"Attention all students!" The Ickycom screeched rather delightfully on a rather fine, if not bland Moonday. "DETH representatives will be holding a special exhibit on Human World Christmas events! There will be free gifts for everyone, so don't miss out!"
Sometimes, one had to wonder if the Ickycom was for school-wide important announcements or just a form of advertising. There were amongst the students, mixed reactions upon hearing the DETH word. For most, it was this disgruntled sigh, considering that everyone and their resident swamp monster's mom knew more than enough and saw in the news more than enough articles regarding DETH's petitions against Human harming, or the last time they strapped themselves to a Halloween portal tree to prevent the bogeymen from entering or leaving Halloween. There was always that.
For other students however, and most, there was still fascination. While Christmas, or the land of Christmas was more than often seen as a rather terrifying place full of candy, snow, and vicious elves - extremely vicious elves - and all sorts of creatures that for some reason, did not like Halloween, it was always a curiousity to see what Humans thought of the holiday. Did they Fear the holiday? Was it more terrifying? There were standards here that needed to be matched.
Upon entering the school auditorium, for any interested, the double doors swung wide open with very unusual, slow music playing in the background that was annoying at best, with all the wishes of Sandy Claws coming down chimneys (like that wouldn't scare any normal ghoul or boil), and jingling elves or something. Inside were rows and rows of spooky ovens, tables full of coloured paper, and a whole bunch of red ribbons. As in a mountain of them.
There were a few familiar faces supervising: the tiny contract minipet-like figure of Professor QB talking to some sort of sparkling (or not really) vampire, another DETH associate, who's name tag clearly wrote "ARGYLE ): ". Next to them was Arel, who was attempting to read a book titled "Elves and you: Understanding how to eliminate them" and then a little further down was Red helping herself to a few gingerbread cookies under her cloak as if noone would notice.
< Welcome students to the Human World Christmas event! > That would be Professor QB speaking, in their minds. < We have a few stations to help you get started. At the workshop today, we will be experiencing a Human World event, with the assistance of our helpers here, and then wrap it up in a present to give to your friends. The act of giving to a friend or another person is considered very important in Human World traditions, and creates feelings known as Joy. While we do not want too much Joy in this world, it is important we understand how this works and why Humans create this emotion! Now, everyone wash your hands, and then to station one. >OOC: GIFTMAS AND GINGERBREAD MAKING - A player can make and design as many gingerbread cookies as they want! Use the gingerbread cookie template (see below after steps) to personalize the cookie for another player wink - For each completion of a cookie and gift wrapping, you get +2 bonus rp points. You can do this 3 times max before it doesn't count any more! - NPCs are littered around each station: you can attempt to ask them for help, but chances are they probably wont reply or are too busy eating the contents of the table to actually be of any help... - Make sure you rp ALL YOUR RESULTS STATION 1: gaia_crown Station Helpers: Arel, Red (quote Marushii or Zoobey for assistance... at their leisure) gaia_crown [ Making a cookie: ] Your character sees in front of them a whole slew of supplies! They will now need to bake what is called a gingerbread cookie. Professor QB explains that the art of baking gingerbread cookies depends entirely on a wholesome amount of Joy, sugar, and some imported, modified Human World ingredients. STEP 1: MIXING SUPPLIES - Now that your character has washed their hands, they will need to start mixing ingredients! There are five cups of odd coloured ingredients on the table. Put them all together in the bowl and start mixing vigorously. Roll a 10-sided dice and match your dice roll to the results below:1 - 2: Perfect! Your mixture is super smooth! Now you can play it in the tray to roll out! + 3 cooking points 3 - 4: It could be better, its a little lumpy but better than nothing. +2 cooking points 5- 6: Well... you tried: +1 cooking points 6 or higher: You... well... something happened and now you're stuck with a goopy, lumpy mess. Good job. +0 cooking points STEP 2: CUTTING OUT COOKIES - After that, you will need to use the human-shaped cookie cuter to cut out some cookies! Roll a 6-sided dice and match your dice roll to the results below:Odd: You are awesome! Your cookies are perfect! + 2 cooking points Even: Half a cookie really should not count. Are you even trying? +0 cooking points STEP 3: BAKING - Now you will need to put the cookies in the oven! Make sure to bake for exactly 15 minutes! Roll 2 12-sided dice. That is the amount of minutes you leave it in the oven for. - If your roll is 1- 3 off: You did well! At least its smelling good. +3 cooking points - If your roll is 4 - 6 off: Well, it could have been better but at least you remembered. +2 cooking points. - If your roll is more than 7 off: An army of killer gnomes suddenly challenges you to a dance off. After much struggling, fighting, and finally, a touching and warm story about camaraderie and friendship, you finally manage to ward the killer gnomes off and return back to baking. +0 cooking points gaia_crown [ FINAL RESULT ]- Now match your cooking points to the FINAL RESULT! This is the gingerbread cookie you are left with! Using the template giving below, your student may now also decorate it with icing and candies (ooc: feel free to decorate your cookie as you please before moving to the next station. This cookie will be given to someone and I'm sure you want to personalize it!). If you scored 7 or higher: Your cookie is beautiful. Now you can decorate it (ie: here for template ) If you scored 4-6: Your cookie is a little burnt but still usable. Now you can decorate it (ie: Click here to use this template) If you scored 2-3 Your cookie is really burnt! Well at least you can still use it... it might also be crumbling a little. (Click here to decorate your cookie) If you scored 1 or less: Wow... what is that???? (Click here to decorate it) - After you are pleased with your cookie result, go to station 2! STATION 2: gaia_crown Station Helpers: Argyle, QB (quote nothing yet or Zoobey for assistance... at their leisure) gaia_crown [ Wrapping a present: ] As Argyle explains, wrapping a present is very important. It must be done with perfection! You would never know the amount of care and detail Humans spend on wrapping, not with your grubby paws and claws.... STEP 1: WRAPPING - You will get three attempts. Roll a 100-sided dice. If you aren't happy with your first attempt, you can unwrap and try again. You only get three times because wrapping paper is expensiveRolling 90 or higher: Your gift comes out perfect! Now you can give it away as you please to that special someone Rolling 80 - 90: You got a little overzealous with your gift but it still looks okay. Now you can gift it away as you please to that special someone Rolling 60 - 80: Well.... it looks... okay. Its the thought that counts right?. That special someone will still like your gift right? Rolling 60 or lower: Argyle is right there sticking a gold star on your present that says You Tried. You really did... STATION 3: COMPLETION!- Once your character has successfully made a cookie and wrapped it, they can now give it to their friends! You can do this in prps or orps with each other (basically make an rp giving that character the gift) - If you recieve a cookie, you can try eating it! Roll a 6-sided dice when you do: If you roll odd, it tastes okay, but nothing happens... If you roll even, the most wonderful sensation explodes in your taste buds, you feel like Christmas is the best thing ever and everyone needs to spread holiday joy and magic in the world and everything is happy and well and Merry Christmas everyone. You bound off happily sharing your new holiday delights with everyone... oh boy.

