even now, he felt that savage blood lust, wanting nothing more than to tear out her throat. He wasn't weak. He didn't need her, or anyone for that damn matter. If he was going to die he didn't want her to interfere. He obviously was too weak for this world, might as well bleed out.
And yet he squirmed closer, his instinct to survive biting through that rapidly increasing fear. She was seeing his broken, and it terrified him. Yet, still, his arm weakly raised, exposing a gaping wound. A hand lifted his shirt, revealing a torn side and destroyed chest. Black eyes demonstrated a fear, raw and animalistic as he watched her. "Leg." He croaked. "I can't move it." He admitted, unaware that he had broken the lower half of it. It was heavy, he knew this, but he had yet to glance down at it. He watched her, placing the hand that had exposed his chest on her arm. "Hurry." He demanded, eyes frantically flicking around to ensure the beast wasn't here. [10/13/2014 5:39:11 PM] Jinx: (( If she pulls him up will he be able to stand on his good leg, or will he just instantly crumple? Or will he be unable to stand at all she if she pulls she'll just end up dumping him on his face? )) [10/13/2014 5:40:13 PM] Yushika: (( He'll support himself on his good leg, as long as she supports his bad side. )) [10/13/2014 5:46:14 PM] Jinx: "This is going to hurt," she warned, then got to work. She tried her best to be gentle and jostle his wounds as little as possible. She knew he would thank her for taking that kind of care, rather he would likely just curse at her some more. She wove the bandage deftly around his chest, using both rolls she had with her. She would have liked to have had more. If there was something broken inside the bandaging would have helped to hold it still while she moved him, but she couldn't do that and still apply appropriate pressure to the wounds. She'd had to skimp a bit on both; it would be useless to stop the bleeding if a cracked or broken rib got jostled and stabbed something internal. Anyway, if her mental calculations were correct, he wouldn't bleed through the bandage until they were well out of the forest and close to her house, and then the bleeding would likely be so slow that they could easily get to her house and it's more abundant access of supplies.
"That'll do," she said, closing her pouch with blood-stained hands as she straightened up. She reached down and grasped the wrist of the healthiest-looking arm. "Ready? 1... 2... 3!" Grunting with the effort, she braced herself and pulled. She carefully controlled her strength, trying to act like a line of tension rather than a separate force. She didn't want to make any of his wounds worse by moving him too suddenly. As soon as he was on his good leg she braced his weight with her body. It wasn't even his weight that made the task difficult, it was controlling her strength to be exactly what was needed and no more to prevent causing further injury. She ducked under his arm on the side of his bad leg, easing her support away from his body so that he could catch himself on his good side while she took all his weight on his bad side. Briefly she took a moment to thank the deities that she was so tall, or this would be way more difficult and painful. "Can you move?" [10/13/2014 5:59:19 PM] Yushika: He knew it'd hurt before she spoke, gritting his teeth immediately. And she was right, it /did/ hurt, leaving a horrific shudder down his spine and a curse masked behind clenched teeth. He barely had time to respond when suddenly she touched his arm and urged him to move. He managed to stand, stumbling into her, and almost falling when he made the mistake of trying to catch himself with his broken leg. A quick cry of pain was cut off as he forced his mouth shut, trembling violently as she eased herself onto his bad side. He felt weak, about to faint any second.
No. He had to stay awake. She was taking him somewhere, and to hell was he going to be useless the entire way. His head fell, unable to stop himself from putting most of his weight on her, the trembling continuing. "Mm." He grunted back affirmatively. He could move, for now. He wasn't going to allow himself to let this woman carry him the entire way, hell no. [10/13/2014 6:04:56 PM] Jinx: (( Think he'll make it the whole way or will his leg give out at some point? )) [10/13/2014 6:05:20 PM] Yushika: (( He'll probably faint eventually, tbh )) [10/13/2014 6:26:58 PM] Jinx: Rosella's teal eyes darkened slightly, expression unreadable as she looked at Erebus. "Warn me if you're about to fall," she said, then placing gentle pressure against his back she steered him in the direction of home and took the first step.
The little cottage that sat by itself at the edge of the woods looked very storybook-esque. The forest at its back was also largely coniferous, tall giants that cast the ground beneath in eternal dusk. The spaces between the trunks were wide, little aside from scraggly bushes and vines growing there in the sparse light. It did not give off a dark aura though. The air beneath those pines was ancient and spoke of the passage of time. The chattering of squirrels and birds could be heard echoing throughout the air. The clearing where the house sat had once been part of the forest as well, long ago, before a terrible storm had rolled through and knocked down several of the pine giants. They had long since rotted away, allowing grass and flowers to spring up in the open space. A herd of deer grazed in the meadow by the forest edge. It was a peaceful place. For some.
Rosella kicked the door of her cottage open, the calm of the warm afternoon sunlight lost on her. "-old you to tell me if you were about to fall, damn it," bounced the savage mutterings off the stone walls. With a soft grunt Rosella deposited Erebus on her bed, the only one in the cottage, and turned to head right back outside, pausing only to grab a bucket. She went to the water pump and filled the bucket, then returned with it inside. She took a moment to poke the fire up, then started hunting down supplies. Soon the bucket at her side was so bloody she had to dump it out and get a new one. Erebus looked better without all that blood over him, but it revealed just how banged up he was. Taking advantage of his unconscious state she tended his wounds throughout the rest of the afternoon and well into evening twilight. Sighing with exhaustion she stepped back to survey her work. Erebus was covered in bandages, the most prominent ones being on his chest and left leg. He actually looked a bit worse than he was, since she had dipped bandages in a concoction she made for bruises and wrapped it around the worse-off ones to help them heal faster. The sharp, pungent oder of herbs hung about him. She bent down and gathered up his clothes, tossing them in a stout barrel and lighting up the copper boiler beneath it. Once she was sure it was ready she turned a knob, releasing hot water into the barrel. While it filled she tossed in some herbs that would help removed the scent, glad that Erebus largely wore black clothing. She turned off the stream of water and extinguished the fire in the boiler. Adding her own blood-stained clothing to the water, she climbed up a vertical ladder to the cottage's loft to grab a spare outfit. [10/13/2014 6:54:11 PM] Yushika: Of course he fainted, despite how desperately he hadn't wanted to be a burden, or weak. They had been halfway there and then everything went dark, mouth unable to create the warning she had desired. He was out the entire time she patched him up, vaguely hearing the sound of water.
He groaned lowly, black eyes fluttering open, slamming shut immediately. /********/, his head hurt. Hell, his body ******** hurt. He made a move to get up, groaning loudly and flopping back down. Mistake. ********…. why was he so restricted? Ah. bandages. And where the hell was he? Rose had brought him here, right? He remembered that much… Groaning once more, the male tested his bandages, wincing briefly. Well, he'd never make fun of her healing abilities, huh? [10/13/2014 7:12:20 PM] Jinx: "Awake? Well keep your a** in bed. I didn't haul you here just so you could try to stand on a busted leg and crack your head open on my floor when you fell." Rosella came sliding down from the loft, squeezing the rail and applying some pressure with her feet to slow her descent, then hopping lightly to the floor. She walked over to the steaming vat of water and pulling a paddled made of carved wood from the wall, poking at the contents. "Hope you don't mind that I stripped you. I promise it was all purely for medical purposes." She stirred at the barrel, a pleasant floral aroma wafting up with the warm mist from the water's surface.
