Tossing another stick onto the pile, Frozenheart sighed contentedly. He was at a great point in his life, and to be truthful he wasn't sure they could get any better. He had finally taken a mate, and of all the wild dogs, it had been Lightfoot. The selfless female who had saved him as a pup. Words couldn't express just how content he was at the moment, having just placed the finishing touch on their new den, all that was left was to find Lightfoot. She was around, he knew that much, she never went too far. Typically she would invite him along if she were to go for a run, and this time there had no invite. Granted, he was nowhere near as swift on his feet as she was, he got the idea that she still enjoyed his company. Plus something told him she just liked having someone to rag on. Which was perfectly fine with him, it just meant more time together. And maybe he'd finally get into shape and by some miracle beat her in a race?

A hearty laugh escaped the male's throat as he turned tail to find his mate. That was a long shot and everyone knew it! Frozenheart hung his head a bit and shook it in disbelief, if he hadn't known her his entire life, something he'd think she was cheating. But nope! She was just incredibly fast ... and sweet ... and jhust so much fun to be around. And that was why they were here at this crossroads ... together.

It took bit a split second for Frozenheart to turn and face his mate, a wide smile spread across his face as he did so.

"Lightfoot, welcome home!" His words were a bit high and excitable, just as they always were when she came into view. He was especially glad to see her today, simply so that he could show off their lovely new home. He knew she'd been waiting on him to finish for quite some time, and now it finally was. Granted he was by no means an excellent builder, but this ... it was exceptional to him. Beyond what he would typically think he could accomplish.

"Oh goody, working on this thing worked up a bit of an appetite!" His tail began to wag excitedly as he began to taste the snack on his tongue, Lightfoot had quite a habit for picking the choicest meats around. Mostly because she was quite swift making her capable of finding the best there was to find.

"Oh you mean this den? Why don't you take a look for yourself?" His voice was smooth and held a tone of self satisfaction within it. "I think its a little better than my last attempt - and by that I mean it didn't fall down before I could finish it!"

Something seemed off about her today, though he couldn't quite place exactly what it was. He had glanced her over - as was his norm, as soon as she'd arrived home. She had no injuries to speak of, and looked otherwise in good shape. But there was still something there ... something he couldn't quite place. Perhaps as the evening went on, he would pick up on something? But he didn't want to rely on his own skills to find this one out .. he wasn't always that sharp.