More than happy to see a baking booth, Marosa approached and glanced at the ingredients. He had been thinking about doing something to complement Sharra's hot chocolate drink, and this was the perfect opportunity to find out just what he could make for his new friend. Glancing over the table, the fae pondered over what ingredients he thought would make the perfect batter. After listening to the instructions, he gathered a few items - sugar, flour, eggs - and began to mash it together with his bare hands. Humming happily to himself, Marosa was content with what he was doing until a horrible thought crept into his mind. What if his abilities, somehow, could seep into the cooking? Wings fluttering unhappily, Marosa shoved the thought away with a shake of his head. There was no way that could happen. The Gancanagh continued on in silence until he finished mashing the ingredients together, his mood lightening once more on how well the blend actually came together. Upon further notice, he noted that he had been the first to arrive, thus having no one to talk to. He continued on with the next step. Quote: Mixing Supplies: +3 Cooking

Tomoko was excited as could be about helping wrap stuff and make spookies and - there weren't going to be any toy infernos this time, right? She might have given Arel a pathetic look on that note of things, frowning at him. However, listening to professor QB speak, Tomoko looked rather excited about the whole 'mixing ingredients' thing, looking at what they'd been supplied with and puffing her chest out.
She knew how to make spookie batter! At least, she was pretty sure she did as she sat fussing with the dough and knitting her little brow to try and follow the directions they'd been given to the best of her ability.
Except that the result was really lumpy and just left the little kitsune making a rather sad face. It could have been worse though, right?

Contrary to belief, Jack knew how to cook - or he easily told people such, considering he had to support himself and thirteen other cats when they felt the need to eat. It was a fickle tightrope walk when they had the urge to eat, safe to say.
When Tomo had asked him to come make cookies with her, he was a little skeptical - baking was not the same as cooking - but he decided to try. Looking down to the little kitsune, he gave her a reassuring smile. "I think the batter's rigged, mine looks a little funny too," he said to her, very quietly, only loud enough for her, and Uller, who had come around then when they all got there, could hear.

Terra had caught Roch. Not that it took much work, the moment she said spookies he was THERE, following her along cheerfully--completely intent on eating the spookies and not making them.
But she was forcing him to do this because... why WAS she forcing him to do this? She glanced at the punk that had just taken a handful of candy and shoved it in his mouth. "BeHAVE, hermano!" she told him. "You are making them, not eating them!"
"Quality testing," he said around his mouthful of food. She was so busy getting irritated at him that when she looked down at her cookie dough mix, she groaned and poked it, wondering if she could start over.
"This one is for you," she muttered after tasting it.

Millie wandered into the auditorium with the strange music playing. She found the eerie music not entirely terrible, but the promise of being able to make a cookie sounded fun. She spilled a small portion of the dry stuff and couldn't quite mix it properly. It looked okay to her. Probably some of her best work.