"Need anything? Food, water, pain fighters. Directions to the bathroom?" [10/13/2014 7:12:53 PM] Jinx: (( Oh yea, Ere is currently in his skivvies only XD )) [10/13/2014 7:20:14 PM] Yushika: And then he realized she had stripped him. The pale male's cheeks turned bright red, head turning away from her. Then she saw the scars, probably. He sucked his teeth, humming in response. "I'm fine." He stated, his tail tiredly resting over his hip. "Where did you put my clothes?" [10/13/2014 7:33:44 PM] Jinx: She dipped the stick in the barrel and fished around, then lifted up a very sodden piece of black clothing. Probably his shirt, though she wondered if the garment was worth saving. It had taken quite a bit of damage itself. He wasn't looking at her, but he could probably hear the splashing and dripping. She lowered it back into the water and continued stirring. "Not sure if you remember, but you were covered in blood. Quite a bit." She let go of the stick and lifted the hem of her plain, dark brown shirt, one she wore for house and garden work, turning her back to Erebus and hiking the shirt up around her shoulders so he could see her entire back, craning her own head around to look. She'd been wearing her usual tank top (also in the barrel), so when she'd had to carry Erebus on her back she'd gotten a lot of his blood on her. Most of her was covered with smears, even her legs. She'd wiped away the worst of it, but in anticipation of getting messy again while cleaning, she'd left most of the stuff covered by her clothing just dry. She'd bathe later. Large splotches of dried red covered her lower back, with a few smaller smears around her shoulders. She let her shirt fall and turned back around.
"I had to get at your wounds anyway, so I'm just washing everything." She raised an eyebrow. "If you're worried I peeked, don't. Like I said, purely medical. [10/13/2014 8:20:21 PM] Yushika: He turned to view her back, wincing briefly. Weak. He had bled that much? What use was he if he was just draining liquid and fainting everywhere? He snorted slightly, a lazy smirk crossing his features.
"You don't seem the type to peek." He mused dryly, a deep and raspy cough escaping him. The male winced, hands raising slowly to his hands, nails digging through loose hair. ********, his head hurt like a b***h! He squirmed, turning his back to her (and wincing in response, but he was too stubborn to turn back over). ********. ******** ******** ******** 8:42:37 PM] Jinx: Rosella chuckled. "Disappointed," she asked, propping the paddle in a corner and moving over to the stove. She lived too far away for electricity or plumbing, so everything in the cottage had that feeling of oldness, like stepping back in time. It fit with the feel from the forest, and she rather liked living this way. It felt simpler. In any case, her love of the solitude this place gave her trumped any lure of "civilization" that could be gained from moving closer to other people. She was saving up to buy some supplies to tap into her water pump and run a line right into the house. It would be nice not to have to go outside for water, though she did have rain collectors.
She nabbed an old black pot sitting on the stove and moved over to the fire, hanging it up with a quick ease that spoke of a lot of practice. She grabbed a bucket (a different one, meant for food rather than cleaning!) and went out to get water. She had to make three trips, and had a little water left over in the bottom of the bucket once the cauldron was full. That done she began moving around the cottage, putting out vegetables and dried meat, cutting and peeling and adding things to the soup forming above the fire.
"It's not really fancy or impressive. Most people would think this place is hardly more than a vacation hut for a crappy camping adventure." Rosella shrugged. "Still, it's home." She wasn't sure what Erebus was used to. Given some of his comments it sounds like he and his family lived just out in the woods, but you never knew. She wasn't even sure why she was bringing the topic up, except that Erebus would be here at least a week while his leg healed and she wanted to prepare him for any nasty surprises he might get if he was used to living better.
Erebus flicked his eyes to Rosella, head shaking quietly. "No." His low voice rumbled back, not offering any response after. Black eyes slowly closed, hands reaching up to fold behind him, but not without minimal discomfort. The man seemed uncomfortable, and he was. This was a strangers house, and he had been taught well. Still, it was /Rosella/, and she…. wasn't a threat. He wasn't an idiot, he still was tense around her and ready to snap her neck if she ever switched on him, but for the time being her body posture read neutral. Besides, he wasn't as uptight as his father was. Why would Rosella put up with his behavior for so long if she had intentions to harm him? She could have offed him while he was unconscious, too.
There he went again, arguing in his head to appease the voice that sounded too much like his dad. Narrowing dark eyes, he rolled onto his side, exposing his back to Rosella, a rare position. A sign he trusted her enough. His tail flicked around his hip, tapping gently against bone.
"It's fine." He finally grunted. Her home wasn't crappy, no. It was her home, and had touches that indicated so. If anything, it was better than those stone boxes people called home. Disgusting. [11/5/2014 3:28:18 PM] Jinx: Rosella hummed softly in the back of her throat to indicate that she had heard Erebus, but otherwise didn't encroach on him for conversation. Silence suited her better anyway, as she lacked her father's gold tongue. It had gotten him in more than his fair share of trouble, though. She walked across the room with the board in her hand, adding the chopped items to the pot of water with soft splashes. The air, scented with herbs already from the various dried bundles hanging from the ceiling, took on a slightly savory scent as the water began to softly bubble.
The silence of the cottage was a comfortable one to Rosella. It was strange, sure, that she could call anything comfortable involving having a half-dead man who tried to kill and/or maim her on a regular basis in her house, on her bed, and more than half naked. Her father would bust a vein, and just the thought caused Rosella to smile a bit in amusement. She added more items to the stew, the scent of which began to fill the air and increase in strength. She made sure to chop everything finely so that it would either dissolve or be very soft when it was done, and therefore require little energy to eat. She wasn't even sure if Erebus was still awake since all she could see was his back. It wouldn't surprise her if he did fall asleep again. He'd been in pretty rough shape. [11/5/2014 3:46:17 PM] Yushika: Erebus listened to her cook, finding it vaguely comforting as the scents reached him. He hadn't planned to fall asleep, but slowly his body eased into relaxation. The silence was something he was used to, and grateful that Rosella seemed to enjoy it as well.
Heh. Silver would be pissed if she saw this. She still was uptight over Erebus not returning her romantic feelings, and had recently gone at his throat (literally, too!) when he last visited her. She had always been too chatty, and too needy. He hoped the two never met. Rosella was the only non-family being he could actually tolerate for extended periods of times. Slowly, he drifted into a silent slumber, though could be easily roused if need be. He just needed a little more rest... [11/5/2014 4:07:45 PM] Jinx: Rosella managed to get several things done that day. Once everything was in the stew and cooking she poked at the laundry and added a handful more of the dried herbal mix she used for her clothing. Then she went outside and proceeded to wash her kitchen tools, put those back, then scrubbed out the bucket she'd used to wash Erebus' wounds. She waded into the sun-warmed soil of her small garden, wiggling her bare toes in the earth as she plucked up the tiny weed shoots that invaded the beds and added them to her compost heap. She returned to the house using her shirt like a basket, filled with tomatoes, carrots, and peas. She put them away, revealing that an otherwise overlooked corner of the floor was actually a hatch. The cellar barely warranted the name, a hole in the ground about as deep as Rosella's legs were long, with several niches dug into the walls and the whole thing lined with stone and scrubbed clean. She stepped in and squatted down to tuck the vegetables away. One day she hoped to dig an actual cellar, but she had other more important projects awaiting her.
