Amariel Goldenleaf had a large family, and at times they were overbearing. Sometimes she felt confined where she should feel protected.
She was curious about things and wanted so see and learn. Wanted to have her own experiences. Today she managed to slip away from the herd, she knew they were near a road. Earlier in the morning she had heard hooves traveling on it. It didn't take he long to find, and she waited near it, hoping someone will pass by.
While she waited about she explored the area. A peculiar thing caught her eye, it was a large twig insect. She was surprised and happy to have found it, and spoke to it sweetly, "Well hello there little twig, I almost didn't see you! I bet you are able to hide from all the birds with that clever camouflage." In a way she felt similar to the twig insect. They could both sit down and be still and become nearly invisible in their surroundings. Her ability to blend in had saved her on more than one occasion, and that ability was vital to the herd.

Karei prancing by as he stops. He looks at the mare talking to the twig bug. "Hello. I am new to this area and was wondering if you could help me find a place to drink?" He wonders a bit as his little wings move a bit. He stretches as it shows that he is a traveler. "I am Karei. What are you called Miss?" He wonders as he stays a few feet from her. He hates to crowd those he just meets seeing he doesn't want to scare them away from him. Even if he is half their size.
"I am a traveling story teller. So if you want something from me for telling me where water is. Then all I can offer is a story. I have a few and I learn more every time a travel somewhere new."

Amariel jumped at first, she did not expect a traveler to appear so quickly and be so open! She stared at him blankly for a few moments with her big doe eyes before she shook her head and replied.
"Ah yes! Water, of course." fortunately she knew of a small stream not far from where they were, "I know of a place, I can take you there. My name is Amariel Goldenleaf, perhaps we can exchange stories while we walk?"
His complexion was quite fair, but he did not seem like a messenger of Lunaris, and his little wings were quite pleasant. Despite what her cousin had told her about strangers, this one did not look dangerous, and she didnt think he was big enough to try and eat her either.
she giggled at the thought of it.
"Tell me about yourself, where are you from?"

Karei looking at her. He smiles. "Oh Amariel Goldenleaf is a pretty name. And yes I am game to exchange stories. I have a favorite one I learned from a few Fluttercorns." He stretches his little wings. He thinks about her question about where he is from. He couldn't help but think about just where he is from. And never knowing bugs him a bit but that is okay seeing where he has been. "Well I am not sure where I am from. I have been traveling since I was very young. So thinking about the place I was born at doesn't cross my mind and when it does. It is faded and fuzzy." He points out a bit as he looks at her. "What about you?"

"Well if you never stayed in your birthplace then it doesn't hold any significant memories for you," She stated it like it was a kind of observation. and then it was her turn to share it seemed. "I never had just one place that I stayed in, my family is my home and we travel all of the forests." If she were to back track to her earliest memories, she could probably travel those glades as if she did yesterday. She made it important to note the resources of her surroundings. It helped her to navigate and she could always find her way back to the herd.
"We do most of our traveling in the summer, because the sun god is strongest during that time. During the winter months we try our best to follow the sun south so that we can avoid winter as much as possible. The moon is out longer in those months and it can be a dangerous time for the herd." perhaps she shared more than required, but it was fun to share. The story from the fluttercorns sounded intriguing, as most of her family was part flutter.
"But I would like to hear you're favorite story." she said to him with a gleeful smile that would light up most any occasion.

"Ok... Hmm lets see." He clears his throat as he then starts the story. "On a cold stormy night there was a princess who lost her prince. In order to bring him back to life. The princess would need to face not only dragons and death but also what fears are made of. Knowing all of this she embraced her fate and begun her travels for the Sacred Lily Of Life. This flower is a lily that glows of an icy blue color. It is said to be rare and hard to find.
There is a rumor that once you face the Dragon, Death, and your worse fears. Then you will find that lily tied to fluttercorns. They guard it's powers. If your reason is pure they will hand one lily over to you. If your reason is not pure. They will leave you with nothing." He takes a breather as he smiles and then continues with the story. "The Princess knows that her reasons for wanting the Sacred Lily Of Life are pure. After all it wasn't her lover's time to die. A Feline Skinwalker took his life only because he crossed it's path. He did nothing to it and was only looking for a flower to please his princess.
That should be a pure enough reason. Not thinking about the Dragon, Death, and Fears as her mind is on the Fluttercorns that guard the Sacred Lily Of Life. They would have to listen to her. They would have to agree that she is pure and so is her reasoning to wanting the Lily. Thinking about it more and more as she travels the roads that are fore told in the legends of the Sacred Lily Of Life. Not paying mind to a lot that surrounded her until a fire grows around her.
This causes her to stop and look up. What she saw was an angry looking dragon breathing fire as the flames surrounded her even more. Please let me pass. I will not bow or turn away. I have nothing left in life. So let me go by. The Princess stated to the dragon flying overhead."

