User ImageIt had been a while since the stallion traveled through the lower lands toward the southern boarder, Six territory. It was obvious that Charcoal was bored out of his skull to be even wandering close to the boarders. His ears flicked forward as he let his thoughts elude him into the wind. How long has it been since he was wandering around here, the whole island in general? He had come with a mare named Kris, but the two parted ways soon after. He had indeed met a few azrein, but never got close to any one of them. Why was that? It was obvious that there was something out there for him. Charcoal couldn't stop that nagging feeling in his gut...partly the reason for his wandering. As he day-dreamed, he came quite close to the boarder and within earshot of some harsh words...

He couldn't believe the sight in front of him. What a weak colt that Flighty had given him! Out of all stallions, Flighty, being one of the highest of the guard, but fallen after having an affair with the Mistress Savina, bearing to gift the Voltaire such a weakling? He felt played, mocked. Well, he'll show Flighty what a great student the blue stallion was to him. And now he was mentoring his own mentor's son. Laughing coldly as the colt in front of him was breathing, gasping for air, the stallion was able to envision the end. The end of the colt's lineage. The death of the mare whom stolen his mentor's heart. The mare that changed Voltaire's intentions. The mare who gave birth to this colt. His two hons on the forehead were lowered, like a capra lowering his head to ram the enemy. He endured so much battle training, but had never actually killed one of his kind, just watched them suffer. His intentions were still partially good. Raise the colt, train him until he was old enough to be presented to his father and the other rascal of the family, Razien. He smiled, just thinking about the family reunion. Flighty thanking him for raising his son.

His thought was broken once the colt shrieked a bit. Rolling his eyes, Voltaire walked away, but was still a close distance away. Yes, this colt, Nasu, would prove to Flighty how much he had learned. All by killing his very own brother. The idea of brother killing brother exhilarated him, for though he did not have one of his own, he would watch as family stallions fought one another for the eldest son position. After all, the other two colts, Karitoriki and Eri went up north.. with.. that mare.

Disgust fell into him once more, and this colt reminded him too much of the mare, looking like twins. Rage fell into him and he wasn't able to control himself. Charging forth, he rammed himself to the colt, able to taste the blood that flew onto his muzzle. Even the colt's helpless screams of pain once more reminded him of Savina. "This is all because of her!" he screamt into the colt's ear, eventually letting himself free from the madness bubbling inside. Nasu was cut and bruised, on the dead grass under him, still alive, but damaged. Voltaire sneered, content. "Remember to mention to Flighty of how well of a mentor I am, will you not?"

Charcoal came forward into the evil lands unaware that he had indeed crossed a boarder. But he was curious at the sounds of the angry voice. It was only when he heard frantic squeal that he kicked himself into gear, his hooves pounding the dead vegetation underneath him hard. As the stallion came into the view before him, his eyes widened with shock and horror. This was not happening was it?! The foal was helpless and the brute was laying him down like he was nothing. The stallion shook his head before kicking himself into another gear eager to get to the colt. It was then that he charged the blue stallion from the flank giving a loud growl like snort. Charcoal at least attempted to get the blue stallion away from the frantic and obviously wounded colt. "GRROOOWWL! Pick on someone your own size!, Freak!" He challenged pawing at the ground with both front hooves whinnying loudly. It was one of the few times he missed his fire though he could surely feel it boiling in his body and blood. He only turned his head a moment to look at the colt before back a this opponent. "You all right, kid?" Charcoal didn't expect the small thing to answer, but some sort of acknowledgement would do. He wondered if he had come and saved the little one in time.

Oh, he did not enjoy this interruption at all. He was caught by surprise, not even noticing that he had been crept up upon until actually being hit.All thanks to him warning the stupid colt. It was a hit that was able to keep his mind off of Nasu and stare at the stranger, snorting, not even replying to the insult that was obviously thrust upon him. What kind of stranger even dared to challenge the blue stallion? Only this stranger dared to, so it was remarkable to him. A bit of respect was placed onto him.

Voltaire stood his ground, waiting, hoping that his mentee was too, dead. Oh, how he would have loved to see brother fight brother, but to see Nasu dead even before that,.. well, that was something much more exhilarating. Narrowing his eyes, he then stared at the stranger, giving him room, but examining him, remembering every detail. He was not the type to forget a stranger.