After that she went back to the wash, determined it was done, and began the arduous process of removing the articles of clothing to a bin, taking them outside to wring out, then hanging the damp items up to dry. That began the equally annoying process of emptying the washer, bucket by bucket. Normally she did laundry outside and could just pull out a plug to let it drain, but she'd been distracted and hadn't remembered to drag the thing out until it was too late. By the time everything was emptied and scrubbed the soup smelled more than done. Rosella began pulling bowls and spoons out of her cupboard, debating her next move. Erebus was still in the same position, and she was fairly sure he had indeed fallen asleep. Should she wait for him to wake up or wake him up now? She'd rather he get food in him, but if he had no appetite then sleep would be better for now. How would she even wake him? Touching seemed out of the question, since he was wary of it even when fully conscious, clothed, and in good shape. Startling him seemed just too mean. "Erebus," she called out softly, feeling slightly silly. [11/5/2014 4:17:00 PM] Yushika: He hated dreaming.
They always revolved around two things: His blood lust and his father. Perhaps he had a father complex, but he'd never admit it. He wasn't as strong as him, or skilled. His father had mastered controlling that need for blood, but it had taken him such a long time. His dreams were plagued with a long haired father who smirked at each failure. Blood poured, infecting his sight, tainting it a dark red. Laughter flickered into his ears, taunting and vicious.
Discomfort washed through his entire body. He didn't whimper, nor did he twitch, but a tension creeped into his bones. He felt trapped, trapped within a body he never wanted and a family he loved and yet didn't feel he truly gave justice to. His body ached, needing to wake, yet trapped within this dark dream that had repeated for years.
'Erebus'. An ear flicked, hands tightening slightly. It was a soft voice, familiar to the ears. An eye fluttered open, relief washing through him. Awake. Finally awake. Slowly, he turned his head, an eye visible to Rosella. "Rosella." He croaked, voice rough from sleep. [11/5/2014 4:35:58 PM] Jinx: Rosella quirked her head to the side, examining Erebus. "You look like hell," she observed. It seemed that the sleep made him look worse, though she supposed it was because bruises had more time to form and no one looked their best when they just woke up. She picked up a bowl and moved to the pot over the fire, spooning some of the thick liquid into the bowl. "Think you can stomach something," she asked, looking him over again. There was no point putting food in his stomach if it would come right back up again. [11/5/2014 4:36:22 PM] Jinx: (( Sorry so short, I ran out to get some food real quick! )) [11/5/2014 4:36:41 PM] Yushika: (( You're okay darling! )) [11/5/2014 4:39:28 PM] Yushika: He grunted in response, moving to show his back to her once again. "Thanks." He mused back, lifting his head once again when she mentioned food. Slowly and with a wince he squirmed into a sitting position, eyes flicking to the bowl and then her. "Yes." His fingers criss-crossed over one another, having to remember his manners. Being beaten up and broken made it hard to remember the few manners he had. "You didn't have to…. do all this." [11/5/2014 4:49:58 PM] Jinx: "Call me sentimental, but I'd have problems leaving someone I spar with on a regular basis to become a roadside skeleton. That forest is gloomy enough, it doesn't need the help." She went to grab the second bowl off the counter and filled it up, then moved to sit in the single chair in the cottage pushed up to a tiny table, snagging a spoon as she did so. She settled down and ate a few bites of stew, gently blowing on each spoonful to avoid burning her tongue. It was still quite warm. After giving herself and Erebus to get a bit of food inside themselves she looked back up at him. "Not like it's something that's ever had to come up before now. I've never seen you get worse than bumps, bruises, and scratches." She waved a hand to indicate the mass of bandages covering Erebus' chest, visible since he was sitting up and the blanket had pooled in his lap. Of course she knew his lower half was just as bad, if not many levels worse. "Seriously, how did you get so thoroughly thrashed?" [11/5/2014 4:54:50 PM] Yushika: A slight gruff laugh escaped him. He held his bowl, taking a few bites before setting it down. He needed time to eat it, he wasn't about to scarf it down and make himself feel worse. "It's good." He admitted before offering a response to her last question. His hand twitched into a fist, head turning to the side.
"I was an idiot." He grumbled. "A woman was about to be murdered. I stepped in front of her. She didn't seem so pleased and left immediately." [11/5/2014 5:05:59 PM] Jinx: "So someone is about to murder a woman. You stick your neck out and get beaten to within an inch of your life. And this woman just....walks off?" She quirked an eyebrow upward. Even knowing how odd and dangerous that forest could be, it was the first she'd heard of something like this. "You know, maybe you should move. If you aren't living in a forest that seems to beckon killers to it's shadows, maybe your temper would settle down." She was teasing, of course, though most would have to know her to realize it since she was always deadpan with her tones. She was knew that if it was as simple as a bit of sunlight and change of scenery then Erebus could have gotten things under control ages ago. She sipped on her stew, shaking her head slightly at the ridiculousness of all the danger that lurked in the dark forest.
"Still, that had to be a heck of a first blow. You're pretty fast for your size, and it's hard enough to take you down that I'm pretty sure you've got a skull twice as think as the average person." She honestly didn't want to meet the thing that could shred Erebus like it was nothing. [11/5/2014 5:13:24 PM] Yushika: "Sounds about right." Erebus mumbled, moving to take another bite of dinner. Glancing up at her, he stared at the woman, about to retort back when instead he simply went back to eating. He had learned to decipher when she was joking, however the idea of moving left him unsettled. Would that be betrayal? Leaving his family? Would his father be able to let go of one of his children?
Her next words caused a slight prideful smile on his face. "He had wings." He stated, black eyes flicking up. "He's slow. But his wingspan was massive. He knocked me over after about fifteen minutes of me dodging his blows." [11/5/2014 5:23:41 PM] Jinx: "Did you ever consider just running away?" She shrugged, tapping her spoon against her mostly empty bowl. "It doesn't really give you a good feeling, but it's still valid and sometimes the only thing you cam do." Tap tap tap. "My dad taught me that one when I was little, after I got into a fight and lost bad." She smiled slightly. "He said if you're defending someone you stand your ground, because if you fall the one you're protecting will get hurt. But if it's just you, there's no shame in running away. I could understand if the chick was still there, but sounds like she took off pretty quick." She tried to picture something with huge wings living in that forest, and couldn't. Not unless he didn't mind never being able to use them much. You saw the sky infrequently in that place, and the trees got really thick sometimes. Even she felt a bit claustrophobic there, but then she was used to open spaces. [11/5/2014 5:27:59 PM] Yushika: "I was trying to once the wing hit me, but his claws found my ribs and the world went black." Erebus poked his bowl, slowly looking up at her. "Sometimes I want to run." He admitted, his voice soft despite its usual rough undertone. "I can't." He didn't comment further, going back to his meal in peace. [11/5/2014 5:39:08 PM] Jinx: Rosella left him alone at that, and finished eating the rest of her meal in silence. For the most part she was able to put it out of mind. It wasn't like it was her nature to want to run round fixing things. She knew she wouldn't want someone else poking their nose into her life and trying to tell her what she needed to do. She rather liked the terminology she'd once heard from a show, when a girl told her father that he couldn't ride in on a white horse wearing a suit of armor to rescue her. That she had to rescue herself. That was how she viewed a lot of problems. Sure, sometimes help was needed but the individual couldn't bring themselves to ask, but she was sure if there was anything she could do to help that Erebus would have asked.
