A few weeks had passed since the night she'd met him, the night that lead to a bond she didn't think could ever be broken. He'd gone slowly, and she'd gained more and more comfort in his presence even though it took her time in letting her guard down around him. Peren had put her all into enjoying time with him, it was easy to be with Charger, he was fun and made her feel amazing it was only her own manners that seemed she needed to change. Needless to say he'd taught her how to be open and enjoy emotional contact and just about all ways to be with a mate and a good mate in return.
The mare had stayed by his side at just about every opportunity trying to fully commit every fibre of her being to him and only him. Within the herd she didn't have any responsibilities, nor friends and her family where content and busy with their own life's. So she hadn't given them much thought since following him to his own spot within the herd, she didn't know if they'd stay there or if this was just a make do. Peren had never really picked a spot and previously just slept wherever she was when she felt tired.
As the sun began to set on the day Peren could feel her body start to awaken, she'd always preferred to be nocturnal, she enjoyed the night and her body just seemed to roll with this kind of sleep pattern.

Charge was returning to their place after feeding himself and getting water, he'd also decided to bring back grass for her. He'd been up for hours, he'd always been semi nocturnal and easier with waking in the afternoon. He was getting use to being up to watch the sunset and then be with Peren for most of the night until sleep took him. She was a wonder and he loved her desperately, even when her huge family made him uncomfortable. Though they appeared to mostly be leaving him and them together alone. Out of respect for her or if they just wanted to let them figure themselves out he didn't know. But they were around, he'd seem them at the water hole and field where they all fed.
"Well hello there my little sleepy lyra. You're looking just as beautiful as always." He walked up just as she was waking. The surprised look on her face that she was able to experience another day made him smile. Gently he set the large mouthful of grass down in front of her. "Brought you breakfast."

Her eyes had opened to see his form before anything else and it did indeed amaze her even now to see he was still here. A smile couldn't be tamed and spread at the thought of seeing another sunset and spending the night together once more. He'd given up his solo life, with the entire world to explore to come live in her big ol' herd and she was just very thankful non of her relatives had come snooping. Not that she imagined they would without reason but there where stars like her uncle who liked to do such things just for the giggles.
"Such a handsome wonderful site to awaken to, though... I still need to adjust to having someone so awake and chirpy in my mornings." Letting out a chuckle she leaned forward to sniff at the grass, so fresh and brought just for her, she felt spoiled. Then she felt a queasy sense in her stomach and found herself letting out a snort of air as if something didn't sit right with the grass. Confused she blinked and shook her head, how strange, shrugging it off she went ahead and began to nibble on her breakfast. After a few mouthfuls the feeling returned as if her body was screaming at her to stop so she did and started to get to her feet "Thank you for breakfast, I appreciate it but it seems I am not all that hungry."

He chuckled as she truly opened her eyes and adjusted to being awake. "I'm not chirpy when I awaken, your just a night owl and don't know it." He nuzzled the side of her face and watched as she sniffed at the food. She seemed...somehow displeased by his gift for a minuet and he was about to be affronted and then she started eating so he figured he'd imagined the look in her eyes...until she stopped eating and then he was worried. He'd never known her not to have an apatite. "What's wrong dear?"

"I'm sure it is nothing." Once she was up on her feet she went to smile at him but suddenly felt dizzy, staggering forward she leaned in on him and stayed there for a moment. "This is very strange, I can not recall feeling this way before." Taking a moment to get her breath she nuzzled him gently before withdrawing and testing if she could stand without support. Check she could, perhaps it was just a passing feeling... just like her stomach, maybe she was just thirsty? Deciding to put it to the side of her mind she focused back on Charger and the conversation they had previous been having "Oh so you are a big grump like I when you do awaken?" She smirked at him, trying to put the strange feelings of the morning to the side of her mind.

He narrowed his eyes at her when she wobbled and leaned but not because he was angry, he was just worried. He'd begun to know her and as a strong little thing. This was definitely out of character. But if she as coming down with something, he'd take care of her. "Well no, I get to wake up next to you. But it does take me a few minuets to fully awaken." He nuzzled her, still worried. "Darling, would you like to lie back down and rest for the day?"