Shaking in fear, Nasu heard another voice. One that was yelling at Voltaire? Pricking them to the side, he was able to hear the part of being a freak. Of course Voltaire was one! Why did he deserve to live anyways?! He then realized that he was being asked a question. Giving out a little moan, the colt laid still, just waiting.

The stallion snorted as the blue male said nothing to him. This one seemed more the action than the talking type which would suit Charcoal fine. He stretched his frame, placing his hooves far out as if appearing himself to look bigger. The stallion pawed at the ground with a front hoof as if lowering his body to charge. Even though the other one had horns, Charcoal was not one to run away from a fight. The stallion came forward a little more trying to warn the blue to leave or right. There was a green fire in his eyes as he let his body do the talking. Charcoal was fired up and ready to go for a fight. He was a protector after all. After some silence, Charcoal gave a grunt never letting his guard down. "So what's it gonna be, blue-bell? We gonna dance or are you gonna get to steppin', stage left?" The stallion studied the horned one in front of him carefully standing up a little higher now. This was always the part he hated...the waiting to react.

Though Voltaire's instincts did tell him to immediately fight back, he felt like his fight here was done. Besides, Nasu was well beaten, brought this outsider into his own lands, and worse of all, the lesson was over. The outsider.. in... his.. lands. He watched, ready, as the striped stranger attempted making himself look before. Rolling his eyes, he snorted, wanting this to be over already.

"Why fight over this runt?" he hissed. "It is you who I would call the freak. You are one of those who pretend that they are so good that they would dare to interfere with a battle training lesson. You.. even that tail of yours. Ugghh.. so fluffy. You would never make it down here." He cocked his head to the side, trying to see the foal behind. "He will not do in his previous state, so he needed a boost to see what life is truly like, brutal, bloodthirsty, working under the Six." Turning his eyes back to the green that were staring at him, he scoffed. "But I would not attack you because you have not done much here... except cross the borders."

"Why not fight over this runt?" He gave a bit of a sneer straightening his neck out, and lifting his head upward allowing his gaze to be down on the other stallion rather than equals. His tail flicked behind him more in agitation than anything. "You judge me how you will, but let's just say I don't have much of a heart for those with choose to pick on foals just because he has a chip on his shoulder." Charcoal gave a low growl feeling his throat become hot. If he could, he would just smoke this b*****d like he used to back in his...other body. "I've made it in plenty of places, friend. If you would take the time to know me rather than be loathing and so damn bitter all the time, maybe you could take a chance on socialization." Charcoal could see there was anger in this male. Why not else decide to attack one that could not defend himself? But then again this was the land of the Six and as the blue pig later pointed out, Charcoal had crossed the boarder. "Working under the Six is like that yes, but there are better options. Trust me." At this point, Charcoal was attempting to bluff. He couldn't see himself as an evil azrein and it was obvious the other didn't either, but who was to say that Charcoal never used to be one? "Besides, what's wrong with a small, curious home-coming? I didn't know that the Six were raising child killers. I thought our fight was against the two-legged freaks, not each other. But I've been away so long...maybe things have changed. And I left in good time." Green eyes slanted as Charcoal kept his frame in front of the colt preventing the other from a good view. "Alas, it appears I have indeed crossed boarders that are no longer mine to be welcome to. So, I'll take my leave. With the colt." The stallion stressed the last part as he backed up to stand over the foal lowering his muzzle to nudge the smaller figure gently, his green eyes never leaving the cold stare that was upon the both of them.

His stare was fixed on the stallion's every movement, flicking his ears forward from time to time, listening carefully to every word, waiting for his turn to speak. Voltaire did see some truth in the stranger's words, but wouldn't those have also been the word spoken by anyone else who was in the same situation as he was, but just did not know the blue creature? Already, Voltaire was well aware of all the spies and scouts in the south who would give news to the north. How he wanted to rid of them all.

"Tell me more about these options of yours." he demanded, into the idea that there was something else out there for him. With the humans? No way! "And then you may take the colt with you." His horns were raised, his eyes looking from the stallion to the colt, and back to the stallion. "Mark my words that that colt would be nothing but trouble if you were to raise him though."

Nasu was old enough to understand what was happening, but why was it now? Why wouldn't his father rescue him instead? Slowly getting up, his little legs brought him to the rear of his rescuer, shaking with fear.