Meal finished, she stood and went to the sink to wash her bowl. A glance at Erebus made her wonder if the clothes were dry yet; she wasn't sure she had anything here that would fit him. "So your family's not going to come for blood for me kidnapping you, I hope," she commented, mostly joking but partially serious. He never talked directly about them, but she was still pretty sure they were people she didn't want hunting her down. [11/5/2014 5:47:35 PM] Yushika: Erebus flicked his eyes up to view her, head shaking halfway. "I doubt it." He commented, though he wasn't sure. "Maybe one of them." He knew Sin wouldn't want to bring the entire family, that would be too dangerous for his family. He probably would end up trying to track him down, but Sin couldn't smell. Though, the blood-trail… he was sure he probably dripped blood everywhere as they walked.
s**t. Well, lucky for Rosella and partially himself, Sin wasn't as violent as before. He'd ask questions before flipping, for sure. [11/5/2014 5:48:42 PM] Jinx: (( Is it wrong that I'm cackling at this mental image of Sin tracking down his son, blood all over the place, only to find him almost nakkers in a cottage with a strange woman? )) [11/5/2014 5:51:05 PM] Yushika: (( I was amused at the image myself, oh god. )) [11/5/2014 6:01:09 PM] Jinx: "Well that's comforting. I'll just sleep with an eye open, that should do it." She dried the clean bowl with a towel and put it away. "Thankfully none of my family lives nearby. I'm pretty sure you're the kind of person that would find my dad a continual pain, though my step mom's pretty cheerful most of the time." She turned and leaned against the counter, arms crossed over her chest as she watched Erebus. "But seriously, if you need me to contact your family somehow so they can get you I'll figure something out. You can't be on that leg for a least a week, and that's pushing things." She paused to let him consider that, then continued, "I mean you're welcome to stay here until then. I just figured maybe you'd feel more comfortable around people you trust." [11/5/2014 6:13:13 PM] Yushika: Erebus eyed her, not offering a response when she spoke at first. He couldn't blame her, his family were frightening. Not to him, but to others. If he was in her shoes he'd feel the same. Tapping his nail against the bowl, he finally finished his meal and set the bowl down.
Go home? No. He knew how'd that go. Quietly, he shifted back onto his side. "I trust you." [11/5/2014 6:30:52 PM] Jinx: Rosella hummed softly under her breath. "You sure? We're talking about living in close quarters with someone you see only on an infrequent basis, who routinely never stays in one place for too long. That's bound to make most people a bit twitchy." She just didn't want Erebus to confuse trust with tolerance. These next few days would put a strain even on trust, as new as it seemed to be between them. Tolerance it would outright break. [11/5/2014 6:31:52 PM | Edited 6:32:00 PM] Yushika: (lemme fix) [11/5/2014 6:33:10 PM | Edited 6:33:14 PM] Yushika: "I am sure." Erebus stated, voice firm. It seemed like that was all he needed to say, leaning into his pillow. Silence overcame the two for a period of time before he finally seemed actually willing to start a conversation for once. "What do I owe you?" [11/5/2014 6:39:59 PM] Jinx: "Well there's always weeds that need pulling. Or chopping up herbs and tying them in cheesecloth bundles for later. You should stay away from stuff that'll put a strain on your leg, but there's always little things around here that can be done." She thought of the single outfit Erebus owned, all of it (with the exception of a single piece), currently hanging on a pole that exposed it to the breeze. She immediately resolved to make a trip into town soon.
"I actually have some things I need to do tomorrow and I won't be back 'til late. The food will keep 'til then so you won't have to cook anything. You should probably rest most of tomorrow anyway, if you can." Silently she wondered how long Erebus would be able to put up with staying cooped inside the cottage. Hopefully he healed fast! [11/5/2014 6:58:33 PM] Yushika: (( Rose please buy him the ugliest clothes )) [11/5/2014 6:58:53 PM] Jinx: (( XD Saw into her plot, did you >D )) [11/5/2014 7:00:24 PM] Yushika: Erebus made a face. Not to the helping, no, but he obviously wasn't interested in resting all day. He was a restless man, and Rosella would be lucky if he stayed in the bed for tonight! Sighing grumpily, he folded his arms, grunted, and looked away.
"I'll try and sit pretty." He mumbled, though it was clear in his tone that was a complete lie. [11/5/2014 7:08:53 PM] Jinx: Rosella just laughed, a quick, short laugh. "Now would be the perfect time to practice meditation. I can even show you how if you've never done it before." A wicked gleam flashed through her eyes. "I could also show you how to do other things, like sewing and knitting, drying and grinding herbs, pickling and canning food. There's all sorts of fun stuff like that that doesn't require you to move around." [11/5/2014 7:10:27 PM] Yushika: The man saw that gleam, watching her with narrow eyes. "Are you trying to make me into a housewife?" He whispered with a slight grump, fingers plucking at the covers. He couldn't imagine himself sewing or knitting. Grinding herbs, sure. But…. Eh. [11/5/2014 7:17:52 PM] Jinx: She chuckled. "Nah. You probably wouldn't look at all adorable in an apron, after all." Her expression grew more serious. "Just offering alternatives to being bored out of your mind. I also own books, if you prefer to read to pass the time. Most of the stuff to be done around here requires the legs be strong. I'd rather not see us get halfway through this and then you snap the bone again." Her words might have been a bit gruff, but the way she shifted her gaze away showed she really did care. She just didn't know how to express that care in a traditional caring fashion. [11/5/2014 7:21:30 PM] Yushika: Erebus watched her, cracking a half-smile. "You'd be surprised." He sunk into the bed, clearly exhausted once more. Tugging the blanket over himself, the long male grimaced as he realized he couldn't curl up in his usual sleeping position.
He seemed briefly awkward, watching Rosella through tired eyes. Finally, he whispered one last thing before he would try and go back to much needed sleep. "Thank you." [11/5/2014 7:47:17 PM] Jinx: (( Have this while I work on your reply! ))
(( Heads up though. If you don't think he'll work with Trixie, likely he'll settle down with Etchemin at his lake. Hopefully Harper doesn't discover him when she's by herself XD )) [11/5/2014 7:49:47 PM] Yushika: (( pffft watch her discover him and freak )) [11/5/2014 7:50:12 PM] Jinx: (( With his face? Appearing out of the dark depths? Very likely >D )) [11/5/2014 7:56:57 PM] Jinx: Rosella smiled slightly and straightened. "You don't have to thank me. I'm just doing what I feel like." With that awkward reply, she slipped outside to check on the laundry. __________
Rosella sighed and readjusted the straps of her very full pack, glad to see the little cottage looming up before her. Last night she'd made a bed among the crates in her loft, using the few spare blankets she owned to create a nest. Luckily it was still warm at night, since all the blankets were a bit light. Erebus appeared to still be sleeping when she slipped out early that morning, the sky still the dark steel grey of predawn. She'd left a couple books within easy reach, in case he did want to look something, then set off towards town. The sun was well in the sky by the time she made it there. She'd gone for new medical supplies first, since she knew where to go. That was the easiest part of her day. After that she wandered from store to store in the city, looking for clothing for Erebus. It was tough going. The dude was so tall that she couldn't find things that would fit him, and of the few things she did find they were outrageously priced. She ended the day in a thrift shop and went for the biggest clothing she could find. She could easily tailor it to properly fit him later, just so long as the clothing was long enough to cover him. The results were...pretty mixed. With all that shoved into her bag she'd begun the trek home later than she'd hoped. Already the sun was dipping to the horizon, about to vanish entirely.
She turned the latch and pushed the door open, stepping inside. "I'm back," she mumbled, feeling very silly. She'd been living alone for so long that the concept of having someone to come home to was just a bit awkward. [11/5/2014 8:01:30 PM] Yushika: And when she came back she would find Erebus on the floor, attempting to stand with a snarl escaping clenched teeth.