Amariel watched him with horror on her face. She was deathly afraid of dragons and anything of the sort. It sounded like this dragon was abusing the suns fire and was using it for evil.
"That sounds horrible! Did she perish? Did some one save her? Was she burned? or did he eat her like a roast?" Her voice sounded panicked, as she was deep into the story and eager to here its resolution.
She nearly tripped over an overgrown root. "oh how clumsy! well we are more than half way, please continue."

Taking another breather as he smiles liking the fact the someone is enjoying his story.He then continues. "After telling the dragon that she will not bow or turn away. The Princess stands her ground. Her eyes watching the Dragon as it lands. She puffs out her chest being proud and trying to seem brave. The Dragon lowers it's head and starts to speak. You dare to come onto my land and then state that you aren't going to leave. Give me a reason that I shouldn't eat you right now.
The Princess thinks of the Dragon's words. You might not care. I am on a journey to save my lover. Whose life was made short for no reason at all. If I must die so that he can live. I will gladly give my life now to you. Her words are touching and would touch anyone. But this is a Dragon she is dealing with. He breathes more fire around her as he had heard her words and they didn't touch him at all." Taking another little breather as he starts up again. "I said you wouldn't care. Not that it matters to me if you cared or not about my reasons for being here. I am only passing through. In the legend of what I am looking for you are the first challenge then is death. So I don't fear you. The princess still standing proudly and her chest still puffed out as she acts brave though she is really fearful of this Dragon.
The Dragon watches the Princess as he adores her courage Then I will let you pass if you can out smart me Princess. But if you can't then you become my lunch."

"Wow, she must be very in love with her dead prince, I don't know if i could stand up to that dragon." she sounded surprised. and the thought of standing up to a fire-breathing monster was appalling. The thought of outsmarting a dragon seemed daunting, she was never very good at riddles.
"well unless this is the end of your story, I assume she doesn't become lunch. so how does she do it? Are there riddles?"

Karei loves it when someone is into one of his stories. This one story he thought of when he came across two fluttercorns that carry Glowing icy blue lilies. He asked them if he could make a story about the lilies and they agreed and helped with the story. "The Princess reared up and landed into a bow. I give my word. If I can't outsmart you then I will die at your will. She looks up at the Dragon ready to outsmart him. She wasn't going to lose. She couldn't. Her lover needed her and the Sacred Lily of Life. She couldn't become lunch so some over grown dragon. Or at least those were her thoughts on the matter.
The Dragon looks at the Princess with a smirk as he puffs a bit of smoke from his mouth. Well then there are three challenges you will need to face in order to outsmart me. The first one is to walk through my flames without getting burnt. This will outsmart me. Seeing I believe you will be burnt.
The Princess smirks as she is a wind Soquili and though she hasn't shown her wings that have been under her cloak she knows how to use the wind her wings can make to put out a fire. She shows her wings and creates a wind that puts the fire out as she walks through it. First one done. And I am non-burnt. Name the next one. Her voice showing she is ready to take on the world."

Amariel looked to be very impressed, she wished she could do that, then maybe she could earn a lantern. the ritual for lantern barring was dangerous because you could be kicked out of the herd if you fail, and she would surely die without her family. She felt like this situation related to that of the Princess'.
"Very clever princess.. she is going to make a fool of him I bet!"
she almost felt like cheering the princess on.

Karei smiles. He loves this story and sharing it only helps it grow. "The Dragon looks at the Princess shocked at what she did. He clears his throat and begins to name the second of the three tasks. Next you need to outsmart me in a race. You have wings but lets see if you can fly through the valley of death like a dragon can.
The Princess realizes now that the Dragon and Death that stands in her way come together. So after she is done with these tasks then she will find the Fluttercorns. I take you up on this task. I will beat you in this race. Her voice calm." He continues.

Amariel shook her head, "She couldn't possibly out fly him, he would be huge! or maybe she could just fly past him and keep going? slip away while he is trying to race?" she then envisioned the dragon spinning back and devouring her. "I do hope she has another trick up her sleeve." she sounded doubtful again, but optimistic.
"I like you'r story Karei"