Uh-Oh. The b*****d wanted him to explain?! Ugh could this day get any worse?! Charcoal gave a sigh and rolled his eyes for a moment. "If you must know, Spike, I plan on teaching him the art of conversion." Charcoal let a pause as if allowing it to sink in but he was simply grasping for words. "Sometimes Six members are not born fast enough as you know. We work on the art of converting others to our cause. So I would teach this foal how to not only worm his way into neutral and enemy territories, but to also sway their minds to us. Send back a few more recruits for you to beat up while he's at it. Misery loves company, yes?" Charcoal gave a sadistic grin, the best that he could muster really, as his tail flicked behind him. He looked over his shoulder as if reassuring the colt that things would be fine. His green gaze then turned back toward the blue one. "If he fails at my tasks, I'll kill him myself and bring his corpse back to you. Problem solved. That way I really know how much trouble he is." Charcoal gave a nonchalant shrug watching him carefully. He didn't want to risk offering the colt up to this crazy stallion. No telling what would happen to him. His main priority was to just get him out and get him out fast.

"It is pretty evident that you have not learned my name yet, Fluffy. Its Voltaire. what might yours be Furball?" He blinked, hearing the words that the stranger had to say to him. Flashbacks came to him, remembering himself of his childhood. Such a weakling who was sort of like Nasu. He looked at the scared colt and back to the stallion, finally reflecting on himself. Was he willing to break Nasu's gentle nature and turn it into a beast like himself? Into a killer?

His eyes widened, hearing what was promised next. Kill him?! "No! You must not do that!" he shouted. Sure, all this change of thought must make the furball think Voltaire was mad and did not know what he was even trying to say, but there was far more into him than the drive of madness. "Don't kill him. Please, I beg of you. He will give you trouble, but you are not the one to call forth his death."

He ignored the guarding stallion and approached Nasu. "Stay away from this place Nasu. Go with this stallion. The South is not the right place for you. Find your mother if need be." With this,Voltaire stepped back, climbing back up the hill. His home.

Nasu did not say anything, but was left confused. Was he now free? But what if this new stallion would indeed kill him when Voltaire was no longer watching?

Charcoal eyed him a little as if attempting to appear menacing. "Name's Char. Nothing more, nothing less. I like to keep things simple, Volty." The stallion waggled his eyebrows before giving another grunt. It was then that the blue stallion in front of him suddenly changed. His whole demeanor everything. Charcoal almost lost his evil facade looking over his shoulder at Nasu. Charcoal almost jumped when Voltaire came forward, but it seemed as though this stallion was pleading to the colt. Then suddenly that stallion was gone, going back further into the badlands.

Charcoal stood for a moment as if collecting his thoughts. He then turned away looking toward the colt and giving a bit of a snort. "Nasu's your name then?" His demeanor totally changed back to his normal self as he trotted around to check on the colt. He nosed his wound a moment and sniffed checking him over. "It hurts, but it'll heal. C'mon, let's get out of here." Charcoal nosed the colt into standing and pushed him onward away from the southern boarder. As long as they reached neutral territory, they would be fine.

Nasu nodded his head, accepting his name of Nasu, looking up to the stallion above him. Was he ever going to be big and strong like Voltaire and Char? It was a little funny having someone older than him walk around the colt, for Voltaire usually told Nasu that it was just plain unnatural. He wanted to say something about it, but what if this Char would abuse him more than Voltaire did? Instead of following the stallion to safety though, he was forced to head forth, refusing to leave his homeland. What would he even find out there? "Where?" he asked, constantly turning his head around.

Charcoal looked curiously over at the colt wondering if he was a mute. Couldn't be since he made all that noise when Voltaire attacked him. The stallion gave a gentle snort attempting to herd Nasu the other way instead of heading further and further into nasty country. "What you mean where? Out into the big, less than evil world. I mean the southern lands are considered Six reign, but there are plenty of other places to go. I don't necessarily like the idea of humans, so I remain within the middle, in neutral territory." The growlithe flashed a grin motioning with his head just over the hill where Charcoal had come. It then occurred to him that maybe he shouldn't have blown his cover so soon. "Didn't Spikey say to get out of here, as far away from here as you can? Don't you have other family I can take you to or something? Someone that cares enough about you so that you don't get the crap knocked out of you for no reason? Like your mom! Where's your mom?" This was turning out to be one knuckleheaded kid.