Lets go back to the beginning. He had indeed been asleep when she left, but woke an hour later. He had sat there, fidgeting. Eventually, the need to /move/ infected his brain. He had wanted to do something, /anything/. Of course, the second a long limb touched the ground and the muscular male rose he collapsed. That hadn't stopped him. He had tried to, with great injured pride, to crawl closer to the door. He hadn't been trying to escape, not at all. His intention was to see if he could repair anything.
Instead, he discovered standing wasn't working. So, when Rosella walked in he was caught gripping the table, trying to pull himself up. He froze there, eying her, looking much like a caught child. Clearing his throat, the male glanced at her backpack briefly. "Hey." [11/5/2014 8:09:46 PM] Jinx: Rosella paused. The corner of her mouth twitched. Probably because she couldn't decide whether to frown at Erebus attempting to stand and move around already or to smile at the ridiculous expression that flashed over his face. He looked like a child who expected a scolding, maybe even a spanking, was imminent. She did neither, of course, just set the bag down, and, sighing, walked over to Erebus and ducked under his arm, pulling it around her shoulders and hoisting it up. "Back to bed with you. You break something else, I'm duct taping you down whenever I have to leave."
After getting him back on the bed she went over to the table and grabbed her bag. The medical stuff she removed, then she took the bag over to Erebus and set it on the bed next to him. "Here, look through that. It was hard to find stuff your size, so I had to guess. I can alter stuff that's too baggy. Oh, and if the package in there is the wrong size don't open it. I'll just return it later."
(( She bought him some boxers. New ones, not thrifted ones XD )) [11/5/2014 8:10:50 PM] Yushika: (( Oh good because he refuses to wear thrifted boxers )) [11/5/2014 8:11:10 PM] Jinx: (( XD Yea, she wouldn't do that. I don't even think they accept those anyway. )) [11/5/2014 8:14:02 PM] Yushika: Erebus groaned lowly as she approached, going limp the second she touched him so as to resist the fighting his body wanted to do. Back to the bed? Really? He nestled back into the god forsaken bed, casting it a skin-crawling glare before settling in. His eyes trailed after her as she approached, viewing the bag with a raised eyebrow. Pawing through it, he grimaced slightly.
"They smell weird." Oh, wasn't he so good at words? [11/5/2014 8:24:59 PM] Jinx: "Your own fault for being such a giant. Tall people are hard to shop for," she responded. Clearly he wasn't going to win any sympathy from her. "They just smell like the store. They're clean though. If it bugs you so bad I've got herbs that'll make it smell better. Unless you like walking around in just your underthings. We have to change your bandages anyway, which means cleaning the wounds." She looked him over. "Think you can handle it if I get you in the wash room, or do you need help to reach?" [11/5/2014 8:34:00 PM] Yushika: "My father's fault, actually." He mumbled back, setting the bag down. Nodding, the male flicked his gaze up her, giving a challenging twitch of his mouth. "Am I going to get sponge-bathed?" [11/5/2014 8:34:16 PM] Yushika: (( Short response is short. Insert sarcastic Erebus here )) [11/5/2014 8:36:08 PM] Jinx: Rosella met Erebus' challenging look with an equally challenging gaze and set of her eyebrows. "If you're unable to reach all of your wounds, then yes. And with your ribs how they are, I question if you can or not." [11/5/2014 8:36:38 PM] Jinx: (( Equally short. Insert dead serious Rose here >D )) [11/5/2014 8:37:39 PM] Yushika: "You question if I can wash myself." And there it was, that competitive gaze in his eyes. "Obviously I can wash myself." [11/5/2014 8:43:56 PM] Jinx: "Oh? Well since you can do that, why don't you go ahead and remove the bandages while I warm up some water. Just a bucket and sponge for now, you can have a proper bath once your wounds have all properly sealed shut." With that she moved over to the little stove and started poking at the wood-burning section, placing tinder and small bits of wood in and setting them ablaze, then ducking out briefly and scooping a bucket of water from a rain catcher. Soon the water sat on the stove, heating up so it would at least be a warm wash. [11/5/2014 8:46:24 PM] Yushika: "Alright." He grunted back, and began working on his bandages. The second he bent down he had to fight back a yelp. /********/. That hurt. Glowering, he spent a few minutes trying to yank off his bandages, only to find it futile. This ******** sucked. He wasn't used to being so helpless! This wasn't like him, at all. Sighing, he prepared to have to let go of his ego and ask for help. [11/5/2014 8:57:44 PM] Jinx: Rosella raised an eyebrow. "Having trouble are we?" She refrained from the I told you so; it would probably only make Erebus pissy. Still, she wasn't going to step in and help 'til he asked. [11/5/2014 9:03:32 PM] Yushika: "Mm." Erebus grunted, staring down at his body. Sucking it in, the male looked up, shoulders visibly tensing as he was about to speak. "…….I need help." [11/5/2014 9:21:26 PM] Jinx: Rosella nodded and went over to Erebus. She tried to be careful not to jostle the wounds as she unwound the bandage from his chest, especially when they got closer to the bare skin. Blood had glued the bandage down in places and she tried to removed them as cleanly as possibly, but she still caused a few trickles of blood to start flowing again. The leg at least was more internally injured and did not have so many scratches, but she was just as careful, if not more so, in removing the bandages.
"Alright, up now," she said, pulling his arm over her shoulder and hoisting up. She managed to get him in the wash room and sat him down on a stool. The room contained an actual tub. She had set up a rain-collecting tub so that she could easily fill the tub, but for the most part she only used it when a hot soak was needed. It was just easier and required less water to use the bathing method she was about to put Erebus through. "Wait right there, I'll be back with the water." [11/5/2014 9:23:42 PM] Yushika: He couldn't help wincing, recoiling into himself a bit. When she pulled his arm he shifted to try and help her, resting on the stool once they moved him in their with a low sigh. Eying the tub, he felt grateful she had one. He desperately wanted to clean his body, especially after he noticed just how dirty he was. [11/5/2014 9:30:14 PM] Jinx: Rosella came back with a bucket filled with water that steamed slightly. She set it down then went over to a small cabinet, pulling out a sponge. She eyed Erebus, then the sponge, the bucket, and Erebus again. "You going to behave or do we have to go through the same conversation," she asked. She didn't want to make it that much harder on him, but this was equally embarrassing for her. [11/5/2014 9:33:54 PM] Yushika: Erebus grimaced when she looked at him. He didn't want to do this, at all. He hated the idea of being taken care of like a baby. Still, he slowly moved closer to her, head turning away, perhaps a tiny of red sneaking into his cheeks. "Just….. get it over with." [11/5/2014 9:56:00 PM] Jinx: "You should only be so lucky," she responded, not really caring if he understood the statement or not. She walked over to the bucket, dipped the sponge in, and started cleaning Erebus' body. She tried to be impersonal about it, focusing on the task rather than Erebus himself. She had to be careful, going over his chest wound, but soon was scrubbing the rest of his body. She went all the way down to his waist, then moved to get his legs; he wasn't /that/ helpless that he needed cleaning those areas. Once she finished his legs she handed him the sponge. "Get anything else I missed. I'll be right back." She made sure to close the door to the room, and waited several minutes before tapping on the door again. Upon receiving positive affirmation she reentered the room, carrying another steaming bucket of water; there was enough on the stove that she could pour half a bucket of boiling water into half a bucket of cool water, and get two buckets of perfect temperature bathing water. She had another bucket heating up on the stove, since most of her bathing required four buckets. She went over to Erebus.