Marosa grabbed the nearest cookie cutter and began to cut out shapes, but he hadn't really been paying attention; now others were starting to arrive and it was making him rather fidgety, making him mess up on the way he was cutting out the shapes. Uller needed something happy right now. His life wasn't horrible, but he was feeling more lonely as it drew close to the Christmas time. He would be spending it alone, not that anyone here really cared. Tahki was gone, still, and there was no word from her lately. He didn't know if she would come back int he spring, or even if she would come back. Ugh.
That's when he heard the announcement and decided why not. His last experience with DETH wasn't too bad, so whatever.
Entering the auditorium, he found a station near Tomoko and Jack. Since he knew nothing of baking, he was just mimicking what he saw around him, not even bothering to measure things. It would come out like everyone else's right?
Apparently not. Sighing, he let his brows knit and just rolled his eyes as he finished mixing. It was... very much less than satisfactory. Whatever.
Then Jack chimed in.
"I think so too." His was practically solid!

Placing the sad things he called cookies into an oven, the Gancanagh stared at the thing before taking them out, not even waiting until they had heated up to cook. Jack, he swore to himself. At this rate, if he didn't start paying attention... A voice, clearing their throat, caught his attention. The fey raised an eyebrow at seeing a troupe of gnomes tapping their feet, arms crossed with unpleasant looks on their faces. In their small voices, they demanded a dance-off, Marosa had to leave his cookies in the oven to try to finish as he attempted to ward them off. Dancing was not his specialty. Doing a jig, however, was. Back and forth they demonstrated their moves, Marosa kicking up his feet (but not so high as to reveal what was under his kilt), matching move for move against the killer gnomes. He wasn't sure where the dancing stopped and the heartfelt stories began, but soon he found himself patting the gnome's back as he sobbed, giving a comforting "Ter, ter..." as the other poured his soul out. After saying their heartwarming goodbyes, Marosa turned to his oven and his face fell. Jackdammit his cookies. Pulling them out as quickly as he could, he tried to blow on them to cool them off, dropping the hot pan on top of the oven. Well, they at least looked... salvageable? Grabbing the icing, Marosa attempted to dress them up. Jack, he hoped no one saw. Well, no one ever said he was artistic. Quote: Mixing Supplies: +3 Cooking Cutting: +0 Cooking Baking: +0 Cooking

"For me?" Roch asked, peeking over her shoulder as she got the cookie cutter. With him behaving (if slightly drooling on her shoulder) she managed to cut out a perfect cookie, almost making up for the taste, she thought dryly. "Hey, hey, give him a mohawk! Or boobs, human shaped cookies should have boobs--"
She gave him a dirty look. "This is MY spookie to make. Go make your own," she told him.
"But it's going to be mine--"

Millie being the impatient one that she was, took the cookies out too early. While a bit underdone, Millie's coolie looked otherwise okay. Looking at the icing and decoration choices, Millie was surprised to see there were no orange and purple colors. Disappointed, Millie picked up what she assumed to be traditional colors. She gave her cookie claws and one large eye. Millie tried to hum along to the strange music as she worked, but she eventually found it too distracting but she was pretty proud of the monster cookie she had made.

"I guess that's pretty true." Tomoko agreed with Jack's assessment with a degree of uncertainty, but it looked like Uller had the same problem as both of them.
Gingerly, Tomoko divvied out some of her dough and dumped it into Uller's bowl before giving the boil a bright grin. "There! We'll all have lumpy dough now." she beamed cheerfully, attempting to be helpful in her own kind-of-dumb way. It was the thought that counted, really.
Lumpy dough that looked even more hilarious when Tomoko rolled it out and seemed to realize she'd given a pretty good portion of dough to Uller. Well.. HALF A SPOOKIE IT WAS. She regretted nothing as she stamped the cookie cutter over her half-a-spookie that was missing a chunk of an arm and a leg.SPOOKIE SCORE: 2

"Let's blame the people who made the dough, it's full of cement an' marbles!" He called out cheerfully to the two of them, trying to keep everything light and airy as he worked on pouring out his mass of cookie dough out, wondering how he was going to go about this, studying the cutter like it was made of some kind of brittle glass, before daintily stamping it down on the dough, tail flicking behind him carefully, like a cat with on a hunt.
Removing it again, the body of the little spooky sort of wibbled back at him, making him perk up extenstively - he did it! Now if he could only do it a couple more times, then he would feel a lot better about not understanding this whole cookie cut out part, giving a content trill at his shorter friends. "This is more fun than I expected, surprisingly." He admitted.

Uller mixed what Tomo had given him into his solid form for all he was worth after muttering a thank you to the kitsune. She was too sweet for her own good, sometimes. With his tongue sticking out, he tried to roll the dough out and stamped it as well as he could. It was basically bashing the cookie cutter over and over again into random spots on the dough sheet, but hey, they came out absolutely flawless.
"...Maybe you just have to be really violent with it," he said with a shrug, looking to the other two and holding up a perfectly formed cookie.