"No... Can we get a drink? My throat is parched from a heavy day sleep." She looked to him and nuzzled in return, it hadn't taken her long to get used to physical contact. Her eyes though happy held an edge that if they could speak would say just how parched she felt. Though she felt weak in the knee's still it came and went and she wasn't about to give in and give up an entire night with him! Peren was not one to show weakness if she could help it and the last thing she wanted was for Charger to consider her a weak and vulnerable mare.
"Careful that sweet tongue landed you with me think what other trouble it could lead to." Grinning she swayed playfully into him and found herself staying on him a little longer than expected before moving back to her own supported stand.

He grinned at her, despite everything she mad him happy, even when she was acting strange. "Yes, we can get water. Your father was down there when I was last there."
He laughed when she started to 'dance' with him. She was nothing if full of small surprises "It's only ever gotten me exactly what I've always wanted. I've never tried using the power for evil." He grinned roguishly. "But I do so love drowning you in compliments."

Turning she faced the way of the nearest water hole and nodded, ready to set off. "Just remember with great power comes great responsibilities! Or I think that is what they say...." Raising her brow she considered that, that's what had sprung to her mind anyway. Unbeknown to her had it lead them to a great responsibility indeed as she innocently started to trot off to get water with him.

He blinked at her a few times before following behind. It was better to see her back in her usual good spirits. Though her words somehow held an ominous quality, he really wasn't sure what she meant by it, nor had heard the saying before. Oh well, learn something new everyday. "I'm not sure I know what you mean by that." He called from behind her.

A few weeks later. Some day the strange feelings had completely disappeared and other days left her taking Charger up on his offer to simply rest. Perens family had still kept their distance which hadn't surprised her, they didn't bother with her much before she had a mate why would they now? The mare hadn't minded but she was getting frustrated with herself and was at a complete lose as to what was wrong with her, why was her body feeling like such a traitor?!
It had really brought out Chargers caring side, her love ever blooming for him as she learnt more and more about him and all the different aspects her mate held. Today she'd awoken early unable to stay asleep with the nausea seemly taking over her entire being, making her stomach turn. Now that she came to think of it she was getting less and less sleep, becoming more and more uncomfortable....
The lyra was puzzled, at a loss and starting to consider other options, could she see a Diviner? Perhaps a relative might be able to shed some life, but to ask and seek them out would be weak wouldn't it? Or at this point was it just plain good sense? She really didn't want to be a bother to anyone, but was it far for Charger to keep having to put up with her, even if she tried to hide her symptoms as much as possible.

She was ill again and he was beyond worried. He knew she was trying to hide it and and slough it off. But she could quite hide it from him, not when then were in so close proximity. She wasn't eating well and claimed slight queasiness but she also said it was nothing. Not to worry. But he'd worry anyway. Especially when he was beginning to wonder if the symptoms would ever go away and she'd be one hundred percent herself again. He really, really didn't like seeing her uncomfortable.
He nudged her and rubbed on her neck in their sleeping place. She'd woken with him today witch in itself was very unusual. "What's up love? How are you feeling. It's a little early for you to be awake."

"Mmmm" She'd tried to keep to a slight doze even as the thoughts spiralled around her brain making it difficult even if her body wasn't. "It is nothing love... One day I shall be able to awaken with your charm to take on the world." She tried to chuckle but caught herself off as it turned into a sigh as her stomach fluttered.
Shifting to get comfortable around and with him her head shot up as she looked at him with a purely startled gaze. "Did you just... shift or... by chance poke my stomach?" Peren had felt something... a poke... or a kick? Shock was clear as she waited for his response.

Charged blinked at her, he hadn't moved except to cuddle her neck with his head. All four of his hooves were securely curved underneath him in his usual sleeping position.
His eyes bugged as he turned to stare at her stomach. Oh no, oh dear. Oh no. "No dear. My foot is still under me. Is there something underneath you that poked you?" Perhaps that was it and not what he feared.