"Close your eyes and hold you breath," she warned, then dumped the bucket of water in a flow over his head, washing away the dirt scrubbed loose by the sponge and wetting his hair. She set the empty bucket down and poured out the one with the sponge water, then went back to her cupboard and pulled out a bottle of mystery liquid. She poured this into Erebus' hair, and began working it in. A gentle lather worked itself up, but it was far less than the usual store-bought shampoos. A very herbal scent filled the air. Finally she'd gotten all of his long hair. "Okay, be right back." She took both buckets and left the room.
(( Hopefully my bucket explanation made sense XD Also Ere doesn't get a bathtub bath until his wounds are more closed and won't leak blood into the water. Soon Ere, soon XD )) [11/5/2014 10:05:16 PM] Yushika: Erebus refused to look at her, intensely relieved when she handed the sponge to him and headed off. He finished the job, grunting in a mildly affirmative response when she knocked, which meant just a slightly higher pitched grunt. Barely.
He was intensely disappointed he couldn't /be/ in the tub, closing his eyes when commanded. The hot water was dumped on him and the male leaned into the flow of water, releasing a low, content sigh once it had all ran down his aching body. For one second, his tail wagged, stiffening seconds later. When she grabbed the mystery liquid and approached his hair his ears flipped back, clearly not amused. However, like a rarely touched dog, he subconsciously leaned into her touch. Just like his father, he loved his hair being touched. When she stood to leave he had to catch the disappointed sigh that wanted to escape. Maybe later he'd somehow trick her into rubbing his head again. [11/5/2014 10:05:31 PM] Yushika: (( Assuming he has fox ears since we mentioned their tails before )) [11/5/2014 10:15:01 PM] Jinx: Rosella came back with both buckets, each steaming slightly. Little bundles floated in them, and the steam rising from the buckets had the faintest of herbal smells, slightly different from the herbal smell of the shampoo and much weaker. "Alright, eyes and breath again." She didn't pour the entire bucket in one go. Instead she would pour a little, set the bucket down and run her hands through Erebus' hair, working the shampoo up again, and the pick the bucket back up and pour more water over his head. It took the entire bucket and part of the second one to work all the lather out of his hair. "Now I remember why I cut mine short. This stuff must be a maintenance nightmare," she commented.
She held up the rest of the second bucket, the herbal smell a bit more pungent since the bundle had more time to steep. "You need to scrub anything else before I dump this on you?" [11/5/2014 10:19:00 PM] Yushika: (( I just got a flash of them as a couple and Erebus always leaning down, asking for a hair pet. Like their secret way of showing affection. )) [11/5/2014 10:23:48 PM] Yushika: When she returned he immediately smelled the herbal scents, looking up at her with an expression that read 'you and your herbal s**t.' Still, he obediently closed his eyes, flashing them open briefly when she touched his hair. He couldn't help once more leaning into the touch, just giving a slight hum when she spoke about his hair.
What was it with this woman and her magic ******** fingers? Now he understood why animals loved their heads being rubbed. "No. I got everything." He responded, preparing his body for the bucket. [11/5/2014 10:35:56 PM] Jinx: Rosella couldn't help a silent chuckle. Erebus reminded her of some of the stray cats in town. They were always so aloof and wanted pretty much nothing to do with people aside from their food, but she'd lured a few close before with canned food. Initially they'd been startled at being touched, but then they had melted under the caresses she'd given them. Of course there was always a point when it was time to pull back before they decided to scratch the person. She carefully poured the rest of the warm water over Erebus' head, catching the herbal bag before it landed on his head. She held it up. "Good for the hair and skin. My hair is naturally this color, but white hair always look frail if you don't care for it properly." She tossed the soggy bundle in the bucket with the other one, then pulled out a drying cloth. She gave his body a brisk patting down, then wrapped his hair in the cloth in a roll on his head. "Be right back."
She vanished, then reappeared with a package. While it did smell a bit like the thrift store, the packaging clearly spoke of never being opened before. "Hopefully the waist size is good. If it is go ahead and see if you can pull a pair on." Her look clearly stated a wish that he could manage this on his own while she ducked out of the washroom and closed the door. [11/5/2014 10:40:09 PM | Edited 11:01:48 PM] Yushika: Erebus wasn't the type to like being taken care of, however, Rosella had made it a bit enjoyable. However, he was pleased when it was over. She left, returning with clothes. His own looked clearly told her he rather drop dead then have her help him get his lower parts covered. Luckily, she left, and he was left to struggle. Which he did, but eventually the object found their places.
Yes, their were wide around the waists, but hell, it was something.. Tugging on the waist slightly, he reminded himself to somehow repay the favor. He wasn't one who liked to leave favors open for long…. or even be in debt. [11/5/2014 10:48:53 PM] Jinx: (( She only gave him underwear. She's got put new bandages on, so no pants yet XD )) [11/5/2014 11:01:27 PM] Yushika: (( Shhhh lemme fix it )) [11/5/2014 11:01:57 PM] Yushika: Fixed [11/5/2014 11:10:37 PM] Jinx: While Erebus (hopefully) got everything under control, Rosella went to dig in her bag for some of the clothes she had bought him. His original clothing was dry by now, but was so shredded that the shirt was going to have to be scrapped. The pants could maybe be saved. Maybe. When she left Erebus to scrub himself she'd dumped most of the clothing out of the bag, taking it to hang on the pole outside the door that she used for small things. Now she went back and sorted through the pile she'd made. Everything still smelled like thrift shop, but at least a little less. She grabbed two items, shook them out and beat them against the side of the cottage, then brought them in. She laid lavender (she could almost feel Erebus rolling his eyes when her fingers touched the herbs) on the clothing and folded them, leaving them to sit while she grabbed the medical supplies she bought and went to the washroom, tapping on the door. "You done changing or did you keel over trying to pull them on?" [11/5/2014 11:25:03 PM] Yushika: He KNEW she was playing with herbs. He sensed it. What was with that woman and herbs? When she tapped on the door he tossed the packaging to the ground, grunting. "I managed. I'm not completely helpless. If I ever get to that point please just kill me." And hell, he was partially making an honest request. [11/5/2014 11:33:28 PM] Jinx: "Too late. You opened the underwear and I can't take it back, so no choice but to live now." She picked up the package and set it on the shelf. She didn't know what he'd need with three pairs of boxes, but that was the lowest pack size she could find. With another drying cloth she set to making sure his wounds were completely dry before she began bandaging the scratches on his leg with simple bandaids. "Well now you know why I'm going through the forest so often. And that's just for a couple kinds of herbs. Most of what I use I can find or grow here." Next she pulled a brace forward, fixing Erebus with a stern look. "This is going to restrict movement, but that's what your leg needs right now. Make sure to leave it on, even when it's uncomfortable, or we're going with a cast. And those can't be removed, which means very awkward baths."
She gently fitted the brace to his leg, then turned her attention to his torso. The wound got cleaned with a disinfectant, left for a moment to dry, then she pulled out the rolls of bandage and started wrapping him up. "We're gonna have to clean this daily. If it goes sour then I'll have to drag you to a hospital. With a busted leg, that'll be a fun walk." [11/5/2014 11:44:54 PM] Yushika: He sighed dramatically, though his low voice and clear humor behind it ruined the effect. God damn it, though. Here he was, in ******** /boxers/, letting some woman take care of him. He'd need to keep that thought to himself, he was sure she'd punish him with more herbs. He allowed her to tend to him, eying the brace with disgust.
