'Oopsy-Daisy'? This thing just kept getting stranger and stranger, first it had jumped out of the bushes and now it was clapping and giggling...at what? At his misfortune that was what this little creature was taking glee in, the fact that Paxton was now covered in the not so great smelling park mud. Of coarse Gabby didn't mean to be spiteful by laughing at Paxton in the mud, and thankfully children at Paxton's age don't quite understand the concept of taking happiness in others pain.
Of coarse, Paxton wasn't in any pain, and Gabby wasn't taking pleasure in it. The girl was simply recalling a happy experience which she had that dealt with the mud, and it was making her laugh. Besides she said that she liked the black spots on him, she thought they were 'petty'. Well at least she was taking pleasure in the mud which covered him, even if his mother would be displeased that he had gotten himself messy again.
Wait? Ma wouldn't throw him in the 'wash-wash' like this girl said her mother tried to do. Sometimes Ma did scare him a bit with her ranting and raving, one minute she would seem perfectly happy and the next she would be yelling, not at him though. She was normally very nice though, oh dear would she throw him in the wash-wash for this? Paxton looked down at the bits of mud which were now beginning to interweave themselves with the fabric, either way Ma was going to start talking very loud and making a fuss when she saw him. His wings dropped slightly at this thought, she wasn't going to be happy.
Amazingly enough Gabby's talkative and inquisitive nature seemed to draw Paxton out of his little slum before he could sink further into the mud (literally and mentally). He perked his head up, his eyes watching her every little motion; from her head tilt, to the movement of her eyes. Bah! There she went again startling him, causing him to scoot back a few inches as she exclaimed that they should make up a song together. This thing was very surprising, what would it do next? He was going to have to be on his guard today.
"Ids da its bitsy spie-dur when up da wawa---" that's all he could get out before she went off and away chattering again. The bush? No, the bush certainly wasn't right, but he wasn't about to tell his new companion that. "Mabee." Paxton replied with a large smile on his face as he stood up and brushed the mud from his tail feathers and behind. "Oh mabee es da twee!" Paxton pointed to a near bye oak tree which went reaching up to the sky, a spider could certainly crawl up that.

Please don't tumble over was the thought that suddenly flashed through Paxton's mind as he watched his companion become animated and excited at his news. If Gabby wasn't careful then she would fall over into the mud too, then both there mommies would get together and throw both of them in the wash-wash. Just thinking about it made Paxton ruffle his feathers and cringe again. From now on he was going to have to start becoming more careful. My, it seemed that today had many, many lessons in store for him. Perhaps there was a few more?
Luckily the other little love bird didn't fall, yet she made the strangest expression with her face as she tried to be silent for a moment? 'Ish it da hard to be quie?' Paxton wanted to ask her, but he refrained. Maybe it was hard for a thing that talked all the time to be quiet. After all, little Gabby's lips hadn't stopped moving since she had said hello to him. And Paxton being the quiet type that he was certainly didn't have any experience with this not talking when you talked a lot thing. Very curious he would have to see if he could find this trait in anyone else. Ah great? Now what was it doing, there was something shimmery in her eyes. If Paxton had, had the right word in his vocabulary to describe the look in eyes right then he would have called it mischief. Why was she suddenly so excited? Mentally he made a note that it was time to get ready to be surprised again.
Bingo! He was right on time as Gabby's little hand wrapped around Paxton's arm and tugged at him to follow. "Whhha!" Paxton stumbled behind holding on to maintain his balance, again his wings went flapping and little heart racing. Even though he knew Gabby was going to surprise him he wasn't ready to be pulled along by her, more like pulled over. "I ish coming! I ish coming!" Paxton wailed as she abruptly brought there journey to an end. Finally the terror was over and he could bring back the volume of his voice to its natural whisper, instead of the panic filled cry which Gabby seemed to trigger in him. Letting out a sigh Paxton lifted his head tilting it back just as Gabby had done. Wh-where was the sky? Ah, there it was, and over there just a speck of gray in-between the never ending leaves. When did the giant stop?
Another rattle of wind sent the old oak shuttering. "He-hewo mistha twee" Paxton mumbled still overtaken by its sheer size. Oh my goodness, he had almost forgotten to say hello, Ma would have said he had terrible manners if he hadn't said hello. But, did mistha twee even care if Paxton said hello to it. When Gabby had asked him her question he just whispered back like he usually did. Maybe there was a reason why mister tree didn't talk back to them, maybe they weren't meant to understand mister tree. Paxton touched the bark of the elderly thing gingerly. No mister tree defiantly had something to tell them, some day he would figure out what mister tree had wanted to tell him, but for today he just smiled at Gabby. "Mistha twee dus say yeas. He say da spie-dur go uppa" He didnt really have the heart to tell his companion he couldn't understand, besides maybe the sipder really did go up the tree and not the wawa--what ever that last word was.
