It had been a while.
Maggie had disappeared after she and Alex got separated. Even she's not sure what happened. All of a sudden, she'd woken up in an unknown forest with a vague memory of what had transpired before, and no knowledge of how she'd gotten to where she was. Alone and extremely confused, she'd made her way back to Amityville. But something had changed, and she wasn't sure what to do about it. The atmosphere seemed...odd. Well, everything seemed more odd than it had been, but the school was even more so.
She'd made her way back to her dorm room, only to discover that it had been TRASHED. MINIPET POOP EVERYWHERE. With an exasperated sigh, she'd cleaned it, and proceeded to dig out a pair of jeans and a thick black jacket out of her closet since it was rather cold outside. Making sure to feed her poor minipets (and take them out to potty so she wouldn't have to burn MORE sheets), she shut her dorm door with a click, and proceeded out onto the grounds to investigate. Maybe she'd spot someone she was familiar with. Most likely not though.

Xiu was not, by any means, a fan of the cold, but lately she had found that the chill, crisp air helped clear her mind. Wrapped up in a thick scarf and a coat, the snow crunched beneath her boots as she made a round around the school. She did not have any particular destination in mind--she just wanted to take a walk.
A lot of things had been happening lately. Things that confused her, angered her, and--most of all--scared her. Usually she would go and find a friend to talk to about these concerns, but lately, it seemed as if she wasn't the only one who was acting a little strangely sometimes...
And so, in the end, Xiu settled for wandering around and trying to clear her mind on her own. Eyes lowered, she tried to focus on her thoughts, but found that her attention kept getting drawn to other things. The way the light glinted off the snow, the sound it made as she stepped on it, the cold air biting as her exposed cheeks...
...Then it happened. Having been completely oblivious and inattentive to her surroundings, the ghoul let out a squeak of surprise when she felt herself suddenly colliding into someone's back. Stumbling back, she managed to catch herself before she fell, using a tree as support. Letting out a quiet sigh of relief, she looked up apologetically at the other student, her ears and her tail drooping. "My apologies! Are you alright?!"

Maggie let out an "oof!" of surprise as someone knocked into her from behind. Stumbling forward, she regained her balance and turned to see who had bumped into her. Seeing the other ghoul, she gave a small smile. " Oh, yeah, I'm okay. Are you?" The other ghoul looked a bit awkward the way she stood against the tree behind her. Stepping closer, Maggie outstretched a hand in greeting and smiled. " I'm Maggie, it's nice to meet you." As she stepped closer, she realized she had a few questions. Her absence had left her severely out of the loop as to what was happening. " So, what's all this white stuff?"

Looking sheepish, Xiu clasped her hands in front of her and dropped down in a bow. "S-sorry...but oh yes, I'm fine! Don't worry about me." She straightened up so that she could smile at the other ghoul, pushing off of the tree that she had been using to support herself. Well, at least neither of them had gone tumbling into the snow!
The baku immediately took the offered hand with her own, lips spreading into a smile. "Nice to meet you, Maggie! I'm Xiuying, though please, just Xiu will do!" Her tail gave a friendly little wave behind her, her expression becoming a little wry at the question. Crouching down, Xiu scooped up a bit of the snow in her gloved hands.
"This is snow! Definitely a pretty rare occurrence here in Halloween but...it happens from time to time." She packed the fluffy substance in her hands into a snowball, chucking it at a nearby tree. "Pretty fun to play with too," The baku admitted with a little laugh. Only if you didn't mind the cold and the wetness, though.
After a moment of hesitation, she turned back to look at the ghoul, cocking her head to the side. Something about Maggie seemed...familiar. Perhaps she had seen the other ghoul in the passing before? With...one of her other friends? "Have you been here at Amity for long?"

Her ears twitched a bit absently as the ghoul - Xiu - introduced herself, then picked up this "snow" and threw it at a tree. " Snow...Hmm?" Maggie was a bit caught off-guard by the question. " Not...especially. I started at the school right after the Fright Night Festival, but..." She trailed off, remembering what had happened to her and Alex and Chryses...and then losing Chryses in the confusion, and then separating from Alex. It came in a flood, and Maggie was lost in her own head until a nearby branch, too heavy with snow, gave and fell to the ground with a thump. Shaking her head and inhaling the crisp cold air to steady herself, Maggie focused back on Xiu. " Sorry...I've been gone for a while, and it seems a lot has gone on." Picking up a handful of snow, she mimicked Xiu and packed it with her bare hands since she didn't put on gloves, and threw it at the tree. " You're right! That was fun. What else can we do with this stuff?", she asked excitedly. Maybe she'd get her purple Boafox, Ellie, later and bring her out to play in it.

Aah, right after Fright Night? So she's been here...for not that long then, but perhaps long enough to have been dragged into the Haunted House incident. She frowned a little at the thought, but perked up when Maggie continued to speak, immediately snapped back to attention.
"Oh...gone?" She echoed, looking puzzled. However, she didn't press lest it was something that Maggie wanted to keep private, simply giving the other ghoul a weak smile and a small nod of her head. "Well...yes, I suppose that quite a bit has happened. Did you want me to give you a quick rundown, perhaps?"
It was something that the baku was quite used to doing. She never minded updating the newer students on the latest happenings, believing that letting them know about the most recent events would give them a good idea as to what they should expect and be prepared for here at Amity. At the questino about the snow, Xiu found herself grinning, crossing her arms over her chest as she hummed thoughtfully. "You caaan...build snowmen? Like, by stacking together three really big balls of snow together on top of each other! Or you can make a fort and um...snowball fights!"