As she fitted the brace and then tended to his wounds he watched, suddenly twitching at the mention of a hospital. "No. I'm not going to a hospital." [11/5/2014 11:56:35 PM] Jinx: "Then keep the brace on and no more stumbling around like a hatchling," she said firmly, tying off the bandage. "If you need to go outside wait 'til I'm around to help." She tapped his arm, indicating it was time to get up again. She helped him back to the bed, getting him in a sitting position, then turned and got the clothing off the table. She shook the lavender out; at least the clothing smelled a bit better. She handed the items over to him. "I got some more if those don't work out, but see if they fit."
He sighed, nodding in response. Fine, he'd be a good boy. When he finally was settled in the bed he watched her, watching the lavender fall out. It smelled like his uncle, weird. Why'd she pick lavender of all things? Accepting the items, he knew putting them on would be an epic struggle, but hey, finally clohtes.
Rosella watched him examine the clothes, noting the slight face he pulled at the lavender. It reminded her of a conversation that seemed like forever ago when he warned her about the smell. He'd never elaborated and she never asked. Hopefully he wasn't allergic. That didn't seem to be the case though, thankfully. He eyed the clothes like he was debating the best plan of attack. "Need help with the shirt," she offered. It was a button-up so he didn't have to pull it on, but stretching seemed to be painful for him right now.

Nasim had escaped his parents for the evening, though they had willingly turned their eyes when he ran out of the house. Unknown to him, they had long been aware of his need to be alone at times, and he always did come home. His smiles were false, and they knew it. He just wanted to be alone these days, and nothing he said to them could trick the two clever women.
The dark haired boy was curled up on a boulder, face hidden by a simple mask he wore. The mask was split, half white half black, with a smile painted across the middle and eyes shut. While it looked irrationally happy, he was not. Small pale hands gripped his buttoned jacket tighter as he curled into himself, head in-between his knees, which were pulled up. His black jacket looked brand new, yellow buttons reflecting light off into several directions. A soft yellow scarf pooled around him, longer than the child himself. Large but useless wings curled around his body, protecting the boy from the forest animals gaze.
"Don't look at me." He chanted under his breath, recoiling at each sound of an animal nearby. He just wanted to vanish. He didn't want to be here. He didn't want to /exist/. Something was wrong with him, and he wasn't sure what it was. All he knew was that his older brother cared too much whenever a frown touched his face, and his twin sister didn't seem to struggle the same way he did. His mothers seemed genuinely happy and content, and his long lost older sister bore a mask to hide her face, too. That was what had encouraged him to start to wear masks in public if he didn't want to pretend. It was the only way he could truly be himself without giving away the facade he had developed so early in life.
Something stirred within the forest, causing his head to jerk up, wings to tighten around him, and a sharp gasp to escape the small boy. Fear washed over him, wondering if he should remove the mask and pretend once more, or if he should stay within his wings and hide as he truly wished to.
A tiny little girl ran through the forest, heedless of the noise she was making. She should have been scared, for she was lost and alone, but instead her small face was scrunched into an expression of adorable concentration. Her momma and papa had to be so worried about her! She said she was only going into the forest to look for some pretty flowers, but that had been a long time ago. She had her mother's sense of direction, and had gotten horribly lost in no time. Rather than sit and wait for her father or one of the other members of Caledonia to find her, she'd decided to try her best to make it back on her own. Which only got her more and more lost. As the sun began to sink lower and the light faded, the only sign of distress she showed was to clutch her stuffed toy bear close to her body.
Makala paused to get her bearings and catch her breath. What had Papa told her about how to tell what direction she was facing? Something about the sun. Or was it stars? Moss? She pouted, unable to recall what he had told her. She'd tried really hard to remember, really, but facts just didn't seem to want to stick in her brain. She sighed and hugged her teddy close, wondering what to do now, when a faint sound reached her ears. She went perfectly still and listened. It sounded like a voice, but it was so quiet that she couldn't be sure. It might have just been the wind; sometimes that could sound like voices. But she didn't know what else to do, so she stood up and headed towards where she thought she heard the sound. She made a lot of noise of her own trying to get there. Her legs and arms bore scratches from all her wandering into stubborn undergrowth and her snowy white hair was a little disheveled, but it was still up in its pigtails.
When she found the source of the noise she stopped in surprise. It was a boy, probably really close to her own age, though it was really hard to tell because his face was covered and he looked like he was wearing a really big coat. Makala belatedly realized the large black mass was actually wings. The sounds had stopped. Had the boy been crying? He looked as alone as Makala currently was, and though she couldn't see much of him behind the mask and wings, he trembled a little like he was scared.
"Hello," she piped in a high, clear voice. She trotted over to stand at the base of the rock he sat on and tilted her head back to look up at him. "Are you lost?"
[1/2/2015 5:16:45 PM] Jinx: (( She's part of Caledonia. Don't remember if I mentioned or not > n> ))
(( Also here are her clothes. This is about what her appearance looks like: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-I8hMTmlYBNY/T7ig8uKBXAI/AAAAAAAAGts/lqtJ7vLgra4/s1600/anime+girl+surprised+2.jpg
He didn't dare look up, instead curling his wings tighter around himself. A small voice greeted him, causing his wings to twitch and head to slightly raise, peering through the masks eye-slots to look at the girl. Multicolored eyes were hidden behind the darkness of the mask, narrowing slightly. He wanted to scramble away, however he was struck still as his heart hammered in indecision. What to do? What was he supposed to say? He already had the mask on, but he was caught unprepared.
His mouth opened, hidden behind the mask. He snapped it shut as only a soft gasp escaped him, his heart pounding too hard and mind reeling too fast to respond yet. A soft sound escaped his throat as his wings seemed to spread apart slightly so he could view the other, eyes locking within seconds on the bear and her tattered appearance. She didn't belong here. Was she lost? Did she need help? It was growing dark and he knew the animals that lurked at night would make easy work of her. Finally calming himself enough to respond, the boy shifted and slid smoothly off the rock, landing soundly before her.
"No." His voice was soft and gentle, naturally more feminine then most men despite being muffled behind the mask. "Are you?"
"Really?" A gentle, happy smile broke out of Makala's face. "I'm glad. I was worried cause you looked sad." As open as the boy's was closed, Makala's face, and even her voice, were open books for anyone to read. She was clearly genuinely pleased to learn the boy was not lost.
At having her own question turned back at her she pulled her bear into a brief hug and shuffled her feet, looking around at the forest. "I think so. I didn't go very far into the forest, but I can't find the way out. I've been walking for a long time trying to find it." Her face crinkled into a worried frown. Mamma and Papa were probably very worried about her at this point.
He watched her, head cocking to the side as she spoke. So she was lost? His head raised, revealing his neck and chin as he gazed at the falling sun. Right. She needed to get out of here, soon. Lowering his head to view her once more, his hand extended, palm open for the girl.
"I'll help you." He announced, wings folding shakily into his back. He probably could get her out and make it home just in time, if they were quick and she kept up. Flying would be useful…. huh?
Makala gave the boy another smile, this one full of surprise and joy. "Really? Thank you!" She transferred her bear so that it was tucked under one arm and reached out to clasp the offered hand. Though the boy wasn't too much taller than her, her hand seemed especially tiny resting in his. "My name's Makala! I live in an old castle by the sea, with the rest of my family."
Nasim tightened his grip around her hand, a soft smile on his face, though hidden. He didn't return a name, instead flicking his tail at the castle comment. What? He mentally shook it off, deciding right now was not the time to start asking questions about castles and such. She needed help, and it left a feeling of pride within his chest. He was /needed/.
Tugging on her hand ever so gently, he moved towards the direction she had come from, keeping his head turned to her. "Ready, Makala?"
Makala followed along in the direction the boy led her. She didn't feel a need to chatter usually, but after a minute of walking quietly through the forest she piped up, "So what about you? If you're not lost, do you live here?" She tried her best to keep up with the boy, who, with his longer legs and better sense of direction, seemed to have a much easier time walking. It was okay though, she was used to getting little scratches from all the hidden prickly things. And while she was still a little worried for what her parents might be thinking about her being gone so long (for part of her brain was always worrying about others), the rest of her mind was filled with a bit of relief. She would never had admitted it aloud, but she was starting to get scared being by herself in the darkening, unfamiliar settings.
Silence fell upon them and he was grateful. No questions to answers. No lies to make. Her question caused a wing to twitch once more, throat not emitting a sound as he considered his response. It couldn't hurt to tell her, right?
"Yes." He finally said after a few minutes of silence. "We do." He paused, soft voice hardening slightly. "You shouldn't be in the woods alone. You could get hurt…"
Makala felt her cheeks flush and she looked away, her expression one of chagrin. "I didn't plan on going very far. There's this little meadow close to home that has really pretty flowers in it. I thought I'd pick some for Momma. But then I was in such a hurry to get home and I couldn't remember exactly where I entered the meadow from, and...," her voice trailed off as the blush intensified. She knew perfectly well that she was a bit scatter-brained. Not nearly as bad as her mother, but bad enough.
"What about you? You where alone in the woods. Weren't you scared of getting hurt?" Her tone of one of curiosity rather than accusation. "You looked like you were lost when I found you."
He felt her tension, however didn't look back to see her face. Ah. So she was the sweet type. That was even more of a reason to get her out of the forest, immediately. His hand tightened around hers slightly, letting her know she was safe with him. Flightless or not, he wouldn't let anything hurt this girl.
His tail twitched when she spoke again, mouth tightening. Shaking his head, he sighed against his mask quietly before giving a muffled response. "No. I…." He trailed off, lost on how to respond. Literally, he hadn't been lost. Figuratively? He didn't continue, instead just leading her swiftly through the forest.
Makala looked curiously over at the boy, waiting to hear the end of his sentence, but it appeared that was it. The mask that covered his face prevented her from seeing his expression, so she couldn't guess what he was thinking or feeling. She wiggled her tiny hand around so that it wasn't quite so lost in his, and gave his fingers a squeeze.
"My momma gets lost all the time. But she says if she didn't then she'd have never met my Papa. So I think it's okay to get lost, every now and then."
The finger squeeze caught him off-guard, mildly comforted at the gesture. He didn't glance back, instead keeping his voice and eyes to himself as they walked. He didn't agree with her, at all. Getting lost was lonely. You never knew if you'd get home or not. What if you never found where you were supposed to go? What then….?
He shuddered, pulling her suddenly as the trees broke apart and a field was exposed. Just in time, too, as the sun was almost completely set.
Makala tilted her head curiously, but the boy didn't seem to have much to say. She didn't press him to talk though. Some people were just naturally more comfortable with silence.
Suddenly she found herself pulled forward. She stumbled a little, making a small eep sound of surprise, then looked around. The trees were gone. It appeared they had made it out of the forest! Makala looked first to the left, then to the right. She didn't think she recognized this area at all. She squinted, trying to see into the distance with the fading light. There! The hazy outline of mountains could be see. If she just headed towards them, she should find her way back home. Caledonia wasn't in the mountains itself, but they were a reasonable walking away.
She turned to the boy, her face a little scrunched from concentration. "I think I can find my way home from here, now that I can see the sky. It would be easier if I could follow the ocean, but I don't see it..." She trailed off, peering around the field as though hoping the ocean would simply appear before her. Her expression brightened slightly when she looked back at the boy. "But thank you! I don't know if I could have found the way out of the forest without your help!"
Makala bent down a picked up the object, running a thumb over the smooth glass that covered the face. It was a small thing, but in her tiny hands it looked quite big. She hugged her bear close to her body as she cupped the clock in both hands. Her face, typically very emotive, was suddenly unreadable.
She didn't stand there for long though. In a quick movement she tucked the clock in the small bag hanging at her side and ran a couple steps forward, coming to a stop in front of the boy. She took one of his wrists and pushed her teddy bear against his chest, pulling his wrist up to indicate he should hold the bear, then took two steps back. The whole act had taken only a couple seconds.
"You went out of your way to help me, and now you gotta wander back through the dark forest cause of me, and you'll be all alone. So I'm gonna send Mr. Bear with you. If you get scared or feel lost just give him a hug. And if you want you can pretend I'm there with you and when you hug Mr. Bear that I'm hugging you back." She blinked, unsure if her words sounded strange or didn't make sense. But there was just something about this boy that felt...sad. Hugs always made her feel better when she was sad, so she really hoped her teddy would help. She put a hand against her bag, feeling the hard little lump where the clock sat. "I'll never forget you," she promised, and with one last smile she turned and trotted off in the direction (she hoped!) of home.
Nasim watched Makala behind his mask, about to leave when she spoke. He jumped as, suddenly, a bear was shoved into his chest, hands raising as she tugged on his wrist to hold the small stuffed animal. His head raise, watching her with bafflement.
"Wha–" He cut off as she spoke again, head cocking to the side. What in the world? It was too late, however. By the time he finally composed a response she was gone. Holding the bear, he stared at it before slowly heading back home.

Subject: Rishima & Salazar
Shop: Modifoxes
Specific plots you had in mind: Okay, Rishi's pretty solitary and completely unpossessive; she's got a magpie-like tendency to hoard pretty, shiny things, but will leave them behind whenever she decides to move on so they don't hold her back. She likes to travel around until she finds an interesting place she can live in and explore, but she usually doesn't stick around for longer than a couple years. I was thinking Salazar could happen upon her in some old ruins, and she has something pretty or interesting that he wants. He goes up to her, maybe chats a bit. I don't know if he'd demand the object or ask for it or make it clear that he really likes it, but at the end of the meeting Rishi just gives it to him without any hesitation, like, "Here you go, you can have this." The next day they meet again and she's got something else he finds interesting, and again she just gives it to him like it means nothing. Thus ensues a pattern of X amount of days (she's finding these things in the ruins), before the last day when Rishi tells Salazar it was great to meet him, but she was planning to start traveling again the next day.
Now here's where I've been guessing on Sal's personality and how he might react. I figure with Rishi just giving him items he finds so interesting and desirable as though they mean nothing, it might spark his curiousity and catch his interest. Perhaps he decides to follow her when she leaves, either admiting his curiousity to himself or pretending he's just interested in using her to get more interesting stuff. If this does sway to romance, I was thinking that maybe over time he gets possessive of Rishi herself, and seeing her happily chatting with a friend or something would make him realize he wants to have her all to himself or something.
XD That was the idea I had in mind, anyway. If you don't think it would work or Rishi's not quite what you're looking for for him, don't feel hesitant to tell me so! This was just the best option I had at the mo'.
